US funk legends Zapp announce their first-ever Australian headline shows this December, presented by Astral People and Handsome Tours
Following their sold-out appearance at the Meredith Festival, Zapp will be hitting Sydney and Melbourne for two special performances. Pre-sale starts this Thursday, Oct 3, at 10am local time, with general on-sale from Friday, Oct 4, at 10am. Full ticketing information is provided below.
Hailing from Dayton, Ohio, Zapp is a family band known for their funky, high-energy sound that’s perfect for dancing and good times. Having pioneered a new era of funk since the 1970s, Zapp’s music has left an indelible mark on the genre. Led by Parliament-Funkadelic protégés Lester and Terry “Zapp” Troutman, they continue to uphold the legacy of their late brother, the legendary Roger Troutman.
The band is famous for hits like More Bounce To The Ounce, Computer Love, So Ruff, So Tuff, I Can Make You Dance, and Doo Wa Ditty (Blow That Thing). Zapp’s distinctive sound, complete with their custom-made talk box, remains iconic, influencing artists from T-Pain to Daft Punk. Their music has also been foundational to West Coast Hip Hop’s “G-Funk” sound, sampled by artists like Dr. Dre, 2Pac, Snoop Dogg, and Jay Z.
