THE CHATS ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM ‘GET F*CKED’+ AUSTRALIAN TOUR

by the partae May 9, 2022
written by the partae
Sunny coast punks, The Chats unapologetically announce the release of their second album, GET F*CKED for release worldwide on August 19th via Bargain Bin Records. The band have also let a new single and video rip PLUS revealed an Australian headlining tour for September 2022.

LISTEN: THE CHATS – ‘6L GTR’

‘6L GTR’ is the new album’s opener; a swinging takedown of a speed-crazed status-symbol driver – a critique piqued when Eamon spotted the titular licence plate in an airport carpark. After the immortal chorus of “don’t need a big flash fancy car, just need a six-litre GTR”, Sandwith instinctively broke into a quote from David Lee Roth’s purring dropdown rap from Van Halen’s ‘Panama’ – most apposite! – but unfortunately Roth didn’t approve of this so they had to axe it.

“Our manager got an email from David Lee Roth’s people that said “NO!” we can’t use it.” Sandwith explains, “What a dog c*nt.”

New album GET F*CKED is fully loaded with 13 new, high-velocity punk tracks that rip from start to finish, and lyrically cover panic attacks, junkies, prison breaks, the price of smokes, surf mafia, being drunk in every pub in Brisbane and many more based on personal experiences.

Once they’d worked up a rollicking batch of new tunes, they had actually planned to record again in Geelong, near Melbourne, with Billy Gardner, who produced ‘High Risk Behaviour’, but due to pandemic border closures, they nailed it instead in six days at Brisbane’s Hunting Ground facility with Cody McWaters, who’d worked on a single for Eamon’s other band, Headlice.

The more you listen to it, the more you realise that there was only one plausible title for this second Chats album. “We just thought how funny would it be, if you were a kid seeing it on the album cover. I remember going to K-Mart and seeing the Green Day ‘Dookie’ CD, and being like, ‘Aw man, this is the craziest album cover I’ve ever seen!’ Imagine being a kid and just seeing a CD that says, ‘Get F*cked’!”

Jacket Weather Seduce Us for The First of Many Times

by the partae May 9, 2022
written by the partae
From the opening riff of The Girl Next Door, you know that Jacket Weather are something different.  The members of Groove City have managed to maintain all the slickness we’ve love from them but with a classic rock edge. Still with heaps of 70s flavour, this time the platform disco boots have been shelved for some tan leather deck shoes. Apparently the first of four 3 track EPs; ‘Memories’ is a tight little collection of punchy yacht rock with immaculate production and superb songwriting.
The second track Fall For You, lands hard again with the guitar before smoothing out into a thumping dancefloor cruiser that would be as at home in a club as it is on a coastal highway. By the time the title track arrives, the various colours of Jacket Weather have been revealed. There’s a loungy element to this one that makes you want to recline on a chesterfield with a double scotch on a single ice cube.
According to the band, the Memories EP “…is an ode to the beginning of any sparkling new relationship. From the excitement of the first time you realise that you are into each other, and just how quickly it can all be over.” With the next 3 EPs due out before the end of the year we are over the moon that this particular love affair is just beginning.

Digital Farm Animals Brings Feel Good Tech-House/Disco Vibes with “Streets Of Gold,” Featuring Kelli-Leigh. The First Proper Club Release on Patrick Moxey’s Newly Launched Helix Records

by the partae May 9, 2022
written by the partae

Artists: Digital Farm Animals
Title: Streets Of Gold feat. Kelli-Leigh
Label: Helix Records

Download / Stream

British artist Digital Farm Animals makes his debut on Helix Records with disco-house single “Streets Of Gold,” featuring British singer/songwriter Kelli-Leigh. Piano chords and Kelli‘s soulful vocals open the track, while the “Pigman” seamlessly incorporates a groovy beat and upbeat melodies to make for a dance-worthy sonic gem that signifies Helix Records’ first proper club release. The label is Patrick Moxey‘s (formerly the CEO and main driving force behind Ultra Records) newest venture as part of a strategic partnership with Warner Recorded Music. With “Streets Of Gold” Digital Farm Animals is continuing his hot streak of releases, which began in 2021 with his single “Don’t Play” with KSI and Annie-Marie, which skyrocketed to #2 on the UK charts and was nominated for “Song of The Year” at the BRIT Awards 2022. Keep an eye out for more feel-good new music from Digital Farm Animals and Helix Records coming soon!

“I’m so excited for the release of my new single ‘Streets Of Gold.’ The one took a lot of influence from the sound of deep house that I grew up loving and makes me think of the Summer! I hope it brings you good vibes too” – Digital Farm Animals

With his trademark pig helmet and signature sound, the UK artist and producer Digital Farm Animals is out to take over the dance music scene. He already has high-profile collaborations with artists such as Dua Lipa, Bebe Rexha, Alan Walker, Craig David, Anne-Marie, and KSI. His recent and forthcoming material is explosive and highly energetic, and the focus is on creating massive, feel-good hits. Performing “Don’t Play” at sold-out venues and festivals such as Ministry Of Sound, Reading Festival, The Jingle Bell Ball, and Blackpool Tower last year was a highlight of 2021 for Digital Farm Animals. His upcoming collaborations include Marshmello, Khalid, Surfaces, Tiësto, Avril Lavigne, David Guetta, Ty Dolla Sign, and more. Digital Farm Animals‘ most streamed track to date is “All Falls Down” with Alan Walker, approaching half a billion streams on Spotify alone.

