Melbourne pop artist Lakelend finally shares his second single ‘Supernova’, a nostalgic yet contrastingly futuristic project detailing the immediate intensity of falling in love.
Combining electronic beats, synthesised strings and Lakelend‘s honest vocals, ‘Supernova’ traverses through the feelings of uncertainty which is sonically juxtaposed by the overall upbeat tune of the single.
“Sometimes that new person falls into your lap when you least expect it. A breath of fresh air. Something that you haven’t experienced before”, Lakelend explains. “I was all in. Never in my life had I experienced a love for someone that built up so incredibly quickly. I think it’s only human to return love and affection if it’s received well and is something you’re capable of giving back. In hindsight there were certain moments that I was blind to everything happening around me. My close friends, my family and even my own goals and ambitions. I don’t regret it, but I’m just being honest,” details Lakelend.
Lakelend‘s previous debut single ‘Fall Down’ received high acclaim, sitting at nearly 134k streams on Spotify alone on top of praise from Australian tastemakers including Project U, auspOp ThomasBleach and more. The track also received its first play via triple j Unearthed TOPS, and landed on Spotify’s Pop ‘N Fresh and Come Thru just days after its release. Lakelend has spent the last two years collaborating with renowned producers Cam Bluff (Amy Shark, Illy, Hilltop Hoods, Allday), Xavier Dunn (Peking Duk, Graace, Jack River) and the MSquared team Michael Paynter & Michael DeLorenzis (Aloe Blacc, CXLOE) who have helped craft his distinct sound.
The single drops alongside a visualiser and to follow Lakelend will be releasing a new video clip in weeks to come.
So jump on board and take flight with Lakelend as ‘Supernova’ is only chapter two of the promising new artist. Stay tuned for more, coming soon.
