The Under the Southern Stars spectacular Rock Carnival Festival Series has been postponed. UTSS features +LIVE+, BUSH and STONE TEMPLE PILOTS who were set to play together for the first time in Australia this April. However, with the current global health crisis gripping the world, UTSS will need to move its scheduled dates to early 2021. Under The Southern Stars promoter, Andrew McManus has issued the following statement. Producing Under The Southern Stars music festivals each summer is a privilege and our fans and patrons have become part of the family.  In light of the current global health crisis, we feel that it is imperative to protect the Under The Southern Stars family and proceed in a clear and calm manner. We have been closely monitoring the situation as it develops and following directives from the Chief Medical Officer of the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC).  With the increase of travel bans and lock downs, in an effort to stop transmission of the virus, and with the safety of our patrons, artists, staff and crew in mind we have no other alternative than to postpone our April 2020 festival tour dates. We’ve been in consultation with all UTSS2020 artists in regard to their touring schedules and we plan to announce revised festival dates for Under The Southern Stars next week.  It is expected that our festival will be postponed until February/March 2021. All tickets already purchased will be valid for the new festival dates in 2021. Go in rock and stay healthy. Where are you currently based and what is the music scene like there? I am based in Trail, a small town in the Kootenay region of British Columbia, Canada. There's a pretty good live music scene in Rossland and Nelson which are close to here! I can often sell out our Charles Bailey Theatre as I have a lot of home town support here! It's fun!  How did you first start playing music? I started singing at 8, but when I was 15, I started playing jam sessions at a local bar. The legal drinking age is 19, so I would wait outside for my turn to sing and then be escorted to the stage. For me, it was a great chance to learn how to connect with an audience through music. What's been happening recently? Besides the time I’m spending promoting my new single, “Wait on Me”, I am a huge podcast nerd. Naturally, I released a podcast. It's called “Wild Hearts” and you'll find me chatting about the music business, health, fitness, self love, and lifestyle! You can listen to it on any of your favourite streaming platforms. Your new single Wait On Me is out now, what influenced the sound and songwriting for this track? This songwriting is influenced from my own journey of balancing a music career and my relationship back at home. The sound was influenced by the writers (Dave Pahanish and Jason Thomas – my guitar player of many years), the musicians and my producer, Jeff Johnson. Jason played all the guitar parts to the song, while Jeff added a pop influence that fit in well with a new musical direction that I was eager to take. How did you go about writing Wait On Me? I wrote this down in Nashville in March of 2018 after I had moved there. Jason had accompanied me for our drive across Canada and into Nashville. Once we got there, we connected with Dave Pahanish, an amazing hit songwriter, and the song was a natural extension of my own personal and professional circumstances and artistic goals. Where and when did you record/produce and who with? This was the first song we recorded from my new album coming out, which is called “Where the Wild Hearts Beat”. We recorded the whole album in the beautiful Okanagan region of British Columbia last spring with Jeff Johnson. How did you approach the recording/production process? This song was probably the quickest to record because Jason and I have been playing it since we wrote it. We couldn't not. It didn't need any lyrical or melody changes. We started with a drum groove, acoustic guitar and a rough vocal. From there Jeff built the track and did the piano, bass and programming. He even got Travis Toy from Rascal Flatts to play the Banjo and Steel Guitar. To make it even more special I had my "band mom", Tonnie Stewart sing all the background vocals on this one.   Please tell us about your experience with working with Jeff Johnson: He's the best. He worked me hard and we dug deep to get exactly what we wanted. He really took the time to get me into the right zone. Even pumped me up by doing push-ups one day in the studio, haha - He's super comfortable to work with. But basically he's a musical ninja.  How was your time living in Nashville? I love Nashville. It was so good for me to spend that time writing and singing every day. It was the best way to hone in on and focus on my craft. I felt very at home there.  You recently sang on stage with Keith Urban, how did this come about?  How has this experience affected you?  It came about when I asked him! haha - partially kidding. A few years ago, he was playing a pop up/word of mouth show that I knew about. I signed my CD to him in the line, called my family back home and told them I was planning to sing with him. Once the concert started, I made my way to front stage, waited for a quiet moment and asked him! It really literally was a dream come true. Not everyone can say they sang with one of the best male Country artists on the planet and I was fortunate to do it in Nashville of all places! The experience affected me deeply as it inspired me to go back to Nashville to live a year later. Now with my new music, I feel more determined as a result of my own choices, but they wouldn’t have happened the way they did if I hadn’t had that moment of inspiration. Who are you listening to at the moment? I love Miranda Lambert's new album "Wild Card", Maren Morris' "Girl" and Taylor Swifts album "Lover". What do you like to do away from music? I do Crossfit about 5 times a week, and also ride horses as often as possible – a couple of times a week if I can! I also love hiking and being outdoors!  Please tell us about your podcast 'Wild Hearts': I really wanted to invite my fans in on a deeper level, open up and be more vulnerable and real. I thought what a better way then this! And I'm loving it! I am almost 15 weeks in and have talked about topics such as "How The Music Industry Can Make You Feel & 5 Reasons for A Hit Song" to "Peanut Butter, Crossfit And An Eating Disorder" and "How To Produce Your Own Music Video".  What's planned for 2020? I’m so excited for this year! We are getting ready to hit the road in March for a Radio & PR tour throughout Canada. Of course, I will be continuing with the podcast and we will be releasing another single in time for summer. This is going to be a fun one! Throughout the summer, I will play various festivals and venues and by the time the fall comes around, we will be heading back out to Hamilton, Ontario for Canadian Country Music Week, and more shows. The album release will be after that, so stay tuned!  Favourite food and place to hangout? Oh my favorite food... I love Adams peanut butter and apples as a snack! Or blending a frozen banana with peanut butter – it’s like ice cream! Also when I feel like cheating, I love fish and chips!!   Favourite place to hang out, well.. I am a bit of an introvert. So I love being at home because I'm always out being social the rest of the time. BUT I do love going to the cutest town of Nelson BC about an hour away. It's full of cute coffee shops, boutique shops and great restaurants. It's fun to restaurant and bar hop and try different food with friends!