Kelli-Leigh is a South London singer/songwriter who has worked with the likes of Duke Dumont, Jax Jones, and Low Steppa, among others. Her inspirations stem from growing up with Whitney Houston and Prince, and after touring with Adele on her 21 album tour in 2011, she decided to step out on her own as a solo artist. During the early stages of her solo career, she was asked to vocal on tracks such as “I Got U” and “I Wanna Feel,” which went straight to #1 on the Official UK Charts. In 2017 Kelli-Leigh entered the Official UK Charts featuring on the top smash hit “More Than Friends” with James Hype. She released her debut single “Do You Wanna Be Loved Like This?” in February 2018 through her independent label Music Core, which ended up as one of Top 10 trending tracks on Shazam in the UAE and entered the Virgin Radio Dubai Hot 30 chart starting off a strong collection of releases and fan favorites. Kelli-Leigh‘s voice has been streamed over half a billion times and she has made several appearances on BBC Radio 1‘s Live Lounge.

NAZAAR Releases Hard-Hitting, Yet Emotive 6-Track “VISNS” EP, Featuring Previous Singles “WITH U” and “Shadows.” Out Now as Self-Release

by the partae May 9, 2022
written by the partae

Artists: NAZAAR
Title: VISNS EP
Label: Self-release

Download / Stream

Following his recent single release “WAR CRY” with Virus Syndicate, and earlier “Shadows” with Louiejayxx, the American-Pakistani artist NAZAAR releases his full EP “VISNS,” a 6-track package that is a true sonic journey through the realms of bass music. From the ominous and eerie “WITH U” to the vocal-forward, emotive “LIES” featuring Hera Lynn, “VISNS” is a representation of NAZAAR‘s creative genius as he produces music that appeals to the heart and on the dance floor. The EP‘s outro “LOVE BURNS” leaves the listener with a catharsis that’s especially rare for the type of heavy-hitting and yet cinematic music that NAZAAR has created. “VISNS” gives NAZAAR a strong start to the year, leaving us wondering what else he has in store for the rest of 2022.

“The ‘VISNS‘ EP is more than just another project; it stands for a cause that’s greater than me. VISNS is a body of work that’s supposed to help listeners dig deeper into their thoughts and make sense of the visions they have for themselves. In a dark time, I found my peace in writing music, stories with an audible addition to them. Each song on this EP is a story within itself, a story about the inner fight to find peace, the struggle with anger and fear, and the relief of finally letting go. VISNS is a story about me finally finding myself and having absolute clarity about my future. 6 songs, 6 stories, 6 different feelings; that is what VISNS is. I hope everyone who gives it a listen is able to feel what I felt when writing these songs and finds out just a little bit more about their own VISNS.” – NAZAAR

Raised between Pakistan and America, Farhan Zahir – better known as NAZAAR – has made his signature sound a combination of his roots and his western upbringing, the hidden riches of the Middle East, with the prominent sounds of electronic dance music. He has previously worked with Carnage on “Blitzkrieg” and had a stream of solo independent singles, such as “Jinn” or “Guru.” His past releases have found homes on Never Say Die, Space Yacht, Bassrush, and Columbia Records, where NAZAAR has put out his remix of The Chainsmokers‘ “Sick Boy.” In 2018, he released a single titled “A Dance With Death,” which enjoyed unprecedented DJ support from the likes of Excision, RL Grime, Zomboy, and many more. The success of this single forged the path to NAZAAR‘s debut 5-track EP titled “The Legacy” on Never Say Die in early 2019. Keep an eye out for more new music coming soon!

Smith’s Chips launches ‘crunchtacular’ track with Dune Rats and Double Crunch Chips

by the partae May 5, 2022
written by the partae

Smith’s Chips and leading Aussie rock artists, Dune Rats, have teamed up to launch a new track to help empower loud-crunchers which will be sold as the world’s first chip Non-Fungible-Token (NFT) for free.

The collaboration between Smith’s Chips, Dune Rats and Australia’s loudest crunchers saw the snack-favourite and Brisbane rock band creating the track with chip-fanatics who love to crunch loudly and proudly. Together, a unison of crisp-enthusiasts crunched to the lyrics, “Crunch, crunch, Double Crunch” on Smith’s Double Crunch chips, forming elements of the NFT crunch-hit.

Following the recording session, the track has been developed into a masterpiece and an audio NFT – a unique, one-of-a-kind digital piece of art featuring Aussie crunchers and orchestrated by Smith’s Chips and Dune Rats.

