Following the incredible success of his debut show, it’s time to get ready to look through the honesty lens and take an outrageously candid (and hilarious!) step into the life, loves and day-to-day musings of Ibby Akbar as his brand-new stand-up show ‘To be honest’, gears up to take centre stage on the Aussie comedy circuit.
Kicking off in Brisbane this November, before travelling on to Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney, ‘To be honest’ will dive into the depths of Ibby Akbar’s mind, spilling all and holding nothing back.
In true Ibby style, comedy fans can expect a night of wild entertainment and big time belly laughs as they enjoy the Melburnian comedian’s own spin on current events, his personal life, what keeps him ticking, plus everything in between and more; all of which delivered with Ibby’s own eloquent touch of brutal honesty!
On his latest offering, Akbar says, “I’m extremely excited for my second national tour, everyone that loved the first show is going to go crazy for this one! Tell your friends and your family to come and be ready for belly laughs all night long”
The Australian character comedian and social media star has built a cult following over with over 300K followers across his networks. The hilarity that ensues from stories of growing up in an ethnic family, to relationships, to poking fun at society in general, Ibby has definitely found his niche.
He regularly posts video clip content and continues to entertain his fans, reaching bigger audiences by the day. Ibby performed his debut Australian tour in 2022, with sold out shows across the country. He now embarks on his second tour run this summer.

In 2024, music, art and culture will collide once more in unforgettable fashion. Following its entirely sold out inaugural Australian run in 2023, KNOTFEST, the destination festival brand, will officially make its monumental return down under in 2024.
The music and counterculture experience that is KNOTFEST will hit the East coast of Australia starting on Thursday, March 21st at Flemington Racecourse in Melbourne, before heading to Sydney on Saturday, March 23rd at Centennial Park before closing out in Brisbane on Sunday, March 24th at RNA Showgrounds.
Headlined by PANTERA and DISTURBED, the sweltering 2024 festival line-up also includes LAMB OF GOD, HALESTORM, THE HU, ASKING ALEXANDRIA, WAGE WAR, ESCAPE THE FATE, THY ART IS MURDER, SKINDRED, SPEED, WINDWAKER, BRAND OF SACRIFICE and KING PARROT.
One of the most enduring and influential acts to emerge from the second thrash metal wave in the late 80s and early 90s, heavy groove behemoths PANTERA have eternally remained a force to be reckoned with. Offering a long-awaited bucket list moment for generations of Australian fans in 2024, PANTERA’s KNOTFEST headline appearance will mark the band’s first performances down under since 1996 – finally, the wait is over. Regarded as one of the greatest metal bands of all time, PANTERA rose to massive global success in the 1990s, with multiple gold and platinum albums, sold out tours, ferocious live performances and four Grammy nominations. From the release of their game-demolishing 1990 album Cowboys from Hell through to the 2023 reunion of Rex Brown and Phil Anselmo for their first tour in over two decades, the PANTERA name lives on with a new visage and continues to grow their legacy while spreading everlasting metal madness to the masses.
And you’ll want to get Down with the Sickness next March when Chicago hard rockers DISTURBED head to Australia for the first time in eight years as part of KNOTFEST in 2024, with the band also set to arrive armed with their latest album Divisive. Insidious, infectious and a band without comparison, DISTURBED have quietly claimed a place at the forefront of modern rock along with record-breaking success since first emerging out of Chicago at the turn of the century. With two Grammy nominations, millions of record sales and five consecutive #1 debuts on the Billboard Top 200, the latter of which places the quartet in the same rarefied air as Metallica, DISTURBED also wield a bulletproof catalogue that ranges from 2000’s The Sickness through to 2018’s Asylum, 2018’s Evolution and the triumph that was Divisive in 2022. A group hardwired to incite mosh pits while also stirring you to hold on tighter, fight harder and persevere forever, DISTURBED are, quite simply, not to be missed.
Also appearing at KNOTFEST in 2024 will be none other than American heavy metal merchants LAMB OF GOD, aka one of the key figures behind the new wave of American heavy metal, and a band who have permanently retained their influential status for over two decades, most recently in the form of their ferocious 2022 full length Omens. Also set to storm the KNOTFEST stages in 2024, the absolute charisma rock powerhouse that is HALESTORM will also arrive down under as part of KNOTFEST. One of the most successful hard rock groups of the early 21st century, HALESTORM have extensively toured the globe, taken home a Grammy Award for their single Love Bites (So Do I), and continued to wow with their muscular rock stylings laced with hooks, pop and beyond.
