written by the partae

THE KID LAROI ANNOUNCES NEW SHOW DATES FOR NOVEMBER 2024 WITH SPECIAL GUESTS QUAVO AND ONEFOUR, TICKETS ON SALE THURS 8 AUGUST

ANNOUNCES NEW SHOW DATES FOR NOVEMBER 2024
WITH SPECIAL GUESTS QUAVO AND ONEFOUR
TICKETS ON SALE THURSDAY 8 AUGUST
Australia’s own multi-platinum chart-topping global superstar The Kid LAROI has today shared his re-routed national Australian tour for November 2024, with two additional show dates set for Brisbane and Hobart. Armed with his debut studio album THE FIRST TIME and having just dropped the hit new single Girls, LAROI’s forthcoming national tour will also see the Sydney-hailing superstar’s iconic friends, Quavo and ONEFOUR jump on the tour with him (excluding Gold Coast and Hobart shows).

Presented by TEG Live, this mammoth Aussie run will commence on November 11 at Gold Coast Home of the Arts, before traversing Brisbane, Sydney, Perth, Adelaide and Hobart, finishing up in Melbourne with shows at Rod Laver on November 29 and 30.

Tickets to THE FIRST TIME shows will go on sale to the general public on Thursday 8 August at 1pm local from ticketek.com.au, with an exclusive 48 hour artist presale live from Tuesday 6 August at 1pm (password FIRSTTIME).

Thrilled to be bringing his tour back to home turf, LAROI says, “I’m really excited to confirm the November tour dates and bring my show to Australia. It’s going to be incredible to perform back home and share this experience with all of you. I’m also pumped to announce that Quavo will be joining the tour as a special guest. Can’t wait to see you guys and make this tour unforgettable!”

Expanding on the homegrown hero’s first-ever headline Australian tour in 2022, which saw LAROI add multiple extra arena shows due to overwhelming demand, these upcoming 2024 shows will also give his legion of fans a chance to witness some of LAROI’s most iconic hits from his 2021 ARIA Award-winning collab with Justin Bieber, Stay, to his near on 1 billion streamed smash, Without You, to his genre-blurring 2022 track Thousand Miles, his 2023 chart-burner Love Again and of course his latest hit single, Girls. The tour will also showcase LAROI’s most personal and musically complex statement to date in the form of his brand new album THE FIRST TIME, boasting 20 new songs from the revered Aussie export alongside his trademark amalgamation of hip hop, pop, alternative and indie flavours.

Supporting LAROI on the tour will be his pal, American rapper, singer, producer and global icon, Quavo. The Migos frontman has reached celebrity status the world over, with a number of acclaimed Migos and solo album releases under his belt, he has performed alongside Madonna at the Eurovision finale in 2019, and amassed Billboard 100 Top Ten Singles with Post Malone on Congratulations, Justin Bieber’s Intentions, Liam Payne’s Strip That Down, Drake’s Portland, and DJ Khaled’s No Brainer, and only last month releasing Tough with Lana Del Ray.

The pioneers of drill music in Australia, Sydney’s ONEFOUR will also be hitting the road with LAROI, offering a hugely rare opportunity to see drill and rap group live on stage, having only performed live a handful of times over the decade since they formed, including at LAROI’s 2022 Sydney show when he pulled them on stage, and Listen Out Festival last year.

A maiden full-length album from The Kid LAROI, aka Charlton Kenneth Jeffrey Howard, THE FIRST TIME follows on from the rapper’s debut 2020 mixtape F*ck Love, with LAROI rebranding his sound into a style befitting of his international celebrity status, while also ultimately serving up one of the most anticipated albums of last year. Featuring guest appearances from Jungkook and Central Cee on the single Too Much, Baby Drill and Future on What’s the Move?, Robert Glasper and YoungBoy Never on Call Me Instead, and D4vd on The Line, THE FIRST TIME is a technicolour celebration of collaboration and unwavering creativity, traversing the famed Kamilaroi artist’s professional and creative journey, catapulting to stardom alongside his earlier work with Juice Wrld, the 2021 smash single Stay alongside Justin Bieber, and the mixtape that started it all, F*ck Love in 2020.

THE FIRST TIME album has amassed over 1.2 billion streams globally and debuted at #3 ARIA Album chart (#1 ARIA Australian Album), #7 in New Zealand, Top 20 in Canada/Denmark, and top 30 in the US and UK, while its singles TOO MUCH and LOVE AGAIN both hit the top 10 ARIA singles chart and became radio mainstays. Both singles also cracked the triple j Hottest 100, as did the fan favourite single BLEED (which LAROI says is his favourite song he has ever written). NIGHTS LIKE THIS went viral on Tik Tok earlier this year with streams surpassing 100M million. LOVE AGAIN also saw LAROI nominated for two APRA Awards and two ARIA Awards including ‘Best Solo Artist’ and ‘Song of the Year’, LAROI was the #2 Most Streamed Australian Artist for 2023 on Spotify, and earlier this year, LAROI unveiled his documentary Kids Are Growing Up. Furthermore, The Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) just last week announced a new award recognising homegrown success, with LAROI taking out the inaugural Australian Chart #1 Awards with his song Girls.

