What do you get when you cross one of Sydney’s most iconic music venues and two music industry greats passionate about emerging local artists? One of Australia’s longest continuously running live music showcases of up-and-coming local talent.

The Music Makers Club, a beacon of live music on the Sydney music scene, proudly announces its 100th show. This event has become a cornerstone for showcasing the best new emerging talent, and reaching this significant milestone is a testament to its enduring appeal.

In an era when live music is under threat, the Music Makers Club has not only persevered but thrived. Since its inception in 2012, the Club has provided a platform for local artists to share their talent and connect with audiences.

Emerging from a long-standing friendship between Mark Gerber, co-founder and CEO of Oxford Art Factory, and award-winning producer and A&R Manager, owner of The A&R Department and co-founder of Oxford Creative Academy, Matt O’Connor, the pair saw potential in combining resources.

With Matt’s keen eye for emerging local talent and Mark providing the Gallery Bar at the legendary Oxford Art Factory, the Music Makers Club was born. Initially, it was a weekly event with the primary goal of giving up-and-coming bands a stage and the chance to perform at the coveted Oxford Art Factory. The 100th show milestone will celebrate the clubs ongoing commitment to supporting the arts and fostering a vibrant music scene.

“Reaching our 100th show is a huge achievement, especially in these challenging times for live music, we are incredibly grateful for the support of the local community, the dedication of our talented performers, and the passion of our loyal audience. This milestone is a celebration of everyone’s efforts to keep the spirit of live music alive.” – MATT O’CONNER, OXFORD CREATIVE ACADEMY

Over the years, the Music Makers Club has featured diverse genres and styles, reflecting a rich tapestry of local talent. From indie rock to pop, folk to electronic, each event has been a unique experience, bringing together music lovers and creating unforgettable experiences. It has launched the careers of many well-known artists, including Ocean Alley and Harts.

The Oxford Creative Academy has emerged as one of Australia’s most immersive music education providers, and with a living, breathing monthly student project like the Music Makers Club, the students are given invaluable, hands-on industry experience. Today, all aspects of the Music Makers Club are managed by OCA students, allowing them to practice their newly acquired skills in a real-world setting.

Taking place on the 16th of August at the Oxford Art Factory, the 100th Music Makers Club showcase will feature 12 of the brightest up-and-coming acts; including The Colliflowers, Holly Riva, Butter Knife, Bobby Uncle, West Wind, The Sooks, Sunset Sherbet, Overnight, Eshaan, The Daturas, Dalton and Oscar Lennon.

“We invite everyone to join us for this epic celebration of live music with some of Australia’s best and brightest emerging talent. With the Gallery Bar Records, it’s now more than just a show; it’s a statement that OCA/OAF’s creative hub is very much alive and kicking. Mark and I, along with our students and crew, look forward to coming together to celebrate the power of music and the talent of our local artists.”
MATT O’CONNER, OXFORD CREATIVE ACADEMY

This event will be complemented by the launch of Gallery Bar Records, which will run adjacent to the Music Makers Club and represent the real-world industry immersion students already experience through the Oxford Creative Academy’s creative hub. This further reiterates Mark and Matt’s commitment to emerging artists and the importance of industry-led education.

“I am thrilled to celebrate the 100th Music Makers Club event at Oxford Art Factory on August 16th. This milestone reflects our mutual commitment to supporting and showcasing emerging talent in the music industry. It’s been an incredible journey for Matt O’Connor and myself, and we’re excited to continue fostering creativity and providing a platform for artists to shine.”

Melbourne’s LEFT AT THE AVENUE release indie-rock ‘WAILING’

by the partae August 12, 2024
written by the partae

Melbourne-based indie-rock outfit, Left At The Avenue, have today released a gritty new single, ‘Wailing’. Recorded at JMC Recording Studios, the track features a raw blend of indie rock with grungy undertones, expertly mixed by Dan Molad and mastered by Joe Carra. This powerful new release captures intense emotion through lyricism and dynamic instrumentation, offering a reflection of the band’s personal and artistic struggles.

