AFTER RELEASING HEARTFELT SINGLE “RAIN.”, FUNDRAISING FOR AUSTRALIAN FIRE & DROUGHT RELIEF, SISTER DUO LIKE ANGELS RETURN WITH “TUNNEL VISION”

by the partae May 6, 2020
written by the partae

After receiving an overwhelming response to their debut single “Rain.” (with 100% of proceeds made by the song being donated to Australian bushfire & drought relief organisations), rising pop sensation Like Angels return with their next hit single “Tunnel Vision” dropping May 15th.

Naturally gifted in music from a young age & fascinated by the mystique of songwriting (as influenced by the likes of Ryan Tedder, Taylor Swift, Switchfoot & NF); Like Angels sisters Emmalisa and Sarah have developed a remarkable ability to pen meaningful, honest lyrics that connect with each listener on an emotional level.

Their debut single “Rain.”, released in Dec 2019 received notable media attention from TikTok Star Nat Alise; Australian Community Media (The Advertiser); Good Morning Macarthur and Ava’s World Magazine and was picked up by radio stations nationwide, including The Breeze FM; Macarthur’s Station C91.3FM; Hobart FM; South Australia’s 5GTR FM and several more.

“Rain.” showcased Like Angels’ ability to discuss real issues through clever lyric and melody; and now “Tunnel Vision” continues to do this – but with a fresh new sound & eye-catching optical illusion cover art.

“Tunnel Vision” explores the confusion and frustration often felt when people actively choose to avoid or ignore you: a familiar situation we have all found ourselves in at some point in our lives.

The song’s confrontational lyrics, contrasted with it’s light hearted, playful & mischievous production (including some unconventional sound samples!) encourages listeners to face uncomfortable situations, and speak up for themselves; to work towards solving problems instead of running from them.

Produced by Philippe-Marc Anquetil (Little Mix, One Direction, Jessie J, Ruel), the song’s mesmerising vocal harmonies, thought provoking lyrics and exciting three-dimensional soundscape will have you hooked from the very first note.

“Tunnel Vision” will be available on all streaming services on the 15th May 2020 as the first of several upcoming releases by Like Angels.

