Australian punk stalwarts The Smith Street Band today share new single ‘Star Child’. Out on Pool House Records this is the second single from the Naarm / Melbourne band’s forthcoming seventh album. Of the latest release the band’s lead singer Wil Wagner says, “Star Child is a song about how all life’s twists and turns have led me to a really happy place with a daughter who I love more than anything! It’s about how important things used to feel and how lost I used to be and the perspective gained with age and experiences. The song took on a lot of different directions and formations but I kept coming back to the opening line which is “I’ve seen so many highways” and thinking about how after all of life’s journeys I’ve found myself exactly where I need to be!” The upcoming new album is the third to be recorded at the band’s off grid studio in regional Victoria and follows critically acclaimed albums Life After Football (triple j Feature Album, 2022) and Don’t Waste Your Anger (ARIA #1, 2020). Having just completed a month of touring throughout July to capital cities across six states, The Smith Street Band today also announce a mammoth 24 date East Coast regional tour. With shows from Traralgon to Cairns and nearly everywhere in between, the tour will include their first ever shows in Mildura and Tamworth, and a long awaited return to the likes of Port Macquarie, Coffs Harbour, Rockhampton and Mackay after nearly a decade. Everclear, one of the leading alternative rock bands to emerge from the ‘90s led by vocalist, guitarist and founder Art Alexakis, have announced November / December Australian dates for their Sparkle and Fade 30th Anniversary Tour. Everclear’s platinum-selling, major-label debut album, had a massive impact in 1995 with its chart-topping hit “Santa Monica,” making Everclear a household name and catapulting the band into the masses. The acclaimed collection – also featuring the singles “Heroin Girl” and “Heartspark Dollarsign” – has been hailed as “a must have for any fan of pop-punk” (Punknews) and “a tough, melodic set of gnarled post-punk hard rock” (AllMusic), with The Rolling Stone Album Guide declaring, “Sparkle and Fade was everything a radio-ready rock record should be: explosive, soul-searching, belligerent.” Everclear’s 16-date Australian tour will kick off Friday November 21 in Newcastle and travel across the country, with the band performing shows in capital cities and regional areas including Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Canberra, Townsville and Duncraig before wrapping up on Saturday December 13 in Adelaide. “Sparkle and Fade was not the first album I had made, but it was the album I had wanted to make my whole life. It changed everything for me and Everclear,” shares Alexakis. “Because of its success and lasting impact, this band has survived and prospered for three decades, and this tour celebrating Sparkle and Fade is another way of us saying ‘thank you’ to all of the incredible fans – old and new. We’re excited to bring this tour to Australia. In addition to all the hits and fan favorites, we’re going to pretty much play the whole album through the course of the show to commemorate this 30th anniversary. If you are a fan of this record, you do not want to miss this tour!” Everclear is: Art Alexakis (vocals, guitar), Davey French (guitar), Freddy Herrera (bass), Brian Nolan (drums) |

The sounds of construction have been echoing through Elephant and Castle recently, as Ministry of Sound undergoes a major transformation of its VIP area. Welcome to No Velvet Rope Society – an inclusive new experience designed for true music lovers, with a focus on elevated sound and a new mezzanine overlooking the infamous Box.
Ministry of Sound has unveiled a forward-facing new chapter with its £500,000 transformation – the venue’s first major renovation in 15 years. Guests now enter through a gritty back-alley entrance, a deliberate nod to its raw 90s roots. Inside, a newly built mezzanine offers a high-spec sound experience with direct views into it’s main arena The Box, immersing guests in the iconic Martin Audio sound system that helped make Ministry a global name.
Says Caitlin McAllister, Group Managing Director, Ministry of Sound, “The launch of our new VIP space marks a bold new chapter for Ministry of Sound. This transformation has been a personal passion project of mine for years, and seeing it finally come to life is incredibly special. We’ve literally knocked down walls to open up the space and connect it directly to The Box, creating a seamless, elevated experience that brings guests and artists even closer to the music, the energy, and the atmosphere that define our club. This isn’t just a refurbishment; it’s a reimagining of what a night out should feel like — captivating, electric, and unmistakably Ministry”
No Velvet Rope Society is Ministry of Sound’s fresh take on VIP culture—stripping away the exclusivity in favour of something more meaningful. It’s built for music lovers who want deeper, more connected experiences.
A limited number of founding memberships are available for just £150 a year and include VIP access at all events bar student-only nights, queue jump, birthday Moët with table bookings, 15% off first table spend, and priority access for future reservations.