‘Wailing’ is a testament to the group’s ability to channel their experiences into their music. The song delves into themes of frustration, perseverance, and the cathartic release found through songwriting. With its raw energy and heartfelt lyrics, ‘Wailing’ stands out as a deeply personal and impactful track.

“We were suffering from some pretty bad writer’s block just before we wrote this one, so to be able to finally get out the pent-up anger from struggling through 2023 and finally release it into ‘Wailing,’ I feel like you can hear that…at least we do.”

NICO DAWE, BASS GUITAR

Left At The Avenue have been no strangers to the live music scene in Victoria over the past few years, gaining a loyal fan base along the way. The band, comprised of lifelong friends Henry Parks, Connor Pawsey, and Nico Dawe, have seen recent success in singles, ‘Minibar’ and ‘Cinnamon’,  which have gone onto amass tens of thousands in streams across all DSPs. With ‘Wailing’, Left At The Avenue look to further the connection with their audience,  by giving them unfiltered, untamed honesty.

“This song’s a reflection of many things in our lives, it’s deeply personal, performing it, even rehearsing it…taps into something within me that no other track has done before.”

HENRY PARKS, SINGER

Of the songs accompanying visualiser, animator Jade Gallogly has said:

“I felt so connected to the song’s feelings of anxiety, desperation and anger – I tried to channel that into how I drew the scratchy and unkept animations, letting my instinctual reaction to the song take the wheel. I hope others can find pieces of themselves in this song as I have, and I hope the visuals I’ve created help aid in that endeavour”

JADE GALLOGLY, ANIMATOR

PRAISE

“This feels really really special! I adore the passion, emotion and vulnerability that shines through in this delivery! Feels like every band member is in a world of their own and I’m so entranced!”
Anika Luna, Triple J Unearthed

“Though intentionally pulling from those they adore, LATA are able to stand out amongst a sea of sound-alikes. Melodically and lyrically relatable despite remaining specific, LATA seem to have stumbled upon the perfect indie-rock songwriting formula.”
Happy Mag

written by the partae
Just releasing his incredible new track “Overwhelmed” – Evan Hannah is emerging as a dynamic force in the art world, Evan is a queer Black multi-disciplinary artist, performer, writer, and music educator based in Arlington, VA. Their artistic journey began in Virginia Beach, where they were mentored by John Vann, whose guidance ignited Evan’s passion for music and community involvement from an early age. Participating in programs like The Boy’s Choir of Hampton Roads and the Norfolk State University Summer Music Clinic, Evan found their calling in Black artistry, shaping their artistic vision and dedication to communal expression.

Evan’s artistic path began at age 9, rooted in their local community and inspired by their experiences and Mr. Vann’s mentorship. They turned to songwriting as a means of navigating the complexities of adolescence, with themes of grief, self-acceptance, and loneliness reflecting in their work. Each project serves as a conduit for personal healing and communal connection, inviting audiences to explore the human experience with empathy and grace.

Beyond their artistic pursuits, Evan is channeling their creative energy into entrepreneurship with the upcoming launch of their skincare line, Surrender Skin, in January 2025. This new venture embodies their commitment to holistic self-expression and community empowerment, reflecting a vision where beauty aligns with authenticity and self-love.

