‘Busted Up’ the brand new dispatch from WA’s The Southern River Band – out November 27th, 2020 – finds leader Cal Kramer & Co in fighting form. Distilling the global frustration of this annus horribilis into a youthful riffing hedonistic shout along, Kramer takes his capacity to write damn good, radio ready rock a shot beyond, nailing the Oz rock anthem of the summer.
The Southern River Band know about goddamned isolation all too well, feeling the effects of the last eight months harder than trying to cross state lines.
Starting 2020 off the same way they finished 2019, supporting Cold Chisel in front of over 20,000 new fans, the band from Thornlie (where? Exactly) promptly followed that up with show stealing performances at Sugarloaf Rock Festival, Illuminate Night Festival, and Highway To Hell. Later they supported The Darkness on their sold out national tour, gathering thousands more new SRBandits (it’ll catch on) all over the country, before being knocked cleanly off of their high horse in March.
Boredom quickly took hold, then frustration, and lastly a moment of sheer inspiration found deep at the bottom of an $11 bottle of Merlot. A moment in time, perfectly captured in song form.
The Southern River Band will launch ‘Busted Up’ across WA throughout November and December.
