Bloom and Simmer A new compilation from Remote Control Records Featuring 21 unreleased tracks Listen to HANDSOME & Sunbeam Sound Machine now!

by the partae June 11, 2020
written by the partae

Remote Control Records is excited to announce our first-ever compilation – Bloom and Simmer. Digitally released on Friday 26th June, the compilation is a celebration of community, connexion and creativity featuring 21 tracks you’ve never heard before from the Remote Control Records family of artists.

This is the music they make when they’re not making music; a dive beneath the waves, a journey off the beaten path, a glimpse behind the curtain.

Bloom and Simmer brings together artists from Dot Dash Recordings, Barely Dressed Records, Pool House Records, Part Time Records and Interstate 40.

To celebrate the announcement two tracks are available to stream now – ‘Worry Wart’ from Sunbeam Sound Machine and HANDSOME’S cover of Christine and the Queen’s ‘The Walker’ featuring Essie Holt.

Speaking about ‘The Walker ft. Essie Holt’ HANDSOME shared – “When you love a song so dearly, and you have the opportunity to make it your own it is such a privilege. There are so many elements that excite me about releasing this song. Its political sentiment is both educational and powerful. Making this song with Essie Holt was truly wonderful. It just felt so right – to release a cover of a song by a queer woman, with two queer women about the power of our community, in pride month. Hopefully, it is a reminder to some that we are here for each other.”

Speaking about ‘Worry Wart’ Sunbeam Sound Machine shared – “This song has been kicking around in my head for years. I’ve tried to record versions of it for previous albums but it just didn’t quite work so it never made the cut. I started recording it again this year and although it finally came together, I still didn’t feel like it would fit onto the next album. That’s when Dot Dash rang asking if I had anything I’d want to put onto a compilation. The song is about a frequent daydream I had when I was very little about my family having secretly been aliens the whole time, and the day when they all revealed their secret and flew away. I think it’s about wanting to hold onto your loved ones.”

DRO CAREY SHARES NEW DOUBLE-A SIDE 'ANOTHER KNOT' FEATURING UK ARTIST RUE + SECOND TRACK 'PREDICTIONS'
Music News

Dro Carey Shares New Double-A Side ‘Another Knot’ Featuring UK Artist RUE + Second Track ‘Predictions’

by the partae June 11, 2020
written by the partae

Soothsayer are elated to share a new release from beloved Sydney-based producer Dro Carey, the hypnotic double A-side ‘Another Knot / Predictions’ which premiered overnight via triple j Good Nights.

First track, ‘Another Knot’ is a hip-hop, acid house and UK garage hybrid that features the silky vocals of London poet and singer RUE, who was the featured artist on BBC Music Introducing in London this past February and whose music has been featured on Reprezent Radio, Complex and TRENCH. After stumbling across RUE’s music on SoundCloud, Dro was instantly blown away and reached out to propose a collaboration, resulting in the delectable club track, with a poetic spoken word overtone that makes it instantly Dro Carey.

Acting as a Yin to the Yang on the two-track offering is ‘Predictions’, a track that was originally a short demo production for an R&B artist. Originally much faster and brighter, the final product is a more subdued journey that still retains a R&B heartstring at its core, while reminiscing on a Burial-esque type beat making it the perfect companion to ‘Another Knot’.

This double release follows in the footsteps of 2019’s ‘Act Like You’re Home (feat. Beni Moun & Julietta)’ / ‘Hemisphere’ which premiered via CLASH, and saw global streaming support from Spotify (including claiming the coveted cover of Top Shelf Electronic), Apple Music, Soundcloud and a glowing online review from Resident Advisor, and March’s follow up ‘Clear To You (feat. Francesca Gonzales)’ / ‘Healer’, the former of which was swiftly added to rotation at Double J and FBi radio after debuting on Dummy Mag.

Last month, Dro released three new albums under his various aliases (TUFF SHERM, PMM and his real name, Eugene Ward), with all proceeds going to the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre, a move he says was his attempt to do his part to provide material support during a time of acute need for the organisation. The charity releases saw pickup from Resident Advisor and Purple Sneakers, with the TUFF SHERM record making FBi’s album packet and seeing considerable support on its release week.

With ‘Another Knot (feat. RUE) / Predictions’, Dro Carey pushes the boundaries of his sonic identity, proving once again to be a master of his craft.

