SUPPORT FOR ‘CRITICAL HIT’

“Big, distorted guitars, pummelling drums and a low slung bassline, with the vocal hook ‘I’ll bring you back to the menu soundtrack’ sure to be stuck in your head before the first listen is over.”
Pilerats (AUS)

Boorloo/Perth-based nu metal band Indigo Blaze have just revealed their new single ‘CRITICAL HIT‘ – produced and mixed by Matt Templeman (Make Them Suffer, Voyager, Sly Withers).

‘CRITICAL HIT’ is a fiery exemplar of vigorous nu metal, emphasised by walls of rhythmic distorted guitars and the distinctive delivery of lead vocalist Rhys Gahan. A dynamic mix helps the interplay between more instrumentally reserved verses and the titanic, riff-heavy choruses, creating a raucous live energy.

The band talk about the inspiration behind recording ‘CRITICAL HIT’:

“Lyrically, the track comments on believing in yourself even when others don’t and being determined to push through and fight back the critics. As always, though, with Rhys’ unique style of wordcraft with some video game references thrown in. ‘Bring you back to the menu soundtrack’ – calls out to the old arcade days when you beat your opponent. All in all, for us, this song is a sly and not too serious shot back at the critics who doubt what we’ve been creating when the crowd and vibe we generate at our shows say different.”

In the live arena, the band have sold out multiple hometown headline shows and supported the likes of Gyroscope, Ocean Grove, The Southern River Band, Late 90s and SHANGRILA.

Previous singles have seen support from Spotify and Apple Music, as well as online tastemakers Pilerats, MILKY, HEAVY Mag, Hardbeat (UK) and Illustrate Magazine (UK). They’ve also received radio love from the likes of triple j, Double J, triple j Unearthed and Australian community stations FBi, RTR, 4ZZZ, Radio Adelaide and Aussie Music Weekly.

Taking cues from luminaires Limp Bizkit and Beastie Boys, Indigo Blaze has quickly created a fervent fanbase through their electric live shows. The band explain, “Our first mixtapes had tracks influenced by classic rock, disco funk, indie and electronic, but as we started playing shows, our heavier roots couldn’t be denied, and the nu-metal influence we’ve since fully embraced came to be. We pride ourselves on our live show energy; no matter the crowd or the show, we give everything we have. We are a group of blue-collar lads from the working-class suburbs of Perth, and we make our music for those who want to let their hair down a bit and get a little silly.”