Stag & Dagger – Scotland’s most celebrated multi-venue arts festival – is expanding to include Edinburgh this Spring for the very first time with one of its most eclectic line-ups to date. Over the years Stag & Dagger Glasgow have hosted countless huge names from across the musical spectrum, from Lizzo, Ed Sheeran, Twilight Sad, Frightened Rabbit, Royal Blood and Catfish and the Bottlemen to Mac DeMarco, DMAs, Glass Animals and Jungle. Now, as the festival approaches its inaugural edition in Scotland’s iconic capital, the brand-new wave of artist announcements has already confirmed Stag & Dagger Edinburgh as an unparalleled gem in the UK events calendar.

Paul Cardow, Director of PCL, said: “Over the last 12 years Stag & Dagger has proven to be where Scotland’s music fans discover the best new artists. Previous Stag & Dagger audiences  have had the opportunity to see artists who have gone on to have incredible careers including Lizzo and Royal Blood and we are extremely excited to bring this to the capital for the first of these annual events”

Promoters PCL are co-curating the Edinburgh instalment of Stag & Dagger alongside Sneaky Pete’s – No. 1 in The List magazine’s Hot 100 list.

Today they revealed that one of UK’s best young singer-songwriters Matt Maltese will be headlining, along with London’s premier new-wave punk pioneers Dream Wife, indie rock heroes The Orielles, alt-rock Irish 5-piece Just Mustard and two-time Mobo Award-winning drummer Moses Boyd.

Other new additions to the line-up include bold-post-punk trio PINS and Scottish new-wave innovators Man of Moon. The spring all-dayer will also host VLURE, who are known for their captivating, energy-busting live shows; indie fuzz-pop fourpiece, The K’s; pop-rockers Dancing On Tables; and gloomy-indie quartet Jack Brotherhood.

