After a two-year break to hone her craft, 19-year-old singer-songwriter Elke Schon makes a powerful return with her new single, ‘Pages You’ll Never Read’ showcasing a distinct sound from her debut single, ‘Talk To Me’. Based in Brisbane, Elke draws inspiration from artists like Billie Eilish, beabadoobee, and Gracie Abrams. Since graduating from Music Industry College in 2022, the rising indie pop artist was part of the Vermillion High Showcase Compilation Album, and she is now establishing her artistry in the local music scene.
Reflecting on her journey, Elke shares, “I wanted to figure out exactly how I wanted my music to sound. ‘Talk To Me’ came out when I was younger, and there was still so much I had to figure out. So, I took a step back to really hone in and solidify my sound. I started writing this song in late 2023, and by then I knew I wanted to shift the sound of my music to something more in line with pop folk since I had been listening to a lot of George Harrison and The Sundays, I took a lot of inspiration from them and realised that was the direction I wanted to take my music in.” With her skills refined, she is ready to make her mark on the music industry.
‘Pages You’ll Never Read’ produced by Tom Megalos (ZZADE, Happy Valley) is a dreamy, lustful song complemented by raw, emotive vocals and a hazy electric guitar melody. The song delves into the complexities of a toxic situationship and the feelings of being led on.
“I wrote this song about yearning for someone you care about while struggling with unreciprocated feelings. It emphasises the idea that life is meaningless without this person. The song also reflects on the experience of journaling about this person, fully aware that they’ll never read it, and the frustration of feeling like you’ve wasted your time and emotions on them.” says Schon.
‘Pages You’ll Never Read’ out November 15th, is the perfect indie-pop ballad for your daily mix. With poignant lyrics and an engaging melody, the track engages listeners to reflect on their own emotions.
‘Pages You’ll Never Read’ is out Now!

You’ve got such a unique blend of sounds on Revel, Revel. Can you share a bit about the journey that led you to this eclectic mix?
Thanks! It is a blend of sounds. I’d like to think there is a common thread in there too but, simply, it just reflects me. I wanted to make a record that showed what I like – which is varied. I also like records that take people on a journey and have light and shade. I had a lot of material and decided to pick the ones I liked best.
General Mack’s Grapeshot was a fresh start after other solo projects didn’t work out. What made GMG the right fit for bringing your music to life?
Timing worked. Determination. I didn’t want more demos in my music library and I knew I needed to collaborate with others to get the whole project completed. I had to risk that they may not like it – something that has crippled me in the past. Despite the initial stress of doing so, I’ve made it happen. I had to work very hard to see it though. It’s taught me a lot about myself and I’ve worked with some wonderful people. I have a thirst to produce as much music as I can after delaying for too long.
Your project name, General Mack’s Grapeshot, has a fascinating historical twist. What inspired you to go with such an unusual bit of history?
With much of the record and the project, I’ve made decisions based on what felt right. I do laugh sometimes because I knew I wanted something to stand out and I think I well and truly achieved that. I read War and Peace and there is one tiny mention of General Mack, this failed Austrian General. I wrote the name down because my last name is a kind of ‘Mack’. Grapeshot was mentioned in the book too but it wasn’t until I heard about it on a podcast a bit later that I thought it would be good for an album title. As the songs developed and I realised there was such variation, I liked the idea that it’s general Mack’s ‘grapeshot’ of songs. Dangerous, unique and might just hit you…. It sounded so absurd I grew to like it.
You spent quite a bit of time on the Mornington Peninsula while recording Revel, Revel. How did that setting shape the album’s sound and feel?
It gave it space. I think in time that gave a dream-like feel to some of the songs. It was recorded in high ceilings, in front of the water, alone, and allowed for long drawn out days of experimentation. It was most helpful with the guitars I think. Lots of stuff didn’t work and I had layers of guitars on some stuff, most of which was later stripped back. But it was an important part of the process. I ended up using some parts I had no recollection of recording, such as the volume of content I recorded.
Your music has a cinematic quality, with drum loops and synth bass woven throughout. Do you have a specific approach to layering these sounds, or is it more experimental?
It wasn’t always the same approach but I generally had a rough version of the song on guitar which I layered down and then built the drum tracks, and then everything else bit by bit. One of the main advantages of this process was the ability to subsequently edit, change, and improve as I went. They changed quite a bit. You don’t always get the chance to do that recording in bands. Sometimes natural and raw is good but I didn’t have others to pick up the slack so for me to get the final product required a lot of work. It wasn’t efficient at all but hopefully, it was effective! I did what I needed to do to make it work – a good lesson in trusting whatever works for you. I learnt a lot and I may do it a bit differently for the next one! Rob Muinos took it to another level with the mixing process and he enhanced the cinematic quality – it was great working with him.
You’ve mentioned influences like Beck and St Vincent. Which of these artists has had the biggest impact on your music-making process?
I really like artists that get great sounds on their records. Beck and St Vincent are producers, songwriters, creatives, and probably then musicians. There is a musical essence I generally connect with, and not everything they do which is okay too. They mix their styles and take risks.
The music video for ‘Carnival of Stars’ explores surreal themes with mirrors and reflections. How did you and director Laura May Grogan develop that concept?
I’d noticed Laura often played with mirrors in photos she would post of herself on social media. They were playful, fun, and interesting and I really liked them. Laura is an incredible photographer. So I when we met to discuss the concept, mentioned this and lent her a book called Treacle Walker, a mind bending phenomenon of a novella. There is a scene in that which plays with mirrors and I thought we may be able to use a starting point. Laura read the book, loved it, and really took it to another dimension from there. The concept is so unique, I love it. I think we work well together, she photographed the album too.
You draw a lot from novels and poetry in your lyrics. Are there any favourite authors or works that inspire your writing?
Chekhov is probably the consistent one for me. There is something about Russian authors that is very inspiring as a songwriter. The translations often have unique old world lines and thoughtful phrases and descriptions, and simple stories that say so much about people and are still so relevant.
You’ve played in bands like Cannon and Damndogs in both Melbourne and LA. How did performing in those scenes shape the GMG sound?
The more you play and learn and absorb from other people and situations, the better you are for it. Damndogs pushed boundaries with drum tracks and the live setup. Cannon brings an important energy and the band has been essential in allowing me to grow as a songwriter.
If you could invite any musician, past or present, to collaborate on the next GMG record, who would you choose?
I’d love to make a record with both Dangermouse and Jamie Hinze. That would sound good.

