SUBSONIC MUSIC FESTIVAL 2024 UPDATE

SUBSONIC MUSIC FESTIVAL CELEBRATES 15 YEARS OF MUSIC, COMMUNITY, AND CREATIVITY

Subsonic Music Festival Update:

Australia’s Beloved Multi-Day Underground Music & Lifestyle Festival Returns with a Stunning Musical Lineup, Unforgettable Experiences, and a Focus on Emerging Talent

Subsonic Music Festival will be celebrating their 15 year anniversary (Nov 29 – Dec 1)

The event is now a completely BYO festival

It will be a 3 day festival filled with LIVE music, DJs, workshops, lifestyle and food, by the beautiful river in a world heritage listed area of NSW

The festival will feature a wide array of workshops within The Village space, from invigorating ice baths by the river, serene morning yoga sessions, sound immersions and much more

For the Full Artist Line-Up (International & Australian Talent) – CLICK HERE!!

Subsonic Music Festival, one of Australia’s most celebrated underground music and lifestyle festivals, has announced its 15th-anniversary edition, set to take place just north of Sydney from November 29 to December 1, 2024.  Known for its dynamic lineup of music, stunning natural setting, and vibrant community spirit, Subsonic has become a haven for music lovers, creatives, and those seeking an escape from the mainstream.

This year marks a significant milestone for Subsonic as it celebrates 15 years of bringing together diverse communities through music, art, and immersive experiences.  Made even more significant given the current events and festival climate in NSW and Australia, against the odds, Subsonic is determined to show us why we still need music festivals in our lives.

“We’ve come a long way since our first festival, and it’s been incredible to see the community grow and evolve with us,” says Festival Director Scott Commens. “This year’s lineup is a reflection of our journey – a blend of the sounds that have defined us over the years and fresh, innovative artists who are shaping the future of music.”

This year’s musical lineup features a huge array of international, interstate and local talent, including DJs and bands from a diverse range of genres and backgrounds.
International headliners from the U.S and Europe include DJ heavyweights Radio Slave, Toman, Gene on Earth, .Vril, Polygonia and Viken Arman stacked alongside legendary veterans and cult like selectors DJ Zip and Sammy Dee to name only a few.  They are joined by an impressive ‘who’s who’ of local and interstate DJs, live acts and bands.  Sydney’s “it” artist of the moment Becca Hatch makes her much anticipated Subsonic debut, alongside other live acts like Byron Bay boy wonder Moontide, Melbourne’s The Oddness and others.

While the festival industry has seen its share of obstacles, Subsonic Music Festival is moving forward with a renewed sense of purpose and celebration.  As many festivals have been impacted by rising costs, as seen repeatedly in the news cycle, Subsonic has doubled down on its commitment to bringing people together.

15 years is a long time for anything, it is particularly long for a music festival and particularly in the current festival and events climate.  Continuing more broadly on the current state of the music industry and festivals in particular, Vanessa said, “At a time when the music industry and events space are struggling and with many festival cancellations making the news, we (more than ever) still emphatically believe in providing a platform that brings together a broad like-minded community in a way that’s unique and offers a much-needed space for expression, discovery and connection in these testing times.”

And at its core, Subsonic is about that community.  For over a decade, the festival has cultivated a loyal and diverse following of festivalgoers who return year after year to reconnect with old friends and make new ones while welcoming in newcomers to discover it all for the first time.

“Our community is what makes Subsonic special,” says Festival Director, Scott Commens. “Whether it’s through a shared love of music, art, or simply the joy of being together in such a beautiful setting, Subsonic is a place where everyone is welcome, and everyone is part of the experience.”

CYRIL & maryjo Drop Emotive Dance-Pop ‘Still Into You’

by the partae November 2, 2024
written by the partae

Diamond-selling CYRIL Teams Up With Singer maryjo For Energetic Yet Emotive Dance-Pop Ballad “Still Into You.” Out Now on Spinnin’ Records

Artists: CYRIL, maryjo
Title: Still Into You
Label: Spinnin’ Records

Download / Stream

One of the most successful Australian imports from recent years – CYRIL, returns to the airwaves with a new dance-pop ballad – “Still Into You,” for which he teamed up with rising starlet maryjo. The new song tows the line between electronic and girlie-pop with stylish ease as CYRIL fuses a dynamic, upbeat bassline with maryjo‘s soulful vocals as she belts out lyrics that nearly every listener can relate to. With the combination of positive, energetic production and sing-a-long worthy vibes, “Still Into You” is bound to be a hit across multiple genres. CYRIL releases “Still Into You” off the heels of his debut US tour, where he performed in Chicago, San Francisco, New York City, Washington DC, and more cities, as well as his recent release of the 6-track “To The World” EP, which showcased how versatile producer he is. Meanwhile, maryjo is riding the high of her hit single “Nothing to Lose,” with more music on the way.