Having spent years creating and performing original works in Hampton Roads, Evan is now preparing for their official artistic debut with a new album set for release this fall. Under Vann’s mentorship, they have explored a diverse range of musical expressions, including classical music, gospel/choral, and original compositions, broadening their artistic palette and expanding their creative boundaries.

written by the partae

THE KID LAROI ANNOUNCES NEW SHOW DATES FOR NOVEMBER 2024 WITH SPECIAL GUESTS QUAVO AND ONEFOUR, TICKETS ON SALE THURS 8 AUGUST

ANNOUNCES NEW SHOW DATES FOR NOVEMBER 2024
WITH SPECIAL GUESTS QUAVO AND ONEFOUR
TICKETS ON SALE THURSDAY 8 AUGUST
Australia’s own multi-platinum chart-topping global superstar The Kid LAROI has today shared his re-routed national Australian tour for November 2024, with two additional show dates set for Brisbane and Hobart. Armed with his debut studio album THE FIRST TIME and having just dropped the hit new single Girls, LAROI’s forthcoming national tour will also see the Sydney-hailing superstar’s iconic friends, Quavo and ONEFOUR jump on the tour with him (excluding Gold Coast and Hobart shows).

Presented by TEG Live, this mammoth Aussie run will commence on November 11 at Gold Coast Home of the Arts, before traversing Brisbane, Sydney, Perth, Adelaide and Hobart, finishing up in Melbourne with shows at Rod Laver on November 29 and 30.

Tickets to THE FIRST TIME shows will go on sale to the general public on Thursday 8 August at 1pm local from ticketek.com.au, with an exclusive 48 hour artist presale live from Tuesday 6 August at 1pm (password FIRSTTIME).

Thrilled to be bringing his tour back to home turf, LAROI says, “I’m really excited to confirm the November tour dates and bring my show to Australia. It’s going to be incredible to perform back home and share this experience with all of you. I’m also pumped to announce that Quavo will be joining the tour as a special guest. Can’t wait to see you guys and make this tour unforgettable!”

Expanding on the homegrown hero’s first-ever headline Australian tour in 2022, which saw LAROI add multiple extra arena shows due to overwhelming demand, these upcoming 2024 shows will also give his legion of fans a chance to witness some of LAROI’s most iconic hits from his 2021 ARIA Award-winning collab with Justin Bieber, Stay, to his near on 1 billion streamed smash, Without You, to his genre-blurring 2022 track Thousand Miles, his 2023 chart-burner Love Again and of course his latest hit single, Girls. The tour will also showcase LAROI’s most personal and musically complex statement to date in the form of his brand new album THE FIRST TIME, boasting 20 new songs from the revered Aussie export alongside his trademark amalgamation of hip hop, pop, alternative and indie flavours.

Supporting LAROI on the tour will be his pal, American rapper, singer, producer and global icon, Quavo. The Migos frontman has reached celebrity status the world over, with a number of acclaimed Migos and solo album releases under his belt, he has performed alongside Madonna at the Eurovision finale in 2019, and amassed Billboard 100 Top Ten Singles with Post Malone on Congratulations, Justin Bieber’s Intentions, Liam Payne’s Strip That Down, Drake’s Portland, and DJ Khaled’s No Brainer, and only last month releasing Tough with Lana Del Ray.

The pioneers of drill music in Australia, Sydney’s ONEFOUR will also be hitting the road with LAROI, offering a hugely rare opportunity to see drill and rap group live on stage, having only performed live a handful of times over the decade since they formed, including at LAROI’s 2022 Sydney show when he pulled them on stage, and Listen Out Festival last year.

A maiden full-length album from The Kid LAROI, aka Charlton Kenneth Jeffrey Howard, THE FIRST TIME follows on from the rapper’s debut 2020 mixtape F*ck Love, with LAROI rebranding his sound into a style befitting of his international celebrity status, while also ultimately serving up one of the most anticipated albums of last year. Featuring guest appearances from Jungkook and Central Cee on the single Too Much, Baby Drill and Future on What’s the Move?, Robert Glasper and YoungBoy Never on Call Me Instead, and D4vd on The Line, THE FIRST TIME is a technicolour celebration of collaboration and unwavering creativity, traversing the famed Kamilaroi artist’s professional and creative journey, catapulting to stardom alongside his earlier work with Juice Wrld, the 2021 smash single Stay alongside Justin Bieber, and the mixtape that started it all, F*ck Love in 2020.