In a swelteringly short space of time, LAROI has taken the world by storm, with two nominations in 2022 at the Grammy Awards, for Best New Artist and also for his work on Justin Bieber’s sixth full length Justice, three wins and multiple nominations at the ARIA Music Awards, Billboard Award wins, and a National Indigenous Music Award alongside his ever-expanding repertoire, as well as his dominating online and pop culture presence. Currently in command of over 43 million monthly listeners on Spotify, over 2 billion views on YouTube, a single, Forever & Again, featured on the official soundtrack for the defining cinematic moment of 2023, Barbie, and a recent 31 date North American run alongside Lil Baby, LAROI’s effortless talent and raw charisma is only matched by his enamouring onstage presence; a fact which permeates vividly whether LAROI is performing at the likes of Coachella or commanding a crowd for his own sold out headline shows. And with two years now chalked up since his last performances on home soil, 2024 is set to fittingly celebrate THE FIRST TIME for the very first time in a run of unforgettable nights across Australia.

Tickets to THE FIRST TIME Australian tour go on sale Thursday 8 August from 1pm local time.

LIVE NATION’S ‘ONES TO WATCH’ MAKES DARWIN DEBUT

by the partae August 2, 2024
written by the partae

AUSTRALIA’S NEXT CROP OF INSPIRING ARTISTS SET TO SHOWCASE AT
DARWIN’S BUSTARD TOWN

Returning for their second showcase of 2024, Live Nation Australia’s ‘Ones To Watch’ program will be making its Darwin debut on Thursday, August 8th. Off the back of a highly successful jaunt in Sydney earlier this year, the ‘Ones To Watch’ program heads up north, with support from MusicNT & the Regional & Remote Music Summit.

Expected to get local, national & international heads turning, the event will host three of the top end’s finest acts, with brothers Yung Milla & J Milla set to appear alongside singer & songwriter Juran.

Top End’s rising hip-hop truth teller Yung Milla will perform off the back of a successful Barunga Festival, where Yung Milla ignited a sea of 5,000 new fans with his spectacular backflipping stage presence and sharp wordplay. Singles ‘Land Down Under’ & ‘Lose Control’ follow a slow-burning trilogy of potent tracks from Yung Milla, including: ‘Daily’, ‘Better Days’ and ‘Used To Be’. His righteous path has just begun, seeing early support from the likes of triple j and triple j Unearthed, along with his recent NT Music Awards nomination for “Best Hip Hop song” in 2022.

Rising hip-hop star J-MILLA is set to light up the ‘Ones To Watch’ stage. Over the last 12 months he has made appearances at festivals such as Field Day, St Kilda Festival, Perth Festival, Barunga Festival and Bass In The Grass; was selected as the feature artist for  Triple J Unearthed during Naidoc Week 2023, and has recently been selected as a finalist for Acclaim’s coveted All Stars list for 2024. He has previously won 2x NT Music Awards, as well as the NIMA Archie Roach Foundation Award (2021) and has seen significant support from DSP’s, with over 4 million total streams across platforms.

Juran, a soulful artist from Tropical Darwin, blends inventiveness with captivating allure , exploring themes of love and the human psyche. In 2023, she collaborated with top Northern Territory musicians and co-created the award-winning show “Manifesto of Salt Water Women.” Now, with her debut album “Demons” set for release in 2024, Juran’s journey of self-discovery continues. Juran’s versatility extends beyond solo work; she’s a guitarist for the punk band ‘Mr Chrisy Mertas’ and part of the upcoming hip-hop duo ‘Clink’ with Caiti Baker. Collaborations with NT-based talents like Yirrmal and Emily Wurramara further highlight her as a rising star.

The ONES TO WATCH Backed By VODAFONE series has made a solid impact within the Australian music community. Throughout 2023, the series provided industry and fans the exclusive opportunity to see some of the country’s best talent perform in intimate environments across Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, highlighting the talent of the current wave of Australian talent primed to make their impact in other markets.

“It has been a long-awaited moment, and we are thrilled to introduce Live Nation’s ‘Ones to Watch’ to Darwin. This event will showcase some of the finest local talent, poised to make a significant impact on the domestic music scene.” Paul Lynch. Live Nation Australia

The Summit Program will present research, panel sessions, case studies, keynotes and workshops that respond to number of broad themes, including: Place, Storytelling, and Culture; Regional and Remote Live Music and Festivals; Adapting to the Climate Crisis; Understanding Audiences; The

Importance of Safe Spaces; Skills Gaps and Building Capacity; and Policy and Investment. The event makes space for the 7 million Australians existing outside of the metropolitan music

industry who need their voices heard.