CYRIL

CYRIL is the Aussie-born artist behind two of the world’s hottest records at the moment, “Stumblin’ In” and his remix of Grammy-nominated artist Disturbed‘s “The Sound of Silence.” Born and raised in the countryside of regional Australia and now based in Darwin, CYRIL, the producer, DJ, and multi-instrumentalist on guitar, piano, and drums, experienced a challenging journey from teenager to adult. He dealt with personal issues and turmoil, causing him to abandon his musical aspirations at times. However, one thing remained true: he always kept his laptop and guitar close to him, keeping the dream alive and constantly refining his craft. His biggest moment thus far came in late 2023 with the release of “Stumblin’ In,” which initially exploded on TikTok before dominating the worlds of streaming and radio. It became the #1 most played song on air in countries like Germany, Poland, Australia, New Zealand, and more, as well as covering some of Spotify and Apple‘s biggest playlists. At the time of writing, the diamond-selling, ARIA-nominated CYRIL boasts an impressive 700M+ streams, sits atop the Shazam charts in over 20 different countries, has gone Platinum and Gold in numerous different countries, and has amassed more than 800K+ followers across socials. With a trajectory as clear as it is limitless, expect to hear a lot more from CYRIL in 2024 and beyond.

maryjo

maryjo has the kind of phenomenal vocal command made for heart-melting piano ballads, often drifting from full-throated belting to a gorgeously fragile delivery inflected with cracks. Though it took years for the artist to overcome her fear of singing in front of others, she worked through her shyness by sharing videos on social media and quickly earned a devoted fan following for her singular and evocative vocal power. The 23-year-old artist continued to capture attention, earning praise for her unique renditions of songs by Ed Sheeran, James Bay, Tate McRae, and Jewel, teaming with the latter for a memorable duet performance of the classic “Foolish Games.” Among her fast-growing catalog of fan favorites are such tracks as “I Woke Up,” joined by an official live performance video filmed earlier this year on Knox‘s “I’m So Good At Being Alone Tour,” streaming now. Other recent highlights include direct support for Alex Warren‘s “Drunk Tattoo,” “Don’t Call Me,” the compelling “Traffic,” and “Cleveland,” the latter celebrating the Cleveland, OH-based artist’s hometown with an official music video showcasing her high school and other meaningful locations plus fashion from several Cleveland-based vendors. With 14M global streams to date, 1,4M social followers, and the expressive “Nothing To Lose” – and more new music on the way – maryjo remains steadfast in her goals, relating breathtaking emotion and musical artistry by simply staying true to her instincts.

R3HAB, Mufasa & Hypeman, RANI Revive ‘Shooting Stars’

R3HAB Teams Up With Viral Sensation Mufasa & Hypeman and Singer RANI For Hopeful Remake of Bag Raiders’ “Shooting Stars.” Out Now on Universal Music

Artists: R3HAB, Mufasa & Hypeman, RANI
Title: Believe (Shooting Stars)
Label: Universal Music/Virgin Records

Download / Stream

The Dutch–Moroccan multi-platinum producer R3HAB has become well-known for infusing electronic music into modern trends and never hesitating to push the boundaries of his sound, and his new single “Believe (Shooting Stars)” is his newest Exhibit A. He teamed up with social media sensations Mufasa & Hypeman, who skyrocketed to fame after the release of Mufasa‘s viral hit “Friday,” which has generated over 1B streams on Spotify alone, and singer RANI, who took the world stage by collaborating with global stars like David Guetta, Martin Jensen, and Jonas Blue, for their hopeful rendition of Bag Raiders‘ “Shooting Stars.” The new version is so much more than merely a catchy song to make memes to, though; R3HAB adds his signature touch with a euphonious, undulating bassline, while Mufasa & Hypeman bring their iconic positive MC abilities and RANI‘s vocals offer a soulful, uplifting touch to the track. “Believe (Shooting Stars)” follows R3HAB‘s recent releases “Are You Happy Now” with Curley G and Crazy Donkey and “All Night” with Sophie and the Giants.

