Australian rock outfit Ocean Alley kick off their highly anticipated run of shows tonight in Far North Queensland as part of Cairns Summer Sounds, before launching their own national tour next week. After two years of COVID-related postponements, the band have today announced that Hockey Dad will replace Psychedelic Porn Crumpets as main tour supports.

Final tickets for all Queensland dates on sale from oceanalley.com.au.

Due to Western Australian border restrictions, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets can no longer join the 11-date tour, and will only perform at the Perth show which has been postponed until May 28. In their place, Windang’s favourite surf-rock duo Hockey Dad have stepped up to the plate and will cover all cities except Adelaide and Perth; with Sydney indie-rockers Le Shiv jumping onboard for the former. Indie-pop sweethearts Dulcie remain on support duties for all dates.

As a result of state restrictions following the Omicron outbreak, all Sydney and Adelaide dates will now operate as seated shows – this means capacity has been reduced and some ticket-holders will be reallocated to a different date. Ticket buyers are advised to check their emails next week for confirmation of which date their tickets are now valid for. Date swaps may be possible pending ticket availability; otherwise tickets can be safely resold via the Tixel marketplace or a full refund obtained from the respective ticketing outlet. All other cities remain unchanged.

The upcoming tour has sold more than 30,000 tickets around the country with 7 sold out shows, and comes fresh following the six-piece’s latest Hottest 100 success, landing two tracks for 2021 – their latest summery single ‘Touch Back Down‘ charting at #20 and #54 with their Pink Floyd medley that was covered for Like A Version. This feat marks five consecutive years in the countdown, with 10 different songs placing during that time.

Ahead of their return to the stage, the band recently connected with journalist Tony Armstrong for a yarn that covers getting back on the road, what they’ve missed about touring, new music and what’s planned for 2022. Watch Part 1 here.

From Northern Beaches dive bars to sold out international tours, Ocean Alley’s evolution has been driven by an endless pursuit to push their sound and abilities to new limits. Operating as a proudly independent band, their output has always been underscored by a refreshingly chilled authenticity and relatability that has seen them achieve more than 480 million catalogue streams.

Since the release of their Gold-certified breakthrough Chiaroscuro (2018) which saw the band take the #1 spot in triple j’s Hottest 100 of 2018 for their double platinum smash ‘Confidence’, the six-piece have performed major festivals including Reading & Leeds (UK), Splendour In The Grass (AUS) and Sziget (HU), debuted at #3 on the ARIA charts for their critically acclaimed 2020 album Lonely Diamond, have received Gold certification on five singles and been nominated for 2 ARIA Awards.