Wielding the screaming guitars of heavy metal with traditional Mongolian elements, THE HU are one of the most unique and compelling acts on the modern heavy scene. Blending Mongolian instrumentation and throat singing with Western rock, THE HU continue to turn heads across the planet, with their most recent album, 2022’s Rumble of Thunder, repeatedly listed as one of the most anticipated metal albums of the year. Also joining KNOTFEST festivities next March will be dynamic English rockers ASKING ALEXANDRIA. Boasting billions of combined streams and over 113 million YouTube views, ASKING ALEXANDRIA have journeyed from metalcore beginnings through to evolving classic rock and metal nods, with their 2023 release Where Do We Go from Here? balancing emotional fare with stadium-ready moments.
And if metalcore is up your alley, prepare yourself for the explosive experience that is Florida mainstays WAGE WAR, with the group set to dazzle via their sharpened pit-inducing prowess. Brandishing sonic dexterity alongside fan favourite singles, many of which boast millions of streams online, WAGE WAR are set to add an indelible spark to 2024 and the KNOTFEST experience. Hailing from Las Vegas, Nevada and set to ignite Aussie stages in 2024, ESCAPE THE FATE will return once again down under to whip up a frenzy of punk, hooks and post hardcore delights. Fresh off releasing their latest album, Out of the Shadows, earlier this year, ESCAPE THE FATE are primed to once again share their memorable live moments that has seen them tour with Papa Roach, Fozzy, Story of the Year and countless others.
Closer to home, Sydney deathcore outfit THY ART IS MURDER will be dialling up the noise at KNOTFEST in 2024, with the band’s delectably punishing latest album Godlike ready to roar onstage next year, along with Welsh heavy metal fusion masters SKINDRED who will be bringing their heavy metal, reggae, punk, hip hop and electronic technicolour musical dreamcoat to Australia in the new year. Sydney-based hardcore group SPEED will also lend some fast-paced punk to proceedings, while Melbourne metalcore mavericks WINDWAKER are also set to bring their beautiful ferocity to the KNOFEST party. And in keeping with KNOTFEST’s theme of pushing the envelope, Canadian deathcore group BRAND OF SACRIFICE are set to showcase their riveting mix of musical barbarity, cinematic twists and nods to the anime series Berserk, while Melbourne grindcore experts KING PARROT will arrive ready to swing their insidious sonic wrecking ball to KNOTFEST audiences in 2024 with lashings of angst, absurdity and antics.
KNOTFEST Australia is thrilled to announce it will debut the revamped KNOTFEST Museum celebrating Slipknot’s acclaimed 25 year career. A staple at KNOTFESTs all over the world, this year’s Museum Experience will feature a jaw-dropping collection that played a pivotal role through the band’s storied journey. A true can’t miss opportunity to see this special edition of the global fan-favourite attraction. Tickets are strictly limited in each city.
Early bird pre-sale tickets are on sale at 10am local time on Tuesday 21st November here and general public tickets go on sale at 9am local time on Thursday 23rd November here.

Today, climbing from the Empire State Building in New York City, Oscar winning actor Jared Leto announced Thirty Seconds to Mars’ monumental Seasons 2024 World Tour. The extensive tour includes a run of Australian dates, with the band performing at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena on 12th September 2024, ahead of further shows at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena, and finally Brisbane’s Riverstage, before heading over to New Zealand.
The world tour will also see the band travel across Latin America, Europe, and North America – their first headline tour in over 5 years. Full details on tour dates and ticketing information can be found below.
Leto, the band’s frontman, accomplished a historic feat as he completed the first ever climb of the Empire State Building. Having always been fascinated with the incredible landmark since he was a child, he said “The building is a testament of all the things that can be done in the world if we put our minds to it, which is largely the inspiration behind our most recent album, It’s The End Of The World But It’s A Beautiful Day.” As an avid climber, the Empire State Building and the tour announcement carry the sentiment that anything is possible if we try.
The Empire State Building was recently rated the #1 attraction in the U.S. by Tripadvisor for the second consecutive year after a recent $165 million renovation of its legendary iconic Observatory.