Where are you currently based?  I'm currently living in an attic in Redfern, Sydney. I'm originally from Bundaberg QLD, then I lived in Ireland for a few years, returned to Australia and moved to Sydney.  Your new single ILy Alley is out now, what influenced the sound and songwriting for this track?  Alley, the original RACKETT bass player and BFF influenced the narrative and the sound was influenced by Gold Frapp. My friend and producer Dave Hammer has worked with RACKETT from the start of this journey, producing my first single BATS in 2017. Dave came to me with an idea for a song that's meaning was a double entendre, one being a street alley, a metaphor for choosing the path of love and the other one being about my friendship with Alley and everything we've been through as friends and band wives. The piano, melody and lyrics were the foundation for the song, then Dave worked his magic touch on production.  How did you go about writing Ily Alley? Dave started with the chorus 'mumma to a bubba, bubba to the universe, go wonder madly', from there, he created the piano part and we workshopped the verses. It was an emotional process, each time Dave would add something to it and I'd hear it, I would cry. The production on the track is so beautiful.  Where and when did you record/produce? We recorded the song as part of an eight-track collection on RKT2.0 music, recorded and produced in Sydney across several studios. I've shared Machinations, Oxytoxic and now ILY Alley from that collection and have more to share over the coming months.  How did the concept for the film clip come about? The video is a visual representation of what I see in my head when I listen to ILY Alley. All those memories come flooding back and I wanted to see if I could find physical copies of these moments. I searched everywhere, on broken hard drives, camcorder cards, Instagram, Youtube, to collect all these memories captured by me, friends and fans at shows. Once I had collected all the footage, I cut it together to reflect the way I experience it, chronologically, from when we lived together in a decrepit mansion as a band, through to the moment in the studio we found out Alley was pregnant and the arrival of baby Billy. What did you find most challenging and rewarding during the creation of the film clip? The most challenging part was feeling regret. That's hard to admit because I love my new music so much and it's not a reflection of regretting where I am now, but more regret for the friendships I've lost along the way. The most rewarding part is looking at all the insane creative concepts we brought to life from dressing up in space suits to shaving my head live on stage and all the hard work that went into constantly touring and releasing music.  Who are you listening to at the moment? Right now I'm listening to A$AP Rocky, 070 Shake, Charli XCX and Tina Turner. I like to listen to 80s ballads just to see if I can sing along and hit those high notes like Whitney Houston. At night when the city is empty, I like to climb this hill in a park near my house that overloads a driving range and the whole city and blast A$AP rocky.  What do you like to do away from music? To be honest there isn't much of my life that doesn't revolve around music, aside from sleeping and even then most of my dreams are of me talking to Miley Cyrus about music. If I'm not writing or performing myself, I'm working on a new TV show that's about music.  You're producing the new Loud n Queer TV show, please tell us more: Loud N Queer TV is aired every Friday night at 8PM on Heaps Gay Facebook. It's a digital replica of my favourite night out; live music and drag queens, with performances by artists from all around the world and guest appearances in the studio. The show is an opportunity for local Sydney artists to be captured beautifully on film by the DPLR team from Create or Die Studios and gives audiences a high-quality experience and opportunity to discover and connect with new artists. My main role in the show is producing. We've had artists like Jess B (NZ), Jackie Mendoza (USA), Lupa J (AUS), Theia (NZ) and many more on the show. Karaoke, DJ sets by Charlie Villas, Dance-offs, drag queens, skits, interviews and news by Ruby Miles. It's so much fun. You can watch all four episodes here > https://www.facebook.com/watch/heapsgayparties/1663413657143541/ What's planned for 2020? For the immediate future, I'll be continuing to produce Loud n Queer TV and making all my friends and family listen to ILY Alley. Throughout the year I'll be releasing more music I made with Dave Hammer and hopefully be back on stage before Christmas.  Favourite food and place to hangout? My favourite place to hang out is at Create or Die Studios on set filming Loud n Queer TV and my favourite food is champagne (can I say that?)

"Blacksheepish" was written and performed by TheWorst and was produced by Will Holland (Pixies, Fall Out Boy, Dead Can Dance). The song was engineered, mixed, and mastered at Chillhouse Studios in Boston, MA.  The video was created and directed by Ryan Ordway.  The song is the first sneak peak of the band's, as of yet untitled-forthcoming album, and the first new material being released since their critically acclaimed debut, Jane Doe Embryo (RascalZRecordZ 2017), as well as a tribute to their fallen friend Brittany Goldych, who commited suicide in 2017.  Responding through the grief, lead singer Brooke Binion would use dealing with loss as a motivation to finally beat a decade long addiction to opiates and heroin. The band is currently finishing their new album during the quarantine.

