“In honour of David’s 75th birthday and the 50th anniversary of Ziggy Stardust, we are excited to sponsor the Bowie Ball and place a spotlight on how David was such a visionary in furthering music and fan engagement via technology,” says Thom Kidrin, CEO of World’s Inc. and Bowie World co-creator. “In this milestone year we will introduce initiatives to allow fans to utilise today’s advanced technology (which David would certainly be embracing) to experience and capture David’s excitement and foresight, just as he was helping to shape the future of the music and entertainment industry over 20 years ago.”
Sensitively stewarded by the partnership of Liverpool’s Sound City annual music festival and the passion behind the best-selling David Bowie Glamour fanzine, hand-picked musical accompaniments are also confirmed, first with internationally-touring, career-spanning, six-strong tribute experience, Rebel Heroes. Sliding in alongside the live and loud music are party-starting specialist DJs TheMenWhoFell2Earth and Sonic Yootha, both digging deep into the much-missed musical hero’s back-catalogue, the hits of associated artists and tasty, Bowie-related tangents to tempt ticket-holders onto the dancefloor.
Amongst the most striking additions to the convention line-up away from the glitter of the ballroom is Italian ceramic artist Maria Primolan and her sculptures of Bowie’s instantly-recognisable likenesses during distinct periods of his shape-shifting career. Using a breadth of sculptural and ceramic-firing methods, Primolan’s practice has been devoted to Bowie’s image. Primolan will visit Liverpool to show her latest work, from delicately coloured panels detailing Bowie’s powder-faced, Ashes to Ashes clown persona to 3D busts of the head-of-curls and beret-clad The Man Who Sold The World-era. Also exhibiting will be painter Shaun Lowndes whose vivid, comic-book surrealism has earned critical and public acclaim.
Amongst those who knew David Bowie, few knew him on as many levels as drummer John Cambridge, whose attendance at the convention has been confirmed. Whilst being on hand at key life events, including Bowie passing his driving test, it was also on the musical front, introducing Bowie to Spiders From Mars guitar legend Mick Ronson and drumming on 1969’s Space Oddity album, that Cambridge made huge contributions. He visits Liverpool amongst an enviable line-up of authors after publishing his own autobiography, Bowie, Cambo and All The Hype.
Many of the most influential image-makers from throughout Bowie’s career will be present, in person or through their iconic images, over the weekend. Just added is Tim Bret-Day, whose elaborate work across fashion and music included the artwork and promotional imagery for Bowie’s 1999 album …hours. The range of shots taken included an inner-sleeve shot that required a dummy of Bowie himself to be produced before being set alight. Bret-Day will arrive with limited edition prints and answers to fans’ questions.
After it was announced last year that Liverpool, UK would be host to the first globally-significant fan convention of its kind, the high-profile names first revealed to be in attendance included guitarist, Carlos Alomar and his wife, singer with both Bowie and Chic, Robin Clark; bassist, Gail Ann Dorsey and the last surviving Spider From Mars, drummer Woody Woodmansey. Having collaborated on Bowie’s final album, Blackstar, saxophonist Donny McCaslin attends with special perspectives on the icon’s creative drive as time appeared to be running out.
Represented amongst the great Bowie image makers is Brian Duffy of the Aladdin Sane lightning flash fame, via The Duffy Archive. As Bowie’s official photographer on his 1983 Serious Moonlight world tour, just one of his official engagements with the artist and friend, Denis O’Regan appears in Liverpool having witnessed many sides of the man at work and play. Philippe Auliac’s 30-plus year professional and personal relationship with Bowie from behind-the-lens, starting in 1976, will also be represented by Auliac in-person and numerous famous and rarely-seen examples of his work.
Working with Bowie from 2002’s Heathen album, through the closely-guarded, surprise release of 2013’s The Next Day and onto the intricately packaged final album Blackstar in 2016, graphic designer Jonathan Barnbrook will talk about what it took to make Bowie’s visual ideas a reality. Amongst the influential authors to have added their words to exploring the enigma, author of The Complete David Bowie, Nicholas Pegg and writer of Any Day Now: David Bowie The London Years (1947-1974) Kevin Cann are on hand to take fans into the depths of the artist’s professional life over half a century. Cann also worked as a creative assistant on Bowie’s first solo art exhibition, held in Cork Street, London in 1995.