THE FIRST TIME album has amassed over 1.2 billion streams globally and debuted at #3 ARIA Album chart (#1 ARIA Australian Album), #7 in New Zealand, Top 20 in Canada/Denmark, and top 30 in the US and UK, while its singles TOO MUCH and LOVE AGAIN both hit the top 10 ARIA singles chart and became radio mainstays. Both singles also cracked the triple j Hottest 100, as did the fan favourite single BLEED (which LAROI says is his favourite song he has ever written). NIGHTS LIKE THIS went viral on Tik Tok earlier this year with streams surpassing 100M million. LOVE AGAIN also saw LAROI nominated for two APRA Awards and two ARIA Awards including ‘Best Solo Artist’ and ‘Song of the Year’, LAROI was the #2 Most Streamed Australian Artist for 2023 on Spotify, and earlier this year, LAROI unveiled his documentary Kids Are Growing Up. Furthermore, The Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) just last week announced a new award recognising homegrown success, with LAROI taking out the inaugural Australian Chart #1 Awards with his song Girls.

In a swelteringly short space of time, LAROI has taken the world by storm, with two nominations in 2022 at the Grammy Awards, for Best New Artist and also for his work on Justin Bieber’s sixth full length Justice, three wins and multiple nominations at the ARIA Music Awards, Billboard Award wins, and a National Indigenous Music Award alongside his ever-expanding repertoire, as well as his dominating online and pop culture presence. Currently in command of over 43 million monthly listeners on Spotify, over 2 billion views on YouTube, a single, Forever & Again, featured on the official soundtrack for the defining cinematic moment of 2023, Barbie, and a recent 31 date North American run alongside Lil Baby, LAROI’s effortless talent and raw charisma is only matched by his enamouring onstage presence; a fact which permeates vividly whether LAROI is performing at the likes of Coachella or commanding a crowd for his own sold out headline shows. And with two years now chalked up since his last performances on home soil, 2024 is set to fittingly celebrate THE FIRST TIME for the very first time in a run of unforgettable nights across Australia.

Tickets to THE FIRST TIME Australian tour go on sale Thursday 8 August from 1pm local time.

R3HAB & Deorro Reunite: Latin-Dance Track ‘Gózalo’ Out Now

by the partae August 4, 2024
written by the partae

R3HAB and Deorro Collaborate for the First Time in 10 Years On Latin-Dance 180 BPM Heater – “Gózalo.” Out on Sony Music

Artists: R3HAB, Deorro
Title: Gózalo
Label: Sony Music

Multi-platinum Dutch-Moroccan DJ and producer R3HAB joins forces with Mexican-American producer Deorro for the first time in ten years on their new release – “Gózalo.” The two artists combine their unique and dynamic sounds by fusing traditional Latin rhythms, courtesy of Deorro‘s side, with R3HAB‘s signature driving, high-energy bassline almost reminiscent of hardstyle, making for a dancefloor heater that seamlessly bridges the gap between the two genres. “Gózalo” evokes midsummer parties with high vibes and grooving long into the night, making it the perfect crowd pleaser. R3HAB and Deorro‘s last collaboration was “Flashlight,” released on Spinnin’ Records a decade ago. It made a mark as one of the most known tracks from big-room EDM‘s golden era, and still remains a fan favorite with over 130M streams and regular appearances in sets to this day.

“It’s been a decade since Deorro and I dropped “Flashlight” – a track which has had a global impact on the EDM scene and still features in all my sets. Ten years later, we’re joining forces for “Gózalo,” a record that combines Deorro‘s Latin roots with my high-energy sound. Ever since I started working on it, the hook has been stuck in my head, and now that it’s out, it can be stuck in yours too. Vamos!” – R3HAB

“Excited to be working with my brother R3HAB again on something with a little Latin flavor this time.” – Deorro

