Label: Repopulate Mars

Download / Stream

Native Californian and international sensation Sam Blacky makes her debut on Lee Foss‘s Repopulate Mars with “Colombiana,” a tech-house firestarter with a sultry edge. The new single is the next tribute to Blacky‘s love of travel and appreciation of culture, incorporating elements of traditional Latin music with her signature tech and tribal style. Strong kick drums and organic instrumentals combine for a record that will have you booty shaking on the dancefloor and imagining yourself framed by the ocean and the setting sun in an exotic paradise. “Colombiana” is Blacky‘s first release since her “Summer Solstice” EP from the last summer.

“‘Colombiana‘ was inspired by my love for the Latin influence in music. It seems to be coming to the forefront much more recently, which makes me so happy. The sensual guitar set amongst tech house tribal vibes is what makes it for me. Since I started performing and especially making music, Repopulate Mars has always been one of my biggest goals. I think the level of taste-making and innovation in the tech house scene is unparalleled, and I couldn’t be happier to join the family.” – Sam Blacky

The “Belly Dancer” Producer BYOR Asks You to Dance With His New Tech House Single “Say Yes.” Out Now on Spinnin’ Records

by the partae August 13, 2022
written by the partae

Artists: BYOR
Title: Say Yes
Label: Spinnin’ Records

Download / Stream

Rising star BYOR releases his dancefloor-friendly new single “Say Yes” on Spinnin’ Records, an end-of-summer anthem perfect for those late-season festivals. He opens with a sultry question, “If I asked you to dance, would you say yes?” as if teasing the crowd with what’s to come; the talented DJ and producer then seamlessly weaves in a tech house beat with strong kickdrums and rising cymbals, topping it all off with funky melodies that give listeners no choice but to get down and groove. No matter what BYOR asks us to get moving, with this beat, the answer will always be “yes.” See what he had to say about the track below:

“The story behind the single and its title is that every DJ dreams of the same thing – a huge dancefloor filled with a responsive crowd. But even the most confident DJs, since they are all human beings, have complexes, echoes of doubts, and uncertainty. In my head, every set begins with a silent question that I’d like to ask the crowd  – if I ask you to dance, would you say “Yes“? All doubts are dispelled instantly when I see the answer is ‘Yes!” – BYOR

Since 2020, BYOR has made a household name for himself on Tiesto’s Musical Freedom and AFTR:HRS labels with releases such as “Feel That Way’,” “Keep On Dancin’,” and more. After listening to his tracks, it’s clear that BYOR makes his own rules to the game of life and music, with his style ranging from tech house to big room and more. BYOR had his breakthrough moment this year in February with “Belly Dancer” with Imanbek, which has already clocked up 100M streams on Spotify alone since its release and became a recognizable dancefloor filler. Keep an eye out for more from BYOR coming soon.

Paul van Dyk & Fuenka take you on a trip with ‘Artefact’, out now VANDIT!

by the partae August 13, 2022
written by the partae

Known for his ability to create evocative and transcendental tracks, Paul van Dyk’s latest offering, ‘Artefact’ alongside UK duo Fuenka, demonstrates this in abundance. With the pioneering electronic artist releasing the third single from his highly anticipated 11th studio album The Record, ‘Artefact’ comes from Paul’s Off The Record segment of the project focusing on deeper releases to showcase another element in the producer’s arsenal.

The follow-up to recent album singles ‘SHINE Ibiza Anthem 2022′ and ‘But Not Tonight feat Christian Burns’, which have already received epic outings across the mainstages of UNTOLD and EXIT Festivals, Luminosity Beach Festival and EDEN Ibiza, ‘Artefact’ represents a simmering yet effervescent presence that primes the listener on a joyful voyage. Taking cascading rhythmic melody that flows with metallic prestige, a more profound, thick bassline then introduces a fuller body to the song’s underbelly. All of which are upheld by driving frequencies that propel the track forward. Distinctly building tension with a push-and-pull of attributes that weave throughout, both producers then bring in cinematic, spacious pockets to allow dominant elements to rise. As a result, ‘Artefact’ is a wonder that stands grandiose yet progressive within its musical aura and extended transitions.