LEIFUR JAMES CAPTIVATES WITH HYPNOTIC, PERCUSSIVE NEW SINGLE 'RITUAL' LISTEN TO 'RITUAL' HERE THE FOURTH SINGLE TAKEN FROM HIS FORTHCOMING ALBUM 'ANGEL IN DISGUISE' OUT 5TH JUNE VIA NIGHT TIME STORIES PRE-ORDER 'ANGEL IN DISGUISE' HERE Leifur James - 'Ritual'  OUT NOW  'Angel in Disguise' Album Release: 5th June 2020, via Night Time Stories ‘The apex of the LP arrives at Ritual and the Coby Sey-featuring track Alien, both of which see James at his most explorative, driving tension into the album’ - Crack Magazine. Today, London based experimental producer and composer Leifur James unveils his latest offering, ‘Ritual’. His most club ready electronic affair yet, ‘Ritual’ comes exactly one month prior to James’ eagerly awaited album, Angel in Disguise, due for release 5th June 2020 via Night Time Stories (sister label to the coveted ‘LateNightTales’). The follow up to his cinematic, audio-visual piece ‘Angel In Disguise’, ‘Ritual’ is a sonic portrayal of circles and life moving through motions that sees Leifur James dive further into the electronic realm. Machine sounds and ethereal elements to get lost in, James’ unique take on electronica and deep techno adds new depth to the album narrative. Angel In Disguise promises a masterful blend of harmonic vocals from James himself as well as nuanced electronic soundscapes and vibrant modular based percussion. This exciting project which has seen early support from the likes of CRACK, Mixmag, DJ Mag, Boiler Room 4:3 and more is expected to make waves and see James step up, exhibiting his discerning ear and production craft on a seminal label.  ‘Ritual’ follows the video for album title-track ‘Angel in Disguise’, a collaborative piece with Balázs Simon (previously producing the critically acclaimed ‘Wurlitzer’ project which saw widespread support from the likes of Boiler Room, CLASH, Motionographer, the UK and Berlin Music Video Awards, the London Short Film Festival, Dublin International Film Festival and more) ‘‘Angel In Disguise‘ is one of the releases biggest statements yet - an audio-visual exploration of our damaged relationship with planet earth, soundtracked by James’ poignant melodies questioning our failure to respect mother nature. The piece stitches James’ complex emotional chords and Balazs’ desire to highlight the fragility of the world into a beautiful, short visual tale.  Delving into UK and European venues to showcase his ever-evolving live show, James’ tour has been rescheduled and will kick off October 2020 in Amsterdam’s Melkweg, before heading to his biggest London show to date at Village Underground, plus Berlin’s Burg Schnabel, and AB Brussels with further dates yet to be announced.   Leifur James' 'Angel In Disguise' LP will be available 5th June via Night Time Stories and is available to pre-order here.  Connect with Leifur James

Emulating warmth and soul, Brisbane based singer-songwriter, The Letter Elle makes a bold return with a self-produced track, 'Sunrise', premiered via triple j's Roots 'n All. Showcasing her skill for production, Elle Emery has created a new track ladened with smooth electric guitar riffs, crisp percussion elements, and raspy R&B and Jazz tinged vocals. 'Sunrise' is a retrospective and picturesque song inspired by living in the moment and finding solace. “Sunrise is, at first glance, a love song about enjoying just being in the moment and not putting pressure on what it ‘should be’ or where the future is going,” explains Elle.  “I think that subconsciously I wrote this song to myself about where I am currently at in my life. At the end of last year, I graduated uni and had an injury that prevented me from singing at all for months. It reminded me of my love for just doing things purely for the enjoyment. I hope that in this scary and uncertain time, this song can help people to remember they just need to take a step back and enjoy life for what it is. There’s no need for a big, complicated plan and we have to just take life day by day,” continues Elle. The single arrives accompanied by a video clip shot along the beaches of Coolum in the Sunshine Coast where Elle is originally from. Filmed and edited by her and her partner, the music video gracefully compliments the song's tone, whilst visually capturing the sun rising to match the song's title. "I felt it really important to shoot this clip back in my home town. Coolum is where I became who I am and where I truly feel at home. I thought it only fitting to shoot this style of video somewhere that means so much to me," adds Elle.  Musically inspired by artists such as Sahara Beck and Meg Mac, The Letter Elle has become a staple within Brisbane's local live music scene. Showcasing her talent across a number of events including Brisbane's indie festival Sesh & The City, whilst sharing stages with names such as  Hazel Mei, Sahara Beck, Hemingway and Regurgitator. The Letter Elle is also a finalist in the Brisbane City Council's 2020 QUBE Effect.    ‘Sunrise’ is OUT NOW. CONNECT ONLINE WITH THE LETTER ELLE

