Mount Druitt-based artist Kapulet shares his new song, ‘Up Now’. Produced by Willstah (Ariana Grande, Ella Mai, ONEFOUR) and engineered, mixed and mastered by Iamsolo, the track is another taste of his effortless afro swing. LISTEN + WATCH HERE.
Of the track he shares, “The song is about how people change. When you’re broke or when life feels stagnant and when nothing is working out, no one seems to be around but when things start coming together and money, success or lifestyle then that’s when people start showing up.”
Since first arriving with the Spenny14 assisted ‘Phone My Line’, a release two years in the making, Kapulet has patiently worked behind the scenes, creating, writing and recording alongside family and friends. It’s no secret that Western Sydney is bursting at the seams with creativity, and for Kapulet, sharing music that is both authentically representative of where he comes from, while still giving his community a chance to enjoy pure, unadulterated fun, is paramount. On the surface, his music indulges in the happy-go-lucky, but beneath, Kapulet shares messages of resilience and relationships with character, laced in scintillating head-bopping production.
‘Up Now’ is the third track to come from the Western Sydney rapper whose debut turned heads, landing the rapper the #6 trending music video on Youtube, racking up well over 100,000 views in the first five days. ‘Phone My Line‘ now sits at over 3 million online streams, and together with ‘Same Ones‘, has received rotation on triple j, Unearthed and FBi Radio, alongside support from Rolling Stone, NME, Red Bull Music, Filter Zine, and more. The best part? Kapulet is only just getting started.