“Life requires hope, a candle in the midst of a storm. This song is a reminder to keep believing. When Mufasa sent the idea to me, I knew it had massive potential, not only because of his iconic viral video, but actually the positive vibes it spreads. RANI joined the record with vocals which were the perfect fit for the message we wanted to share around the world. We hope you love it and feel inspired to keep dreaming big.” – R3HAB

“During a time when the world needed unity more than ever, our viral video dancing to “Shooting Stars” brought people together in a way we never expected. To see it re-emerge in the past months was wonderful, and sharing this new song alongside two talented artists, R3HAB and RANI, are nothing short of incredible. This is truly a full circle moment that we’ll be forever grateful for.” – Mufasa & Hypeman

“I’m beyond excited to be part of this amazing track with R3HAB and Mufasa & Hypeman! The moment I heard it, especially with the iconic ‘Shooting Stars‘ sample by Bag Raiders, I was hooked. The energy and emotion in the song spoke to me right away. It’s all about believing in something bigger, just like wishing on a shooting star. The blend of that nostalgic sample with this new fresh sound creates something truly special, and I can’t wait for everyone to hear it!” – RANI

R3HAB

Multi-platinum DJ and producer Fadil El Ghoul, better known as R3HAB, has been trailblazing his way through dance music for the past fifteen years. From his breakthrough remixes for Rihanna, Drake, Taylor Swift, and Calvin Harris to anthems such as Platinum-certified “All Around The World (La La La)” and “Lullaby,” to his collaborations with the likes of Ava Max, ZAYN, Luis Fonsi, Sean Paul, and more, R3HAB has proven to be one of the most forward-thinking artists in the game. His work has collected over 11 billion streams to date, including more than 1.2B in 2023 alone. R3HAB founded his label CYB3RPVNK in 2016, which has passed 4B streams across platforms since its inception. R3HAB continues to evolve and diversify his sound by working with artists around the globe, pushing the boundaries of dance music as he collaborates across genres and languages. He is Spotify’s Most Discovered Artist, one of Spotify’s top 350 most streamed artists, ranked #18 on the prestigious DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs chart, and has earned over 80 Diamond, Platinum, and Gold certificates. R3HAB has embarked on multiple sold-out worldwide tours and was the first dance music artist to sell out 15 consecutive shows in China. On top of that, he performed at the world’s top festivals, such as EDC, Ultra Music Festival, Tomorrowland, Balaton Sound, Coachella, Summer Sonic Festival, DWP Jakarta. With his combination of innate artistry and innovative attitude, R3HAB has earned his place as a household name in dance music.

Mufasa & Hypeman

Born in the Bronx, New York City, and raised in Virginia, Mufasa is an artist with roots tracing back to Ghana. He first captured the world’s attention as part of an energetic duo with Hypeman, skyrocketing to fame after their viral adaptation of MK‘s remix of Nightcrawlers‘ classic track -“Push The Feeling On This” electrifying rendition, which kicks off with the now-iconic phrase “Friday then, Saturday, Sunday, what!” became a global sensation. The track spread on TikTok with over 212K videos and close to one billion views. “Friday” not only became a crowd favorite but also solidified Mufasa‘s presence in the global music industry. The track soared to number 10 on the Billboard Global Chart and amassed over one billion streams on Spotify, a testament to its widespread appeal and infectious energy. Looking ahead, Mufasa is eager to dive deeper into his musical journey, with plans to focus more on his own music and develop his career as a DJ. His infectious enthusiasm is sure to leave a lasting impact on the music world.

RANI

RANI is a singer, songwriter, and performer who first came to the attention of the music world through a number of high-profile vocals and co-writing dance collaborations, including Sam Feldt‘s “Post Malone,” David Guetta‘s – “Get Together,” Faustix‘s “Crying In The Sun” and Möwe feat Conor Maynard & RANI‘s “Talk to Me.” As evidenced on her 2021 album 396 and this year’s EP, Secret Side, RANI is as much a singer and performer as she is a songwriter, with her confidence in the latter honed during a songwriting session in LA with Olaf Blackwood when she was in her late teens. Born Shannon Hilversum, she takes her name from her middle name Rani, given to her by her parents in honour of her Surinamese grandmother, Sewrani. “Rani means queen in Hindi and having a name that carries this title and honours my grandmother is my motivation to create music that is heartfelt, that is genuine, and that inspires,” she says.

