Naarm/Melbourne-based funk-pop artist Zachary Leo has just announced his exciting new EP, out Friday, June 14. Accompanying this announcement is his latest single off the record, ‘On My Mind‘ – produced and mixed by Tobias Priddle and mastered by Pieter De Wagter.

‘On My Mind’ erupts with pulsating bass grooves and soul-drenched vocals, enveloped in the velvety embrace of plush pads that effortlessly intertwine funk, jazz and rock. Vintage synthesisers punctuate the arrangement, injecting a burst of dynamism, while the chorus ascends with precision, adorned with crisp, staccato harmonies and intricate picking patterns.

Zachary Leo talks about the inspiration behind ‘On My Mind’:

“‘On My Mind’ is about trying to reach out to someone close to you to tell them something is wrong but struggling to find the words to explain how you are feeling. The song’s meaning is backed by an upbeat disco/pop-style groove that contradicts the lyrical theme. It kind of represents how I go about my day-to-day life; inside, I am struggling, and on the outside, I am full of beans and ready to take on the day.”

To celebrate the release of the upcoming EP, Zachary Leo will be performing at The Bergy Bandroom in Naarm/Melbourne. In the live arena, Zachary has previously shared the stage with acts such as Cub Sport, Thirsty Merc, Pacific Avenue, Great Gable, Big Words and The Moving Stills, along with multiple sold–out headline shows.

Previous tracks have been supported by the likes of triple j, triple j Unearthed and Australian community radio stations such as FBi Radio, 2SER, SYN Media, 3RRR and 4ZZZ. In the online space, releases have also seen support from Backseat Mafia, Beat Magazine, MILKY, Music Feeds, Pilerats, The Australian Music Scene and The AU Review. His previous music video for ‘Pretty Girl‘ was also added to MTV Upload.