R3HAB

Multi-platinum DJ and producer Fadil El Ghoul, better known as R3HAB, has been trailblazing his way through dance music for the past fifteen years. From his breakthrough remixes for Rihanna, Drake, Taylor Swift, and Calvin Harris to anthems such as Platinum-certified “All Around The World (La La La)” and “Lullaby,” to his collaborations with the likes of Ava Max, ZAYN, Luis Fonsi, Sean Paul, and more, R3HAB has proven to be one of the most forward-thinking artists in the game. His work has collected over 11 billion streams to date, including more than 1.2B in 2023 alone. R3HAB founded his label CYB3RPVNK in 2016, which has passed 4B streams across platforms since its inception. R3HAB continues to evolve and diversify his sound by working with artists around the globe, pushing the boundaries of dance music as he collaborates across genres and languages. He is Spotify’s Most Discovered Artist, one of Spotify’s top 350 most streamed artists, ranked #14 on the prestigious DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs chart, and has earned over 80 Diamond, Platinum, and Gold certificates. R3HAB has embarked on multiple sold-out worldwide tours and was the first dance music artist to sell out 15 consecutive shows in China. On top of that, he performed at the world’s top festivals, such as EDC, Ultra Music Festival, Tomorrowland, Balaton Sound, Coachella, Summer Sonic Festival, DWP Jakarta. With his combination of innate artistry and innovative attitude, R3HAB has earned his place as a household name in dance music.

Deorro

Los Angeles native Erick Orrosquieta, known as Deorro (and TON!C as well), is a house/EDM producer and DJ, as well as a proud Mexican-American. After he developed a following through his Soundcloud page, he reached a wider audience in his early twenties, from 2012 through 2014, with extensive touring, as well as brash solo releases and collaborations on the Dim Mak and Mad Decent labels. Among his highlights were “Dechorro” (2013), “Freak” (2014), and “Five Hours” (2014), the last of which reached the Top 10 in France and Belgium. Additionally, he remixed tracks by the likes of Laidback Luke (“Pogo“), Steve Aoki (“Ooh“), and Gareth Emery (“Lights & Thunder“). Deorro‘s momentum continued with “Five More Hours” (featuring Chris Brown, 2015) and “Bailar” (featuring Elvis Crespo, 2016), both of which went Top Ten in multiple territories. A slew of additional singles followed into 2017 when he issued his debut collection, “Good Evening.” He continued his prolific run in 2018 with nearly a dozen single releases, including “Shakalaka” with Steve Aoki, “Dracarys” with Dirty Audio, and “Bring It Back” (feat. Max Styler) with MAKJ. In 2019 he teamed up with Quintino and MAKJ for the high-energy single “Knockout.” Since that time, Deorro has had releases with some of the top collaborators in both the EDM and Latin genres, like his single release in 2022, Savage with Tiësto, and his debut Latin album “ORRO,” which features an astounding 18 collaborators over 19 tracks.

Funny story-turned-collaboration between Local Singles and Sam Blacky on “Hotsteppa.” Out Now on Spinnin’ Deep

Artists: Local Singles, Sam Blacky
Title: Hotsteppa
Label: Spinnin’ Deep

Download / Stream

International powerhouse Sam Blacky joins forces with producer/DJ duo Local Singles to create their new single “Hotsteppa,” a tribal Afrohouse-influenced gem that truly represents both of their sonic profiles. Local Singles deliver a rhythmic and euphoric tune that builds with an element of mystique into something special that you’ll put on repeat immediately. Blacky, who has always been vocal about her love for travel and incorporating global sounds into her music, shines in this space, fusing deep bass undertones with tribal instrumentals and vocals. “Hotsteppa” is a catchy record  that makes you feel like you’re grooving in the jungle or desert until sunrise – making it no surprise then that it’s first live plays came from Diplo and Francis Mercier at Burning Man and Tom & Collins in Tulum. “Hotsteppa” follows Local Singles‘ track “Fever” on BLOND: ISH‘s label and Sam Blacky‘s “Ronaldinho” with Niniola, both of which were released in May.

