ANNOUNCING ITS SECOND LINE-UP
ICONIC FESTIVAL COMES OF AGE
19-22 MAY 2022, GOLD COAST
Headliners James Morrison Motown Experience, Robben Ford (US) and R.L. Boyce (US) are being joined by Karise Eden, Osaka Monaurail (Japan), Blue Empress All-Stars, Matty T Wall, and many more, in a 2022 line-up, you won’t want to miss.
This extraordinary collection of international and national artists will take to the stage on the Gold Coast over four days from 19-22 May.
Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate highlighted a ray of sunshine: “It’s been a tough couple of weeks for SE Queensland and other parts of the east coast with the recent floods so it’s nice to be sharing some good news, and music certainly has a way of putting a smile on people’s faces and bringing us together.”
“We’re so excited for this year’s Blues on Broadbeach Music Festival, and by the looks of the artist line-up, 2022 is going to be bigger and better than ever.
“I can’t wait to dust off the boots and get down to Broadbeach in May to enjoy this four-day celebration of blues music and I hope to see all of you there.”
Festival Director, Mark Duckworth said this year’s Blues on Broadbeach is all about returning to its roots: “We want to continue to bring our festival fans a collection of artists which celebrate all the different music styles in the Blues genre as well as a few surprises.”
“It is so important to us that we bring out not just the big names, but those artists that are true to the festival and represent the very best of what Blues music has to offer. With our international borders finally open again, we’re excited to welcome to our stages some truly incredible international artists and some unique performances which you won’t see anywhere else and won’t want to miss.”
We know Karise Eden’s voice can move a nation. We know that the celebrated Blues songbird’s performances are powerful, engrossing, and bold. So, we know that she is going to fit right into the Blues on Broadbeach bill, and we are thrilled to welcome her to the renowned Gold Coast stage in May.
“I’m so excited to be able to perform in the flesh at Blues on Broadbeach, after the digital-only performance for Bandwidth in 2020,” said Karise.
“Our industry, artists, venues, crew, and people across all areas of this sector have been so greatly affected by the pandemic so, to be able to return to play live in 2022 is such a lift to the spirits.
“For my performance, I will be backed by a full live band for the first time in what feels like forever! I am also thrilled to be launching my forthcoming album ‘Into the Black’ at the festival, which Blues on Broadbeach attendees will get a full exclusive live preview of. It’s going to be a great time – I can’t wait to see everyone there!”
The sensational Osaka Monaurail is Japan’s premiere funk orchestra, ready to make waves on Australia’s shores at Blues on Broadbeach.
With their sharp suits, synchronised routines, and powerful horn section, Osaka Monaurail will have feet movin’ and hips shakin’ from the moment they hit the stage.
With more than 120 national and international awards between them for their individual performances and recordings, they are a force to be reckoned with!
From the Classic Era of the great 1920s Blues women, they take you on a road trip from the vintage to the contemporary. Whatever your style of Blues, you’ll hear it from these artists. Don’t get fooled into thinking this is a Blues cover band, it’s not! Virtuoso performance and original songwriting has marked the careers of all these artists, and now they bring it all to the Bandstand.
“With Blue Empress All-Stars, we’ve curated a rare collaboration. We’ve put together a group of award-winning, remarkable women, all of whom are respected band leaders in their own right. That’s one of the truly exciting things about playing a major festival like Blues on Broadbeach – the opportunity to put together a special act, something you just can’t see every day!” enthused Fiona Boyes.
Along with already announced Dave Hole, here comes more of the best from the West (now that they can actually travel out of the State) with the Matty T Wall band poised to slay the Blues on Broadbeach stages more motivated and addictively electric than ever with two killer rhythm legends of the Perth scene, Ric Whittle on the drums and Leigh Miller on bass guitar.
From sweet blues to gritty, stomping, blues-rocking beats, and now having seen nominations and awards across Australia and the USA, this is a breakout Australian blues artist you do not want to miss seeing!