Supporting the best in local talent has always been at Stag & Dagger’s core, and in keeping with the ethos of authenticity, some of Scotland’s most exciting new acts will be joining the bill. Lo-fi pop purveyors from Perth Hip Priest, Dunbar indie five-piece Logan’s Close, Glasgow-based gothic singer-songwriter Jared Celosse, Edinburgh pop-rockers Go To Girl, and Dinosaur 94 who are known for putting on some of the wildest shows in the capital, will all be playing – plus loads more.

All the venues are within a 5-minute walk along Edinburgh’s world famous Cowgate district.

Nick Stewart, Manager of Sneaky Pete’s and co-curator of Stag & Dagger Edinburgh said: “As the capital Edinburgh is so overdue a multi-venue festival of this quality. We are so glad to be a part of it, and even more pleased that it’s set to be a really busy one with the history and experience of Stag & Dagger behind it. Edinburgh’s music scene is really on the rise right now, we have brilliant bands here, its possibly the most exciting time for the cites artistic scene I can remember.

“More touring artist are coming to the city than ever before, and Edinburgh audiences are buying more and more tickets for the shows. Audiences are really supporting the grassroots, coming to see bands on the way up, whether they are local or touring acts, and there’s a sense that something really special is happening now.
“We get told time and again by bands that Sneaky Pete’s was their favourite date on the tour, and although that is partly down to the venue,  it’s much more to do with the brilliant audiences we have now, who seem to be very excited  about  an event like this  coming to Edinburgh.”

Capacity is limited with almost half the tickets sold.

Tickets are on sale now via www.seetickets.com.

The halcyon hedonistic are set to return to Amnesia this summer when Pyramid kicks off its mouthwatering 2020 season on Sunday June 7th. The show-stopping opening party will be headlined by firm favourites and contemporary tastemakers Ricardo Villalobos, Four Tet, Floating Points, Charlotte de Witte, Marcel Dettmann, Cuartero, Luca Donzelli and Bec. Pyramid, then, is all set to redefine Sunday nights at Amnesia all over again this summer.  Last year, Amnesia celebrated the 20th anniversary of its residents and Ricardo Villalobos, Paco Osuna and Mar-T and enjoyed great collabs with other brands and labels like Epizode, Diynamic, Mdrnty Sunwave Fest, plus there were two incredible sold-out parties at Cova Santa together with Who Cares. This season, Pyramid Ibiza is ready to take you on a journey to another dimension, where you will find yourself dancing to the best techno music in the depths of the forest. An atmosphere that is difficult to explain, an energy that must be experienced to be understood. Also this season, Pyramid Ibiza celebrates its third consecutive year at the world famous club having quickly become a real favourite with those who love serious underground vibes. From Sunday June 7th to September 27th, the party will position itself as one where all that matters is music, the party, the people and dancing until the early hours.  Entering the awe-inspiring Amnesia will be like travelling to another dimension this summer as Pyramid’s unique production and decor has been thought through to the last detail: each event brims with creativity and organic materials, the latest technology, a very special 3D lighting setup and lush green tones that immerse you in wild forests and Asian pyramids. For the opening party, the world famous Terraza will be headlined by the one and only icon and Amnesia favourite Ricardo Villalobos, who brings his minimal techno excellence next to the always innovative electronic master and Text label boss Four Tet. For a mix of all forms of house, techno and everything in between, Melodies International boss and NTS Radio mainstay Floating Points is the main man. On top of that, one of Spain's biggest house sensations, DJ Award winner and Hot Creations and Moon Harbour associate Cuartero also brings the slick grooves that have made him such a favourite.  Into the Techno Room and Belgium's leading lady Charlotte de Witte brings the darkness, Berghain's long time resident Marcel Dettmann brings plenty of varied techno sounds and Moon Harbour and Origins Rcds associate Luca Donzelli also line up.  This summer, Pyramid invites you to dance, share, feel and live the type of party that takes you into another dimension, and it all kicks off in style on Sunday June 7th. #TravelToPyramid #WeArePyramid TERRAZA RICARDO VILLALOBOS FOUR TET FLOATING POINTS CUARTERO TECHNO ROOM CHARLOTTE DE WITTE MARCEL DETTMAN LUCA DONZELLI BEC