“I went to see Keinemusik for my birthday at the Brooklyn Mirage, who has been one of my favorite artists for years.  I didn’t run into the Local Singles boys, but found out later they were right next to me in the crowd the entire time. We laughed so hard when we saw each other’s stories, and I couldn’t believe we missed each other that night. We have always been friends and supportive of each other, so we decided we had to collaborate soon to memorize that funny moment and show our love of the tribal and Afrohouse sound, and this is how ‘Hotsteppa‘ was born.” – Sam Blacky

“Big up di crew ini di area. Getting ‘Hotsteppa‘ out was a labor of love. From finding the right collaborator in Sam Blacky, to finding the right vocalist, and last but not least, finding the right label in Spinnin’ Deep. It’s taken over a year, but we can finally say… here comes the ‘Hotsteppa.’ It’s like when they say the name of the movie in the movie, but with the song title, haha.” – Local Singles

Nuanu City, Bali, August 1, 2024: Bali’s music arts and culture festival ‘Suara’ meaning ‘voice’ in Indonesian has wrapped its third edition following a successful three-day extravaganza. The multi-day event was made all the more special by the soft opening of the incredible festival site, the creative city Nuanu.

Welcoming more than 9,000 fans across three days from more than 60 countries, the crowd was a mix of Bali locals and visitors to the Island of the Gods. The weekend’s festivities embodied the philosophy of ‘Tri Hita Karana’ as an odyssey through Balinese culture where living in harmony with nature, community and spirituality seamlessly intertwined. Permeating the essence of the festival throughout all aspects of its programming, the philosophy was reflected in its highly curated lineup which included local legends, regional stars and a number of international acts making their Bali debut as Nuanu City opened up more of its 44-hectare site than ever before.

“This past weekend was undoubtedly one of the highlights of my 27 year career curating and producing events around the globe,” said Suara Co-Founder, CEO and Creative Director Jason Swamy.

“After months of hard work by our incredible team, it was amazing to see people interact, engage and appreciate all the elements that we spent a long time planning in meticulous detail. A huge shout out to our thousands of staff for helping us pull off such an extraordinary event as well as Nuanu founder Sergey Solonin for providing us with the ultimate playground. Building on his foundation from the two previous editions, his belief in our vision to take Suara to new, international heights while continuing to spotlight the incredibly rich culture and all that is on offer from across Bali, was instrumental to making the magic happen.

“This was not for the passive-minded, rather it was designed to be participatory in every possible way and so a big shout out to all who joined us and wholeheartedly embraced our programming. We couldn’t have done this without you.”

Musical highlights included a heartwarming performance from headline act Angus & Julia Stone (AUS) who graced the Suara main stage on Sunday night with a four-piece band including a trumpet solo from Julia Stone, a packed dance floor for Saturday’s headliner HVOB (live) (AUT), and impeccable tunes from Friday’s headliner, classically trained electronic ensemble Brandt Brauer Frick (GER). A plethora of local and international talent such as Ramengvrl (ID), Batavia Collective (ID), We are Neurotic (ID), Yung Raja (SG), LP Giobbi (USA), Rodriguez Jr. (FRA), Sainte Vie (GER), YoungR (UK), Deer Jade (CH), Geju (RUS), Lastlings (AUS), Mansionair (AUS) and collectives Lifted (HK), Yeti (HK), small&TALL (HK), Spin Sum (SG), Chi Wah Wah (AUS), Disko Afrika (ID) plus more rounded out the musical lineup.

With more than 100 music artists performing across one of the festival’s more than nine stages, the packed programming also spanned visual, interactive and performance art, cultural acts, circus performances, food, beverage and market vendors, wellness sessions, dance classes, breathwork, inspiring talks, sustainability initiatives, and family-friendly activities. With something for everyone no matter age or life stage, Suara Festival offered a slice of what it could be like to live and play inside Nuanu’s walls.