EPIZODE OFFICIAL STATEMENT

by the partae June 11, 2020
written by the partae

It is with regret that we inform you about the frauds aimed to “Epizode” festival. The “Epizode: Epilogue (Epizode 5)” announced on social networks yesterday and the advertising campaign launched that day (which was additionally supported by industrial media) were not officially confirmed by us, there were no press-releases regarding these matters.

We were shocked to hear this news, because the decision to hold the next “Epizode” festival has not been taken yet due to the worldwide coronavirus pandemic. We closely monitor the course of events and the festival dates will be announced as soon as we can be confident of safety of our guests, which has always been a top priority for the festival organizers.

Hence, please do not associate the “Epizode” festival with the announced event and keep clear of fraudsters.

Michael Franti & Spearhead – Work Hard & Be Nice ALBUM

by the partae June 11, 2020
written by the partae

MICHAEL FRANTI & SPEARHEAD
release 17-track album ‘Work Hard & Be Nice’
out June 19 2020

**featuring new radio single ‘Walking Into The Sun’**

“Walking Into The Sun” is the song I’ve listened to the most on the new album, probably because it’s the most autobiographical track on the record and it captures a lot of the contradictory emotions I’ve felt in my life.

When I was a kid I used to dream about traveling to places that I never imagined I’d ever get to see and as an adult I actually ended up getting to see many of them in person.  What I didn’t realize growing up was that just seeing something didn’t have nearly as much value as being there with someone you could share it with and experiencing the journey through the joy reflected in their eyes.  It’s a song that’s both about sharing those magic moments with the love of my life and at the same time feeling the melancholy of longing when we are apart – dreaming of drifting off into the colors of the sun together.  One thing that quarantining has done is bring a deeper appreciation of these shared experiences and I hope people can feel it glowing in the song.” – Michael Franti

Just when we thought the world couldn’t get any more challenging with political division, environmental crisis, gun violence and everyone with a keyboard dissing each other all the time, COVID-19 comes along and puts us all on a worldwide time out. And with everyone locked indoors wondering what the heck is gonna come next, there is no better time for music that helps us laugh, cry, rage, soothe, dance and sing through the sea of emotions boiling inside each of us. Music is simultaneously the greatest self-isolating experience (headphones) and the greatest group coalescing experience (live shows) that humankind has invented. I look forward to the days when we can have mass celebrations of gratitude to all those who held optimism in their hearts and got us through the jaws of this virus and songs of love for those family and neighbors who did not. But for now, I’m going to keep putting music into the world that hopefully helps someone find ease of heart, while the planet is on pause.

Physical distancing is currently the only known tactic we have to fight this disease, but that doesn’t mean that we have to be socially distant. In fact, quite the opposite. Now is a time when all of us are being called to find new ways to hear others, be heard and hold space for the emotions that need breath. While all of us long for life to go back to normal, the coronavirus has also shown us that “normal” wasn’t always working, and we are all being called to create great change.

I wrote “I’m On Your Side” to share the message that despite the labels we put on each other to divide us into different groups and force us to choose sides, like political ideologies, gender, race, religion, sexuality and economic standing, we have a lot more in common than we do in difference. We all “stay awake at night wondering if will be all right,” or sit “…at the kitchen table counting up the bills to pay.” And in each of those situations where we start to feel hopelessness creeping in, when we feel most alone in the battle, I want the listener to know, I feel it too. I’m there with you in spirit, without judgment, in solidarity and “I’m On Your Side.”

“This Is How We Living” is about taking the time to celebrate the fun side of life. The break that all of us need and deserve from the chaos of our daily grind, and in gratitude for all the joy that life brings us despite all the hurt in the world. It’s also a gentle reminder that “If you’re looking for the problems in this world, you’re gonna find ‘em, all you’ve gotta do is look out the door. But if you’re looking for that good stuff, it’s already up inside you, all you’ve gotta do is just let it show.”

This record started off as an idea: That it’s important in this time of division in the world to Work Hard And Be Nice To People. Before there was a song and an album by the title, I made a t-shirt for my band and crew that had the saying on it, because I wanted it to be our mantra on tour. When fans saw the shirt, they wanted it and it became our top-seller; it was so popular that I decided to write a song about the concept. Every song on the album is about the power of optimism to get us through our darkest moments and find the light in our loves, lives and for the planet. I collaborated with many different incredible songwriters and it was amazing to hear how all of them understood completely the idea of how important it is for people to have ease of heart in these troubled times. The need for emotions to be able to pass effortlessly as they arise. Music helps with that, and sometimes it brings out feelings we never even knew existed. As I set out making the record, I hoped that it would move people’s hearts and bodies and inspire people to take on the great challenges the world faces today, with courage, love and bold optimism!

