“I’m liking how there’s some dreamy sorta slacker sounds to go with your catchy and ferocious punk elements. big one!”
[About ‘Where’s My Mind Been?’]
(Declan Byrne, Triple J)
“The interjecting vocal yelps really brought this one to life. Living up to its name of fire and ice type too.” (Dave Ruby Howe, Triple J)“A slowburn of an indie punk track, combining some really nice sonic elements! Can defs sense that Weezer influence, we love to hear it.”
4 / 5 stars (Pip Rasmussen, Triple J)

“With each and every one of their tracks, the Adelaide based alt-rockers have struck gold, leaving us to seriously question just what magic tricks they have up their sleeves.” (Hysteria Mag)“A slow tempo, anthemic number that gives the parting middle finger salute to an ex-partner moving out.” (Heavy Mag)

“Nocturnal Animals pack a punch with their raw alt-rock/punk sound” (Aus Music Scene)

Known for their high-voltage grunge-pop anthems oozing with unapologetic punk-rock power, Adelaide alt-rockers Nocturnal Animals are releasing their ferocious new single ‘Dancing In The Blood’ (out April 29).

With their raw, propelling punk anthems doused in just the right amount of angst, Nocturnal Animals aren’t sleeping on the job, with the new track ‘Dancing In The Blood’ marking their second release of the year following dreamy punk puncher ‘Where’s My Mind Been?’.

Now, ‘Dancing In The Blood’ thrusts forward, dripping with visceral bass lines, frenzied electric guitar riffs and accelerating drums, the track pulsing with an energy that would make ravers of the 90s reach for their light-up goggles. Paying homage to Blink-182, Nocturnal Animals’ distinctive emo-punk infused vocals are shared between two band members, strengthening the inflection of the verse as it moves into an addictive chorus bleeding with anthemic grunge-pop hooks.

Equipped with a red-blooded instrumental breakdown featuring intensely building drums and driving guitar solos, ‘Dancing In The Blood’ screams to be played surrounded by moshpit enthusiasts past and present.

The first song that the band have ever written from a jamming sesh, ‘Dancing In The Blood’ explores the sexual tension induced dance that two people play as they thrust for connection, as the band explain:

“The song is about the raw and fleeting feeling of passion that comes from the endorphins as you play the push and pull act of hollow intimacy, both people knowing it isn’t forever but nevertheless making them feel comforted in the entanglement of one and other’s bodies.”

Nocturnal Animals are continuing to make a name for themselves, most recently supporting DZ Deathrays and seeing support for previous releases from Triple J, Triple J Unearthed, Hysteria Mag, AAA Backstage, Punktuation Mag, Heavy Mag, The Faction, Aus Music Scene, Scenestr, Moody Music Blog, Eat This Music, Radio Adelaide, 3RRR, idobi Radio and more.

Bleeding with punkish power, Nocturnal Animals’ new single ‘Dancing In The Blood’ is out on April 29.