Since its establishment in North America, the ONES TO WATCH series has been able to support and promote artists such as Dua Lipa, Olivia Rodrigo and Halsey early in their careers. So far in Australia, ONES TO WATCH has platformed artists including Blake Rose, Sophisticated Dingo, STUMPS, Forest Claudette, Teenage Joans, Carla Wehbe, ZPLUTO, WIIGZ, Hoodzy, East AV3, Colourblind and Saint Lane at events around the country.

Nuanu City, Bali, August 1, 2024: Bali’s music arts and culture festival ‘Suara’ meaning ‘voice’ in Indonesian has wrapped its third edition following a successful three-day extravaganza. The multi-day event was made all the more special by the soft opening of the incredible festival site, the creative city Nuanu.

Welcoming more than 9,000 fans across three days from more than 60 countries, the crowd was a mix of Bali locals and visitors to the Island of the Gods. The weekend’s festivities embodied the philosophy of ‘Tri Hita Karana’ as an odyssey through Balinese culture where living in harmony with nature, community and spirituality seamlessly intertwined. Permeating the essence of the festival throughout all aspects of its programming, the philosophy was reflected in its highly curated lineup which included local legends, regional stars and a number of international acts making their Bali debut as Nuanu City opened up more of its 44-hectare site than ever before.

“This past weekend was undoubtedly one of the highlights of my 27 year career curating and producing events around the globe,” said Suara Co-Founder, CEO and Creative Director Jason Swamy.

“After months of hard work by our incredible team, it was amazing to see people interact, engage and appreciate all the elements that we spent a long time planning in meticulous detail. A huge shout out to our thousands of staff for helping us pull off such an extraordinary event as well as Nuanu founder Sergey Solonin for providing us with the ultimate playground. Building on his foundation from the two previous editions, his belief in our vision to take Suara to new, international heights while continuing to spotlight the incredibly rich culture and all that is on offer from across Bali, was instrumental to making the magic happen.

“This was not for the passive-minded, rather it was designed to be participatory in every possible way and so a big shout out to all who joined us and wholeheartedly embraced our programming. We couldn’t have done this without you.”

Musical highlights included a heartwarming performance from headline act Angus & Julia Stone (AUS) who graced the Suara main stage on Sunday night with a four-piece band including a trumpet solo from Julia Stone, a packed dance floor for Saturday’s headliner HVOB (live) (AUT), and impeccable tunes from Friday’s headliner, classically trained electronic ensemble Brandt Brauer Frick (GER). A plethora of local and international talent such as Ramengvrl (ID), Batavia Collective (ID), We are Neurotic (ID), Yung Raja (SG), LP Giobbi (USA), Rodriguez Jr. (FRA), Sainte Vie (GER), YoungR (UK), Deer Jade (CH), Geju (RUS), Lastlings (AUS), Mansionair (AUS) and collectives Lifted (HK), Yeti (HK), small&TALL (HK), Spin Sum (SG), Chi Wah Wah (AUS), Disko Afrika (ID) plus more rounded out the musical lineup.

With more than 100 music artists performing across one of the festival’s more than nine stages, the packed programming also spanned visual, interactive and performance art, cultural acts, circus performances, food, beverage and market vendors, wellness sessions, dance classes, breathwork, inspiring talks, sustainability initiatives, and family-friendly activities. With something for everyone no matter age or life stage, Suara Festival offered a slice of what it could be like to live and play inside Nuanu’s walls.

“Seeing Nuanu come alive with global creativity and energy during this year’s Suara Festival was truly inspiring. The festival offered an incredible journey of music, art, and cultural exchange, and we are grateful to everyone who made this event a success. We look forward to creating even more unforgettable experiences in our Creative City in the future,” said Sergey Solonin, Founder of Nuanu, Co-Founder of Suara Festival.

For those keen to partake in next year’s festivities at an unparalleled price, the fourth edition of Suara Festival in 2025 is announced with tickets on-sale starting at US$138 via Megatix.

See below for the top experiences from the third edition of Suara. With so many incredible experiences on offer, it is not hard to see why it is fast becoming the must-attend destination festival in Southeast Asia.

Suara Festival 2024 Highlights

Nuanu Opening Ceremony on Day 1

Kicking off on Friday, July 26 at 2pm with Nuanu’s opening ceremony to mark the soft opening of Nuanu, the reception included a welcome speech from the Creative City’s founder Sergey Solonin alongside remarks from a local government official – I Gede Susila, the Regional Secretary of Tabanan Regency, Bali. The proceedings were complemented by an Okokan dance, a traditional dance originating from Tabanan, the region in which Nuanu is situated. The ceremony focused on the vision for the Creative City and how Suara is embodying the five pillars of Nuanu (education, art & culture, nature, health & wellness, living & lifestyle) across its diverse programming.