Multi-platinum selling artist Thirty Seconds to Mars, comprised of brothers Jared and Shannon Leto, makes a triumphant return with their sixth studio album, It’s The End Of The World But It’s A Beautiful Day, released September 15th via Concord Records. The album heralds a new era for the band, one that not only explores the darker sides of the human experience but the hope as well, an arresting reminder that even in the face of seemingly impossible obstacles, there is still beauty to be found in the world. Lead single, “Stuck” officially debuted at #1 on the Alternative radio chart and scored a top 10 hit in Italy, marking the fastest chart climb of the band’s career. Sitting in the top three of the German airplay charts, the tour’s namesake and current single, “Seasons” asks if we can accept change as we move through the many different seasons of life.
My Live Nation members can secure tickets during the My Live Nation presale beginning 1pm (local) Wednesday 15 November.
General on sale begins at 1pm (local), Friday 17 November. For complete tour and ticket information, visit: livenation.com.au.

Melbourne/Naarm alt-rockers Catholic Guilt share their nostalgic new tune Can You See Me?, out via Wiretap Records, and prepare to share it live at The Tote in Melbourne on November 18. Tickets on sale now!
Drawing inspiration from the Australian indie and punk scene from the 2000s, Can You See Me? is a tale of lost identity and feeling at odds with yourself. Vocalist Brenton Harris explains: “For me personally, that feeling was brought on by a period of intense emotional and physical upheaval caused by a variety of interpersonal issues and a few serious life and career setbacks.
“All of these issues coalesced around the time of the lockdowns and ended up impacting life on the other side of it, resulting in me living life as a version of myself that felt so unfamiliar, so unconfident, so shaken, so entirely unlike ‘me’. Writing the song allowed me to process and heal and move onto the next evolution of ‘myself’. It’s our ‘feel sad hit of the summer’.”
Produced, mixed and mastered by Evan Lee and Ash Daws at The Loud Noise Estate (Inertia, Young Lions, The Motion Below), Can You See Me? sonically invites listeners on a journey of loss and acceptance. Guitarist Dean Gordon highlights that Can You See Me? intentionally “utilises light and shade, with the verses creating an introspective space for self-reflection juxtaposed against an energetic chorus to mimic staring into a mirror screaming for answers.”
The music video created in collaboration with Karl Baldwin plays on the use of silhouettes, leaving room for interpretation and imagination. “Your silhouette only provides an outline of who you are, not the details that make you unique. We felt that this imagery created a parallel to the search for oneself explored in the lyrics,” explains the band. Watch here!
Catholic Guilt is Brenton Harris (vocals), Dean Gordon (guitar/vocals), Megan Sidwell (guitar/vocals), Ben Caruana (bass) and Michael Condello (drums). The quintet combine elements of punk, alt, folk and rock, resulting in a sound they describe as ‘honest music’. The band released their debut EP, ‘Hymnbook Vol. 1′ independently in 2018 and followed it up in 2020 with ‘This Is What Honesty Sounds Like‘ via Wiretap Records. ‘This Is What Honesty Sounds Like’ earned the band national and international airplay across over 130 stations and received widespread acclaim from outlets including Alternative Press, Music Feeds, Brooklyn Vegan, Pop Matters and landed them a coveted triple j Unearthed feature artist spot.
The band built off the success of the release by signing with booking agency Destroy All Lines and playing a run of shows in Australia, including multiple sold-out shows in their hometown of Melbourne. Catholic Guilt has since gone on to release a handful of singles and have appeared on major Australian festivals Full Tilt and Knight and Day as well as touring the East Coast of Australia and play main support with US alt-rock titans Switchfoot, Pure Noise Records act Real Friends and local icons Behind Crimson Eyes, Chasing Ghosts and The Bennies. Catholic Guilt will headline The Tote on November 18 and support Guttermouth (US) in March 2024.
Can You See Me? is out today and streaming everywhere via Wiretap Records.

The trajectory of success and profile Perth’s South Summit have been enjoying over the past two years has made them one of Australia’s most exciting new bands.
Their fusion of indie and rock sounds, woven together with a culturally rich and diverse bed of influences, has forged a naturally dynamic set of performers out of the five-piece. Three successful EP releases to their name – first with Merlin’s in 2021, followed by Creatures and Tales Of The Yeti in 2023 – are testament to South Summit’s consistency as songwriters and musicians. Moreover, they demonstrate the band’s hunger to be chasing new horizons, pushing themselves to elevate with each record released.