Never in a million years would I have imagined we are where we are today with the entire world in self-quarantine, but as I listen to the songs on this record they are all about how we get through the greatest ups and downs of our lives with our body, mind and soul still in one piece.

Today, we are being called to connect with the hearts of others to literally bring about the healing of the planet. There is no higher calling, and I hope this music helps people know that they are not alone in the effort. Each person’s role makes a difference, and we will create billions of small victories that all add up…together!

AUTOSUGGEST RELEASE BROODING NEW SINGLE ‘MY SIGNAL’

by the partae June 11, 2020
written by the partae

“..effortlessly move between post-punk experimentalism and electronic synth-wave…”
– Purple Sneakers

“Autosuggest draws parallels to another Australian electro-rock muso, Samsaruh. The pair are a testament of the genre’s prospering presence within the Australian music community.”
– Futuremag Music

“Autosuggest – it’ll win you over, I reckon.”
– Dave Ruby Howe, triple j

Sydney electronic rock trio Autosuggest return today with provocative new single ‘My Signal.’ Recorded across two bedrooms and a kitchen, the band are experimenting with pop aesthetics, electronic soundscapes, and female backing vocals for the first time.

Biting guitar riffs, chunky basslines and vocals from new collaborator Carla Maar all shine in this new piece exploring lust, addiction and dependency. “For this ‘season’ of the band, lot of the work is based upon exiting a toxic relationship, finding all the wrong ways to cope with the mess and learning to deal with it.” explains frontman Alec Mallia.

Representing a new musical direction for the three-piece, the track sees Autosuggest incorporate nods to classic new-wave and post-punk bands INXS and The Strokes with their signature electronic rock sound. Finished separately due to the COVID-19 lockdown, ‘My Signal’ has become a point of pride for their second season as a band, Alec goes on to explain: “We’re moving towards that new-wave rhythm and feel. I don’t think there’s a lot of acts in this area at the moment that are leaning that hard into pop style choruses like we are; it’s a lot more playful than its contemporaries, but keeps the attitude.”

Autosuggest found its start as Alec’s solo project, yet, after the release of 2017’s Murmur EP and 2019’s Tame Harm album, it has now expanded to include the talents of bassist Jack McFarlane and guitarist Jordan Sexty. ‘My Signal’ is the latest we’ve heard from the band after February’s single ‘Straight to the Bottom.’ Prior to this, their single ‘Heron’ saw rotation on FBi Radio, airtime on triple j’s Something More with Tim Shiel, as well as plays across community radio stations including 4ZZZ and Radio Adelaide. The band have also received praise from tastemakers including Scenestr, Happy Mag, Pilerats, Purple Sneakers, Savage Thrills and more.

It’s the latest sneak peek we’ve been granted into their new season of music and shaping up to be an innovative and exciting development for the project, as they push genre boundaries and add to their musical palette.

OTIUH RELEASE NEW VIDEO FOR ‘POUR IT UP’ FOLLOWS THE RELEASE OF EP LA FESTA

by the partae June 11, 2020
written by the partae

“..steady accumulating looks across the Aus scene for a minute now..”
– AUD$

“You can’t be mad and listen to [Otiuh], you just can’t!”
– Nkechi Anele, triple j

“Otiuh have emerged as frontrunners of [Perth’s] next generation in rap music, with a stream of consistently top-tier singles.”
– Pilerats

Following the release of the high energy 7-track EP La Festa, released last month, hip hop duo Otiuh share their new video clip for ‘Pour It Up’ which premiered last night via 6KMC. Filmed, directed, produced and performed independently (with help from Perth videographer Dylan Guy), Otiuh are the makers of their own hip hop fantasy.

The lead single of their EP, ‘Pour It Up’ is inspired by the retrospect of a night out where you begin to question the world around you. In the verse: “Bunch of white dudes in the Ralph polo, did you even go out if you ain’t in the photo?”, solely highlights the sometimes superficial moments of partying. It’s a collective moment that’s been experienced by many; looking around on a night out and thinking “what the hell am I doing here?”. The overall aesthetic of the video is perfectly set to track’s satirical and bouncy mood. The track is also driven by a Mediterranean style guitar riff, showcasing the duo’s widespread influences and distinct sound that separates them from other hip hop acts in Australia, of which is further explored in their EP.