Earth Sentinels by Daniel Popper

Renowned South African sculpturalist Daniel Popper’s stunning Earth Sentinels stood guard over attendees as they entered through the festival grounds with exceptional nature-inspired visual projection mapping lighting up the installation after dark.

Grammy-nominees Mansionair pulled at the heartstrings on Day 1

Taking the stage on Friday evening, the Aussie electronic trio’s emotive melodies had the main stage enthralled.

Circus spectacles

Bali’s Circus Academy roamed the festival grounds on stilts dressed as butterflies adding tropical flair throughout the site. Aerialist hoopers and trapeze artists from Moving Stars Bali swung high above revellers and Fiery Pixies played with fire with grace and precision leaving festivalgoers in awe.

Traditional Balinese performances

From Kecak (a Balinese Hindu dance and musical drama developed in the 1930s), to Joged Bumbung (a dance intended as entertainment which has been proposed to be part of world cultural heritage by UNESCO) to Barong and Rangda dances (a dance of mythological creatures with supernatural powers showcasing the eternal battle between good and evil), traditional performances peppered throughout the festival offered international guests an opportunity to immerse themselves in Bali’s rich, cultural heritage.

Dancing in the rain with Rodriguez Jr. (LIVE) at Luna Beach Club on Day 1

Making his debut in Bali, France’s Rodriguez Jr. wowed festivalgoers with a driving live melodic set that had revellers dancing seaside surrounded by lush nature against the backdrop of Nyanyi beach and Alexander Milov’s LUNA sculpture at Bali’s newest beachclub. As he closed out the stunning day to night venue close to midnight, raindrops on the dance floor added the perfect dramatic touch to the final few minutes of his set offering some much needed refreshment after a full day dancing under the sun and stars.

Day 1 Headliner Brandt Brauer Frick (LIVE) on the Suara Main Stage

Closing out the Suara main stage, German electronic trio Brandt Brauer Frick shared their ‘emotional body music’ influenced by renowned composers such as Steve Reich and Philip Glass coupled with the likes of producers Ricardo Villalobos and Plastikman.

The KidsZone by Jungle Kids

Throughout each day of the festival, daytime programming for children by Bali’s Jungle Kids meant families could experience the Suara magic with little ones so they could explore, learn and have fun before the evening’s festivities kicked in. From face painting and storytime to dreamcatcher making, wooden toy decorating, clay masterclasses, magicians, capoeira dancers, experiments, and so much more, a nanny service also supported parents throughout the festival weekend.

Cuddles with adorable alpacas

Festivalgoers could make a new furry friend at Bali’s one and only Alpaca connection with festivalgoers being among the first to visit the animal farm. Located in a field a short stroll from the main festival grounds away from the hustle and bustle, a unique experience awaited those willing to make the short trek. Nestled in the heart of Nuanu, Pacha Alpaca is a soul sanctuary where fans could spend time getting to know the adorable animals in a serene environment, recharging before heading back to the event.

Interactive multimedia at Aurora Park

Festivalgoers at Suara got to be one of the first to explore the new innovative and audiovisual journey through Aurora Park, a one-kilometre trail offering visitors a unique experience through eight permanent art installations. Playing with light and its interpretation, fans were able to go on a personal journey of discovery through the first multimedia outdoor park in Bali that also integrates AI technology. Immersing themselves in a world of light and creativity, along the path fans discovered impressive installations with one of Suara’s hidden stages tucked away in the jungle near the river bed path with another permanent  sculptural piece by Daniel Popper taking centre stage.

Embracing energy at Ash Stage

From inspiring talks from the likes of  Melissa Loh, Co-founder Taman Petanu Eco Neighborhood- Regenerative Communities on ‘Lessons from 12 Years in a Bali Eco-Neighborhood’ to a panel on regenerative futures towards global sustainability with Handprint CEO Mathias Boissonot, festivalgoers heard from many brilliant and progressive minds on driving positive change not just in Bali, but the world. For those keen to fill their cup through movement, festivalgoers could choose from an array of sessions such as Ecstatic Dance, breathwork and Cacao Ceremonies with Awakened Dreamers, meditation and mantras with ALCHEMY, as well as Cuban salsa, Bachata and Kizomba workshops, alongside many more.

LP Giobbi sunset set at Luna Beach Club on Day 2

As day became night, American DJ, producer and classically-trained jazz pianist LP Giobbi soundtracked golden hour with her piano house music beats.

Lifted Showcase with Yung Raja and Ramengvrl on Suara main stage on Day 2

Bringing the hip hop vibes, Singapore’s Yung Raja decked out in head to toe silver stepped onto the Suara main stage, amping things up before Jakarta rap icon Ramengvrl brought her crew and ‘bad bitch’ energy to Saturday night. With the crowd singing along to her hits like ‘Vaselina’, together the duo showed that Southeast Asia’s hip hop scene is alive and kicking.