From Tuesday 3rd May, 500 copies of the ‘crunchtacular’ track will be minted and become available to obtain for free as a collective piece via Fanaply on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Dune Rats’ singer, Danny Beus said: “It was a hoot to get together with a bunch of legends to record this crunchy number about super catchy chips”.

Smith’s Senior Brand Manager, Sam O’Donnell said: “We are stoked to be creating a piece of history with the Smith’s chip NFT, a world first, in partnership with Dune Rats to celebrate the launch of our new Smith’s Double Crunch chips. This is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity that crunch cravers won’t want to miss!”

The Smith’s NFT has been designed to celebrate the Smith’s Double Crunch range that launched earlier this year in four fully loaded flavours: Ultimate BBQ Ribs, Hot & Spicy Chicken Wings, Cheesy Garlic Bread and Original. Built for maximum crunchability, Smith’s Double Crunch has full on flavours, deeper ridges and has two times the crunch of Smith’s iconic Crinkle chips.

To be one of the lucky 500 NTF owners of this crunchy track, head to https://fanaply.com/moment/crunchtacular

Noon Shift

by the partae May 5, 2022
written by the partae
Where are you currently based?

Since the day we started up we’ve always been a Western-Sydney based band.

How did you first start playing music?

We started playing music together after meeting in our high school’s guitar ensemble. I remember after meeting and starting up a band we’d pretty much go up to our school’s music rooms every single lunchtime and play together, occasionally staying a little too long after the lunch bell and getting in trouble for being late to class.

Please tell us about the Noon Shift journey so far:

I’d say since forming the first big step for us as a band was recording our first EP “Fuse” in 2018. Around the time it came out we were all becoming old enough to start playing at pubs, so I’d say that was the point where things really kicked off.
Since then we’ve mostly just focused on recording and releasing new tracks to play at our gigs and watching our audience steadily grow. We put out our second EP in early 2021 but knew it was time to up the ante a little and record a full length album. We’ve since come out the other end of that process with an album we’re all really proud of and can’t wait to share with the world!

What’s been happening recently?

Well last weekend saw the release of our debut album’s first single “Do It All Again”. We got some really kind words from a few fans which is always encouraging and appreciated. We then wrapped up the weekend with a charity gig at Petersham Bowling Club in Sydney raising funds for those affected by the floods. It was really great to see so many people show up for a good cause!

Your latest single ‘Do It Again’ is out now, what influenced the sound and songwriting?

Sure is! I was doing a lot of guitar teaching at the time and found the songs I was teaching my students began inspiring the ones I was writing. I actually came up with the bulk of the song during a 30 minute break between lessons. If you listen closely you can hear a bit of influence from tracks by Foo Fighters, Hockey Dad, Chuck Berry and even a bit of Metallica!

How did you go about writing the single?

Once I had what I’d call the ‘bones’ of the track written (usually the riff/chords and melody) I took it to the other guys in the band and fleshed it out. The track actually came together quite a bit easier than some others. It was just one of those songs that as soon as you write, you know what the drums and bass are supposed to play as well. The song has been an absolute blast to play through every single time from the get-go.

Where and when did you record/produce/master and who did you work with?

We recorded the album, including this track over the summer of 2021/2022. It all began with a visit to The Brain Studios in Sydney to record the drums. The guy who runs the place, Clayton, gets great drum sounds and knows how to pull a great performance so choosing to do the drums there was a real no-brainer!

We then finished all the tracks in my home studio. I once again found myself taking on the producer role, trying to get the best sounds and performances I could, which can be a little tricky when trying to be the judge of your own. I have a little spare bedroom in my house which we pretty much used as a control room, while my bedroom became the room where our amps would be set-up. We had to have the amp up pretty loud to get it sounding right If you walked in while someone was playing it’d blow your head off!

The songs ended up back at The Brain Studios once I’d done the mixes to be mastered.

What programs/instruments do you use?

When recording drums we used a whole mix of pieces from different kits that Clayton thought would sound best. I do remember actually using a ride cymbal in the place of a crash for a bit of a heavier sound for the cymbals.

Our bass player Michael recorded the full album with his Ibanez SR series 5 string. We recorded the bass direct, without an amp but blended his clean tone with a dirty tone from a free Sansamp clone plugin.

As for guitar, everything was recorded through my trusty Tokai ES335 style guitar. As a huge Dave Grohl fan I’d wanted an ES style guitar since I was about 13. The real ones are quite expensive but I’m really happy with my one and use it for pretty much everything. The fact that they’re semi-hollow makes it decently loud unplugged, which is great for when I’m writing and something you typically don’t get from a solid-body.

How did you approach the recording process?

Even though we recorded the entire album on computers I still wanted to keep in mind a few of the limitations of analogue tape. On tape you can’t really edit a performance in the same way as a computer so what’s played is what you get, imperfections and all.

To me that’s what makes a lot of recorded music personal and memorable so we chose at the start of the recording process that we would use minimal editing on our performances and just learn to be okay with the little imperfections that (hopefully) make the music better.