Jude York’s Nostalgic Anthem Captures Youthful Romance

Australian Newcomer Jude York Captures Nostalgia and His Coming-of-age Romanticism With New Single “Those Were The Days.” Out Now via Spinnin’ Records/Warner Music

Artist: Jude York
Title: Those Were The Days
Label: Spinnin’ Records/Warner Music

Download / Stream

Singer-songwriter Jude York captivates audiences once again with his already highly anticipated new single, “Those Were The Days,” out now via Spinnin’ Records/Warner Music. Blending Jude‘s distinct songwriting with a melody rooted in a famous Eastern European folk song from 1924, the track evokes a timeless charm. With its dynamic dance-pop beat and nostalgic yet energetic lyrics, “Those Were The Days” offers a soulful journey that’s already struck a chord with fans. The song has gone viral on TikTok, racking up over 4M views, 300K likes, 3K comments, and people clamoring for its release. This momentum, paired with Jude‘s recent performance at SXSW Sydney 2024 in October and his signing with WME Agency just recently, solidifies his growing presence in the international music scene. As Jude York continues to rise, “Those Were The Days” is poised to be a standout moment in his rapidly ascending career. The song is accompanied by an emotive and yet humorous music video that contrasts the new and old ages. Make sure you don’t miss this one.

“It was a bright spring day on my last birthday, and I was driving down the highway toward a vintage motel that I’d picked out for a photoshoot. I didn’t know what this shoot would be for exactly, but I knew that my music was heading in a new direction – classic, nostalgic, and full of life. Suddenly, ‘Le Temps Des Fleurs‘ by Dalida came on the radio. I instantly recognized the melody but couldn’t figure out how. Showing it to my photographer and makeup artist, we guessed ABBA, something our parents might have played once upon a time. All I knew was that that melody felt like everything I was trying to achieve in my artistry. After digging deep into the recesses of my brain, the phrase ‘Those Were The Days‘ attached itself to the line, and I could hear exactly where I wanted to take the song. As soon as I started playing with the production and recording vocals, I felt I was onto something special. I couldn’t be more excited to share it with the world.” – Jude York

Jude York is the fast-rising Australian star whose self-produced pop delicacies are already leaving fans captivated and begging for more. Growing up rurally with an opera-singer mother and jingle-writer father, Jude had little else to do but create his own musical world. In 2022, Jude debuted with a unique cult-favorite performance in Australia‘s national round for Eurovision before releasing viral hits – “Mr Porcelain” and “Cashew.” With breathtaking vulnerability, Jude quickly garnered a fanbase of like-minded misfits, a community solidified by seeing him live on tour throughout Europe supporting Dean Lewis and later on his own headline tour of Australia. Now, with 6M streams on his first mixtape and a Queensland Music Award under his belt, Jude‘s next viral sensation, “Monaco,” is already signaling a new era for promising new artists with so much more to show.

Dumb Crush Release ‘Witches In The Dark’

by the partae November 1, 2024
written by the partae

Dumb Crush is raw and unapologetic, a response to the dullness and surface-level thrills of 21st-century indulgence. It urges you to break free from the daily grind, lean out your window, and shout. This band unites seasoned DIY musicians Owen Hooper (Mouth Breather, Super Genius), Liam Colbert (Rise Carmine), and Elliott Isaac (Cam Kahin, CJ Wiley), each with hundreds of shows across North America and Europe under their belts and a collective stream count in the millions.

Challenging today’s wave of Type-Beats and formulaic pop, their lead single, Witches In The Dark, was recorded live in just one day on August 30, 2024. Formed in June 2024 and already lined up with two singles, Dumb Crush is a hidden gem about to make waves.

COAST ARCADE new single and video ‘CITY LIMITS’

by the partae November 1, 2024
written by the partae

COAST ARCADE return with empowered new single and video
‘CITY LIMITS’

Following on from the release of their single ‘Baited’ earlier this year, Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland indie group Coast Arcade are back with a new dose of sounds in ‘City Limits’. Further establishing themselves as a band to watch, the latest from the Aotearoa four-piece is an empowering ode to dreams of breaking free in hopes of exploring new opportunities and horizons.