Due to COVID restrictions, the pair had to work within their limitations to produce a video clip that aided the track’s narrative and vibe – and they have done just that. Filmed over the course of one weekend in Cesare Papa‘s backyard, the video itself acts much like an introduction to the EP as a whole. As Cesare says: “These restrictions made us do what we do best; make familiar, ordinary locations look quirky & psychedelic. It felt like the pressure was off on this one. We were the crew as well as the performers operating strobe lights and smoke machines, so we planned it to be as easy as possible for ourselves. We let our crazy ideas run wild, kept concept loose.”

The video also acts as an interlude between the two tracks ‘Pour It Up’ and ‘Smoke Break’ (feat. MALi JO$E); the clip features a performance-focused segment, tied in with a psychedelic mechanic scene where the specific transition takes place.

“We wanted the music video to look how the music sounds; colourful, energetic, and not taking itself too seriously. Mali & Dylan’s approach to videos are super natural; working with them on this one was a breeze. Things really did just fall into place on this one,” continues Cesare.

Following the release of their EP La Festa, the duo’s track ‘Pour It Up’ was added to the new Spotify editorial playlist ‘The Hybrid’. Their previous EP in 2019 Cold Recreation and their 2020 releases ‘One For Me’ and ’21’ saw the pair receive national recognition from tastemakers such as AUD$, NME Australia, Purple Sneakers, Pilerats, as well as being added to Apple’s Music’s The New Australia, MTV and rage and high reviews across triple j unearthed. The duo have also received airplay across triple’s Home & Hosed, triple j Unearthed and support from a range of community radio stations including, FBi, RTRFM, Radio Adelaide and 4ZZZ.

Berlin is well known around the world not only as one of its party capitals, but also as one of the greatest artistic hubs for musicians and artists globally. Tiahi represents this community perfectly, bringing together influences of different cultures and uniting them into something new and shiny, into music full of positivity. His new single “Free” is an anthem for freedom, capturing the essence of Tiahi’s musical vision of “reinforcing positivity and helping others to cut through negativity in times of darkness”. Behind the catchy lyrics and the energetic yet laid-back sound of the song lies a deeper thought nonetheless: “Freedom begins in our heads, it’s an elusive concept. ID&T organizes ultimate chill out vacation at campsite ‘Tijdloos’

by the partae June 10, 2020
written by the partae

Tijdloos (transl.: timeless) is an intimate camping experience for all ages, with a wide range of activities for the body & mind and soul with compliance to the 1,5-meter distance that is required by the Dutch government.

As this year’s festival summer and foreign summer holidays grinds to a halt and ID&T’s numerous decor pieces are left unused, ID&T steps in with a brand-new and surprising concept. From July 10th to August 17th, Tijdloos invites its guests to enjoy their summer vacation on the vast expanse of acres of the beautiful Ermerstrand in the province of Drenthe, the Netherlands. For almost 5 weeks, the campsite will be transformed into a magical summer destination where busy agendas, appointments – and even time – are left behind.

Creativity, innovation and passion to bring people together is deeply rooted in the DNA of the founders of events like Mysteryland, Defqon.1 Weekend Festival and Welcome to the Future. After receiving the news that no festivals will be taking place this season, the Tijdloos seed was planted and has carefully been cultivated since this day; and all the love and craftsmanship which has been built for decades is now intimately reinvented at Tijdloos.

Tijdloos Creative Director Carina Kornfeind: “In times of crisis, you get inspired to think ‘out of the box’ and that’s how Tijdloos was born: the most extraordinary summer destination of 2020. Tijdloos is something completely different than the festivals we usually organise. It is an intimate and free-spirited playground for all ages to enjoy life unconditionally together with their loved ones. Since there is a limited capacity, we expect that the demand will exceed the supply.”

Between spacious lawns, forests, islands and a lake the campsite guests are given the opportunity to fully live in the present moment. Various activities are spread upon 50 acres of natural surroundings such as a broad spiritual and mindfulness program, water sports and outdoor activities, interactive art installations, world music and lectures for adults as well as the younger guests. The entire landscape is colourfully decorated with the most beautiful decor pieces and light installations, following the ID&T philosophy.

