I love the idea that I can make songs for her that she can listen to throughout her lifetime, with ‘Guiding Light‘ being the first. For the production, I wanted to make a record that transported back to that UK radio sound I started out in. But, at the same time, I also wanted to challenge the big, uplifting dance track formula with Godfather-like strings and invigorating techno drives that I’ve been vibing with lately. Newman‘s career as a singer, songwriter, DJ, and producer began in 2012 with his UK number-one hit “Feel The Love” with Rudimental. He then launched his solo career with the global record-breaking single “Love Me Again,” which debuted at number one in the UK Official charts and went on to hit the Top 10 in over 30 countries, amassing 1,6B streams worldwide. For a kid who grew up on a council estate in a small Northern English town DJing on borrowed gear, Newman was shattering his boundaries to success from the start.