Created at Big Fan Studios, ‘City Limits’ saw Coast Arcade reunited with Clint Murphy (North Atlas, Enter Shikari) and Ryan Smith (L.S. Dunes, Smashing Pumpkins) on mixing and mastering respectively. The sound is inline with what made songs like ‘Baited’, as well as their 2023 EP Next To Me so engaging: a masterful hold on energy and pacing, Coast Arcade’s musical vision is built on a solid band chemistry and delivery of euphoric rhythms and melodies.

“’City Limits’ is an exciting step for us as a band. It really solidifies the direction we want to take with our sound, and we’re stoked to see how our existing fanbase reacts to it, as well as the new listeners it draws in.” COAST ARCADE

Accompanying the release of ‘City Limits’, Coast Arcade have also revealed the single’s official music video – created in their hometown, directed by David Argue.

The song itself, described as being “for anyone who has felt trapped in their surroundings, whether it’s in their hometown or life in general”, rides the energy of simply wanting more for oneself. That yearning for something new and unfamiliar, which can ultimately lead to validation. ‘City Limits’ is a perfect addition to the Coast Arcade catalogue, as they themselves look to reach new heights as a group.

“We feel like this is our best music video yet, it really captures how we feel when we hear the song and it also shows both the serious and fun side of the band.” COAST ARCADE

The trajectory of Coast Arcade since their breakthrough in 2021 has been an impressive one. Developing a killer reputation as a live band supporting artists including Lime Cordiale, Grandson, Bootleg Rascal, The Grogans, The Terrys, Teenage Dads and The Beths, Coast Arcade have gotten their chemistry and a dynamism as live band on lock.

Fronted by Bella Bavin (vocals, guitar), Thom Boynton (drums), Leo Spykerman (bass) and Arlo Birrs (guitar), Coast Arcade have emerged as one of Aotearoa’s most exciting groups on the indie-rock scene.

Their debut EP, 2023’s Next To Me, introduced listeners to the breadth of Coast Arcade’s writing and instrumentation; exciting music building on vibrant melodies and arrangement. Featuring singles ‘Surf Club’ and ‘Highest Heights’ – the latter of which has accrued over 200,000 streams alone – the EP was the perfect statement of intent and a display of the potential this young group had tapped into.

With the release of ‘Baited’, Coast Arcade picked up where they left off, its success earning playlist support from Spotify (Fresh Finds) and international radio play in the USA, Australia and Europe. Reaching #3 on the Hot NZ Singles Chart.

PRAISE

“With their infectious energy, powerful melodies, and insightful lyricism, this captivating band is poised to leave a mark on the music scene both in New Zealand and beyond.”
ONES TO WATCH

“The Beths may need to take a glance over their shoulder – Coast Arcade‘s new stadium-ready indie rock bop Highest Heights is ready to take over.”
NZ MUSICIAN

“Coast Arcade are a bright, young, vibrant band pushing their way into the New Zealand music scene with their surf-indie-rock style that has made impressions with myself and others across the country.”
WELCOME TO THE GIG

Willaris. K Releases Debut Album ‘Everything Is As It Should Be’

by the partae November 1, 2024
written by the partae

Naarm based producer Willaris. K today shares his long-awaited, immersive debut album, Everything Is As It Should Be.

The much-anticipated debut album marks a new chapter for Willaris. K. Everything Is As It Should Be maintains the brooding, pulsating energy that first brought him critical acclaim, while navigating intricate and hard-won emotional highs and lows.

For many years, Willaris. K’s (Jack McAllister) debut album was going to be something else entirely, but when his world began collapsing around him, he was forced to change course. Having always been ‘an emotional, sensitive person,’ it took crafting an album-length project and doing the hard, introspective work in the process, to clock that the heaviness in his music was the articulation he has been bottling up.

New single In Retrospect is one of the softest and most beautiful moments on the album. It was one of the songs that was quickest to finish, with most of the track recorded during one sunset session at Willaris. K’s AirBnb studio in Mount Tambourine, just outside of the Gold Coast.

“This album is and was me spending a lot of time finding peace and that creative space driven purely on instincts and feeling. All I wanted is for it to be true to me and I think I achieved that. Thank you to everyone that helped make it with me, supported me along the way and most importantly you people that decide to spend your time listening to it.” – Willaris. K

The album follows singles ‘Drama On The Edge’ featuring HXXD GXLD, ‘Guard’, emotive ‘I Miss You Now’ written with Chloe Kae (Kllo) & CRUSH3d, dance release ‘Backbackback’ and momentous collaboration with 17x ARIA Nominated iconic dance pioneers The Presets ‘World Collapsing’, which led to a euphoric jamesjamesjames remix. Mixed by Ewan Pearson (The Chemical Brothers, M83, Röyksopp), the highly anticipated 12-track debut album is a true masterclass in immersive and boundary-pushing electronic production.