Please tell us about your upcoming album:

I started writing our upcoming album, “Steering Wheels on Summer’s Days” after the end of my first relationship. The album is about the experience of a relationship’s final stage and end, the phase of grieving after and then finally learning to be okay with it and opening oneself up once again. It was our first time taking on a project of this size and we’re glad to have come out the other end of it with something we’re really proud of!

What’s planned for the remainder of 2022 and beyond?

Well 2022’s gonna see a few more singles in the lead up to the album’s release on October 14th 2022. The space between is gonna be filled with a bunch of shows. We’d love to hit the road and play all around Australia but we’re happy to wait until the right time comes!

We’re also just beginning to demo a few songs for what we’re expecting will be our next album so we’re really excited for what the rest of this year and beyond holds!

Who are you listening to at the moment?

I’ve personally been listening to a lot of Press Club lately. I’m seeing them play in Sydney in a few weeks and I’m the kind of person that wants to know all the songs when I go to see a band play live. Other than that, our bass player Tchai and I were listening to an American band called Sungazer on the drive home the other day. They’re pretty different from what we do so it’s actually quite refreshing to hear!

What do you like to do away from music?

When we’re not playing music we usually just like to sit around drinking beer and enjoying each other’s company. Perhaps the occasional fishing-trip or ill-fated longboarding sesh.

Favourite food and place to hangout?

Let’s tie the two together and say that we love to get a kebab from our local shop Fully Tabooly in Pemulwuy. It’s a great place to sit down, have a yarn and hoover up a bab. Would highly recommend, just don’t forget to grab a loyalty card!

SHADY NASTY RETURN WITH NEW SINGLE ‘CHEST HEIGHT’ DEBUT UK + EUROPEAN TOUR KICKS OFF THIS MONTH

PRAISE FOR SHADY NASTY

“The trio’s sound is as inscrutable as ever: lyrics are written like text exchanges between
gym junkies while the instrumentals are jenga towers of hip-hop beats,
slowcore guitars and punk vocals
“
NME

“Jittery and tense blasts of sketchy rock that sounds like kids born in the late 90s have
discovered some early Helmet or Mark of Cain records. This is good rowdy stuff”

VICE

“The Australian trio’s sound can turn on a dime between ethereally pretty and menacingly dark”
Kerrang!

“The atmosphere is unsettling in a similar way to Show Me The Body’s songs”
Stereogum

“Rare units and they’re not afraid to mess with your ears“
Dave Ruby Howe (triple j Unearthed)

“When people say there’s no band quite like Shady Nasty in Australia,
it’s not some hyperbole or over-exaggeration”

Pilerats

Eora / Sydney based alt-punk trio, Shady Nasty, today unleash their latest release, ‘CHEST HEIGHT‘, ahead of their debut international tour in the UK and Europe this month. LISTEN HERE.

Produced by The Presets‘ Kim Moyes, ‘CHEST HEIGHT‘ sees Shady Nasty flirt with augmented vocals to share their experience of a digitally enhanced dating scene in their harbour city home. One in which the abrupt metrics of looks, ‘chat game’ and vibe run algorithmically rampant.

Much like the compressed nature of this data, the song’s protagonist too avoids meaningful reflection in the wake of an unsuccessful score. Heavy with defeat, the single ruminates on an inability to “do anything right”, offering an equally self-critical and self-pitying resolution of “if you were two inches taller maybe you’d do better at the club.”

‘CHEST HEIGHT‘, helmed by downtrodden vocals in the vein of Nilüfer Yanya and King Krule, is another example of Shady Nasty‘s abilities to refract growing pains into social commentary in which the trio continue to look beneath the surface of their subjects alongside an enduring motif – a serious, long-term relationship with cars.

In their words, Shady Nasty share “CHEST HEIGHT is about our collective experiences of dating app logic. It explores the temptation to see dating as a game with fixed rules, one which can ultimately lock you and your perception of others into cheap and isolating yet extremely powerful categories.”

Shady Nasty is a band that operates on an oxymoron – a post-punk outfit whose most popular songs (‘Get Buff‘, ‘R0LL1N’ H1LLZ‘, ‘PRETTYB0YZ‘) circulate on calm, sombre melodies that straddle both electronic and hip hop driven impulses. Anthropologists of their own world, their music is rife with intelligent observations about the burgeoning algorithm of life.

With their recent EP CLUBSMOKE, a blurry-eyed meditation on vlogging, gymming, clubbing and clout, the group saw international acclaim from NME, Stereogum, Kerrang, DIY, New Noise, BPM, and locally from triple j‘s Home and Hosed, Something More and Unearthed, FBi Radio, 2SER, RAGE, Pilerats and Purple Sneakers. Its success recently took Shady Nasty to the coveted Oxford Art Factory stage where devout adherents propelled a heaving mosh.

Now the group stand ready for the globe, on the heels of their debut UK and European tour across May – see all tour routing details below.

