Netsky announces return to drum & bass with brand new single ‘I See The Future In Your Eyes’ released on Hospital Records
One of the biggest names in dance music, Netsky has crafted the highest calibre of electronic anthems for over a decade, spanning countless genres, countries, charts and dancefloors. Now, the Belgian prodigy who cut his teeth on Hospital Records in 2010, is returning to the genre that made him a house-hold name with his first solo D+B record in 5 years, ‘I See The Future In Your Eyes’.
A truly iconic artist for all manner of drum & bass fanatics across the globe, the unprecedented way that Netsky’s music resonates with audiences has never been matched. Having elevated himself to legendary status through tracks such as Pirate Bay, Iron Heart, Come Alive, Rio, Puppy, I Refuse and Drawing Straws, he released 2 D+B LPs during his tenure at Hospital Records and has remixed the likes of Ed Sheeran, Rusko, Jessie J, Plan B, Dua Lipa, Swedish House Mafia and countless more.
His accolades include a BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix, which was nominated for ‘Mix Of The Year’ in 2010, a ground-breaking and impressive live show which toured globally, and a brace of Top 30 LPs in the UK, with both hitting #1 spot in Belgium. Having performed headline spots at Tomorrowland, Let It Roll, SW4, Reading & Leeds, Printworks and Ultra Music Festival amongst many others, and toured across 6 continents with both a live show and his DJ production, few can match Netsky’s extensive and high level touring schedule.
With this single, the sound that so many fell in love with has now returned, and with the future in his eyes with a broader project on the horizon, the best is still yet to come.
‘10 years ago, Hospital Records gave me an opportunity that changed my life and released my first album. In that 10 years I’ve been lucky enough to release 2 more albums, many singles and EP’s and toured all over the world. I’ve been blessed to work with amazing artists, producers and writers and experiment with different genres and influences. Over the last year I have found myself naturally coming back to producing Drum & Bass, and made perfect sense to me to release it with the label where it all began back in 2010. I can’t wait for everyone to hear what we’ve been working on, and I’m excited to kick it all off with this single.’ – Netsky.
‘I’m delighted to be working on a brand new record with Netsky, especially in the 10 year anniversary of his Hospital debut. Boris has always been family to us, and his music is a special feature of our (almost) 25 year long catalogue… we can’t wait to unveil his brand new drum & bass in the coming months.” – Chris Goss (Co-founder of Hospital Records).
Lockimara is a band of absolute units hailing from the icy hot annals of Montreal DIY. Fixated on using music as an outlet for fantasy world building; Lockimara mixes odd rhythms, simple melodies, and dreamy campfire storytelling as they blend together mantras of pop, folk, shoegaze, and math rock. They’re rising stars, hurling music into the void, hungry for the acclaim they rightfully deserve. But you be the judge, buster! Check out “Bullet,” one half of their new double single Dog Bite, releasing March 30th, 2020 on the Homie Shit Mag label. That is, if you’ve got the guts.
Dog Bite was recorded by Alex Bingham in the basement of an apartment in Rosemont, Montreal over the course of three days. Album art was illustrated by Ore (@ore_ore_ore), additional vocals performed by Artemis Walden.
Description of track one, Bullet, by singer Nick Gay:
This song is a narrative that is based on a fascination I have with World War Two and conflict in general. The lyrics take the listener to occupied France, where a boy waits for German soldiers to find him after his sister has failed to come back to their hideout in the woods. The song attempts to capture the internal struggle of the boy as he decides to fight back, despite his sister having told him not to before she left. I look forward to hearing what you think!
Quotes from the band:
“When I was writing the drum parts, I did my best to play something for the kids who need a little extra power in their life,” says Luca Caruso-Moro, Lockimara’s drummer. “Kids get bullied, pushed around. It’s hard to grow up.”
“My guitar is my sword and my voice forms my battle cries. Every show is an arena and every song a dance between me and my fellow warriors as we best our foes.” Nick Gay, Singer of Lockimara
“I woke up one day and I was just like… Damn I’m a bass player. You know growing up I always wanted to play guitar, but now I play bass. hahaha some would call that losing, but personally, I think I won that lottery.
“Swing for the fences kid, it don’t matter if you got an angel in the outfield or a devil on your shoulder. All that matters is that you play to win, and you play for keeps.” Jack Paisley, lead guitarist of Lockimara to himself in the mirror before the big show.”

Minister for Regional Development Jaclyn Symes welcomed the announcement of the Delivered, Live Streaming Festival with a host of music and comedy acts streaming live performances to regional communities all over Australia.