Fresh off the back of staging its debut event on the West Coast in Fremantle, Live Nation’s ONES TO WATCH returns to New South Wales, this time posting up in the lush coastal surrounds of Byron Bay. Coming to the iconic Backroom at THE NORTHERN on THURSDAY 24 JULY, this edition of ONES TO WATCH celebrates and amplifies Indigenous Australian excellence, putting the spotlight on four of the country’s most striking names: DOBBY, LOREN RYAN, DEM MOB and ROX LAVI.
A proud Filipino/Murrawurri musician, producer and composer, DOBBY’s musical journey is intrinsically tied with his own journey through young adulthood, into a space where he carries the stories and lessons of his people forward in a way where he is able to impart knowledge onto a new generation of creatives. DOBBY’s sound has seamlessly blended rap with expansive and contemporary arrangements – a fusion that has brought DOBBY Australian and international acclaim. The release of his 2024 album Warrangu: River Story re-established DOBBY as an Australian talent to watch; his personal brand of storytelling breaking open new dialogue around how fascinating and exciting the work of our First Nations artists currently is, and continues to be.
Next on the line-up comes young Gamillaraay woman Loren Ryan, a quickly-rising star in Australia’s country music scene. Winner of the 2023 Toyota Star Maker award, and a nominee of last year’s prestigious Golden Guitar Award for New Talent of the Year, Loren’s journey has seen her performing with the likes of Troy Cassar-Daley, Jessica Mauboy, and harmonising with pop legend Kelly Rowland on The Voice AU. Known for incorporating her mother tongue into her original music as well as renditions of well-known beloved pop songs – with her breathtaking cover of Cold Chisel’s ‘Flame Trees’ having amassed over 707K streams – Loren weaves culture into her art at every turn.
Hailing from the APY lands in the community of Pukatja, DEM MOB are hip hop trailblazers in their own right – they are not only the first hip hop group from their region, but they are the first MCs to rap in Pitjantjajara language. Born out of a desire to empower youth and their community through a powerful connection of culture and music, DEM MOB has become more than just a music group: they are a movement. Their work as musicians has seen them perform internationally – to date, they are the first and only Indigenous Australian artists to have performed at Barcelona’s Primavera Sound – while constant music releases have landed them praise from tastemakers around Australia, including triple j and triple j Unearthed.
22 year old Gomeroi man ROX LAVI has emerged as a fiercely talented young artist in only the last two years. Ipswich born and raised, Rox Lavi (in his words) was raised by rap music, and gravitated to wordplay and poetry at an early age. While hip hop remains within the core of his music’s DNA, Rox Lavi’s music today thrives on an expanded palette of influences that incorporate indie and alt-rock influences, and that fans of artists including BROCKHAMPTON and Dominic Fike would love.
Returning to host this year’s ONES TO WATCH event will be the Gen Z voice of Australian music media, Tait McGregor. A multi-platform content creator, the presenter specializes in music, from TV, radio & podcasts, to sweaty mosh pits. Having written for the likes of MTV Australia, Tone Deaf & The AU Review, she has also worked on productions for Netflix, STAN, VEVO & more.

The Grogans are kicking off their Stagger album tour this August at iconic venues across Australia including Metro Theatre, The Tivoli, 170 Russell and more with a hometown U18s show at Naarm’s Northcote Social Club, before they jet over to the states for an East Coast US Tour in October. Joined by Caitlin Harnett & The Pony Boys for the whole tour, the shows will feature local supports across different cities from indie-pop rock outfit Jet City Sports Club, alt-rockers Platonic Sex, and South Australian garage band Ethanol Blend.
Capturing the magnetic energy of their live shows, Stagger touches on themes of mental health, taking care of yourself and your loved ones, the occasional love song, and more. As the catchy chorus first single and album opener ‘Oh Boy’ leads into sonic powerhouse of a tune ‘Come Up (Goes Down)’, ‘In My Heart’ slows it down to a new easy listening direction, followed by ‘Have a Little Dream’ – as dreamy as the title suggests – and the big open echoed instrumentation of ‘Once In A While’. Adding new textural effects in ‘Roll Back’ and last single ‘Roundabout’, ‘Happier Man’ dips into a heavier psych realm with a reminder that “striving to be a better and happier person should be a goal for everyone.” ‘Worry About Everything’ is an upbeat tune sure to have you worrying about nothing, and feel good album closer ‘All My Days’ ends on a more serious note that outlines the beauty and the beast of live music and the personal struggles that come with the lifestyle and touring.

Ibiza-based DJ SHARE (also known as Sharon Pieksma) has long outgrown the title of hidden gem. With an expanding catalog of releases on respected labels and a resume of global performances, she’s become a standout force in the electronic music world. Her distinct sound and super energetic stage presence continue to turn heads.
From DJ Booth to Studio: A Seamless Transition
SHARE began spinning tracks over a decade ago, infusing her DJ sets with deeper messages from the very beginning. Environmental consciousness has consistently been at the heart of her creative journey.
While many might remember her as Miss Universe Netherlands 2019, that title was merely a platform for her greater cause, advocating against single-use plastics and spotlighting ecological issues on a global stage.
Later that same year, she naturally progressed into music production. Her debut single, Avatar, was released in 2022 through Abracadabra, the record label of none other than BLOND:ISH. The track debuted during an Abracadabra showcase and a Bye Bye Plastic benefit, an initiative founded by BLOND:ISH aimed at eliminating plastic waste in the music scene.
SHARE hasn’t paused since. With EPs like Firewalk and Moon, she has carved out a unique sonic identity. Her track Oh Please (featuring Def Eff) landed on Crosstown Rebels, the iconic label headed by Damian Lazarus.
Taking Her Sound Global
Though SHARE initially started out as a minimal DJ, she made a name for herself with an organic sound. However, her style has grown to embrace elements of indie house and tech house. This evolution mirrors her development as a versatile artist.
After playing at beloved Dutch festivals like Gardens of Babylon, Pleinvrees, and Thuishaven, her performances quickly expanded across borders. She’s since graced the stages of international festivals and clubs, including SXM Festival in St. Maarten, Portugal’s Goat Community and Nomad Souk, La Karavane in Morocco, Dubai’s Soho Beach, and Panama’s Reactor and Playa Venao.
Now based in Ibiza, SHARE has become a fixture in the island’s vibrant scene. This summer, she’ll return several times to the mystical WooMoon nights at Cova Santa. She’s also set to make her highly awaited debut at the renowned Hï Ibiza, performing alongside legends like Black Coffee and Damian Lazarus.
Upcoming Shows

| This October, Ibiza’s closing season reaches new heights with The Trilogy — a groundbreaking, multi-venue finale that unites three of the island’s most iconic clubs for one historic weekend. Created by The Night League, The Trilogy unfolds across Ushuaïa Ibiza, Hï Ibiza, and the island’s newest giant, [UNVRS], across two unforgettable days: 11 & 12 October 2025. |