“A sweet, seductive love song for all.”
Atwood Magazine (USA)

“Cut from an authentic paisley-print cloth, The Good Love dish out this ’60s psych-pop track with harmonies and starry-eyed vibes for days.” – ★★★★
Dave Ruby Howe – triple j Unearthed (AUS)

“Oh yes I very much want to pick daisies and lay lazy in the sunshine to this.” – ★★★★
Imogen Hanrahan – triple j Unearthed (AUS)

NSW-based rock quintet The Good Love have just revealed their dreamy new single ‘Sunshine Sometime’ – produced by Jack Nigro (Pacific Avenue, The Terrys, TOTTY).

‘Sunshine Sometime’ is a moseying, ‘60’s inspired gem filled with bright tremolo guitars, groove-laden bass and playful piano that set a beguiling bedrock for enchanting vocal harmonies to soar. The track builds elegantly with deft dynamics, led by lead singer Leroy Ashford-Meehan and his earnest delivery, capping off a delightful ride through dreamlike steez.

The band talks about the inspiration behind ‘Sunshine Sometime’:

“’Sunshine Sometime’ is about the longing for someone who cannot be described more than a beam of sunshine. It was inspired by a visit to Manning’s Great Aunt Margaret in Melbourne. The song reflects on a wholesome morning with a lovely individual, telling jokes and stories and sipping tea. In this respect, we all wish to have someone like Margaret, who can shine sunshine onto others. So raise your teacup/glass/whatever and tell someone you love them.”

The band will embark on a tour across New South Wales, including stops at Sydney, Milton, Thirroul, Wamberal and Kiama, to coincide with the release. This continues on from multiple sold-out headline shows and a national tour with Pacific Avenue.

Taking cues from luminaries The Beach Boys, The Rolling Stones and The Beatles, The Good Love effortlessly brings the nostalgic sounds of 60s pop-rock into a contemporary setting. While the members are spread across New South Wales locations Byron Bay, Yamba and the Central Coast, they come together to create an infectious sonic footprint of effervescent tunes full of dancing and singalongs. The band mentions, “just the fact that we all live so far away from each other but come together for shows recording and practice is pretty unique, I think.”

MARCUS WYNWOOD, unleashes scorching sophomore single ‘LITTLE SPACE’ The solo project from Captives founder

by the partae May 4, 2022
written by the partae

Photo by: Tim Upton (Moon Cheese)

Marcus Wynwood’s resume is as extensive as it is impressive. Not only a founding member of punk-rock band Captives, but he’s also riffed to crowds from the Falls Festival main stage, Envol et Macadam Festival (Quebec), Festivals at the Espy as well as support slots for COG, Shihad, Tumbleweed, The Damned and Gay Paris to name a few.

The ARIA Performing Artist and D’Addario Endorsed artist focused his attention in late 2020 on his solo work. Featured in Australian Guitar Magazine as a “Guitarist to Watch”, Marcus has well and truly earned the title with latest single ‘Little Space’

Featuring poignant and reflective lyrics, distorted and expertly layered vocals with unforgettable and hard-hitting guitar riffs, ‘Little Space’ proves Marcus’ talent. Sonically Marcus has crafted the sound to surround the listener – adding to the comforting message behind the song.

Speaking of the tender meaning behind the tune, he says “The message I wanted to get across with this song is that no matter what’s going on in your life or how dark it gets, there is always a place for you. There’s a little space where you belong.” Marcus Wynwood

After an extensive career including touring both domestically and internationally, Marcus Wynwood well and truly understands the artistry in crafting a song. Undulating between tender and passionate, ‘Little Space’ is a song that feels simultaneously both energising and comforting, not an easy feat to achieve.

This new single was written, performed, and recorded by Marcus Wynwood in Penguin, lutruwita (Tasmania). It was mixed by Jon Grace (Bakers Eddy, Dear Seattle) and mastered by Samuel K Sproull (The Getaway Plan, Bodyjar). These creative influences have come together in a sonic union of talent, combining the masterful touch of three different musicians.

The accompanying music video, created by Moon Cheese Studio in Devonport, lutruwita (Tasmania),  follows the journey of mini-Marcus as he battles with the trials and tribulations of everyday life within the confines of his own head. “I’ve always wanted to have an animated clip, and the message of belonging in this song suited it perfectly. Yep, Falls is ready to elevate your New Year with exciting new venues in VIC and WA and a fresher, deeper lineup and electronic experience than ever before!

Message your best festival mates and prepare to party your way into 2023, camping at Pennyroyal Plains VIC or North Byron Parklands NSW, or cityside at Fremantle Park WA when Falls returns with a lineup that includes some of the biggest acts on the planet right now alongside a host of festival favourites and exciting stars of the future across three main stages.

Falls’ El Capitan Stage, showcasing global headline artists across hip hop, indie, rock and pop, is where this Summer’s major music moments are set to play out! Sugarloaf Resort, with high end production and custom structures, is Australia’s new home for the very best in global electronic artists. And the Futures Stage is where you’ll find cutting edge acts, showcasing the future of music.