RACKETT shares new love ballad ILY Alley (I Love You, Alley), a tribute to former RACKETT bass player Alley that celebrates friendship. The song is the third single from the newly transformed RACKETT, following the release of Machinations and Oxytoxic.  ILY Alley was produced by Dave Hammer, echoing the intricate production reminiscent of his work on JEFFE’s ‘Undecided’. Layers of piano and vocals amidst a synthetic soundscape, ILY Alley showcases a softer side of RACKETT that contrasts her repertoire of abrasive electro pop-punk. With lyrics ‘swapping cassettes, sharing regrets, karaoke drunk duets’, ILY Alley tells a story of the former band members at a crossroad. Whilst in the studio tracking guitars for their last EP in 2018 as a band, it was revealed that Alley was going to become a mum, leading the band to make a heartwrenching decision that changed the course of their lives. After my tour for ILY Alley was cancelled due to (you know what), I had an idea to put on a little show from my bedroom, just like my live show > amazing music and drag queens. I bought a green screen and lights off amazon. The production exploded into a 2hr live TV Show called Loud N Queer when I partnered with Heaps Gay. Create or Die and DPLR came onboard giving us access to their broadcasting studio and Listen Up Music as our sponsor. Now I'm a TV producer (WTF) of an amazing show with DJ's, live music, drag queens, comedy and dancing. Every Friday night at 8PM on Heaps Gay Facebook we live broadcast 2hrs of diverse talent performing from around the world to raise money for artists and keep us entertained and connected. We've aired 3 episodes so far with guests like Jess B, Nimmo, Jordan Raskopoulos, Felicia Foxx, Rhys Lightning, Asta, Rachel Maria Cox, Doodad and Fandango +++. German talents Júlio Cruz and Momo Arigato join forces for a superb new deep house release for Istanbul based imprint Petra, with each artist taking care of two originals each. Cologne native's Júlio Cruz makes tracks that are close to the dance floor with a chill vibe that really makes a mark. His opener Chercher La Nuit is a bubbling house cut with a warm and fat bassline. Lush chords bring light and emotion and carry you away. Dancing Love Affair has a big heart with soulful chords and disco tinged beats getting you moving. Leipzig's Momo Arigato's tracks represent the pure side of house music with sampled elements brings them alive and have come on labels like Friend in Need and Bigbait before now Mario's Rhythm is a raw, DIY groove with rough edged kicks and blasts of bass that are smoothed out with lush chords and experimental modulated sounds. Don't Believe is a dreamy track with cloudy pads and lumpy beats that are perfectly atmospheric and authentic. This then is a truly killer EP. https://soundcloud.com/juliocruz1 https://soundcloud.com/mwff24

Don’t Believe is a dreamy track with cloudy pads and lumpy beats that are perfectly atmospheric and authentic. This then is a truly killer EP.

Premiering last night as Annie Mac’s ‘Hottest Record’, today Arlo Parks has delivered her latest sonic offering; the beguiling 'Black Dog', a song she describes as being about "the feeling of helplessness that comes along with watching a loved one suffer." Out today via Transgressive, you can also watch the emotionally charged accompanying video clip, directed by long time collaborator Molly Burdett - check it out via the link below. WATCH 'BLACK DOG' OFFICIAL VIDEO Further discussing the meaning behind the track, the ever poignant Arlo explains "it's supposed to make people who are struggling feel less isolated and start a conversation surrounding the prevalence of mental health issues in today's world." Particularly fitting, given she has just become an ambassador for CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably). 'Black Dog' is the follow up to recent single 'Eugene', which was released earlier this year alongside a video directed by Loyle Carner and his brother Ryan (The Coyle-Larner Brothers) and follows her run of sold out European and UK headline shows. The song has been her most successful to date, amassing 5,000,000 streams and featuring on the BBC Radio 1 playlist. Prior to the year’s new music releases, Arlo ended 2019 with a compilation of her singles to date titled Super Sad Generation, and was included in a multitude of tips for 2020 (she was featured in the coveted BBC Sound Poll, as well as receiving the backing of NME, DIY, Dazed, Hunger, Gay Times, Evening Standard, Metro, Dork, VEVO and many more). It rounded off a phenomenal twelve months for the young musician/poet, who released her debut single 'Cola' at the start of 2019 and subsequently headlined her first London show, played to a packed out crowd at Glastonbury (where she was also invited to perform live on BBC television), debuted her live offering across Europe, and embarked on two support tours with Loyle Carner & Jordan Rakei. More recently, whilst in Paris, Arlo covered Patti Smith's 'Redondo Beach' for La Blogotheque - watch that and her being interviewed about punk music here. Whilst also featuring alongside Dave from Glass Animals for a live cover version of Drake single, ‘Hotline Bling’.