For right now though, South Summit chose to drop something a little different on their fans and community: a documentary that provides further insight into their life and behind the scenes craziness, Climbing The Summit. Building on the strong love for music and connection to community that South Summit established early in their journey, Climbing The Summit captures the band at a particular creative career peak, inviting fans to take a look at life at the center of the chaos.
Filmed between Sydney and Melbourne during a period of down time South Summit had while on tour with Beddy Rays, Climbing The Summit was directed by Elliott Brown, and produced by Vincent Trease. The documentary serves as a perfect time capsule of South Summit: a young band doing what they do best, and rightfully reaping the rewards of their hard work.
“The band were a pleasure to work with. It’s been such a great experience creatively and we got to witness South Summit at a pivotal time in their career as musicians. In such a time of division the message of unity that runs through this doco is in my eyes a great example of reconciliation.”
VINCENT TREASE, PRODUCER
“I wanted to capture the way that music brings people together, and show that it doesn’t matter where you come from or what you believe in, it’s all about just playing some tunes and having a good time. …I firmly believe that South Summit will one day stand among the greatest Australian artists. I aimed to capture their beginnings, a moment I hope people will look back on in the future.”
ELLIOTT BROWN, DIRECTOR
For South Summit, completing the Climbing The Summit project has put a nice cap on what has been a life-changing chapter of their lives as individuals and as a group of friends embarking on this wild ride together.
With a tour of Australia and New Zealand in support of Tales Of The Yeti still to come this summer, Climbing The Summit is a reminder of the power in their messages, and the fun that comes with a South Summit live experience.
“This documentary gives us an opportunity to tell our stories, share our messages, and showcase what we do behind the scenes on this crazy journey. We feel like this documentary lets people understand our journey with music, and what we want to be known for. We represent proud cultures throughout the band, but this is not the reason why we are here today. We are here for the love of music. The process was made super cruisy for us by the two guys who made it all happen. Big shoutout to Vince and Elliott for having the vision for the doco and all their hard work to make it happen!”
NATHAN OSBOURNE, SOUTH SUMMIT
To date, South Summit have accrued over 2 million streams across platforms, as well as widespread industry acclaim for their steadily growing body of work. Named as “ones to watch” by triple j in 2022, as well as “indie role models for reconciliation”, South Summit were quick to cement their reputation as a formidable champion of Australian rock music, off the back of multiple sold out shows on the West Coast, and an impressive entry to the East Coast and national festival circuit, performing at the likes of Falls Festival, BIGSOUND, NYE on the Hill, Springtime Festival and more.
Along with music, South Summit remain dedicated to the empowerment of First Nations peoples and communities, dedicating efforts to community outreach, including visits to schools, prisons and youth detention centres during NAIDOC Week; their music and activism work remaining intertwined in a natural way.

PRAISE FOR SOUTH SUMMIT
“They could be Perth’s next breakout band, but South Summit are just as interested in becoming role models and giving back to the community as crafting heartfelt indie rock anthems. South Summit only have a handful of tunes to their name but nearly all of them pop with the confidence of a band much further into their career.
Triple j
“The band mixes timeless psych influences with a dusty mysticism, like each electric lick is a chance to escape being young and big for your boots in isolated WA. It’s still early days for South Summit but there’s so much promise of what’s to come with this band. Imagine a dark and brooding Ocean Alley cut and you’ve got the vibe of their new one ‘River Days’. It’s dreamy, soaring coastal indie with big guitars and swelling vocals”
Triple J Unearthed
“They’ve become ingrained within live music spaces in such a short time that it feels like they’ve always been there; their heartfelt indie-rock being an easy fit into the growing next generation emerging from Western Australia.”
Pilerats
“The chorus for Tired of Waiting just soars! A huge moment for South Summit”
Triple J, Nick Findlay
“Epic track right here – it’s got a little bit of everything! Gentle folk harmonies, yearning blues and then a swirling dubby climax. These competing parts of South Summit could seemingly overpower the track but this band nail the mix.”
Triple J, Dave Ruby Howe
“There is something special about this up and coming five-piece. With infectious energy, huge melodies, and an enigmatic frontman showcasing beautiful, honest storytelling, you might think it would be easy to get lost in the South Summit mix – but it’s the way the band manage to masterfully balance every element, constructing a sound that is both familiar and uniquely their own, that showcases the band’s true promise.”
