Having been ensconced in the studio recording new material for 2019, leftfield electronic DJ / producer Henri is pleased to announce details of two quality remixes by New York-based duo Sofi Tukker and London’s deep house talent Kincaid for her new track “Last Dance” featuring Imogen Rose.
She says: “Sofi Tukker and I have been talking about collaborating for a while now, since meeting at a New York club where I was DJing a few years ago. Tukker even came into the studio with me to work on one of the previous incarnations of ‘Last Dance’. Though the music we release is very different, we share a love of club culture and it’s been great to hear how their minimal, almost gothic interpretation has ended up having its own identity. Their staccato melody, driving drums & rolling bassline adds an ethereal feel to the vocals that takes the track to a completely different place. Kincaid did a remix for one of my previous tracks a few years ago and I’ve been following his career ever since. His take on ‘Last Dance’ is charmingly experimental and intricately produced which is what he’s always so good at. His downtempo take on the track is scattered with vocal snippets and delays, eerie pads and loud, almost out of tune computer game synth bleeps”.
Following her release on Anjunadeep earlier this year, DJ, producer and songwriter Henri recently returned with “Last Dance.” The track is laced with cinematic emotion with the ethereal Imogen Rose’s piercingly high, haunting vocal hook reminiscent of a war cry. Beginning with a classical dark, moody piano arpeggio, “Last Dance” constantly vacillates between tension and release, driven by thumping beats, synth stabs and melodic percussive builds. It is both sexual and foreboding, the last dance between two lovers and also our last dance with the world we are so successfully destroying. “The visuals of Lars Von Trier’s film ‘Melancholia’ mirror the sentiment I envisioned when writing the song”, says Henri. “It’s deceivingly beautiful while simultaneously about the end of the world.”
Over the last few years up-and-coming London-based DJ, Henri, has been fine-tuning her remixing and production skills, having reached number two on Hype Machine with her melodic house remix of Flight Facilities’ “Two Bodies”, releasing “Sunshine of Your Love” on Armada Deep last year and “Hiding” on Anjunadeep earlier this year.