I’m James and I guess I’m the face of A Choir of Ghosts. The band changes now and then depending on where we’re going or what we’re doing, but I’m always here. I play guitar and sing and write the music.
I’m based in northern Sweden about a 5 hour drive south of the Arctic Circle. The music that comes out of Sweden is great but I think the music scene has a lot to learn from the rest of the world. I grew up in England and a lot of people would go out and see bands they’ve never heard of just because they like music, it doesn’t quite feel the same here. It’s hard for small and unknown acts to get a look in. I’ve been really lucky finding a great fan base in Östersund, and we’ve been given kind of a home in that town at a venue called jazzköket.
My first experience of playing music was when I was about 12 and me and some guys from school started a band called Docile Delinquents and played stuff like The Offspring, Incubus, AC/DC etc. I loved that time of my life, figuring out my love for music and my need to know more and play more.
For me personally not so much, I haven’t been on tour since last May, I’m actually starting to get tour withdrawals. I was supposed to start my album tour next week (April 3rd) but that all got cancelled, I’m still supposed to go to Germany in May but I’m not sure if that’s gonna happen either.
Mainly I’ve been writing music for the next album, working out ways round the corona crisis and spending time with the family.
What influenced the sound and songwriting for your new album ‘An Ounce Of Gold’?
Some of the songs on the album were written over 10 years ago. The whole album is a story of my last 10 years and how I’ve grown. Like Sinner in Rapture is the oldest song on the album and is about teenage years and feeling like you’ve been given this promise that the world is at your feet but it couldn’t be further from the truth. The Water is about my son and how it felt when he was born. I was in the room when he was born and I remember this huge feeling of surfing and getting to that point where the wave takes you out. Everything I knew had changed and for the first 10 seconds I thought I was drowning. And then the last song The Taste or Smoke is about touring and me developing asthma and spending 2 years without medicine. I guess it’s like The Best of my Diary kinda thing with this album. It’s so personal and means a huge deal to me.
How has your life in the woods of Northern Sweeden affected your musicWell, I don’t think I would play folk music if I lived in a city, if you look at my Spotify it’s a lot of punk and black metal, so I think if I was to live in Stockholm I’d probably play something like that.
But I live in a village with 20 people, 20km to the next village, and 180km to a city. So it’s not the easiest finding a band, the band I play with now live 2 hours down a gravel track in the other direction! The woods has definitely calmed me, inspired me to love the planet more. A Choir of Ghosts is definitely a product of the wilderness, it would have never happened without it.
How did you go about writing the music?
Each song was different, sometimes I have a hook and build from that, or I have some lyrics and figure out the music around that, or I’ll have some music start humming a melody and then write music to that. I’ve started experimenting more with different things now, I feel like An Ounce of Gold was my safe card, I didn’t wanna get too weird on my first album. But now I’m writing new stuff that’s still on the folk lines but pushing the boundaries a bit.
Where and when did you record/produce and who with?
So we recorded in a hippie commune in a house we borrowed during forest fire season 2018. The producer I work with is Terry Ben and he flew in from Canada to record the album with me. It was pretty magical, we just lived there for 2 weeks, had some friends over, drank too much and just enjoyed our time together. I was actually going through a really low point and I have to give it to Terry, he managed to pick me up everyday and help me through it.
Who are you listening to at the moment?
I’m listening to a lot of Black Metal for some reason, but I’ve refound my love for Tallest Man on Earth, Charlie Simpson, GOAT and Swedish band Euskefeurat.
What do you like to do away from music?
I’m in a bit of a slump when it comes to hobbies right now. I work quite a lot and I’m pretty stressed about the album. But generally I love to DIY and to read. Hopefully soon I’ll find the calm in my life to able to enjoy hobbies, every day off is filled with things I need to do so alone time or time to do things I want to do has been kinda forgotten about.
What’s planned for 2020?
I think with COVID-19 there won’t be that much to do, I don’t think this will be over soon. I’m gonna use this time for self growth, writing, reading, being with my family and hopefully finding that tranquility that allows me to take up my other hobbies again.
Favourite food and place to hangout?
I love this bar in Östersund called Jazzköket och Lagerbaren, the food is to die for, they have the best selection of beer and ale, and the people working there are the best!

Glaswegian Power House Soma front new Label, Avoidant & announce next release from Kronos Device
Soma continues to push the boundaries as they announce a new electro sub-label Avoidant – designed to push dynamic and diverse sonics from across the globe. Already with 6 releases under its belt from duo CYRK, Scottish new blood PinballSpider and Autonomous, future stars Syrte & Confluence their roster is steadily growing with fresh talent.
For the label’s next release and its first on vinyl, Kronos Device return in fine form for their first EP in four years ‘The Infinite Ones’ with a bass-heavy, BPM busting electronic gem; synonymous with their sound. Simon Brown (aka Dexorcist) and Phil Klein (aka Bass Junkie) joined forces in 2001 after pre-establishing themselves as major names in the underground scene.
Hyperqub3 throws the listener into a the deep-end sonically with funked up beats and electrostatic vocals slicing through gut-pounding bass that drives through the heart and instantly increases the bounce – all held together by hyperspatial SFX.
Track 2 delves into more heady, cerebral sounds. The title track of the EP, The Infinite Ones’ ripping synth sequences, dramatic pads and pulsing vocal riff is a supremely-produced nod to the duos versatility.
The EP culminates with Control – heavy distortion makes the 808 bass work hard, while robotic overtones and formidable synths command the track. The Infinite Ones is an expertly produced electronic EP that undoubtedly proves Kronos Device as pioneers of the genre.
Avoidant Records, said: “Since starting the avoidant label, Kronos Device were the first names to pop into our head for a release – their extreme bass heavy, fast BPM, unique 808 electro style was something we felt suited our labels sound perfectly and have always held them in high regard.”