Arctic Monkeys 2006 album Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not became the fastest selling debut in UK history. They are the only band to have won both Best British Group and British Album of The Year at The Brits three times. They’ve won 7 Brit awards in total alongside an Ivor Novello award, a Mercury Music Prize, 20 NME awards, 5 Q awards and 3 Grammy nominations. With over 30 million followers, the band’s music has been streamed more than 9 billion times to date. They’ll headline Reading & Leeds and festivals across Europe before heading to Falls!

Lil Nas X released the culture-shifting 4x Platinum hit ‘MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)’ in March 2021, the queer anthem debuting at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The single features on his GRAMMY-nominated, certified Platinum debut album Montero which was released last September and landed spots on “Best Of 2021” lists across the globe. The album also boasts back-to-back Top 40 #1s with ‘Industry Baby’ featuring Jack Harlow and ‘That’s What I Want’. The 23-year-old rapper, singer and songwriter rose to fame with his 2019 mega hit ‘Old Town Road’, which simultaneously upended the music industry and shattered genre norms. The 16 x Platinum remix with Billy Ray Cyrus became the longest running #1 single in Billboard Hot 100 history, earning Lil Nas X 2 Grammys. Multiplatinum hits ‘Panini’, ‘Rodeo’ and ‘HOLIDAY’ followed. Don’t miss the incredible Lil Nas X’s first live shows in Australia at Falls!

Forward-thinking beatmaker and producer, Jamie xx helped shape the sound of the late 2000s and beyond with his Mercury Music Prize-winning group the xx and solo work. He released debut single ‘Far Nearer/Beat For’ in 2011. Further singles ‘Girl/Sleep Sound’, ‘All Under One Roof Raving’, ‘Loud Places’, and ‘Gosh’ followed, the latter two appearing on his debut album as a solo artist, 2015’s In Colour, which received nominations for a Best Dance/Electronic Album Grammy, the Mercury Prize and Album of the Year at the Brit Awards. Jamie released ‘Idontknow’ in 2020, boasting a faster-pace and more aggressive sound than his In Colour era. He returned in April this year with the festival ready anthem, ‘LET’S DO IT AGAIN’, released alongside his massive set at Coachella. Get ready to move when Jamie xx plays Falls 2022/2023!

Few artists have made an impact like South Korean born DJ and producer Peggy Gou. Inspired by the glory years of London club Plastic People, her natural feel for house and techno’s legacy led to a run of international hits; ‘Gou Talk’, ‘It Makes You Forget (Itgehane)’, ‘Starry Night’ and ‘Jigoo’. These iconic tracks with their playful, unmistakable MPC rhythms and irresistible melodies have seen her tour the world’s leading clubs and festivals, from Glastonbury to Dekmantel, De School to Printworks and now Peggy Gou will be the very first artist to headline Falls’ new Sugarloaf Resort.

This year Falls will make its debut in fresh locations in Victoria and Western Australia, and with this change comes lush new options for music lovers that like to live large…

BODYJAR ANNOUNCE NEW RITUALS TOUR WITH SPECIAL GUESTS CHASING GHOSTS & LOLA NEW RITUALS OUT NOW

by the partae May 4, 2022
written by the partae

Today, legendary Melbourne punk rock band Bodyjar announce the New Rituals Tour. Bodyjar will be heading out on the road in support of their latest album New Rituals. Special guests will be Aboriginal lead indie punk band Chasing Ghosts while opening up will be punk rock newcomers Lola. Full details below.

For nearly 30 years now, Bodyjar have built their local & international following with relentless touring and blistering high energy live shows, that have made them one of the most respected punk rock bands in the world.

Produced by Bodyjar and Sam Johnson (Northlane, Luca Brasi, Camp Cope, The Bennies) and mixed by Steve Evetts (New Found Glory, Architects), New Rituals sees Bodyjar return to the uptempo catchy punk rock the band are renowned for. Calling on all their experience over the years, the new album is a true return to form from one of Australia’s finest.

PRAISE FOR NEW RITUALS

“Bodyjar are still the gold standard of Aussie pop punk” – Double J

“Equal parts slick and powerful, and paired with the classic sound they’ve become known for” – Rolling Stone Australia

“A New Bodyjar Ripper” – Wall Of Sound

To survive over 25 years as a critically acclaimed and popular international live touring act takes more than good luck…it also takes determination, integrity and a knack for writing great songs. If you’ve spent any time skateboarding in Australia over the last few decades, your ears would have been assaulted by the sheer melodic mastery of tracks such as Not The Same & One In A Million. New Rituals is the 7th LP for Bodyjar which harks back to those songs, in what might be their most powerful record yet.

LISTEN TO NEW RITUALS

Special guests and NIMA nominated “New Talent of The Year” Chasing Ghosts came out blazing and unapologetic last year dropping their critically acclaimed EP HOMELANDS via Bad Apples Music. The EP received 4.5/5 stars from Rolling Stone Australia, titling them “the band Australia needs right now.”