Forged in the fires of 1988’s thrash metal scene, Wellington’s SHIHAD quickly evolved into one of Australia’s most beloved bands. SHIHAD (Jon Toogood, Karl Kippenberger, Phil Knight, Tom Larkin) has sold over a quarter of a million records, released ten studio albums, received multiple ARIA nominations, won countless Aotearoa Music Awards and toured endlessly through the world’s most loved clubs, festivals, and arenas. Touring with metal icons like Faith No More, Tool, Back Sabbath, Motorhead and one of their biggest early influences, AC/DC. Live is where SHIHAD is truly an oversized presence.
In 2010 SHIHAD were inducted into the Aotearoa’s Music Hall of Fame, firmly establishing themselves as New Zealand’s biggest rock band.
With gaps between albums increasing, growing commitments outside the band, and band members’ inability to give SHIHAD the time, focus and dedication it needed and deserved, they made the hard call to end the band. While opinions within differ, they are united in agreement that half-assing SHIHAD was never an option.
To celebrate thirty-six years of memories and milestones, the band announces Loud Forever – The Final Tour.
“We’ve had as much fun as we’ve had moments of disappointment and of anger,” Karl says. “But we’ve also had some real special moments.”
“The fundamental chemistry and makeup of what makes SHIHAD special and what makes SHIHAD work requires certain things to be in place,” Tom explains. “When you can’t sustain those things or plan for those things, it takes away from SHIHAD being something that makes sense. It’s about a shared commitment and a shared energy.”
Phil muses. “You know, personal relationships and professional work don’t always survive forever. But we’ve lived it all. We really have. We’ve lived the life that so many musicians would give their right arm for.”
“We need to pay homage to the legacy of this band, because it’s meant so much to us and also to the people that have supported us,” Jon says, before adding, “We’re gonna fucking hit it!”
SHIHAD’s songbook is teeming with iconic tunes like Run, The General Electric, La La Land, Pacifier, My Mind’s Sedate, Deb’s Night Out, Gimme Gimme, Wait and See and the brutal I Only Said (1993), their highest charting single which pounded its way to No.3. And, you can’t forget Home Again, their instant classic that became an anthem not just for SHIHAD, but for all Kiwis abroad.
The upcoming LOUD FOREVER tour offers both the band and its nation of fans the opportunity of a fittingly loud and raucous farewell.