House master Saint Lanvain is back with his first single in 2020, titled Oh Bang! Bang! Bang! Packed with contagious rhythms and spicy beats, the track is the perfect floor filler for party lovers. Having already landed huge festival spots at Solidays, Les Plages électroniques and Virgin Radio Electroshock. Listen to Oh Bang! Bang! Bang! Here. Saint Lanvain says “Oh Bang! Bang! Bang! Is all about life change”, however we’re thankful that he hasn’t changed his style of dancible deep-house. Having hit two million streams for ‘Jesus Loves Me’, it’s clear that Saint Lanvain has a huge and loyal following. Make sure to add this to your playlists, it’s not to be missed!

The Temper Trap's Jonny Aherne has announced a new solo project called Shacks & Palaces and released his debut single 'Once Upon A Hilltop' alongside an official video. Billboard premiered this first taste of Shacks & Palaces, saying "The visual for 'Once Upon a Hilltop' stars The Temper Trap bassist's own kids, Stella and Jesse, dressed in whimsical bird costumes as they explore Brooklyn with their dad. "One!/ Once upon a hilltop/ Two!/ It's one for you, it's one for me/ Three!/ Three times we both got lost/ Lookin' at the sun/ Lookin' at what's to come," Aherne croons on the track's folk-inspired chorus." The Australian-born, Brooklyn-based artist creates upbeat, folk-informed indie pop, sparkling with likenesses to eclectic icons from The Flaming Lips to Modest Mouse. His music ranges from infectious to truly exaltant, a blissful blend of bouncing melodies, boomerang hooks and colorful production. Aherne's voice —  a jubilant, stony sort of roar — is recognizable from his contributions to the mid-aughts sensation, but here, rings absolutely reckless with spirit. Aherne says, "The song started with a challenge to write about something beautiful. Love, adventure, and imagination became the parameters of its creation. At times I felt like a kid as I wrote this song, letting go of adulthood complexities and embracing the wild childlike hope lands that still dwell in me." The video appropriately stars Aherne's own young children, who dance their way through everyday experiences — going out for pizza, exploring the neighborhoods of Brooklyn, playing in the park. This spirit of innocent bliss and childlike wonder recurs throughout Aherne's offerings, lifting Shacks & Palaces from the increasingly dark, apocalyptic themes occupying much of pop, and letting it shine as something relatable, inspiring, and sincere.