Marlon Williams Premiers Live At Auckland Town Hall This Weekend

“a fond throwback to Roy Orbison and Chris Isaak” – New York Times at SXSW

“no one at Mercy Lounge dared breathe” – Rolling Stone Magazine

“Holy shit what a voice!” – Paste Magazine

“perfect songs but delivered to a devilish intensity” – Publico.pt

Marlon Williams will premiere the full live concert film from his acclaimed 2019 release Live at Auckland Town Hall this weekend, sharing the 109 minute show for free across YouTube and Facebook, followed by a live Q&A with fans.

Marlon has joined many of his musician friends in embracing online shows during Covid-19, including performances for Music On The Home Front, Isol-Aid, and a special Undercover series for Radio New Zealand, talking with Finn Andrews of The Veils and covering each other’s’ songs.

Live at Auckland Town Hall was released in February 2019 alongside footage of Marlon’s cover of Barry Gibb’s Carried Away, but the rest of the concert film has been hiding away, waiting for a moment when music fans would really need to experience the pure joys of a singer and band in full flight on stage, in harmony with each other and the audience. Never has a Marlon Williams performance been needed more than now.

The concert showcases why Williams is famed for having one of the greatest voices of his generation, and why in the past two years he has been invited to perform duets with some of the worlds most celebrated artists including Lorde, Florence + The Machine, Courtney Barnett, Brandi Carlile, and Yo-Yo Ma.

Live at Auckland Town Hall features interpretations of songs by Screaming Jay Hawkins, Barry Gibb, Yoko Ono, and the late Lhasa De Sela, plus select songs from Williams self-titled album and his most recent LP Make Way For Love, which picked up the New Zealand Music Award for Album of the Year and APRA Silver Scroll for Song of the Year in 2018.

This Sunday, get the house together on the couch, and settle in for a very special, one-off viewing of Marlon Williams Live at Auckland Town Hall concert film.

Award-winning live music photographer Zo Damage, who has been capturing gigs in Melbourne for over a decade, presents the ‘Support Live Music’ initiative - a new fundraising endeavour aimed at raising much-needed funds for Melbourne’s smaller live music venues. For a limited time, fans have the chance to purchase Zo’s original hand-signed prints at a discounted price, with 20% of the print sale donated to the venue the photo was captured in. For those prints captured outside of Melbourne's smaller venues, fans can nominate a venue to donate the funds to. According to Zo, the ‘Support Live Music’ initiative allows her to give back to the venues that have always supported her ambitious photography endeavours within their space.  “The foundation of my work as a photographer has been in live music culture and the underground and emerging live music scene,” Zo says. “Due to the COVID-19 crisis, the entertainment industry finds itself shut down and in disarray. I believe there is something I can do to support a number of local live music venues, bring some joy to your walls and a little coin to my family.” Music Victoria CEO Patrick Donovan welcomed Zo’s contribution, saying Zo's work has always been an integral piece of Melbourne’s music scene. “Music Victoria has long recognised Zo’s incredible contribution to Melbourne’s live music scene, and in 2017, Music Victoria awarded Zo with an Outstanding Achievement Award at the Age Music Victoria Awards,” Donovan says. “I encourage people to buy Zo’s beautiful works of art, to remind people of what they’re missing and to support Victoria’s iconic venues when they need it the most.” Zo’s work can be found in The Australian Music Vault, which features her work, ‘SLAM Rally (II)’ as a signature piece in the historic collection, and in The Amplifier, Arts Centre Melbourne’s 2020 SLAM Rally installation, where Zo’s photography is a primary feature of the 360° degree experience. Her previous projects have included ‘Eve’, a photography series celebrating women in live music, and the widely commended ‘365 Days’ project, which saw Zo attend a live gig in Melbourne every night for a year and photographing the live act for the series. The project culminated in the photography book, 365 Days Project. For more information on the ‘Support Live Music’ initiative and to purchase a piece, visit Zo's Support Live Music website.