Charlie Needs Braces is back with a new single ‘This Land’ + Accompanying collage video + Announces NYAA WA (Take Care) Album for 2025
Playful with a powerful message, Charlie Needs Braces is back with a new single ‘This Land’ that calls for everyone to learn the history and heritage of the land you are on, and announces an upcoming album NYAA WA (meaning Take Care) out Thursday 20 February. The new single is accompanied by a collage inspired video working with collaborator and director Master Kapow, following on from her last single ‘Dyarrubin’, and is out Wednesday 13 September. Getting ready for a summer of live shows, Charlie and Miri will perform at Djerriwarrh Festival and The Town this November, and join The Teskey Brothers in January 2025 for A Day On The Green.
A proud GuriNgai woman and direct descendant of Bungaree and Matora, Charlie’s new single celebrates First Nations people’s connection to Country and the importance of learning the individual history behind the names and places. In true Charlie fashion a lush soundscape of their signature harmonies and bird calls of Australian wildlife, set to her looping drum beats. ‘‘This Land’ is inspired by the deep meaning and stories embedded in the Aboriginal names of places. Each name carries a history, a connection to the land, and valuable information about the area. Through this song, I wanted to highlight the importance of these Indigenous names and the stories they tell, encouraging all of us to reconnect with and respect the true heritage of the places we live in.’ – Charlie Needs Braces
Created and directed by Master Kapow, the ‘This Land’ video clip was created collage style with layered images of animals and plants from old National Geographic magazines, maps and street signs, and an Aboriginal map highlighting the traditional names of places in Australia. Miri and Charlie are layered amongst the patchworked landscape, travelling to different places and planets in the universe.
‘The goal was to create a visual experience that mirrors the song’s message—celebrating the deep, interconnected stories of the land. It was a challenging and slow process but so rewarding after seeing the final product, and I’m proud of how it all came together by the end.’ – Master Kapow, Director and Videographer