“Seeing Nuanu come alive with global creativity and energy during this year’s Suara Festival was truly inspiring. The festival offered an incredible journey of music, art, and cultural exchange, and we are grateful to everyone who made this event a success. We look forward to creating even more unforgettable experiences in our Creative City in the future,” said Sergey Solonin, Founder of Nuanu, Co-Founder of Suara Festival.

For those keen to partake in next year’s festivities at an unparalleled price, the fourth edition of Suara Festival in 2025 is announced with tickets on-sale starting at US$138 via Megatix.

See below for the top experiences from the third edition of Suara. With so many incredible experiences on offer, it is not hard to see why it is fast becoming the must-attend destination festival in Southeast Asia.

Suara Festival 2024 Highlights

Nuanu Opening Ceremony on Day 1

Kicking off on Friday, July 26 at 2pm with Nuanu’s opening ceremony to mark the soft opening of Nuanu, the reception included a welcome speech from the Creative City’s founder Sergey Solonin alongside remarks from a local government official – I Gede Susila, the Regional Secretary of Tabanan Regency, Bali. The proceedings were complemented by an Okokan dance, a traditional dance originating from Tabanan, the region in which Nuanu is situated. The ceremony focused on the vision for the Creative City and how Suara is embodying the five pillars of Nuanu (education, art & culture, nature, health & wellness, living & lifestyle) across its diverse programming.

Earth Sentinels by Daniel Popper

Renowned South African sculpturalist Daniel Popper’s stunning Earth Sentinels stood guard over attendees as they entered through the festival grounds with exceptional nature-inspired visual projection mapping lighting up the installation after dark.

Grammy-nominees Mansionair pulled at the heartstrings on Day 1

Taking the stage on Friday evening, the Aussie electronic trio’s emotive melodies had the main stage enthralled.

Circus spectacles

Bali’s Circus Academy roamed the festival grounds on stilts dressed as butterflies adding tropical flair throughout the site. Aerialist hoopers and trapeze artists from Moving Stars Bali swung high above revellers and Fiery Pixies played with fire with grace and precision leaving festivalgoers in awe.

Traditional Balinese performances

From Kecak (a Balinese Hindu dance and musical drama developed in the 1930s), to Joged Bumbung (a dance intended as entertainment which has been proposed to be part of world cultural heritage by UNESCO) to Barong and Rangda dances (a dance of mythological creatures with supernatural powers showcasing the eternal battle between good and evil), traditional performances peppered throughout the festival offered international guests an opportunity to immerse themselves in Bali’s rich, cultural heritage.

Dancing in the rain with Rodriguez Jr. (LIVE) at Luna Beach Club on Day 1

Making his debut in Bali, France’s Rodriguez Jr. wowed festivalgoers with a driving live melodic set that had revellers dancing seaside surrounded by lush nature against the backdrop of Nyanyi beach and Alexander Milov’s LUNA sculpture at Bali’s newest beachclub. As he closed out the stunning day to night venue close to midnight, raindrops on the dance floor added the perfect dramatic touch to the final few minutes of his set offering some much needed refreshment after a full day dancing under the sun and stars.

Day 1 Headliner Brandt Brauer Frick (LIVE) on the Suara Main Stage

Closing out the Suara main stage, German electronic trio Brandt Brauer Frick shared their ‘emotional body music’ influenced by renowned composers such as Steve Reich and Philip Glass coupled with the likes of producers Ricardo Villalobos and Plastikman.

The KidsZone by Jungle Kids

Throughout each day of the festival, daytime programming for children by Bali’s Jungle Kids meant families could experience the Suara magic with little ones so they could explore, learn and have fun before the evening’s festivities kicked in. From face painting and storytime to dreamcatcher making, wooden toy decorating, clay masterclasses, magicians, capoeira dancers, experiments, and so much more, a nanny service also supported parents throughout the festival weekend.

Cuddles with adorable alpacas