Delivered Live Announces Lineup for Episode 6

by the partae May 5, 2020
written by the partae
As Delivered Live passes the halfway mark of its 10 episode run, the reputation for the show as giving artists a chance to perform a real, amplified gig, whilst injecting cash back into the live music economy, is growing.
Guests on the show have spoken at length about how much they have missed performing live on a stage, how much they’ve missed their band mates and how much they’ve missed the thrill of performing.
Tickets start from as little as $10 and can be purchased HERE (perfect gift for Mothers Day!)

This week’s episode brings Deborah Conway (performing with Willy Zygier) to the stage, along with folk-pop singer-songwriter Alex The Astronaut, and Bendigo singer-songwriter and producer Yergurl.

Bringing the laughs as always will be Sami Shah at the desk, plus comedian Denise Scott, and as always the show will feature an expert panel discussion hosted by Myf Warhurst – all brought to you by host with the most, Henry Wagons!

Delivered Live episodes are free to watch, but tickets are available for purchase and funds will be going back into the pockets of the artists and comedians performing on the show, as well as to their nominated venue and crew member of choice, helping to replace some of the live income they have lost. To date, Delivered Live has injected over $320,000 back into the live music economy, with over 141 musicians, plus comedians, crew members, agents, managers, backline companies and venues all receiving a share of funds.

For this week’s event the recipients of those funds are as follows:
Yergurl nominates – The Gasometer hotel and her band
Alex The Astronaut nominates – The Corner Hotel and Mark Smithers
Deborah Conway nominates – The Jazz Lab and Jeremy Jankie

Delivered, Live Episode 6, Saturday 9th May at 7.30pm

Smasher Interview

by the partae May 4, 2020
written by the partae

Where did the name Smasher come from?

I got the name from DJ’ing under 18 club events, that was where the name was born and was the first time i had a chance to play in front of a decent size crowd people would always say you smashed it !!

How long have you been performing under that alias?

Over 20 years now.

Where are you currently based?

Im based in Essex.

How has your lockdown experience been so far?

Ive had a lot to focus on with the album being released so that has kept me busy but generally id say ok, i think I’ve used the time to keep creative as possible the biggest hurdle for me and my family has been keeping our daughter busy as the boredom has kicked in i feel sorry for the children i think they are finding it hard.

How did you first start playing music?

When i discovered turntables id say around 1997, i started visiting record shops on a weekly basis collecting as much records as i could afford this was where the journey started for me.

Your debut album ‘Locked In Locked On’ via On Top Records is out now, what influenced the sound and songwriting for this album?

The album is scattered with the 2 step/garage sound i fell in love with coming up on the london pirate radio scene in the late 90s/00s, the songwriting has been very much an organic process depending of the feel of the music.

How did you go about writing the album?

It was really a case of the records wrote themselves my whole approach is based on vibe, if the vibes hits then the words/melody starts to flow a lot of the lyrics started from freestyle i like to write without paper i find things flow much more natural.

Where and when did you record/produce and who with?

I recorded everything at my studio in east london over the space of a year, i produced every record on the album apart from track 12 which is produced by “prescribe da vibe”, i worked very closely with my long time friend a collaborator Aaron greenwood on the project.

How did you approach the recording sessions?

Every session was different some tracks may have been an 8 bar loop and then developed more or in other cases some records was wrote and recorded within the space of a few hours usually when the creative spark is there it all comes together quickly.

What programs/instruments did you use to write/record/produce?

Every song was recorded and mixed using Logic Pro x, using various different synth plug ins all vocals was recorded on My SE Z5600a II

What did you find most challenging and rewarding during the creation of the album?

The most challenging part of the process id say is the mixing / mastering stage, the most rewarding part is receiving great feedback from the listeners I’ve been overwhelmed with the response so far.

Who are you listening to at the moment?

To keep my spirits high I’ve been listening to a-lot of reggae over the lockdown period.

What do you like to do away from music?