Set to bring his beloved catalogue of music, including this year’s NO MAN’S LAND EP, American singer-songwriter and actor Tyler Hilton will be back in Australia this summer.
Touring for the first time since 2017, Hilton’s Australian return is long-anticipated, as much as it is an excellent opportunity for new waves of fans to connect with the artist through his acclaimed live show. Performing music from across his entire catalogue, including favourites featured in the iconic One Tree Hill series, Hilton is coming back to Australia packed with all the goods.
Releasing No Man’s Land in July, Hilton has been revelling in a new creative chapter of his career. In the years that have passed since his last Australian visit, Hilton has been kept busy with a variety of projects across music and film – including composition work for the Margot Robbie-produced film My Old Ass and writing his first children’s book, Daddy Live In Concert, due for release in 2025.
The release of No Man’s Land signalled a return to rich sonic form for Hilton and from it, the excitement for Hilton’s eventual return to stages soon followed. For Australian fans, this tour is a way for Hilton to reconnect with his “favourite place on Earth”.
“I have been DYING to get back to Oz since I came for the first time ever in ‘17. Meant to get right back then the pandemic happened and it took a sec for me to get everything back on track. I had no concept of Australia before I came. No real idea of the culture or what the cities looked like.. it just hadn’t really spent much time in my brain. I landed in Sydney, hit Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne, and Perth and my life was changed. I was like, “What is this magical place??”
The food! The people! The beaches! The coffee! I still drink flat whites as my daily drink to this day after that trip. I bought an acoustic guitar there from a local luthier to help commemorate my time there. I wanted to hold onto it so badly. Anyway, the point is, I’m BEYOND excited to be returning and so thankful to still have a fan base there to justify the trip!!” TYLER HILTON
Regarding his return to music via the No Man’s Land project, Hilton is open about how creating this record reignited a passion for his artistry and importantly, his connection to the performance aspect of the craft.
Re-emerging from the period of pandemic-induced downtime, as well as time spent on other projects and simply enjoying family life, Hilton has a hunger for being in front of audiences sharing in music together once more.
“I remembered how important playing live was to my soul and my artistry, and how hard it was to replicate anything close to that musically in a studio setting. Not to mention reconnecting with the fans.. who I missed so much during the pandemic!
Once I started I didn’t want to stop and figured I should let that energy carry me around the world for the first time in a long time to reconnect, sing old songs, and share some new ones. This is truly a tour unlike any other I’ve ever done. I’ve never missed the fans more or appreciated them more fully.” TYLER HILTON
For a whole generation of fans, Hilton’s notoriety is timeless – his role as Chris Keller on the iconic teen sports drama One Tree Hill enshrined his position within the legacy of 2000s US television; while his accolades as a performer have continued to grow.
Whether it was portraying a young Elvis Presley in the Academy Award winning film Walk The Line (a film Hilton also featured on the soundtrack of); appearing in Taylor Swift’s iconic ‘Teardrops On My Guitar’ music video; or going on to achieve two Top 40 Billboard Singles and touring with the likes of Swift, Keith Urban, John Mayer and more, Tyler Hilton has maintained a strong following and presence between the worlds of film and music.
Tyler’s tour marks the first shows in Australia for the leading independent concert and entertainment production company MRG LIVE which is based in Canada. The MRG Group has offices and venues in Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, Victoria and New York; operates 9 venues and 10 hospitality properties. The company produces over 500 concerts a year with a wide range performers and is expanding its activity to Australia under the leadership of Josh Lane who had previously been an agent in Australia for over 10 years and is now based in Toronto working MRG on developing an Australian-North American talent pipeline for the company.
PRAISE
“His talent for creating moments of shared vulnerability and joy with his listeners is undeniable.”
MELODIC MAGAZINE
“…carefully crafted arrangements and considered song structures, the record is an intimate piece of Americana…”

One Full Circle. Meadow Number 10. Our Last Festival
“An exciting testament to the sheer diversity of local talent which forms our thriving music landscape” – Beat Magazine
“The Meadow Festival is fast becoming one of the most deftly curated events on the country’s live music calendar” – Dan Condon, ABC (Double J)
“Meadow: is this hyper-local micro-festival the way forward for Australian music?”
– The Guardian
Victoria’s beloved surf coast festival Meadow is returning to the Bambra Bowl in March 2025, for their 10th and final installation of the event. With the full 2025 line-up announced soon, the team are thrilled to welcome American songwriter and multi-instrumentalist MJ Lenderman, who will be back in Australia for a special performance on the Meadow Stage.
From humble beginnings on the back of a delivery truck, powered by a borrowed generator, in a mate’s paddock in Bambra, Meadow has grown and developed a loyal community and reputation for presenting line-ups on the cutting edge of contemporary music each autumn. The small, and every bit iconic, stage has hosted the likes of Kurt Vile, Lucy Dacus, Confidence Man, King Gizzard & The Lizard, Angie McMahon, Stella Donnelly, King Stingray, Camp Cope, Methyl Ethel, TFS, Black Midi and many more emerging and established local artists over the last decade.

MJ Lenderman – Credit: Charlie Boss
A hero with the guitar, a poet with the pen (or perhaps the notepad app on his phone) and a songwriter for the ages, MJ Lenderman has skyrocketed to notoriety with the delivery of his near perfect fourth record, Manning Fireworks. It’s impossible to comprehend how this album carries such a throw-away insouciance but harbours some of the sharpest lyrical couplets you could encounter amidst its layers of distortion and rusted-wire guitar solos. It’s like screaming “I don’t care!” at the top of your lungs whilst carefully putting something back together that you’ve just smashed to pieces but doing it in such a way that it’s a thousand times more meaningful, beautiful and precious than it ever was before.
Following his 2022 breakout record Boat Songs, MJ was seen trotting laps around the globe in fellow breakout act Wednesday, alongside touring his own music, as his audience awaited his next release. Described by Pitchfork as ‘witty, sincere, and the mark of a songwriter finding his voice’, MJ Lenderman will be bringing all of the magic of Manning Fireworks to Bambra next year for Meadow’s final festival.
Every vehicle attending the festival will require a car pass. All proceeds support replanting native trees and shrubs across the festival site and surrounding areas (via East Otway Landcare). Hundreds of baby trees from past plantings will be starting to mature by the time punters arrive in autumn!
The “Bambra Express” bus passes are available for the 2025 event.
A $62 + BF return pass will get you from Melbourne Southern Cross Station to Bambra and back again.
With a cosy capacity of 1500 tickets, Meadow’s intimate environment provides a one off opportunity to experience an all-mighty party, guided by the finest musical programme to bid farewell to the Bambra hills one last time.
Limited Release Tickets are on sale Tuesday 12 November for Meadow Number 10.