Paul van Dyk has helped establish electronic music’s foundations and continues pushing its boundaries. Currently working on his 11th studio album, the renowned musical innovator continues to be more enthusiastic about electronic music and the global scene than ever. Through his iconic VANDIT imprint, van Dyk continues to stock the scene with dancefloor anthems, whilst his weekly VONYC Sessions radio show recently passed its 820th episode. Fans seeking to show their support for Paul van Dyk away from the dancefloor can do this by voting for him in the 2022 edition of the Top 100 DJs Poll here.

Fuenka is a rising duo hailing from the UK, bringing hypnotic releases across many labels. Having collaborated with names including Paul Thomas, John 00 Fleming, and now, Paul van Dyk, their shows across renowned events, including Luminosity and ADE, have only showcased the live talents in a recontextualized fashion.

‘Artefact’ from Paul van Dyk and Fuenka is out now on VANDIT!

Roll out the red carpet, Sydney is set to step into the global spotlight as it hosts the return of the World Class Cocktail Festival, from Friday 9 to Sunday 18 September.

An extraordinary celebration of vibrant food, drink, and cocktail culture, the festival will welcome award-winning bartenders, foodies and cocktail lovers from more than 50 countries. The festival will be Australia’s opportunity to showcase the very best of its incredible homegrown hospitality scene, and the skills, creativity, charisma and talent behind its unique cocktail culture.

Across nine sensational days and nights, leading Australian food and drink venues such as Quay, Bennelong and Shell House will join forces with the world’s greatest names in the global bar scene and cutting-edge culinary creatives to deliver unrivalled cocktail experiences, one-of-a-kind events, unexpected food and drink pop-ups, inspiring collaborations and seriously cool parties.

Hailing from the world’s number one bar, The Connaught‘s ‘Master of the Martini’ Ago Perrone will be jetting in from London to create magic with Tanqueray No. TEN at Bennelong, for a one-night-only collaboration that will see the world’s best bar meet the world’s best view to deliver the world’s best martini. Guests will indulge in an iconic menu prepared by the legendary Executive Chef Peter Gilmore, paired with spectacular cocktails by Perrone, a true master of his craft.

On the other side of Sydney Harbour, a sparkling whisky lounge brought to you by celebrated London bar Lyaness, hosted by none other than the world’s most awarded bartender, Ryan Chetiyawardana aka Mr Lyan, will come to life. For a few days only, Mr Lyan will transform the Green Room of fine dining restaurant Quay into a vibrant bar and supper club, serving the icon of modern luxury: premium Johnnie Walker Blue Label cocktails alongside delicious and iconic bites by Gilmore.

Queen of Cocktails, and recently-named most influential bar star in the world, Norwegian bartender Monica Berg will grace our presence to transform Shell House‘s stunning Clocktower Bar into a pop-up bar showcasing the skills she has honed at her very own Tayēr + Elementary, voted number two bar in the world.

A colourful feast for the senses, the Don Julio Food Truck Fiesta will assemble Australia’s most popular food trucks for a pop-up experience like no other at Hickson Road Reserve. A vibrant celebration of the enduringly-popular, always-tasty, never-out-of-style margarita, the vibrant fiesta will feature the World’s #23 Best Bar – Sydney’s Cantina OK! – who will serve up delicious margaritas alongside an all-star line-up of food trucks including Australia’s OG ’09 Beatbox Kitchen (Melbourne), Ricos Tacos (Sydney) and Taco Truck Dos (Melbourne), completed with a soundtrack by Sydney’s finest DJs.

In a world first, local hospitality king and waste-free crusader Matt Whiley (Re, South Eveleigh) is on a mission to transform sustainability in hospitality by leading a week-long circular economy of participating festival bars with The Barbershop, PS40, Old Mate’s Place and The Lobo using each other’s unwanted food & bar waste to create tasty, one-off cocktail additions. Whiley’s initiative kicks off Ketel One’s bartender-led program, ‘Garnished with Good’, inspiring and enabling the hospitality community to create positive impact in their local community.

Jonathan Morgan, World Class, Diageo Australia, said: “We are excited to be hosting the World Class Cocktail Festival in Sydney again this year and simultaneously hosting the Global World Class competition finals for the first time.  It is going to be a fantastic showcase of Australia’s incredibly unique food and drink scene on the global stage, supported by the attendance of over 300 international guests from over 50 countries including many global industry legends.  We believe it is another important moment of support for the hospitality industry and it will be incredible to see Sydney’s city full of life with its impressive cocktail culture booming.”