Spending time with my family is important to me, when the sun is out i quite enjoy gardening.

What’s planned for 2020?

I will let the album run its course but generally i will keep the releases coming via the label “On Top Records” there will be no shortage of music, id love to do a live show when we are out of the lockdown so fingers crossed that can happen.

Favourite food and place to hangout?

Im a sucker for good food and I’m quite easily pleased Caribbean food is up there for me, a glass of red in my garden and I’m happy 🙂

EAUXMAR – 'GIVEN AWAY / GIVEN BACK' OUT NOW Dutch musician/producer EAUXMAR has shown a high level of inquisitiveness for creating experimental, new-age music over the last couple of years. Hailing from the Netherlands and having roots in Morocco, the 19-year-old honors his heritage by incorporating organic instrumentation over electronic production elements, all built into his new release ‘Given Away / Given Back’.   Exploring and developing his signature sound, EAUXMAR draws inspiration from the early work of James Blake and Kanye West. An emotive track, he moulds 90s R&B samples with the creative use of drums, piano, chimes, bird chirps and dreamy filtered vocals. All coming together to create a unique sounding release with energy but still evoking feelings of floating on a cloud.    EAUXMAR introduced his energetic yet still downtempo sound on his debut EP, ‘Tell Me’, showcasing his experimentation with pitch that can be heard across his work. He distinguishes himself using ethereal sound design and blurring the lines between Electronic, R&B and Indie.    Already having had multiple DJ gigs, notably including Lollapalooza Berlin, EAUXMAR debuted his first-ever live show at Eurosonic Noorderslag, renowned for being a key exchange and networking platform for European music with a proven track record for helping new acts break into the international music scene – a sure one to watch for 2020.   EAUXMAR’s “Given Away/Given Back” is out now Connect With EAUXMAR

Music Victoria Offering Free Memberships ‘Til The End Of The Financial Year

by the partae May 4, 2020
written by the partae
Victoria’s peak body for contemporary music Music Victoria is offering support during the COVID-19 crisis by offering FREE one year memberships!
Music Victoria acknowledges the hardship faced by the music community during the Covid-19 crisis and is offering support to the sector by making their annual membership free for one year whether you’re an individual, a band, or a business* (membership usually ranges from $33 – $440, depending on the membership type).
This offer is open from Monday 4th of May – Tuesday 30th of June 2020.

Sign up at musicvictoria.com.au

This is just one way Music Victoria is helping the music community, which has been hit hard by this pandemic.
They’ve also been offering free weekly online workshops, conducting industry roundtables to connect affected members of the community, and advocating to get the big issues communicated to government.
By signing up, you’ll not only be accessing member benefits, you’ll be helping build support for the Victorian Music Industry! The more numbers we have, the greater our collective voice.

A great reminder of this is the 2010 Save Live Australia’s Music (SLAM) rally, where a crowd of more than 10,000 people brought the CBD to a standstill in support of live music venues. At the time, Victoria was the only Australian State or territory without an independent non-for-profit contemporary music peak body to represent the industry’s interests and communicate needs to government.  Music Victoria emerged from the community’s commitment to ensure Victoria’s live music scene had an all-important voice for the future.
There’s no better time than now to become a member and keep Victoria’s music community strong and spoken for.
Members receive many benefits including discounts on music related services and shops as well as priority access to our professional development program. Full list of benefits are HERE
‘’Music Victoria has spoken with many of you over the last six weeks, and we know how much you are suffering – mentally and financially – because of lost income, social disconnection and the closure of our beloved venues and creative spaces. With the free membership offer, we are opening our arms up to all of you, so we work through the crisis together and plan on how we can come out of it stronger and capitalise on opportunities in the new landscape.” – Patrick Donovan, CEO of Music Victoria

As a non-for-profit, Music Victoria relies on the financial support from its members to support and advocate on behalf of the sector, however it’s important at this crucial time that no one is left behind and everyone can access Music Victoria’s services. It is strongly encouraged that people donate what they can when signing up if they are in a financial position to do so.
We need a strong Music Victoria now more than ever.