Longstanding California punk band Lagwagon have today released their ninth studio album Railer on Fat Wreck Chords.  Lagwagon have announced a headlining tour of Australia and New Zealand to promote their new album Railer. Tour dates below. Unlike the last few Lagwagon albums, RAILER was written in an incredibly condensed period of time, in an attempt to capture the spirit of the band’s early days. And it worked. While songs like “Stealing Light,” “Dangerous Animal” and “Dark Matter” bristle with a raw, ragged and pure energy that’s unusual for any band to have after almost 30 years of existence, these tracks also directly hearken back to the band’s early days. “There’s only so much one person or a group of people can do before they start to develop characteristics that become common to them,” says Cape in typically philosophical fashion, “and I think you have to be comfortable with that. And I am. I like my band and what we’ve done and I’m okay with the fact that we have our strengths and we have our limitations. I know what it is that we do well and if we stay true to that, there’s something that comes out of that that is truly original, because you’re being true to who you really are.” At the same time RAILER, produced by Cameron Webb (Alkaline Trio, Motörhead), accurately and honestly reflects who Lagwagon are in 2019, both lyrically and musically. While it sounds like these songs could have been written by a band 20 years younger, RAILER, as a collection, presents itself as youthful but jaded, frantic but exhausted, visceral yet cerebral.  The idea of struggling to get by alongside an overwhelming sense of existential chaos and angst is a common thread throughout RAILER, in the bouncy desperation of “Jini,” the Bertrand Russell-inspired “The Suffering,” the breakneck despair of “Parable” and even in the carefree nostalgia of “Bubble” and its unflinching celebration of the band’s early days of “beer for pay” and the “roach-ridden pads” they used to crash at. Life has moved on in the three decades since Lagwagon started, but it’s not something the band – guitarists Chris Rest and Chris Flippin, drummer Dave Raunand bassist Joe Raposo – have entirely left behind either.   Additionally, Cape doesn’t necessarily expect people to extract his specific philosophies from each of these songs, but they’re certainly present for the listener to seek out if they want to. At the same time, just as with Lagwagon’s earliest songs, RAILER’s songs are there to be listened to and enjoyed, to take you back to simpler times. It’s no coincidence, then, that RAILER ends with a frantic punk rock cover of Journey’s “Faithfully." Back in their earlier days, Lagwagon’s albums often used to include cover songs, but the band hasn’t recorded one for a long time, until now. And, with this record, Lagwagon has come full-circle and rediscovered the purest version of who they’ve always been as a band. Not that that feeling was ever really lost in the first place, of course. “I wouldn’t say ‘lost’,” confirms Cape, “but you evolve. Evolution is a journey within yourself. You go on this journey and it takes you wherever it takes you, there are multiple people along the way that you meet who have different ideas than you and as you grow, you get into different things along the way. I don’t know if you ever completely lose the sense of where you came from, but you definitely evolve away from it over time. But the thing is, it’s always there.” LAGWAGON AUSTRALIA & NEW ZEALAND TOUR 2020 Friday 13th March - Metro Theatre, Sydney Saturday 14th March – Triffid, Brisbane Sunday 15th March - 170 Russell, Melbourne Wednesday 18th March – UniBar, Adelaide Thursday 19th March – Capitol, Perth Saturday 21st March – Galatos, Auckland Sunday 22nd March - San Fran, Wellington Tickets on sale now.  For more info visit HERE.

Lagwagon New album Railer Out Now On Fat Wreck Chords Band Touring Australian March 2020