The Grogans drop their churning psychedelic slow jam ‘Inside My Mind’ with kaleidoscopic music video + announce AU/NZ tour dates

by the partae May 4, 2022
written by the partae

“like the love child of The Ramones and Supergrass.” – Arun Kendall, Backseat Mafia

Melbourne raconteurs The Grogans return in all their laconic glory on their all out audio visual psych trip ‘Inside My Mind’. Filling the big shoes of the trio’s recent success with their 7’’ double A-side singles ‘Just A Kid’ and ‘Be Your Man’—collectively added to Spotify’s New Music Friday AU & NZ, Fresh Finds AU & NZ and Local Noise playlists—‘Inside My Mind’ continues The Grogans’ prolifically inventive and pigeonhole-defying style in a bluesy psych trip of epic proportions. To celebrate the release, Quin, Gus and Jordy, are thrilled to announce an upcoming Australia New Zealand tour this winter, heading to Tasmania, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, Byron Bay, Christchurch, Auckland and Wellington.

Out today via Cousin Will Records in tandem with a kaleidoscopic new video accompaniment, ‘Inside My Mind’ navigates perceived misconceptions and irrational thoughts in a woozy fuzz fest of swampy blues and surf psych. The song’s lucrative reverberations and hazy delay are exemplified by the Jackson Hayat directed clip with glistening colourful visuals by Nathaniel Stewart in a fever dream feast for the senses. Be sure to join the band tonight at 6pm AEST as they go live on their Youtube to join their fans in the video’s official release.

“The concept behind Inside My Mind’s music video was to create a set that made it look almost as if we were performing inside our own heads. The installation + projections build on this concept further, as when each of us are playing on our own within the installation, it is as if our minds are clogged up with our own thoughts (in this case, colours). These shots are then mixed in with the shots of the three of us all playing together, those shots are a lot less dense, with the colours / projections working together to create beautiful visuals without much at all getting in the way.” – The Grogans

nside my mind is a track that has been around for years. I believe it was written sometime between 2016/2017. This song is based on that anxious feeling you might get from making up irrational things in your head but understanding they are just fake perceptions you’ve created. The whole song (lyrically and sonically) is a different feel for this album following the last two singles, but our albums tend to normally dip into a few different genres, reflecting the three of our different influences.” – The Grogans

Having just completed a massive sold out Australian tour with Hockey Dad, as well as performing at Sailor Jerry’s Road to Rolling Stone concert alongside Eliza & The Delusionals and The Terrys, The Grogans are in fine form and raring to go for their biggest tour to date kicking off this June across three months at major cities across Australia and New Zealand. Do not miss your chance to catch this rising chameleon act as they perform songs from their expansive surf, punk, blues and reggae catalog this winter.

‘Inside My Mind’ Lyrics
I should have been lonely, according to all the facts.
I should have felt something, I felt it inside my chest.

Must have been a thing inside my mind because I can’t seem to find it ‘round here.
Must have been a thing inside my past because I can’t seem to find it ‘round here.

And I thought I was upset, from all the things you did to me.
I realised something, all the things were in my head.

Must have been a thing inside my mind because I can’t seem to find it ‘round here.
Must have been a thing inside my past because I can’t seem to find it ‘round here.

It’s in my head, It’s screwing up my head.
I hoped for peace of mind instead.

Must have been a thing inside my mind because I can’t seem to find it ‘round here.
Must have been a thing inside my past because I can’t seem to find it ‘round here.

Frankie Crea

by the partae May 3, 2022
written by the partae
Where are you currently based?

Perth Western Australia

How did you first start playing music?

I have my earliest memories of wanting my parents to buy me a guitar when I was 5 and then I ventured into drums and other instruments as I got older

What’s been happening recently?

Not much really just living my best life.

You’re back to playing music again after a 3 year hiatus from releasing music, please tell us what you’ve been up to and why did you choose to release music again?

Yes, well I have been through a lot the last few years focusing on other projects, playing shows in bands and dealing with personal things, but now being in the best form of myself mentally and physically i felt like it was time to show the world again what I’ve been quietly working on.

How has your musical journey developed in the last 3 years?

Its been crazy, taking a break served me well, i recharged and came back to songwriting with more of a clearer vision and openness like never before, everything seems to flow easier for me now when it comes to writing.

Your single ‘Plateaus’ is out now, what influenced the sound and songwriting?

Soundwise i was influenced by the likes of John Mayer, John Frusciante, James Blunt, Travis to name a few, i wanted to capture a mellow rock kind of vibe but also wanted to go back to the melodic style of music that my first EP entailed, i feel its my true forte plus i also wanted to explore a jazzier sophisticated mature sound because at the time of writing i was hell into jazz guitar playing and diminished sounding chords appealed to me, lyrics was inspired by someone i was close with a few years ago.

How did you go about writing ‘Plateaus’?