A packed dance floor for HVOB (live) on the Suara Main Stage on Day 2

HVOB’s live closing set at Suara on Saturday night was one of the busiest of the entire weekend. The notoriously private band had the entire dancefloor vibing from start to finish playing a mix of old and new favourites.

The best vendors that the Island of the Gods has to offer were all ther

From iconic Indonesian dishes like Nasgero’s tantalising Nasi Goreng through to oysters and sparkling wine by Oysters Love Bali, there was something on offer to cater to every palate. The marketplace was a vibrant retail experience offering up a number of unique and artisanal items for sale alongside sunglasses, water bottles, jewellery, festival fashion, flower crowns and even astrology readings with Deborah Erlich which booked out shortly after doors opened.

Afrohouse all day with Disko Afrika at Luna Stage on Day 3

Come Sunday, the party did not stop with local collective Disko Afrika ramping things up with their rhythmic afro house sparking multiple dance offs amongst the crowd throughout the afternoon.

Art at Longhouse

For fans of visual art Longhouse did not disappoint. The unique two story space featured a number of visual artists and interactive performances tucked away in its various gallery spaces. From tea ceremonies to a showcase of Javanese instruments, experiential rhythms, live painting, live DJ sets and exhibitions of fine paintings, photography and more, there was plenty to stimulate the senses.

A Sunday Soiree of Wings & Wishes, Nuanu’s Butterfly Release

On the final day at 5pm, festivalgoers were able to partake in an enchanting butterfly release ceremony, celebrating the beauty of transformation and conservation hosted by Nuanu’s native butterfly breeding program.

Pumping up with Youngr on the Suara Main Stage Day 3

Multi-instrumentalist Youngr drew a strong crowd to his high-energy set with his iconic bootleg anthems from the likes of Cher and more. Taking to the drums, percussion, vocals and more, the talented UK artist impressed attendees during his inaugural Bali show.

Intimate sessions at Labyrinth

The Labyrinth Stage transformed into a vibrant collective where both international and local artists showcased their talents. Attendees enjoyed a dynamic mix of concerts and DJ sets, with performances taking place both inside the studio and in the open air. The atmosphere was intimate, centred around a sacred fire that brought everyone together. The beats of the music, combined with live painting sessions, created an inspiring sense of community and shared experience, making it a memorable part of the festival.

Cruising with Casa Bacardi during changeovers

As one of the festival’s main sponsors the ‘House of Bacardi’ pop-up near the main stage brought the beats in between main stage changeovers.

Sunday night’s headline set on the Suara Main Stage with Angus & Julia Stone

The anticipation had been building all weekend with Angus & Julia Stone finally taking over the Suara main stage on Sunday evening playing to more than 4,500 fans, the largest crowd of the entire weekend. Playing a number of hits from their new album Cape Forestier alongside old favourites like ‘Big Jet Plane’ the Australian sibling folk duo were accompanied by a four-piece band.

Gates of Agartha is a concept that draws its inspiration from the mythical underground kingdom of Agartha, where ancient secrets and wisdom are guarded. Its debut was widely acclaimed as the Best New Regional Festival last year in Croatia. The series is all about offering unique cultural experiences in unusual locations with a rich sense of history. The magnificent Istanbul is a perfect place for the next edition as a city that straddles two continents and is a living testament to a history which has been the capital of three great empires—the Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman.

Nestled on Istanbul’s historic peninsula, Tersane in the Golden Horn (Halic) was forgotten for nearly six centuries but has emerged from the shadows to reclaim its place as a beacon of history. Within these ancient Ottoman naval shipyards, the empire’s formidable naval power was forged, spanning nearly 400 years of unrivalled supremacy. Now, as it opens its gates to the world, prepare to witness the resurrection of a legendary legacy, where the echoes of the empire resound through the ages.

Tersane İstanbul is a blank canvas for this three day festival that offers a great opportunity to explore. Accommodation in Halic is at Rixos Tersane İstanbul with unmatched guest experience and service excellence. Dedicated to redefining Istanbul’s lifestyle scene, the hotel is an eclectic fusion of urban hotspot and lifestyle hub with panoramic views that seamlessly combines modern luxury with a 600-year-old dockyard’s rich heritage.

Main festival nights on October 11th and 12th are in the Naval Shipyard that is in the heart of Tersane and will transport you into the ancient futurist realms with immersive soundtracks from the world’s best DJ talent.
For those who purchase the Full Experience, on Thursday October 10th, the journey begins at the ‘Temple’, a tribute to Istanbul’s legacy as the capital of Rome and the Ottomans with an immersive theatrical opening ceremony blending ancient glory with ancient futuristic aesthetics of Agartha with the drum performances by one and only Nadav Dagon. As the evening progresses, things relocate to the beach club for an opening cocktail party set against the backdrop of the Golden Horn with panoramic views of the historic peninsula, including the Galata Tower, Hagia Sophia, and other iconic monuments from the Empire era.