Last month a new collaboration between Max Lawrence, Ok Sure and Osopho was released. Eternal is a sunless and restless contemplation on the overwhelming nature of existence. It’s the anthem of a soul screaming into the void.
After playing a show together in Melbourne, electronica soothsayers Ok Sure and Osopho reached out to avant-pop oddity Max Lawrence with a composition of volcanic bass synth modulations, hypnotic pads and pulsing rhythms, sparking Lawrence to write the soaring yet brittle vocals that are painted all over Eternal.
Of the lyrics, Max writes;
“I was thinking a lot about artificial intelligence, and how if these programs are simply cognitive, what if they were also emotional? What would it feel like for senses and emotion to be suddenly switched on for an AI? Without being taught how to self-soothe, I imagine experiencing such sudden emotional heights would be incredibly overwhelming. It’s also a very personal song and concept. I feel like I oscillate between phases of machine-like unfeeling behaviour and then into states of complete emotio-sensory surrender and feel everything all at once, and this contrast feels very human.”
Lawrence’s voice sounds like it’s being torn apart by tendrils of light reaching out in the darkness; an almost parasitic force is capturing the soul’s attention, promising togetherness but delivering isolation. Parallels can be drawn with how mesmerised we are by our devices, our life force being captured at all times in this digital paralysis.
Now, In addition to the original version, a new remix by Ok Sure, expands the world of ‘Eternal’. The Ok Sure remix takes “Eternal” to a new level of exhilaration, cranking up the tempo and injecting a fresh burst of energy. The new version abandons the eerie mood of the original, in favour of big club energy. The Ok Sure remix explore what’s exciting about modern club music. With its chopped vocals, acid basslines and it’s upbeat, percussive drum line, it’s a playful take on the original and perfect for peak time on the dance floor.

Weaving beautiful melodies together with a pop sensibility that demonstrates Mishayla’s clear love for the genre, ‘Clutter’ is another strong step forward for Mishayla. Lyrically, she explores the effects of being completely intoxicated by the presence of another.
“The track is called ‘Clutter’ because it reflects how someone can completely take over your thoughts. It’s that feeling of your mind being full of them, like they’re cluttering your brain in the best way possible.”
“I wanted the song to truly capture the essence of that initial feeling of a crush. From the romantic piano melodies to the lush and lively chorus, every element- I wanted to evoke vulnerability and authenticity. I hope listeners connect with it just as deeply.”

Along with the release of ‘Clutter’, Mishayala also shares its official music video, shot with Nikola Jovanovic in Newcastle. With a clear vision in mind, playing on the aesthetic of the early 2000s, the ‘Clutter’ music video matches the energy of the single with ease.
“There’s a little café across from my university called The Press Coffee and Book House, with such a cosy vibe. I had a friend who works there connect me with the owner, and I was able to rent out the space for the lyric video and photos. My amazing photographer and videographer, Nikola Jokanovic, really captured the warmth and aesthetic I envisioned.” MISHAYLA
Making her debut in 2023 with the release of her first EP BLEED, Mishayla has continued to expand her reach. Performing alongside artists including Taj Ralph, Little Green and Seb Szabo has continued to elevate Mishayla as a live performer – her presence and reputation growing along with her fanbase.
Already a favourite in her local music community, Mishayla’s vocals and intoxicating brand of indie-pop music has been garnering industry attention and support via the likes of Triple J and Triple J Unearthed, while ‘best thing (i never had)’ has also garnered editorial playlist support from Spotify (‘Pop n’ Fresh’), with over 14k streams to date.