And if you missed it last month, watch Dana’s video for the album’s title track “Yesterday Is Gone” filmed in the colourful and retro underground of Montreal’s metro system. https://youtu.be/8xM8SJrxYeI
By turns break-up album, project of curiosity, and, as Dana puts it, “a reckoning with myself,” Yesterday Is Gone is an album of longing and devotion to longing, and of the uncertainty that arises from learning about oneself, of pushing boundaries, falling hard, and getting back up. Moments of beguilement splinter a backdrop of tenderly picked guitar, bass, synth, and poppier elements, which commune to produce her own kind of wall of sound. Each component is meticulously placed, yielding a deeply sincere response to the chaos of human emotion.
Yesterday Is Gone was co-produced between Dana, Toronto-based musician Sam Gleason, and Mike Lindsay (Tunng and LUMP w/ Laura Marling). While Sam helped Dana bring out the tunes, Mike’s input marked the beginning of developing Dana’s sound. The two kept stripped it down to the essentials, keeping things bare and letting the songs speak for themselves. The album shapeshifted as it passed through the hands of Dana, Sam, and Mike, taking on different tastes, feelings, and visions. When Dana performed the songs with a band, they found new form again. She was intrigued by performers like David Bowie and Aldous Harding, who inhabit different personalities on stage, physically tuning themselves to their music.
“Often we have to go a little far in one direction to learn something about ourselves,” Dana says. The months of solitary writing and self-doubt testify to this, but they’ve led to Yesterday Is Gone: an optimistic, steely-eyed gaze into the future.

After stumbling into virality with their tribute to Essendon footy star, ‘Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti’, the Picket Palace boys have released their latest track ‘No Fun Intended’ via Daily Nightly Records.
Inspired by the desire to revert back to a child in times of anxiety, ‘No Fun Intended’ doesn’t stray from the playful, chaotic & distinctly Australian sound the boys are known for.
“Anxiety makes you so worked up about everything that you aren’t really able to effectively deal with anything and you regress into a useless little baby. I wanted to play with how grotesque and stupid that transformation is,” says lead singer Seamus O’Connell.
The song features a running lyric only Australians would understand, “yeah, nah.” It’s contradictory yet we don’t question it, because we understand what it means without having to define it. Seamus explains he incorporated the line because “it calls back to the franticness and indecisiveness of anxiety and circular thinking.”
This release signifies the Picket Palace boys coming into their own, solidifying their sound outside of The Footy Record they became known for.
PICKET PALACE
Birthed and nurtured in a sweaty loft apartment above a picket fence workshop in Brunswick, Picket Palace crank out razor-sharp punk belters and anxious, rambling reflections with an enthusiasm that is innocent, unpretentious and completely infectious. Urgent, punchy rhythms underpin distinctive, angular guitar lines and lyrics so honest and guileless that you’ll feel like the band have set your own half drunken conversations to music.
The boys soared to virality after releasing the highly animated film clip for ‘Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti’ which has since garnered half a million views respectively, plucking the boys out of Melbourne’s underground garage-rock scene and into national consciousness.
Their follow up record, aptly named ‘The Footy Record’, began almost as a joke – a couple affectionate punk rock tribute to the band’s favourite footballers, written mostly to amuse themselves. But once they introduced a couple of those tracks into their live set everyone fell in love with their raucous, ridiculous energy, and the band realised they were too good to be wasted as unheralded throwaways.
Recent performances include a slot on the main stage of the sold out Beyond The Valley festival over new years, alongside a sold out headline show at Northcote Social Club last September. Their live show is an exuberant, exhilarating trip that is somehow both ferociously energetic and sincerely heartwarming — an adorable riot, not to be missed…
“Every song is charming, genuine and covered in an endearing sense of irresponsibility – making Picket Palace the kind of band you’d love to see rip up a stage on a Friday night then eavesdrop on afterwards in the beer garden.” – Trouble Juice
“You could have easily assumed after the Tipungwuti hit that these guys were a bit novelty, but they’ve proven the goods again with garage rock that stands up in the heat of the contest.” – Declan Byrne (Triple J).