Festivities will flow into nearby hotspots including Surry Hills, Newtown and the CBD, where, among many others, the likes of Earl’s Juke Joint, Maybe Sammy, Double Deuce, The Rover, Frankie’s, Hickson House, Dean & Nancy’s, will offer a curation of unexpected experiences, as well as interstate favorites including Black Pearl, Melbourne, popping up to share their magic. More details to be announced weekly as the Festival approaches.

Celebrating not only the best cult food and beverage trends, the World Class Cocktail Festival will also host the global final of Diageo’s World Class Bartender of the Year with Nick Tesar from Bar Liberty in Melbourne representing Australia. Joining over 50 other global finalists in Sydney, Tesar will battle it out for the title of Diageo World Class Global Bartender of the Year, announced on the evening of Thursday, 15 September. Notably, Australia has always batted well above its weight in the competition, with Tim Philips-Johansson and Orlando Marzo both taking home the global title since the competition started, both of whom will be joining the extravaganza to judge at this year’s event.

The World Class Cocktail Festival program can be found at www.worldclasscocktailfestival.com from Friday, 12 August, with more activity to be announced weekly and secret events to pop up unexpectedly.

CHAPTER MUSIC ANNOUNCES 30TH BIRTHDAY PARTY FEATURING PERFORMANCES FROM NO ZU, LAURA JEAN, GREGOR, TEETHER & KUYA NEIL AND MORE

CHAPTERFEST 30
Presented by ALWAYS LIVE & Triple R

Saturday, November 5 | Northcote Theatre, Melbourne | Tickets

In June 1992, seventeen-year-old, self-described “pimple-faced nerd” Guy Blackman put out a compilation cassette of bands from his Perth hometown called Bright Lights, Small City. He had to use fake ID to attend the launch of the cassette at the Shenton Park Hotel.

Thirty years later, Chapter Music is still alive and kicking, having endured and blossomed across eras such as 90s lo-fi jangle, 2000s post-punk revival, 2010s lo-fi jangle revival and 2020s post-punk revival-revival. Chapter has now spent three decades as a tireless champion of Australian independent music and one of Australia’s longest running and most influential labels.

Guy moved to Melbourne in 1995, where Ben O’Connor joined the fold as Chapter work and life partner. There was a six-year period where records were pressed by hand by Guy at vinyl plant Corduroy Records, then a spell in Japan where Ben & Guy documented the amazing music they discovered there. Back in Melbourne since 2004, they have released earth-shaking artists like Beaches, Crayon Fields, Dick Diver, The Goon Sax, Gregor, Kath Bloom, Laura Jean, Pikelet, Sweet Whirl, Smokey, Teether & Kuya Neil, Twerps, and many more.

Watermelon Boy & BRYAN THE MENSAH Summon Summer With Their Fresh New Collab “No Problems”.

by the partae August 12, 2022
written by the partae

After two outstanding tracks on the 2021 album “101 Tropical Hits from Cosmic Space” Melbourne producer Watermelon Boy and Ghanian vocalist BRYAN THE MENSAH have teamed up again for summer prelude “No Problems”.

Since 2017 Watermelon Boy has made music to feel good too. A unique combination of sounds from the southern continents, sparkling with electronic glamour. Having combined influences, ranging from Future Bass to Reggaeton & Afrobeats, Watermelon Boy (Arlo Enemark) has established something unique in the Australian music scene. A sound that’s both vast and concise.  “I want to take people to those special memories they have of summer holidays, visiting the tropics and being warm and free.” says Arlo . “It’s dance music but it’s easy to relax to.”.

Very nearly crossing paths at the start of 2020 Watermelon Boy and BRYAN THE MENSAH have since worked on three tracks together. “I was in Ghana early 2020 and I sent Bryan a message asking to collaborate. It wasn’t until I was already on my way home that he got the message and we started working together. Since then it’s been so fun collaborating and Bryan’s gone from strength to strength as an artist, becoming one of Ghana’s favourite new talents.” Their first collaboration “Same Day, Same Thing” was released later in 2020 and features a guest verse from Melbourne pop mensch Freeds. Watermelon Boy’s sparkling groove and Bryan’s stellar tone were a match made in heaven.

Their latest single “No Problems” has a big, open beat with a bouncing bassline. BRYAN THE MENSAH’s topline sings sweetly about making time quality time in the sun and escaping the rat race in contrast to society’s expectation of constant hustle. Potentially their strongest work yet, the track is funky, hooky and fun.