Where are you currently based and what is the music scene like? I'm based in Redfern, Sydney. I moved here to immerse myself in the music scene which I have done, but tbh I spend most of my time on my laptop or in my bedroom. I get out by DJing on the weekends when I'm not performing and try to drop into Oxford Arts Factory once a week to see something live.   How did you first start playing music? The first song I wrote was a radio jingle when I was ten. After that, I was in the country music club performing at country music festivals whilst playing the drums in the school concert band. I returned to making music whilst selling handbags out of the back of my car. I was listening to a Bertie Blackman CD over and over and then started writing songs on Garage Band, literally recording percussion and drums using kitchen utensils and singing into a fan for vocal effects (until I found out how to use the software properly). I posted an ad on Gumtree and met Ben and we started Bec and Ben. After that, I taught myself guitar and started writing material which I put out as RACKETT.   What's been happening recently? Recently I've returned from my first headline tour of Japan. I put out 2 new songs; Machinations and Oxytoxic. Toured them in Melbourne and Sydney. I've been working with photographers and designers to create visual representations fo my new music, learning how to edit better and DJ ing. My day to day routine since coming out as a solo pop act is more on the admin side. I dedicate a lot of my day to researching venues, playlists, artists and communities to build on my music.   Your new single Oxytoxic is out now, what influenced the sound and songwriting for this track? The word Oxytoxic is something I made up based on the love chemical produced by the body; Oxytocin. My obsession with love is toxic = Oxytoxic. The sound design and production is by Dave Hammer, my producer and co-writer. We wanted to create something to dance to and the lyrics are both fierce and vulnerable at the same time. We made something that sonically reflects the intensity of my toxic obsession.   How did you go about writing Oxytoxic? Dave and I worked closely together on a collection of tracks to make a cohesive and informative sound to my new music. We had references but we also wanted to create something original that hadn't been heard before. I listened to a lot of pop like Charli XCX, Kim Petras, Dorian Electra to get my head around how far artists are pushing the pop music template. We shared lyric ideas and personal experiences to form a collaborative relationship. I'm really happy with what we've created.   Where and when did you record/produce and who with? I produced and co-wrote with Dave Hammer (Lime Cordiale) and we recorded at a studio in Petersham after we'd settled on demos.   Please tell us about the music video and production process? The approach to everything I do visually is, for the most part, DIY. As a millennial artist without much budget, I've had to learn graphic design, editing, photoshop etc. Prior to the video, I made a little green screen music video for a Christmas song I put out for fun and thought 'how much harder can this be to make a proper video using the same technique'. Well, it was a lot harder. Lucky I have tech friends that helped me clean it up. I produced it, directed and edited it myself, simply the budget does not exist right now for what I wanted to create. Having said this I curated a cast that didn't need more than for them to turn up really. I'm a real Tim and Eric fan so I found a middle ground between ultra lo-fi comedy cuts and simplicity that didn't over shadow the talent.   How did you decide who to work with and why? On my journey towards pop, I've lost a lot of the die-hard rock fans. I've had to look in places to find people that are listening to pop and embody pop culture. On my first tour of Australia with the new sound I wanted to play in new places, that's when I landed a show at Pride Of Our Footscray (an LGBTQIA community bar in Melbourne). I met Joslyn Bosoms, the host. I fell in love with her charm, fabulousness and creativity, she was liberated and the people in the venue were open-minded. Her commitment to entertaining people resonated with me. After that, I started inviting queens to perform with me on stage, I want my shows to be inclusive and a celebration of unique individuality. That leads me to the cast; Copper Feel, Bae L'amour, Krayola, Cerulean, Joslyn Bosoms, Alf Alpha, Dazza and Keif. I found them on instagram, pithed them my idea and they executed it in less than 2 takes each.   Who are you listening to at the moment? Alice Longyu, Dante Knows, 070 Shake, Denzel Curry, Clypso, The Presets, Mood Killer, Dorian Electra, L Devine, Pablo Vittar, Charli XCX, Cub Sport, Tkay Maidza, Ash Nikko. It's all here if you want it > https://open.spotify.com/playlist/1bwM0GbXORVdCO7o9HSX0b?si=bFZ7iAt8QJifcbQJzvjamw   What do you like to do away from music? I like to DJ. It's the best job really. Getting paid to listen to music and connect with people through the nostalgia of 90s pop music and slip in a few things they might not have heard. I also like to binge watch RuPaul's Drag Race.   What's planned for 2020? I released the new music video for Oxytoxic this week. Throughout the rest of the year, I'll be releasing more music, finding my home fanbase and writing and collaborating as much as I can. I'd like to tour again outside Australia, but for now I'm exploring my local community.   Favourite food and place to hangout? Favourite place to eat it 'Butter' in Surry Hills, Sydney. They sell fried food and sneakers and I like to go there when I'm hungover, so like, every Sunday. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DySh8kitk6U&feature=youtu.be

Rackett Interview

Where are you currently based and what is the music scene like?

I’m based in Redfern, Sydney. I moved here to immerse myself in the music scene which I have done, but tbh I spend most of my time on my laptop or in my bedroom. I get out by DJing on the weekends when I’m not performing and try to drop into Oxford Arts Factory once a week to see something live.

What’s been happening recently?

Recently I’ve returned from my first headline tour of Japan. I put out 2 new songs; Machinations and Oxytoxic. Toured them in Melbourne and Sydney. I’ve been working with photographers and designers to create visual representations fo my new music, learning how to edit better and DJ ing. The approach to everything I do visually is, for the most part, DIY. As a millennial artist without much budget, I’ve had to learn graphic design, editing, photoshop etc. Prior to the video, I made a little green screen music video for a Christmas song I put out for fun and thought ‘how much harder can this be to make a proper video using the same technique’. Open-air French techno gathering Family Piknik completes its full line up for Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th of July in Montpellier, France. Playing across three stages, including one secret stage, will be the likes of Charlotte De Witte, Dixon, Artbat, Erol Alkan, Adam Beyer, Mind Against b2b Recondite, Popof b2b Oxia, Fisher, Worakls Orchestra and Monolink both live, Riva Starr, Detlef, Rex Axes live and many more.