Guests can choose between different glamping accommodations that are fully equipped, but also have the opportunity to bring their own tent. During the intimate gathering, the organization conforms to all guidelines of the Dutch Institute of Health and Environment (RIVM) and the regulations of the security regions will apply. Social distancing will be in place, at both the campsite and during the activities.

Overnight stays for camping ‘Tijdloos’ can be booked via www.wij-zijn-tijdloos.nl. During the week, you already have a spot for €29 per night per person and in the weekend for €39 per night per person (children join at a reduced rate).

Please follow the advice of your local government on traveling abroad before booking a spot at Camping Tijdloos.

Asia’s supreme Music & Art Festival returns to the paradise beach of Phú Quốc

The pioneering EPIZODE festival is coming back to bring its first-rate music selection, along with the breathtaking artistic setting and the electric atmosphere in Vietnam’s paradise Phú Quốc island. This fifth edition of the festival combines Music & Art into one unique concept entitled EPIZODE5: EPILOGUE. It will be held from December 29th 2020 to January 10th 2021, on the picturesque Sunset Sanato beach.

This edition will be extended in comparison to previous events, bringing 12 days and nights of non-stop music, magical sunsets, relaxing daytime activities and other unforgettable experiences. With the vision to unite people from around the globe, the festival will bring the best electronic music acts who will be performing at mind-blowing stages placed among the art installations on the beach.

Located in Vietnam’s paradise Phú Quốc island, famed for its mix of vibrancy and beauty, it is a truly memorable and unique place to be. From lush white beaches to the boutique accommodation and stunning sunsets, the natural charm of the region is matched only by the magical musical spirit that’s helped create such a distinctive festival offering.

Helping drive the Asian music scene forward, EPIZODE has, in only four years, made an impressive mark internationally, becoming an unmissable NYE getaway for music and art lovers, global adventurers and professionals from the music industry.  Previous EPIZODE editions set the standard by curating some of the most respected artists on the global dance scene, including [A:RPIA:R], FERRY CORSTEN, GOLDIE, LOCO DICE, NINA KRAVIZ, MOODYMANN, PEGGY GOU, RICARDO VILLALOBOS, SETH TROXLER, SONJA MOONEAR and ZIP. Along with the international talent, there is also a focus on the prolific local talents, including DISKONNECTED, HIBIYA LINE, KERRY WALLACE, MARCUS L, OUISSAM, SUNJU HARGUN, ZIG ZACH and many others. Global and internationally recognized club brands like ANTS, Arma, Half Baked and Mdrnty have also made their way onto the festival’s programme.

The first tier of 12 day Early Bird Multi-Passes will be available from June 11th at €158. Tickets can be purchased online via Epizode website: www.epizode.asia

Where are you currently based and what is the music scene like?
I’m based in Echuca/Moama on the border of NSW and Victoria. There’s not much of a scene at the moment! Normally we have two great, yet very different festivals in our towns. In July we normally have the Echuca Winter Blues Festival and in February we have Riverboats Music Festival. I’ve been fortunate enough to perform at both several times.

How did you first start playing music?
Both of my grandfathers played as well as my Dad, my siblings, cousins and other family members. Music has just always been there. I took my first formal lessons (piano) at the age of 8 and then started playing guitar at 10. I didn’t start singing until late high school.

What’s been happening recently?
I’ve done a few live stream shows which has been fun. The new album is out now, so I was just doing a few things in preparation for that. Like a lot of people at the moment, I’m pretty restricted as to what I can do.
Your new album ‘Chosen Line’ is out now, what influenced the sound and songwriting?
I always write from a lot of different places when it comes to inspiration. I guess that’s why my albums never really settle on a genre. I take inspiration out of everyday life and don’t usually write about something until I’m reflecting on it or have had an opportunity to digest that experience and get some perspective on it.

How did you go about writing the music?
Generally speaking, I write at home in my “music room”. All of my instruments are there and it has a nice feel. I can knock out demos really quickly too if I get the urge. There are a few co-writes on the album as well that were worked up in a studio. I also wrote “Break Me Into Pieces” in the studio during the recording of the album.

Where and when did you record and who with?
I recorded “Chosen Line” with Jan Skubiszewski at his “Red Moon Studios” about an hour outside of Melbourne.