THUNDER FOX return with charged up new track ‘HARD TIMES’

by the partae August 12, 2022
written by the partae

Having spent the first half of the year revelling in their return to live touring, Sydney’s Thunder Fox have kept the same energy they’ve brought to stages along the East Coast into new music.

The five-piece’s new single – ‘Hard Times’ – is a reflection of how much the Thunder Fox dynamic has bolstered since the release of their sophomore album Sanctuary in 2021. The group’s music, drenched in groove and funk, is elevated and as they continue to explore new influences and creative pathways, Thunder Fox enter a new era.

LISTEN/PLAY

Recorded at Yap Yap Studios in Coogee, Thunder Fox worked with Daniel Willington (Bootleg Rascal, Plini) and Andrew Edgson (Matt Corby, Hayden Calnin) on mixing and mastering respectively. The final cut of ‘Hard Times’ is lush and rich in its tone; Sam Dawes’ gorgeous lead vocal powers through, buoyed by irresistible rhythm and guitar.

Like Sanctuary before it, ‘Hard Times’ is a great example of how Thunder Fox thrive when in a realm of R&B, funk and pop sonics, adding their own charm to some punchy and hedonistic arrangements.

“‘Hard Times’ is a song of catharsis. I was feeling pretty down and out at the time, growing tired of the bad news, bad people and bad jobs sucking all the joy from our lives. The song tells the story of two people who are struggling with 21st century issues like the effects our media has on body image, the fear women can feel for their safety when walking home at night or working a shitty job and still not being able to pay for rent.

All of these issues I’ve experienced or know someone who has so they’re close to home but, there’s a twist. I wasn’t feeling the idea of writing a depressing track so I had to find a silver lining.

When I really thought about it, almost everyone has experienced one or more of these problems; I’m really just singing about average people like myself or my friends. The idea that we’re not alone in this was the inspiration that tied the track together and where I found the hook. There’s a pumping beat to boot so we’re all gonna listen to this track and get down to it thinking, “Oh well, I guess we’re just living through hard times”. (but also let’s take action on these issues after we dance away our frustration).”
THUNDER FOX

The music video for ‘Hard Times’ was conceptualised by Jesse Tachibana and executed by director Nick Allen. Working with choreographer Jess Ines, the clip matches the vibe of the song and engages in the fun side of Thunder Fox to great results.

“For the ‘Hard Times’ video I really wanted to lean into the synth driven, high energy vibe of the song by showcasing some incredible dancers in a neon lit studio. A lot of our previous videos have had a large focus on narrative and I thought it would be fun to depart from this approach a little and really focus on aesthetic, by carefully curating lighting scenes, costumes and movement. Huge shoutout to the incredible team that made it all happen, with special props to Nick Allen our Director and Jess Ines who came up with the choreography.”
JESSE TACHIBANA, THUNDER FOX

Thunder Fox have become one of Sydney’s favourite groups in recent years and as a live unit, the band has had their evolution play out gloriously on stages as varied as Caloundra Music Festival, Lost Paradise, Subsonic Music Festival and more.

Having supported the likes of Ocean Alley and Winston Surfshirt, as well as completing their own successful run of headline shows to a growing number of fierce fans, Thunder Fox are proving their staying power with each release.

PRAISE FOR THUNDER FOX

“It’s a kaleidoscopic, exhilarating piece of funky R&B-infused pop, and almost defies belief at how something so majestic can arrive when the world feels so dismal.”
Rolling Stone Australia (‘Head In The Clouds’, 2021)

“When you’ve got that bass, horns and the type of swagger only really reserved for those who can walk the walk as well as they can talk the talk, you’ve got a formula that can’t fail”
The AU Review

“The funky saucepan has boiled over with Thunder Fox’s horned up mixture going everywhere. It sounds like way more fun that that though.”
Triple J Unearthed, Dave Ruby Howe (‘Not For Sale’, 2021)

“…sultry sax-iness and funk-drenched…a groove-laden number that is set to get feet churning and hips swaying.”
Scenestr (‘Been Busy’, 2019)

“Their music is fun and bawdy, yet with a sexy sophistication that makes it incredibly appealing.”
Eclectic Music Lover

“…funk-drenched blast of horns, harmonies, humour and bucketloads of Thunder Fox swagger.”