The first phase of tickets are already sold out for this iconic festival. The ninth edition is another open-air extravaganza with special lighting, world class sounds systems and all sorts of extra food, drink and entertainment to make this the ultimate techno-fest. The big news is that all of the stages will be open from noon to midnight meaning that the usual Sunday pleasures turns into a full weekend extravaganza this year.

Created as a totally unique concept in France, open to all generations, Family Piknik has managed to be the most friendly open-air event around electronic music, gathering festival ravers from more than 30 countries. People can bring their own pique-nique to enjoy the green park of Grammont and chill in between two dance steps in front of the most talented international artists. Ecology will be one of the main focus points of 2020, with a no-plastic policy to be applied for the first time, though innovative actions yet to be announced.

Say the festival owner Tom Pooks, “2020 will be a serious transition for us as it will be the first time we are open on two full days, so it’s never been more exciting for us. Last year, we had the honour of welcoming many living legends, many from the first leading generation pioneering electronic music, from Sasha to Carl Cox through Sven Väth, Hernan Cattaneo, John Digweed, Josh Wink… So for this year, we’ve decided to open our stages mostly to the new generation, like Charlotte de Witte, Artbat, Fisher going through a bunch of other new talents combined with more established names (Adam Beyer, Dixon, Erol Alkan, Riva Starr..) and exclusive performances like this never seen B2B between Mind Against & Recondite. As always, our line-up tends to represent the one and only big electronic family, from micro-house to peak time techno through all these house sub-genres. Our challenge is to be a friendly gathering for all kind of electronic communities, sharing the same love and passion for music under the trees, during a whole week-end of pure madness in the sunny south of France.”

On Saturday, Stage 1 is a fully 100% live show showcase, while Stage 2 is all about  tech and jacking house and the third and final secret stage is where to hear ethno, deep and micro house. Sunday, day two, sees Stage 1 offer up the best techno in the world, Stage 2 goes deeper with more melodic and progressive house, and the secret stage deals in ethno, deep and hybrid house.

Saturday featuresFisher, Popof B2B Oxia, Dennis Cruz, Super Flu, Riva Starr, Detlef, Cioz B2B Sam Shure, Quenum, Pontias B2B Theus Mago, Time, Ki Yera, Mood Gorning B2B Albanø andWorakls Orchestra (Live), Monolink (Live), Giorgia Angiuli (Live), Wehbba (Live Station), Red Axes (Live), Gheist (Live Hybrid), Ruede Hagelstein (Live) and The Dualz (Live).

Sunday is all about the likes of Charlotte De Witte, Adam Beyer, Mind Against B2B Recondite, Dixon, Artbat, Adana Twins, Mathame, Denis Horvart, Erol Alkan, Tom Pooks B2B Joy Kitikonti, Sébastien Léger, Monkey Safari, Mandana, Abstraal, Frankyeffe, Timmo and Blanc.

For the 3rd year in a row, Family Piknik will tease its 2020 main event with several tour dates across France between March and June (Lyon, Toulouse, Paris…), including its famous Boarding to Family Piknik event taking place in Montpellier airport on June 6th. This event is also not to miss because you can dance next to the planes, with artists like Sven Väth on board.
The scene is now set for the most famous festival in France to grow, expand and improve once more in 2020 as it raises the bar for music lovers once more.

