Canadian country artist Lisa Nicole is proud to share her newest single and music video “Wait on Me”, which is newly available on all digital platforms and was released to Canadian radio on February 10th.
“Wait on Me” – written in Nashville by Lisa Nicole, Jason Thomas, and Dave Pahanish – is the debut single from her 2020 fall album, Where the Wild Hearts Beat, and her first collaboration with CCMA award-winning producer Jeff Johnson. Cliff Hokanson directed the accompanying music video, which was released on February 5th.
This is the first single for the Canadian singer – originally from Castlegar, British Columbia – since she moved to Nashville for the spring and summer of 2018 to add fuel to her creative fire.

Your heart can want – and have – both. ‘Wait on Me’ is about making the bold choice to follow through on your dreams, but also build a future with someone you love anywhere and anytime – regardless of obstacles.”
The move to Music City connected Lisa Nicole and her longtime guitar player Thomas with Nashville hitmaker Pahanish (Keith Urban, Toby Keith). Her long-distance relationship with a Canadian partner back home proved to be the catalyst that inspired the trio to pen “Wait on Me”.
The choice to uproot from the Kootenays to Nashville was greatly inspired by a transformative and serendipitous 2017 moment for Lisa Nicole – winner of the 2015 Music BC/BC Country Music Association Artist Development Project – when she visited Nashville for a songwriting trip. Encouraged to see a pop-up concert by Keith Urban, she arrived with her 2016 EP in hand, only to end up on stage by night’s end to sing an impromptu duet of “We Were Us” with the superstar.
Following her extended stay in Nashville in 2018, Lisa Nicole returned to Canada with heaps of inspiration and a wealth of new material. Since then, she has joined forces with producer Jeff Johnson (Meghan Patrick, Chris Buck Band) to record her first full-length album, Where the Wild Hearts Beat – boasting a commercial country sound with an infusion of rock and pop. “Wait on Me” is the first gift from this collaboration. The album will drop this fall.

![Where are you currently based and what is the music scene like there? I'm currently in Perth Australia and I have to say I am proud of the music scene right now. I really feel like 2020 is our time, a lot of great talent over this way and it's starting to slowly get recognised on a much bigger scale outside of our city. How did you first start playing music/DJing? A few years ago I started throwing these huge house parties and didn't want other people fucking the vibe with their selections. So I thought, I'll just DJ them myself. Someone happened to see me play and offered me my first club gig. I remember him saying "You've played in clubs before, right?!" and I was like "yeah of course bro!" hahaha.. I took that confidence to the gig and from there my resume speaks for itself. How was your 2019? Man last year was crazy. I spent a lot of time in LA, networking and working on the vision. Did a lot of huge gigs, here and internationally. Started having some real success with the label. 2019 was good. So, what's been happening recently? A lot man! We've recently expanded the team at Dough Related, and we've been pushing hard. One of our artists, REGI FLIH, has started to make some heavy waves in the Australian/NZ scene, and we're now pushing into the US. Just hit 100k US streams on one of his tracks last week actually! But collectively we are at almost 2 million streams across all of his singles/platforms which is great. You've just headlined Cake Festival in Perth, how was the show? How did the headline come about? It was insane, man. The energy at CAKE is always wild. Everyone is there to turn up and have a good time. Easily one of my favourite gigs to play at, I also played the main set at the Official After Party and the energy just carried all the way through. I've had a residency at CAKE since the first one back in 2018, and each show is bigger and better than the last. I had some local artists come up and perform one of their tracks during my set this time, it was vibes, bro. Please tell us about any new music that you've been working on: 2020 is going to be a big year for us. We have been going really hard in the studio recently building a backlog of tracks to dribble out throughout the year. I'm really excited to get it going. You're the founder/CEO of record label 'Dough Related' how and why did you decide to start your own record label? To be honest I didn't plan it haha. Dough Related was set up organically to help out a friend of mine but I soon fell in love with the game and realised the music business is my thing. It started as my little baby that I nurtured and now seeing it grow is even more inspirational, man. How has the experience with running your own label been so far and what have you found most rewarding and challenging? I think the most rewarding thing about owning a label is working with creatives from start to finish to literally turn dreams and thoughts into reality. I've had a lot of great experiences too, I don't like to name drop but boy do I have some stories haha. And yeah, of course, there are plenty of "challenges" but I see them more as goals to overcome. I don't like being told I can't achieve something, so I will work even harder to make sure I prove them wrong haha. What do you like to do away from music?