Felicia Co. ‘Tainted Love’

by the partae August 11, 2022
written by the partae
Today, Montreal’s Felicia Co. will release her new single “Tainted Love” – a unique on the classic hit. WIth hints of Amy Winehouse, Dawn Pemberton and Dusty Springfield – Felicia Co takes the track to fresh heights, while (at the same time) exposing new and different emotions from the song.
With songwriting running through her family, Felicia has been immersed in music since her early childhood. She made her debut in show business with her participation in La Voix Junior at the age of 12 and was part of Marie-Mai’s team. Two years later, she auditioned and got selected to join the group Cool Kids and got the opportunity to sing all the songs for the animated series Snowsnaps which was broadcasted on Teletoon, Treehouse and Disneyland distributed in more than 21 countries.

Now, like all young adults, Felicia is trying to find her place and her way – and she finds that she best expresses herself through art. Whether she is painting or singing, Felicia is an artist in all aspects of her life.

RinRin releases “Guns N Grenades” ahead of Bigsound 2022 debut

by the partae August 11, 2022
written by the partae

Perth alternative metal rising star RinRin proves she’s one to watch with explosive new single “Guns and Grenades“. Releasing in time for her upcoming showcase at Bigsound 2022, the dystopian single is just the beginning for what’s in store for RinRin.

“Guns and Grenades” is about doing something you don’t want to but are forced to out of obligation, as is so often the case in war. “The song is not about taking sides or the political aspect of the war,” explains RinRin. “It’s for the people who don’t have any choice and are being used by politics: the fathers and brothers who should be with their families but have to stay to defend their country; Lovers who belong to opposing sides but have to fight each other because they have a duty to.”

With a fierce passion and dedication to mastering her craft, RinRin has soared to great heights off the back of her intricate guitar work and impressive songwriting abilities, and has already been snapped up by management company Riverman (Placebo, Deaf Havana) and is represented by Destroy All Lines in Australia/New Zealand and Paradigm in Europe.

RinRin has been invited to showcase her captivating live show at Bigsound 2022 in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley in early September where she’ll perform at both Ric’s Backyard on Tuesday September 6 and Woolly Mammoth on Wednesday September 7. RinRin joins the line up alongside fellow alternative kings and queens in Future Static, The Last Martyr, To Octavia, The Atomic Beau Project, The Rions, Waxflower, Wildheart and many more.

They say that overnight success takes 10 years but RinRin burst fully formed onto the scene in summer 2020 with her debut single “The Game“. 20 year old Qarin (RinRin) Hipe began her musical career at the age of 13 playing guitar in her father’s cover band. RinRin continued to build her stage presence in various acts before finally striding out with her own material.

“Seek the Truth” dropped in January 2021 and made its way into the Top 10 AMRAP Metro Charts and the triple j Unearthed Metal Charts. Both singles brought international attention to RinRin and by summer 2021, she had the support of Riverman and Paradigm.

“Hellfire” stormed in as the first single from RinRin’s debut EP, ‘Episode 1‘, which was released in September 2021 alongside a stunning video of RinRin’s vision of the dystopian storyline that weaves throughout her music. “Shadows” became a highlight from the extended play and was added to the Spotify editorial playlist, Rock Out. RinRin’s Spotify streams now sit at a comfortable quarter of a million after just two years since inception.

With an undeniable sense of direction, RinRin is ready to play her powerful brand of pop punk wherever it will take her.

“Guns And Grenades” is available and streaming everywhere now.

Santigold releases new single & video short ‘Shake’

SANTIGOLD

RELEASES NEW SINGLE & VIDEO SHORT
‘SHAKE‘

NEW ALBUM SPIRITUALS
OUT SEPTEMBER 9 ON LITTLE JERK RECORDS

Portrait credit: Frank Ockenfels
Santigold has shared the dynamic new single ‘Shake‘ from her fourth album Spirituals, due out September 9 via Little Jerk Records. Produced by SBTRKT, this song is a celebration of human resilience.