One day i had the guitar chords pop into my head and i rushed to my studio to lay it down then within 30 minutes everything just fell into place, before i knew it i had a full song and thought well this is definitely going to be the new single.

Where and when did you record/produce/master and who with?

It was mid 2020 and i did it all myself in my home studio.

How did you approach the recording process?

I was a bit nervous because i stopped writing for a good 6 months before hand and didn’t know what to expect, so i approached it calmly with a vision in mind and i was happier it came out better than i envisioned, it was a very zen-like approach.

Please tell us about any new music that’s on the way:

Well i am working on a new album, so the plan is to have that out sometime next year hopefully, but nothing is set in stone as of yet, long way away from finishing it, you don’t rush these things, could i drop another single or 2 along the way? Maybe…see how things go.

Who are you listening to at the moment?

Tied Down, Igorrr, Trickfinger, DICE, Jimi Hendrix, Red Hot Chili Peppers, South Summit, Ra Ra Viper to name a few.

What do you like to do away from music?

I like hanging with friends and family.

What’s planned for the remainder of 2022?

Working on album number 2 and defs a few holidays can’t wait to travel again.

Favourite food and place to hangout?

I love pub feeds, anywhere with a good vibe.

Top Ideas For Beautiful and Elegant Wedding Rings You’ll Love

by the partae May 3, 2022
written by the partae

If you have decided to take the greatest step in your life and ask your partner to spend eternity with you, the next thing on the list is to carefully plan a romantic marriage proposal. You should view this event, or better said, this moment, as a project that demands in-detail planning. Finding a perfect engagement ring is the first thing on the list, and it must be thoughtful, suitable, and meaningful. This is a piece of jewelry your partner will wear forever, so you must make a perfect pick. Luckily, there is a whole bunch of engagement ring ideas. So, no matter if you want to go with diamonds or some other gemstones, silver, gold, or platinum, you should not be worried that you will fail to find the ring your partner will absolutely adore, and here are some top designs to have in mind.

Diamond Rings

Women definitely love diamonds, and brides who want to be noticed will consider diamond wedding bands. There is something about diamonds, and the beautiful designs of these rings will make you fall in love with them. The best thing about diamond rings is their universal nature that will simply fit any style. If your future bride is into a minimalistic style, then they will be happy with plain bands and solitaire diamonds. If your fiancée craves attention, however, she will prefer halo engagement rings with large stones and patterned bands. Diamond rings come in various designs, with bigger and small stones, two-toned metals, and double paved bands. Your perfect pick depends solely on your bride’s taste.

Rings with Twisted Bands

If you want to add a bit of complexity to the ring and symbolize your love for the finest, then you should consider getting twisted bands. The deep meaning behind these bands is endless love and commitment, indicating infinite romance, and moments of love you will revive over and over again. Yet, this effective style is quite versatile and will let you play with different designs. The twisted band design goes well with any metal and stone, and you can pick the variation that will suit you the best. If you are more into simple designs, then you should consider getting a clean round-up twist. However, if you choose drama and sophistication, then double paved twisted bands with a big stone are the right picks for your wishes.

Simple Engagement Rings

Nothing can beat simplicity. If you like the sophisticated and elegant style and understand the essence of simplicity, huge stones and sparkles will not be your thing. There are many beautiful and simple engagement ring designs that will definitely match your style. If you want to make a perfect pick, then you should consider getting a simple, plain band with solitaire or round stone. Alternatives to this are metal colors and shapes such as princess, cushion, or trillion. Any of these are simple and elegant, leaving the impression of class and unmatched elegance.

Solitaire Center Stone Rings

These are classic picks when it comes to engagement rings, and this is because of a variety of reasons. These rings are rich and extravagant, immediately catch attention, and are the epitome of the bridal style. This ring is a perfect choice for every bride no matter the style and is unique because of the stone that is the focal point of the ring. This is the top engagement ring regardless of the shape you opt to. It does not matter if you take emerald, radiant, oval, pear, marquise shape, you will get the highest class, sparkle, and brilliance with this design.

Unique Engagement Ring Ideas

Loads of things contribute to the unique spirit of an engagement ring. Things such as stone, cuts, bands, and design, in general, can make it look unmatched. Unique engagement rings are a perfect choice for brides who are out of the frame and have authentic personalities. If you want to make your engagement ring stand out, then you should consider vintage designs and colorful gemstones, adding a bit of personality to the design.

Who Said It Should Be a Diamond?

You do not have to be pressured to get super expensive diamonds, despite the fact that diamonds are indeed girls’ best friends. Instead, you can get crystals such as amethyst, sapphire, or beautiful soft pearls. If you think that this ring will not be enough, you are so wrong. Engagement rings with crystals and pearls are equal in beauty to diamonds and will last for generations.

When choosing a perfect engagement ring, you need to go for a classy, sophisticated, and elegant design. You need to make the pick that will make your girl’s finger shine and make your most important day a wonderful one.

Do It All Again was recorded at both The Brain Studios in Sydney and singer Nick Lowe’s bedroom studio over the summer of 2021/2022.
