Fresh off the back of his recent singles Curtain Call and Wake Up, the producer returns with a captivating new offering — one that sits at the intersection of emotional depth and club-ready energy.
Built from a blend of dance, house, and UKG influences, Hold On (Forever) glides between intimacy and euphoria. Drawing inspiration from artists like Caribou, Jamie xx, and Tourist, 44 Ardent layers his sound with rich textures and emotional weight, delivering a track that feels both introspective and built for the dance floor. At its heart is a towering, emotional drop — a signature move he’s honed since his early SoundCloud days.
“I’ve always loved a big, emotional, wall-of-sound drop with lots of elements and complexity,” he says. “Back then, people would literally scan the waveform and skip straight to the drop, so artists put a lot of energy into making that first moment hit hard. These days, it feels like hooks at the very start are more important, but for me, old habits die hard.”
That nostalgia is tempered by something more human. Beneath the shimmering synths and propulsive beats, Hold On (Forever) carries a lyrical weight that lingers long after the track ends. Lines like “cold iron, hot brand” cut through with brutal honesty, exploring the sting of human interactions and the scars words can leave behind. “It’s about how words can be painful,” 44 Ardent explains. “At the time I was thinking about how needlessly nasty humans can be to one another.”