Full Experience guests continue their adventure on Friday October 11th with the Dinner of the Empires for just 150 lucky people. The bespoke palace menu is inspired by both Ottoman and Roman eras and will take you on a culinary journey through the diverse regional kitchens of Turkey and ancient Rome. It will be served near the Golden Horn with stunning views of the historical peninsula that have echoed through time.

Istanbul is an ancient maritime city which has a lot to offer which is why Full Experience guests will be invited to explore further with a boat tour along the Bosphorus when they can soak in stunning views of the city’s iconic landmarks, palaces, and beautiful waterfront mansions.
Founder Yalim Acar and Creative Director Yaaz Acar add, “we are thrilled to bring this spectacular event to our hometown of Istanbul.”

Gates of Agartha blends epic history with dance music from across the genres in the heart of Istanbul to make for a once in a lifetime getaway.

Amnesia to make history with the Amnesia Closing Festival

by the partae July 31, 2024
written by the partae

On October 11 and 12, the iconic nightclub will bid farewell to the 2024 season with two days of partying, featuring more than 30 artists and a B2B lineup from start to finish.

Website | Instagram
Tickets: https://store.ticketing.cm.com/Amnesia-Closing-Festival-2024
Date: 11th and 12th of October

Years ago, the Amnesia closing was a date known only to the most intimate on the island. However, over time, the voices of experience have echoed, turning this into one of the longest and wildest closures, reflecting the true spirit of Ibiza. Those who have experienced it know it’s the party that puts the final touch on all parties.

This year, the nightclub has upped its own game. Has any other Ibiza nightclub ever held a festival to celebrate its closing? Has any other dared to multiply it? Dancing not one day, but two. Has any other gathered more than 30 artists, presenting a lineup that runs from start to finish with exclusive B2B sets?

The answer to all these questions is clear: there has never been anything like this, but there will be, on October 11 and 12 at the nightclub that has made history on the island and continues to do so. The Amnesia Closing Festival arrives with the intention of surpassing its own limits and breaking all barriers. That’s why this year it adds an extra day for all those who want to feel the energy of Amnesia, multiplied.

On Friday, October 11th, the lineup landed from the UK will be presenting in the Main Room: Ben Hemsley, Hannah Laing, Les Schmitz, and Malugi. Meanwhile, on the Terrace, people will dance with Claptone, Danny Howard, Sammy Virji, Sonny Fodera, and Jan.

The real test for the bravest will be on Saturday, October 12, when something unprecedented happens on the Terrace. As the saying goes, unity is strength, and strength will abound with a B2B lineup from start to finish, featuring Adam Beyer B2B Marco Faraone, Cuartero B2B Manda Moor, East End Dubs B2B Mar-T, Londonground B2B Manu Desrets, Hot Since 82 B2B Rossi., Sidney Charles B2B Caal, and, repeating the success of the 2023 closing, the resident DJs of the iconic nightclub, Jamie Jones B2B Joseph Capriati, who will delight us with a Sunrise Extended Back to Back Set.

As part of the deployment of its new brand identity, Amnesia has executed a total blackout on its social media, reinforcing the meaning of its own name with a powerful message: memories are overrated. The Amnesia Ibiza closing festival invites clubbers from around the world to forget everything to be truly free. These will be two days to focus on the present and nothing else. The season ends, and it’s all about leaving that last drop of sweat on the dancefloor, gathering all the energy of the crowd and the magic of the white island.

UNWRITTEN LAW (US), JEBEDIAH, LITTLE BIRDY, THE BENNIES, ADALITA & THE KICKONS

MEDIA RELEASE:: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE THURSDAY JULY 18

REGISTER FOR PRESALE TICKETS
Grab a pair of Vans and your best mates, and get set for some classic summer festival vibes like the good old days; this October and November, the hottest ticket in town will be Hotter Than Hell, with the Aussie festival celebrating all things rock returning later this year for a monster 2024 edition with one stage, no clashes and affordable prices with tickets from $85. Bringing the old-school vibes off the beaten track to outdoor venues in Western Australia, Victoria, South Australia and Queensland, Hotter Than Hell will feature unforgettable performances across five days from familiar and new favourites, including the likes of Regurgitator, American icons Less Than Jake (performing in SA and QLD only) and Unwritten Law (performing in WA and VIC only), along with Jebediah, Little Birdy, The Bennies, Adalita, and The Kickons. Once again bringing a monstrous lineup truly blessed by the rock gods down under, Hotter Than Hell is here to kick off summer festival season with a bang!