The first wave of acts includes The Chainsmokers (exclusive - their only French festival appearance in 2020), Paul Kalkbrenner, Kaytranada, Stephan Bodzin, Boombass/Cassius, Guy Gerber, Folamour, Mathame, Artbat, Boys Noize, Meduza, Sam Paganini and more. The many festival-goers from all over the world who attend the three day event  will be delighted to dance non-stop on the most beautiful beach of La Croisette, on the roof of the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès, and sink their feet in the water at the Red Bull Enigma party on Sunday, as well as get down at the after party in the Rotonde Riviera until early morning.  The Festival Village opens from 2:00 p.m. and always pays special attention to the comfort of the public with a beauty corner, many fun stands, chill out in the gardens of Square Reynaldo Hahn, catering offer for all tastes (burgers, vegan, pancakes, Italian ice cream, sweet, salty) in collaboration with local food trucks, and much more.  The first open water party in 2017 on the Palais des Festivals beach was a resounding success. It is an event within the event with a stage set up on the water and hundreds of giant buoys distributed for the delight of festival-goers. 2020 will repeat more of the same on Sunday from 2.30 p.m. The afterparties are always a great success. The Rotunda of the Palais des Festivals, which is used to hosting congresses throughout the year, will once again be transformed into an ephemeral club, an indoor dance floor with a capacity of 5,000 people with an original concept and scripting concocted by a collective of local artists, so festival-goers can extend the party until 5 a.m. Live the backstage VIP experience: Festival-goers can access the premium spaces with a view of the main action and get skip-the-line entrance, a personalized welcome with a hostess, a dedicated bar with paid food service, in short making it a special way to experience the festival differently. YAEJI Announces mixtape WHAT WE DREW 우리가 그려왔던 Released April 2nd via XL Recordings Watch video for lead single ‘Waking Up Down’

written by the partae

NYC-via-Seoul electronic producer, DJ, and vocalist Yaeji has announced the release of a new mixtape titled WHAT WE DREW 우리가 그려왔던, due out April 2 on XL Recordings / Remote Control Records. To introduce the new project, her first full-length mixtape and release on XL Recordings, Yaeji has shared a new animated music video for the lead single ‘Waking Up Down’.

Inspired by classic anime opening sequences and based entirely on Yaeji’s own original character designs and illustrations, the music video for ‘Waking Up Down’ was created by Yaeji with direction and further illustration by her close friend Annie Zhao and production by Studio Yotta.  Entirely self-produced, the song walks the line between DIY pop and underground club music, with English and Korean lyrics about the simple euphoria of young adulthood. Throughout the song, Yaeji celebrates the little things in life, small victories like staying on top of to-do lists, making home-cooked meals, and having empathy for others, while admitting these don’t come easy. In the end Yaeji, with the help of some friends in the form of “masters” of her daily tasks, achieves her final form as she reaches her goals.

WHAT WE DREW 우리가 그려왔던 is titled intentionally; for Yaeji, the title captures the spirit of the project as a whole which she explains, “is so much about friendship, family, gratitude and support – support that I’ve felt, that I’ve given, and that we all share.” Produced entirely by Yaeji over the course of two years, she started writing the music for WHAT WE DREW with no specific narrative in mind, each track becoming a snippet of her life, a look into her diary. This total sense of freedom in her newly-built design and recording studio in Brooklyn allowed her to draw on a wide range of sounds, including the Korean indie rock and electronica that she listened to as a teenager in Seoul, and late ’90s and early 2000s hip hop and R&B she grew up listening to. The guests featured on the project represent her community in New York City and beyond, including Brooklyn-via-Oakland rapper Nappy Nina, London performance artist Victoria Sin, London producer Shy One, and Tokyo DJ and producer YonYon; tracks like “FREE INTERLUDE,” featuring Lil Fayo, trenchcoat, and Sweet Pea, capture the open and collaborative spirit of afternoons at Yaeji headquarters. Although the mixtape is much indebted to Yaeji’s newfound laser-focused creative vision and self-taught production work, it’s largely informed by her network of close-knit collaborators and friends.

Since the release of Yaeji’s 2017 EP’s (Yaeji and EP2), which broke her out as one of the most exciting new voices in dance music, she’s produced remixes for Charlie XCX and Robyn, sold out two headlining worldwide tours, and was included on the BBC’s Sound of 2018 list. In the midst of her swift rise, she has remained devoted to New York’s underground dance music scene; in 2019, Yaeji curated and organized Elancia, a massive Brooklyn warehouse rave where she gave her favourite local parties headlining slots. An artist who many pegged as the one to watch, Yaeji now aims beyond expectations, with an eye toward the worlds of music production, visual art, game design and more.