Saturday 18th January – Liberty Hall, Sydney
Untitled Group, together with Lane 8’s renowned label ‘This Never Happened,’ have announced two exclusive events set to take place this January. With melodic house DJs Massane and EMBRZ taking on the two headline slots, alongside Samantha Loveridge, the unparalleled, immersive, phone-free event is set to take place in both Melbourne and Sydney.
Created by globally renowned DJ and producer Daniel Goldstein, known as Lane 8, the ‘This Never Happened’ concept was born out of a desire for audiences to fully engage with the music without distraction. Since its inception in 2016, the series has invited fans to experience music more intimately, asking them to put their phones away and “experience the moment, don’t record it,” a philosophy that continues to resonate across each show and gathering.
After debuting the event in Australia to sold-out success in 2023, fans can once again expect a deeply atmospheric show without phone screens or cameras – a rare chance to experience the music wholeheartedly with no distractions.
Headlining the event in both Sydney and Melbourne will be Massane and EMBRZ, supported by Samantha Loveridge.
French melodic house DJ and producer, Massane, is known for his signature blend of sonic textures and ability to evoke deep emotion through his music. The artist has drawn widespread attention since his debut EP ‘Visage 1 (No Return)’ on Lane 8’s label, ‘This Never Happened,’ in 2020 and has recently released his ‘Visage EP 7 (Spin My Head)’ in 2024. His sunrise live set for Dawn on the French Riviera, with its captivating visuals and guitar-led tracks, has amassed over 1.5 million views to date proving he is a tour-de-force in the current melodic house landscape.
Dublin-based DJ, producer and singer-songwriter EMBRZ (Jack Casey) is globally celebrated for his chill house sound that seamlessly blends tranquil house melodies with heartfelt lyrics. Known for hits like “Where You Are” and his latest album In ‘Our Own Way’ (2023), EMBRZ has gained a dedicated following and fan base with over 200 million streams to his name and over a dozen sold-out shows worldwide including New York and Toronto.
This Never Happened’s two exclusive events are supported by Untitled Group. Untitled Group is Australia’s largest independently owned music and events company, renowned as the masterminds behind much-loved festivals, including Beyond The Valley, Pitch Music & Arts, Wildlands, Ability Fest and more.
The first instalment of This Never Happened will take place in Melbourne at 170 Russell on Friday 17 January and will finish up in Sydney at Liberty Hall on Saturday 18 January.

Marking the 25th anniversary of their genre-defining debut, Moon Safari, iconic French electronic duo Air are thrilled to announce their return to Australia for an exclusive Melbourne show on December 4, 2024. Presented as part of the ALWAYS LIVE 2024 series, Air will perform their celebrated Moon Safari album from start to finish, bringing their kaleidoscopic sounds to life at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl for one night only.
Originally released in 1998, Moon Safari quickly became a global sensation, lauded for its lush electronics, swooning melodies, and European retro-futurism. With timeless hits like “Sexy Boy,” “Kelly Watch the Stars,” and “All I Need,” the album captured a generation’s imagination and carved out an enduring place in pop culture, going on to inspire artists from Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker to filmmaker Sofia Coppola. For founding members Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoît Dunckel, both of whom met while studying astrophysics and architecture, Moon Safari represented an ethereal, otherworldly vision that brought their talents to the world stage.
Reflecting on Moon Safari’s lasting impact, Dunckel once noted, “We were a duo doing some electronic thing, dreaming of selling 10,000 copies and being recognized by other musicians as cool. Then suddenly, we met the world.” Today, Moon Safari continues to enchant listeners with its dreamy sonic landscape, what Dunckel describes as “a deep, universal spell, full of love and mystery,” while Godin calls it simply “perfect.”
ALWAYS LIVE Chief Executive Officer Psyche Payne expressed excitement about the addition of Air to the program, stating, “It’s incredible to watch our season grow, giving even more opportunities for people to enjoy live music right here in Victoria. Adding the legendary duo Air to our 2024 program, performing their iconic Moon Safari album in an open-air setting, is an exciting highlight in an already jam-packed 17 days of live music across the state.