From just $85, tickets for Hotter Than Hell go onsale to the general public on Wednesday July 24 at 12pm local time from hotterthanhelltour.com.au, fans can register for presale tickets now from hotterthanhelltour.com.au, with the presale kicking off Monday 22 July at 12pm local time.

An undisputed and unstoppable force on the Aussie alternative landscape, Hotter Than Hell’s 2024 headliners Regurgitator need very little introduction. Forming in Brisbane in the early 90s, the group have gone on to take home multiple ARIA Awards, tour the globe across Australia, New Zealand, Japan, the UK, Europe, North America, Asia and the Middle East, playing with Weezer, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Prodigy and Silverchair, and obliterate festival stages, from the iconic days of Big Day Out through to their recent appearance as part of 2022’s Good Things Festival. Armed with ten studio albums under the Regurgitator moniker, including their groundbreaking 1996 debut album Tu-Plang, through to their recent 2024 opus Invader, Regurgitator remain a cultural force to be reckoned with. Boundlessly inventive, and armed with everything from rock, rap, funk, and thrash (and even a kid’s album for good measure), Regurgitator’s live show remains to this day as infamous as their genre-defying earworms; and Hotter Than Hell was the perfect lure to get the band back on Aussie stages again, as the band share, “We were pretty set on taking a decent break after the high paced energy of making our latest album INVADER. As we rolled along over this great land and saw how much you poured your hearts into enjoying our Invasive tour performances, the Hotter Than Hell folks reached out wanting us to continue the momentum for another run of their festival dates end of year. We took a deep breath and said what the hell… let’s keep the heat on eleven. Great lineup, and great locations… one more run around the continent this year. So here we go, thick and fast as we rampage into another summer season… and it just gets hotter every year!”

Set to perform at Hotter Than Hell in South Australia and Queensland this year, Florida ska rockers Less Than Jake have unleashed nine studio albums, ticked off performances at Warped Tour, Hellfest, and When We Were Young, and performed with NOFX, Bowling For Soup, MxPx and New Found Glory. With a legion of global fans and a sweltering streaming presence, including 59+ million individual streams and counting for their smash single All My Best Friends Are Metalheads on Spotify alone, Less Than Jake are also revered for their enigmatic live shows, where you’re guaranteed to head home with their infectious songs ringing in your head and a smile plastered on your face. Recently releasing a new single Broken Words, Less Than Jake will be down under for their headline run kicking off in October alongside their Hotter Than Hell appearance, set to play Hello Rockview in full, and all their hits. “Can’t believe it’s been six years since we’ve partied with our friends down under! Way too long!” shares Less Than Jake’s Matt Yonker. “Australia is one of our favourite places to play. Other than just being a beautiful place to visit, I’m always amazed at how attractive the people are down there, must be the water! We also all appreciate just how on point the coffee game is. No joke, you get an A+ on coffee consistency, I’m not sure I’ve ever had bad coffee there! Aussie audiences easily hang with the rest of the world. I think they may even be a touch crazier. And that’s a compliment, I’m really looking forward to the mayhem.”

Exclusively performing in Western Australia and Victoria this year as part of Hotter Than Hell, punk rock mainstays Unwritten Law emerged onto the scene in the early 90s welding classic punk with melodic hardcore elements. Finding chart and global success via their breakthrough 1998 self-titled record, Unwritten Law have since released seven full-length albums, toured extensively at home and abroad, including as part of Warped Tour, and generated millions of streams and video views along the way. Having only toured one other country more times than Australia (their own), it’s no stretch to declare Unwritten Law as genuine honorary Aussies, with the group hitting our shores repeatedly since 1996. And 2024 certainly won’t be Unwritten Law’s first Hotter Than Hell rodeo, as the band shares, “With the last Hotter Than Hell being the last tour we did before the world shut down, it holds a special place in our hearts. We’re thrilled to come be a part of it again! We’ll be playing the Black album in full and that’s always been a good time. What’s not to love about Australia? Grab some twisties, get a pub feed, down a VB and have a surf! Honestly though, we love the people.  It’s no joke that it’s our second home. We even have a full-blooded Aussie in our band now! We just feel so accepted in the culture, it’s a crazy thing to have that kind of connection to someplace that’s so far away from where we’re from. Music is magic.”

For any Australian of a certain vintage, the name Jebediah likely conjures memories of endless summers and riff-soaked good times in the 90s, stemming from the band’s explosive shift from Perth teenagers to an integral part of the fabric of Australian rock’n’roll. Immediately snatching attention with their 1996 hit Jerks of Attention, the group swiftly cultivated heavy airplay on triple j and ticked off performances at both Homebake and Big Day Out, before solidifying their legendary status with their debut studio album Slightly Odway, boasting the beloved anthem Leaving Home. Appearing at all five Hotter Than Hell events later this year, Jebediah will also arrive armed with their hit new 2024 album OIKS.