Willaris. K also recently released track ‘Say’ with Naarm now-London producer Memphis LK and played Naarm’s Abbotsford Covent which sold out in just 48 hours. Spending summer in the UK, he played club shows across London, Galway, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Belfast, sharing the stage with the likes of Tommy Holohan and Shampain. Earlier this year, he closed Pitch One at Pitch Music & Arts Festival playing B2B with jamesjamesjames.

After a career in music took off quicker than what he was prepared for, and bearing the emotional and creative stretch marks, McAllister had undertaken the unwinnable task of morphing himself into the on-stage character he’d created. He spent years trying to become Willaris. K, originally writing a self titled debut record without completely understanding himself. Giving up on that and taking in exactly who he saw in the mirror wasn’t giving up at all.

Once McAllister found that hard-fought peace, everything settled into place. Negative emotions and experiences were manageable. He could channel it all through art.

Everything was, is and will be just as it should be.

Rising Country Star Taylor-Rae Releases Soulful New Single “Drunk Plans” – Out November 1st

by the partae October 31, 2024
written by the partae

Taylor-Rae, a rising force in country music, is set to release her highly anticipated new single, “Drunk Plans,” on November 1 via Symphonic Distribution. This track, available on all streaming platforms, masterfully captures Taylor-Rae’s powerhouse vocals while delivering a rich blend of country soul. Produced by Brad Hill (Brett Young, Maren Morris, Brothers Osborne), “Drunk Plans” serves as the lead single from her upcoming EP and is already making waves at Country Radio.

In “Drunk Plans,” Taylor-Rae delves into themes of self-awareness and the honesty that accompanies unfulfilled plans. The lyrics are an introspective nod to the common realization that not every plan is meant to be – and sometimes, that’s just fine. This nuanced approach resonates through her signature vocal prowess, adding an extra layer of depth and authenticity to the song.

Alberta-raised and Nashville-based, Taylor-Rae has been recognized widely for her musical achievements. After winning two British Columbia Country Music Association Awards in 2023 for her ballad “If This Is Love,” which boasts over 1.5 million streams and Top 60 Canadian Country radio placement, Taylor-Rae also secured Rogers Media’s “One To Watch” title. She celebrated New Year’s Eve by opening for Josh Ross at Edmonton’s Ice District and followed it up with a Whiskey Jam debut in Nashville.

This year, Taylor-Rae reached new heights with performances at iconic events, including her first CMA Fest in Nashville alongside Dolly Parton and appearances at Canadian festivals such as Boots and Hearts. Her recent single, “Sendin’ Myself to Church,” garnered strong playlist support, while media features on eTalk, Global’s The Morning Show, Breakfast Television, and Much Music have amplified her presence. As 2024 draws to a close, she’ll take the stage in Nashville’s renowned Song Suffragettes writer’s round.

Taylor-Rae is available for virtual and email interviews in support of the “Drunk Plans” release. Don’t miss your chance to connect with one of country music’s brightest rising stars.

Listen to “Drunk Plans” on November 1st on all streaming platforms.

DZ Deathrays announce Weekend Warriors Regional Aus Tour this 2025

by the partae October 31, 2024
written by the partae

DZ DEATHRAYS ANNOUNCE WEEKEND WARRIORS AUS REGIONAL TOUR THIS FEB – APRIL 2025

SUPPORTED BY LAST QUOKKA, PRETTY UGLYS, DRUNK MUMS, MANNEQUIN DEATH SQUAD, SEMANTICS, TRIM REAPER, PRIVATE WIVES, GOON GREMLINES, ITCHY & THE NITS, KORDEROY, NO LONGER KIDS & MORE

PRAISE FOR DZ DEATHRAYS

ARIA Best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Album (Bloodstreams, Black Rat)
AIR Best Independent Hard Rock or Punk Album (Bloodstreams, Black Rat, Bloody Lovely
AIR Best Independent Punk Album or EP (Positive Rising: Pt 1)

