Western Sydney’s Kymie releases an impressive debut video for ‘NEEDS’ today after turning heads and breaking hearts across the country following the single’s release in October. Premiering on tastemaker site Cool Accidents, the video sees Kymie telling the world how it is alongside a bad-ass Jeep and a landscape of Cronulla’s sandy planes underneath a setting sun.
Following its premiere on triple j’s Good Nights last month ‘NEEDS’ scored multiple spot plays andan add on triple j Unearthed and FBi Radio. Taking off online, the track landed on Spotify AU/NZ’s New Music Friday, All Aussie Hip Hip and Indie Arrivals. Apple Music backed the release on Best of weekand The A List: R&B and most recently added it to The New Australia with a debut on Beats 1. All of this combined with a myriad of blog love from across the digital sphere.
Kymie channels the sensual attitude of ‘NEEDS’ onto a visual that oozes an unparalleled confident sass. Directed by Risers Media, the dreamy beach locations are romanticised with pretty filters and glitch effects that completely fit with the song’s cool demeanour. “The NEEDS MV is strong, powerful and super playful, giving the audience an extra piece of how i was feeling when I wrote the track” says KYMIE.