Santi shares, “‘Shake’ is one of those songs that was just floating around me for the taking. What I mean is that there are some songs that basically write themselves, and all you have to do as the artist is be open enough to reach out and pull it in and say thank you. When that happens I am always so grateful because it’s like the universe just handed me a gem. I sit down to write and as soon as I open my mouth the song just pours out. In this instance SBTRKT had sent me several tracks he’d been working on, and this one stood out because it sounded so different from anything I’d ever heard from him, and also so unlike anything I had ever done before. I literally stepped in front of the mic, and opened my mouth and said “ooh – hoo, shake, shake shake!”, and the whole rest of the melody poured out from there. And then when I sat down to finish the lyrics, they came just as quick. I can’t say this song is about one thing, as much as it’s about a feeling. It’s about flow, about riding the ebb and flows of life, it’s about rolling with it, moving through it, letting it all move through you. And it’s about the feeling in that moment when you feel life flowing through you, the rapture of it all. It’s about our resilience as humans, and our ability to keep rising back up in the face of hardship and moving forward.”

The accompanying video for ‘Shake’ is one of Santigold’s most daring visual statements. It is a music video that is also a performance art piece. She says, “For this piece, I was inspired by the images of the civil rights protesters being pounded with high-pressure water hoses, turned on them by the authorities, during their peaceful protests. The strength and fortitude that it took for them, many just teenagers and young adults, to endure what they did and keep going, is monumental. This video is an homage to them, in which I try to power through singing this song while enduring the pain of a high-pressure water hose.”

‘Shake’ follows the release of ‘High Priestess‘, ‘Nothing‘ and ‘Ain’t Ready‘ from Spirituals. A fiercely innovative artist always looking to pioneer her own path, Spirituals is the first Santigold album released on her own label Little Jerk Records and it will be distributed by Secretly Distribution. The album captures the feeling of surviving in the modern world while elevating yourself to new places. It was mostly recorded during the 2020 lockdown and features producers and contributors: Rostam, Boys Noize, Dre Skull, P2J, Nick Zinner, SBTRKT, JakeOne, Illangelo, Doc McKinney, Psymun, Ricky Blaze, Lido, Ray Brady, and Ryan Olson.

Since her last full-length release, Santigold has also engaged new ways to express and release her ideas, allowing her greater range to be even truer to her creative intentions on her own terms. She created Spirituals as a multisensory experience that includes not only the music and video vignettes, but new ways of sharing her visual art, forthcoming small-batch natural skincare products, and a tea collection; the products bearing the same brand name, Spirituals. She will also be releasing a new podcast in which she interviews other artists and visionaries around some of the same themes explored in her music. Santigold has other literary, film and product lines in the works as well. “I want to continue branching out into all forms of art,” she says. “And I’m really excited to let my music take me to new places.”

While taking yourself to new places is core to Santigold’s outlook at this point in her impressive career, she has always been an artist who has charted new paths in the world of pop music and beyond, breaking down barriers of genre along the way, further cementing her as an essential artist when surveying the last two decades of popular culture at large.

CARAVÃNA SUN performing at inaugural Summer Escape Festival, shows in Sydney and Melbourne

by the partae August 11, 2022
written by the partae

Photo Credit: Chloe Hutchison  – Havana Productions

Fresh from their tour dates in WA, QLD and an explosive performance at this year’s Byron Bay Blues Festival, Sydney/Byron Bay collective CARAVÃNA SUN are thrilled to announce they will be headlining their own curated all-ages Summer Escape Festival on Saturday, September 3. They’ve also added a Melbourne show at Howler on Saturday, September 10 before rounding off their tour in Sydney at The Factory Theatre on August 27.

CARAVÃNA SUN will be playing tracks from their newly released 10 track album ‘Burning Palms’, which was written and recorded all within the past 2 years; it’s an album that sees the band return to their roots and find appreciation in nature as it was recorded in a secluded space deep in the heart of the Blue Mountains, NSW. Produced by CARAVÃNA SUN, and mixed by Andy Lawson (Death By Denim, Eskimo Jo, End of Fashion, Little Birdy) at Debaser Studio, Perth with additional mixing and engineered by Ian Pritchett.

LISTEN TO ALBUM

CARAVÃNA SUN have always been known for the raw energy of their live shows. From the huge crowd singalongs to the quiet, soulful heart moments, and sun-drenched reggae to sweeping synth indie groove, they always keep their focus on the connection to their audience.

