Today, marinelli, the moniker of LA based artist David Marinelli, shares a new song and video for ‘Pity Party’ – which premiered on The Zane Lowe Show overnight – alongside the announcement of his upcoming EP Funny Bone.

Born from processing deep emotions, the singer-songwriter and producer unveils his self-written & produced new cut ‘Pity Party’. Sharing more on the track, marinelli explained: “Pity Party is a song about being extroverted to a debilitating degree – I wrote it last April when I was having to deal with not seeing my friends. I did a lot of reflecting on my social habits around then and decided that I didn’t have to let social anxiety rule my life anymore, and because of that this song will always be special to me!!”

The LA-based singer-songwriter-producer and musician extraordinaire has had a hand in a myriad of releases over the last few years – from being Billie Eillish’s original drummer through to producing much-hyped new projects like Spill Tab, Wallice, Australia’s Evangaline, and viral music lord Lonely God. Hell, he even scored a Subway commercial that aired during the Olympics.

Earlier in 2020 though (before everything went to sh*t) he stepped out on his own for the first time as a solo artist – and since then he has released the super fun combination of singles, ‘Turtleneck Sweater,’ ‘Candy Cigarette’, ‘Halloween’ (his first release with Australia & NZ label partner Dew Process), ‘Christmas’, and ‘Oh God’ – quickly garnering the support of extremely listenable playlists, racking up collectively over 4 million streams, and landing him on the cover of Spotify’s ‘Lorem’ playlist.

Fast forward a year and marinelli continues to produce for other artists’ projects, focused on bringing the personality of the individual project into the production, all while he rolls out his debut EP. Written and produced almost entirely by himself, the EP battles feelings that are all-too-familiar to most of us; such as loneliness, emptiness and being forgotten.