“More than worth going deaf to”
Pitchfork

“Brilliant videos and songs and a great sense of humour and style”
Mark Ronson

“tapping back into the colourful, nigh-on hedonistic experimentalism of their early work… while amping up the shred to reach a level of raw, primal punk energy only hinted at on previous efforts. The title stands for ‘Remember It’s For Fun’, and here DZ Deathrays wholeheartedly embody that ethos”
NME Australia

“Moody Aussie noisemakers DZ Deathrays bring the concept album back to life. Again…”
Kerrang (4/5)

“The world may be a mess, but there’s still fun to be had, and DZ Deathrays deliver it in spades. A tactile and vivacious undertaking that makes you think while lashing you with oscillating punk and more modern textures, R.I.F.F is modern rock cooked to perfection”
Hysteria (9/10)

“They speak to my soul. It just feels good listening to their music”
MAY-A

“It’s built on the intuitive interplay between Parsons and Ewbank, whose heavily textured playing doesn’t always sound like guitars — more like a twin malevolent force that every so often waxes celestial, like sunlight spearing through storm clouds”
The Australian (4/5)

Australian rock heavyweights DZ Deathrays are hitting the road with their Weekend Warriors Regional Aus Tour starting in Feb through to April 2025, bringing along a powerhouse lineup of local talent for fans across the country. Currently on the road for their UK and European tour celebrating the 10th anniversary of Black Rat, DZ Deathrays will return back on Australian soil ready to bring their electrifying energy to regional stages alongside punk and rock acts Last Quokka, Pretty Uglys, Drunk Mums, Mannequin Death Squad, Semantics, Trim Reaper, Private Wives, Goon Gremlins, Itchy & The Nits, Korderoy, No Longer Kids and more.

The tour marks the first national shows since the release of their playful new single, ‘First Night Fever’, celebrated by triple j, Rolling Stone, Wall of Sound, and more. The track sets the tone for what promises to be an unforgettable run of live shows, pairing DZ Deathrays’ thunderous sound with a fresh burst of energy and nostalgia. You can listen back and watch here.

Joining DZ Deathrays are some of the country’s most exciting punk and rock acts. Perth’s Last Quokka, known for their politically charged lyrics and gritty, high-energy performances, have been steadily gaining a following both locally and internationally. Signed to French punk label Mass Prod, Last Quokka’s latest single ‘Cost of Living’ offers a taste of their upcoming LP and continues to build on the momentum from their Australian Music Prize-nominated album, Red Dirt. Alongside them are Pretty Uglys, whose feel-good garage rock has seen them support major acts like Skegss and Pacific Avenue. Fans can expect to hear new tracks from their anticipated debut album, led by the infectious single ‘Supernova’.

DZ Deathrays will also be joined by Melbourne’s rowdy garage rockers Drunk Mums, who are back from a four-year hiatus with their new single ‘Livin’ at Night’. The track previews their forthcoming album, Beer Baby, set for release on March 7, 2025, and captures the band’s irreverent style that celebrates living in the moment. Also supporting are, Mannequin Death Squad—a fierce Melbourne duo known for their DIY ethic and raw energy—will deliver their grungy, pop-punk fusion that has made them a must-see act following their recent SXSW Sydney appearances and self-funded DIY or DIE tour across Europe. See the full details of supports below.

Since their inception, DZ Deathrays have secured a place as one of the most recognisable names in modern Australian rock, initially propelled by the roaring success of their debut album Bloodstreams, which became synonymous with their thunderous sound. They evolved with a more refined edge on their sophomore release, Black Rat, expanding beyond their garage rock origins into an award-winning powerhouse, touring globally and supporting major acts like The Foo Fighters, Ratatat, Biffy Clyro, and Grinspoon. Alongside these monumental tours, DZ Deathrays have headlined iconic venues like The Tivoli, The Enmore, and The Forum.

Beloved by a dedicated fanbase for their deft blend of technical skill and mischievous energy, DZ Deathrays have amassed an impressive list of festival performances, playing at Splendour in the Grass, Falls Festival, and St. Jerome’s Laneway, along with international stages like SXSW, Reading, and Leeds Festival. Their music has consistently resonated with fans, earning multiple entries in triple j’s Hottest 100. With recent LPs like R.I.F.F. and Bloody Lovely, as well as the critically celebrated twin concept albums Positive Rising: Part 1 and Part 2, DZ Deathrays, composed of Shane Parsons, Simon Ridley, and Lachlan Ewbank, remain a vital force in the music scene.

‘First Night Fever’ is out now, buy/stream it here.