“Our faith in live music and artists drove us to putting on Summer Escape Fest. Over the past 2 years, we felt the magnitude of what people being together, singing and dancing really means to us. We knew we had to create something aside from our band that would represent and authentically serve the communities that have truly been the lifeblood of Caravãna Sun for over 10 years. We’ve put together our favourite bands on one stage to truly celebrate live music to an all ages crowd. Summer Escape fest truly embodies that inspiring awe that leaves all music loving Australians proud to come together and celebrate, with some big euphoric sing-alongs and infectious dance moves.”

Ant Beard, CARAVÃNA SUN

Since 2011 up until early 2020, CARAVÃNA SUN have toured Europe playing over 300 shows/festivals/open airs in Europe/UK. Highlights include Boardmasters (UK), Headlining Madness (NL), Summer in the city (Germany), Boomtown (UK), Reggae Sun Ska (France) to name a few. They have toured with iconic artists Madness, UB40, The Cat Empire & Fat Freddys Drop and have built up quite the reputation beyond the sunny shores of Australia.

PRAISE FOR CARAVÃNA SUN

“The Sydneysiders’ third album is a sonic treat. With a solid backbone of rhythm and the loose tag of surf rock, their songs contort themselves in a variety of styles.”

Sydney Morning Herald

“Burning Palms is rich in indie-pop sounds that capture CARAVÃNA SUN’s dynamic range as musicians. With a range of higher-energy rock groovers, to more laid back pop ballads, the collective craft a soundscape of intricate beats, moving bass lines, grounding keys, airey synths, and epic guitars to back catchy vocal hooks with comforting harmonies.”

Pilerats

“Charlie’, the first single of the year for Caravãna Sun, sees the typically ebullient band get vulnerable, if still uplifting.”

Music Feeds

“Caravana Sun are at their buoyant best on this new jam. It’s vibrant and full of hooks and charm and I’m going in again for sure.”

THE HOME OF MEXICAN MAGIC ON AUSTRALIAN SOIL

by the partae August 11, 2022
written by the partae

Sparked by a desire to plate up mouth-watering Mexican like no other, leading culinary institution,  Fonda, was born from humble beginnings.

Over a decade ago, Tim McDonald and Dave Youl were on a mission to satisfy their cravings for  fresh, flavour-packed Mexican food in a venue that felt like home. When they noticed a gap in the  Australian market, a light-bulb moment followed. The pair set off on a culinary expedition across  Mexico, scouting the best bites and most welcoming hangouts in the country. Returning inspired,  with full bellies and big dreams, the duo dived into their restaurant venture. Fonda was born.

Transporting the heart and soul of Mexico to Australian shores, Fonda burst onto the scene in 2010  with a flagship in Swan Street, Richmond. The monumental launch attracted hour-long queues and  earned the brand a cult following. Fonda has since become synonymous with perfected Mexican  street food, with standouts including its legendary tacos and moreish margaritas.

Following enormous consumer demand, nine restaurants have opened across Sydney and  Melbourne. Locations include Richmond, Windsor, Hawthorn, Knox, Chadstone, Flinders Lane,  Collingwood, Surry Hills and Bondi, and for Fonda fans with an appetite for more – watch this space!

No matter which restaurant diners head to, they can expect Fonda’s signature relaxed atmosphere, welcoming hospitality, and playful décor popping with bright injections of colour. In Mexico, a ‘fonda’ is a home that serves the community delicious and simple food that has been lovingly

prepared. Inspired by this concept, Fonda’s menu encourages guests to take a memorable culinary  journey together, fuelled with high-quality, fresh, Australian produce.

Hungry diners’ only task is to pick from the extensive list of fan favourites found on the eat-in and  takeaway menus. The coveted offering includes market-fresh fish tacos, herbed mushroom quesadillas, slow-cooked beef brisket burritos, grilled corn, and nachos with house-made guacamole and pico de gallo, to name a few.

A show-stopping cocktail list transports diners to a beach side Mexican bar, where thirsts can be quenched by an   impressive range of margaritas featuring classic, chilli   mango and watermelon & lime, alongside a selection of   cerveza, cider, local vino and non-alcoholic beverages.  Inside the kitchen, Tim and Dave have nurtured the  hospitality teams like their own family, building a positive  and engaging culture that glows from the inside out.  What sets Fonda apart from the competition extends far  beyond the menu. The commitment to its guests and dedication to continually inspiring and developing its  team is what delivers the unique experience diners know  and love.

As the saying goes, “mi casa, su casa”, so head to a Fonda near you to experience the Mexican  magic.