Storming onto the Aussie alternative radar back in the early 2000s, Perth rockers Little Birdy packed a punch throughout the decade, including three albums, 2004’s BigBigLove, 2006’s Hollywood, and 2009’s Confetti, five ARIA Award nominations, and tours with R.E.M and onstage at Falls Festival, Big Day Out and Great Escape Festival, while their gutsy pop and rock fare also tickled the alternative airwaves with gusto, particularly via singles Relapse, Beautiful to Me and Tonight’s the Night. Also primed to perform at all five of the Hotter Than Hell editions this October and November, this will mark the Little Birdy’s first return to a festival stage in well over a decade, with BigBigLove set to be performed in its entirety! “It’s been a long time since we played those youthful songs as a band so we are all excited by the idea of revisiting them,” shares Little Birdy vocalist and guitarist Katy Steele. “I also love the concept of us playing the record in its entirety. These shows should be so much fun!”

A psychedelic storm of reggae, ska, and beyond, The Bennies have been brandishing their boisterous wares since the release of their 2011 debut album Party! Party! Party!. A band who certainly knows how to get the party started in any setting, The Bennies kicked off 2024 supporting TISM in Frankston, Victoria, with the group locked and loaded to perform at Hotter Than Hell in Gepps Cross, Townsville and Brisbane this October and November. Renowned for their voracious live energy and an adoration for genre-defiance, there ain’t no party like a The Bennies party; strap in and enjoy the ride.

Founding member of Australian rock royalty Magic Dirt and an all-round Aussie icon, Adalita will be wowing Hotter Than Hell fans in Mt Evelyn, bringing her acclaimed solo work to the stage this October. With her highly respected solo career launching in 2011, Adalita has gone on to support Blondie and The Pretenders and also perform for His Holiness The Dalai Lama, with her most recent 2022 solo album Inland showcasing her enduring songwriting prowess and magnetic delivery.

Hailing from Perth, indie pop rockers The Kickons channel raw authenticity into their sonic creations. Releasing their new single In the Cold earlier this year, the group wield a formidable social media following, with 3.2 million likes on their TikTok channel alone, and their live shows also proving to be nothing short of a cathartic experience. The Kickons will appear at Hotter Than Hell this year in Dunsborough. “This is our first big festival, and to be on the Hotter Than Hell lineup is just unreal,” shares The Kickons. “We can’t wait to get out there and show everyone what we’ve got.”

Taking place in areas often not tread by touring routes or destination festivals, Hotter Than Hell is ultimately flying the flag for glory days of Homebake and Livid, summer fun and best mates once again with a truly scorching lineup in 2024.

Tickets for Hotter Than Hell go onsale to the general public on Wednesday July 24 at 12pm local time from hotterthanhelltour.com.au.

Iconic DJ Awards Returns to Ibiza Bigger & Better Than Ever

Following a four year break the iconic DJ Awards is back for its 23rd Anniversary on 2nd October

The iconic DJ Awards are making a much anticipated and supersized return after a four year hiatus. Designed to recognise and document outstanding talent, innovation, and contributions within the electronic music community, the 2024 edition takes place on October 2nd. A Summer of glittering events will build up to that main event, which began with the unveiling of the rebrand at a launch event on Monday 15th July at Ibiza’s Beachouse.

The DJ Awards were founded in 1998 and since then have been recognised as ‘an Oscars for dance music’. Now under new ownership and with substantial investment, the awards are a vital way to celebrate and support global DJ culture and recognise high achievement across the whole sector with high-profile ceremonies that platform the best of the best in several different categories. Many of those categories will return in 2024, alongside new ones that reflect the ongoing evolution of the industry. As such, this year’s awards will be the biggest and best ever with a focus on Ibiza heritage as well as helping to set and recognise high industry standards.

Says Jasmine Elias, Head of Awards and Events at DJ Awards, “After a four-year break, I am thrilled to return to the DJ Awards with renewed passion and excitement. With new owners, a fresh vision, and a complete rebrand, we look forward to celebrating the electronic music industry.”

New owner Andy Grant adds, “Thanks to the integrity of the founders, who, for 22 years focused only on recognising true excellence in global dance music culture, the DJ Awards remains the only true and valid recognition of the community’s achievements. With this baked into our DNA we are now going to build upon this foundation and create something truly amazing – as important to dance music as the Oscars is to film. I am very proud to play a leading role in the next chapter of the DJ Awards.”

A lot has changed in the world, and the music landscape, since the last edition in 2019, not least the advancements of technology, streaming, AI, web3, the way people consume music, DJ superstardom, discussions around diversity, mental health and plenty more. As such these key facets of the industry will be recognised in the new look DJ Awards, with nominees to be announced at a later date.