How did you approach the recording process?
I’d sent Jan and the band most of the demos in advance and we pretty much knew what songs would make the album. We set aside the whole month of June 2019 to record. Danny McKenna (Drums) and Anthony Liddell (Bass) would come in on each monday and lay down 4 songs with me live. After that Jan and I would spend the rest of the week adding any overdubs or additional parts to the songs. Late in the process we had Xani Kolac come in and play some beautiful violin on a few songs and add some backing vocals.

Please tell us about the amazing cover art for the album:
Yorta Yorta visual artist, John Patten, created the album artwork taking into account my songline and the Yorta Yorta totem the long-neck turtle as well as the river that also represents the fretboard of a guitar. I come from a long line of storytellers and musicians, and they’ve all had a significant impact on the person I’ve become and the musician that I am. I’m a Yorta Yorta man and in our culture, we would call that my Songline.

Who are you listening to at the moment?
We have Double J on in the house most of the day. If I’m driving somewhere, I’ve been listening to Jason Isbell’s latest album. He is a phenomenal songwriter.

What do you like to do away from music?
Be outdoors! I spent a lot of my childhood playing outside and exploring the bush. I love the feeling of being amongst the big gumtrees and near the Murray River. I really love doing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as well. It’s really technical and takes a lot of discipline, so I get to exercise my brain and my body.

What’s planned for the remainder of 2020?
Hopefully I can get out and play some live shows sooner rather than later! I think I’ll start with some really intimate solo shows until restrictions ease and then work my way up to bigger venues with the full band.
Favourite food and place to hangout?
I’m torn between Thai and Mexican food! I’m happy to hang out wherever the good company is.

GLEN HANSARD SHARES VIDEO FOR “COLD COMFORT” A SONG WRITTEN FOR AND ABOUT LIFE IN LOCKDOWN WATCH NEW VIDEO FOR “GOOD LIFE OF SONG” FEAT. FOOTAGE FROM ‘THE CAMINO VOYAGE’ + DEDICATED TO DANNY SHEEHY “All a song wants is to be heard. I hope something in this music can be of use to you. I know it has been of great use to me to make it. Beauty is in the ear of the behearer.” – Glen Hansard https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lAZAcyPxbUc Glen Hansard, along with most of the world, has been in quarantine and attempting to make sense of everything. Hansard’s creation of art thru the act of storytelling has been growing in these moments and he recently recorded the new song “Cold Comfort”. He also created a video for the song at home and has shared it with the hope it would bring exactly what its title implies. Watch it HERE. "(it’s) a handmade video for a homemade song written for the time that's in it," Hansard said. In 2016, Hansard embarked on a life-changing journey as he stepped in to join a team and be the 4th oarsman in a small hand-built wooden boat called a curragh. The experience, as they rowed their way across the north coast of Spain following the Camino trail, was chronicled in the documentary film The Camino Voyage - released in 2018. One of the men on the boat, Irish writer and poet Danny Sheehy, tragically passed away three years ago today after the curragh capsized off the Iberian coast. In Danny’s honor, Hansard has released a new video for “Good Life of Song”, a track from his latest release This Wild Willing, with footage from The Camino Voyage, dedicated to Sheehy and his memory. “I wrote this song in Paris while in residence at the Irish Cultural Centre,” Hansard explained. “It’s a tribute to the life of bards and troubadours on their lifelong march through the towns and villages of the world, singing and drinking, expressing the sorrows and the joys of the age as they court darkness and light with equal knowing. A song of gratitude for the gift of singing. I raise it here to the memory of our boat captain Danny Sheehy.” While currently isolating at home, Glen has also been engaging directly with his fans via a series of conversations on Instagram. He has hosted discussions on songwriting, shared stories and songs on his birthday and led fireside-like chats with painter Colin Davidson, environmentalist and founder of We Are the Ark movement Mary Reynolds, and Irish Woodland Trust conservationist Andrew St. Ledger. The hope is these discussions help break up the news of the day, but also inspire and create awareness and action; all can be seen HERE. Hansard released his latest album This Wild Willing in April of 2019. The album garnered the best reviews of his 20+ year career with VICE calling it a “reinvention”, MOJO deeming it “an immersive, deeply satisfying work” and NPR Music saying, “These songs feel rawer, broader, more sweeping and emotional and expansive”. Hansard also recently sat down with the Broken Record Podcast, hosted by the producer Rick Rubin, the writer Malcolm Gladwell and the former New York Times editor Bruce Headlam to discuss This Wild Willing and its inspirations. You can listen to their conversation HERE.