The David Bowie World Fan Convention brings David Bowie’s story back to Liverpool, a city which the artist played numerous times at different stages of his career, starting on Sat 8 April 1967 with The Riot Squad, performing on board the famous Royal Iris, a ferry that ran regular music cruises up the River Mersey. Bowie’s last appearance in Liverpool was on Sat 2 Aug 1997, with the arena-filling icon performing for a relatively intimate crowd of 2,000 people at the Royal Court Theatre.

Through their upcoming debut album SongBook, the band pulls together each incremental breakthrough of their career thus far, including key releases from their first two EPs, ‘Where’s My Brain???‘, ‘Tangerine‘ and ‘Cheesy Love Song‘, alongside new tracks. Through ‘Fuzz Jam‘, The Lazy Eyes reached a fever pitch, breaking triple j as the station’s #1 Most Played Song upon release. Mainstream praise has continued to follow The Lazy Eyes every step, from Lauren Laverne as the Spotlight Artist on 6 Music and #24 on the Shazam charts, playlisting on BBC 6 Music‘s A List and continued acclaim from NME, SPIN, Face Melts, KCRW, Flood, Unearthed, RAGE, 2SER amongst many others globally.
Surveying the first years of The Lazy Eyes‘ existence as a band, SongBook emits youthful, creative exuberance, the sound of a band revelling in their own indulgences, influences and self-discovery, refracting formative touchstones through a contemporary lens in a process of coming into their own. The Lazy Eyes debut is a world unto itself, where swirling, constantly mutating tonal and textural choices open up rich, previously unexplored corners. Like every good fantasy world, it abides by its own logic – suddenly you’re in a garden in full blossom, and you didn’t even notice; you’ve walked a mile without taking a single step and earworms zip zorp past. Step inside, but be warned: Once you’re in The Lazy Eyes‘ world, you might not want to leave any time soon.

In anticipation of its eighth festival instalment in 2022, Meadow is thrilled to welcome in a new release courtesy of 2022 performing artists Teether and Don Glori, titled ‘Dizzy’. Out just in time for the festival gates to open this afternoon, the single is a cruisey hip hop number that is bound to make a last minute appearance on many a road trip playlist as punters make the scenic trip down to The Otways for Meadow 8.
Carefully considered compositions that facilitate heavy doses of improvisation, Don Glori’s music reflects a deep fascination in jazz, house and Brazilian music, tied together by his inimitable spirit and dedication to making it groove. Teaming up with rapper and avid collaborator, Teether—known for his recent future-focussed project with Kuya Neil, performing in duo form at Meadow this year—‘Dizzy’ is testament to the community spirit that Meadow embodies, and a showcase of the creativity and innovation of Australia’s tight knit music scene.
Released through Chapter Music, the self-produced collaboration was brought to life at Box Hill Institute’s Sing Sing East studios with engineer Tom Iansek (Big Scary, #1 Dads, No Mono), mixed by Lewis Moody and mastered by Corey Kikos.
Meadow prides itself on its inward-looking, outward-thinking localised offerings, with everything from the music, the food and drink stalls, film screenings, tree-planting program and volunteers all hand picked and carefully curated to support and celebrate Australian artists, voices, initiatives and businesses. Do not miss your chance to catch these two powerhouse acts performing live from the Bambra Bowl from Friday 25 – Sunday 27 March alongside Meadow headliners Methyl Ethel, Tropical Fuck Storm, Camp Cope and a stacked all-Australian bill. Having released four energetic and high-quality albums in the last 5 years, the tenacity itself of Easy Browns is something to behold. Always self-managed and wrapped to play shows anywhere from Old Bar in Naarm/Melnbourne to Falls Festival Marion Bay and Gizzfest, Easy Browns have honed their skills since 2016, culminating in one of the tightest live sets on offer. The formidable 4-piece have pushed the boundaries of rock music and carved their own path, with band leader Zak Brown at the center of it all, hosting festivals, organizing tours and managing the band and creating a record label Critter Records to help friends get their music out there. Easy Browns are happy to ‘call it a days work’ with one last tour including dates in VIC and TAS and culminating at Northcote Social Club on Thursday 14th April, which will be their final ever show.
Tour dates:
Forward-thinking producer PACES and vocal talent CLOE TERARE united across the QLD/NSW border and despite the pestilence, disasters and major upheavals that they’ve been through this project has found its place and time. The merging of their unique talents has made for something unpredictably compelling.
Dayliites is a gentle pop/electronic outfit with beautiful songwriting and world class production/ There’s a disparate mix of naivety, cynicism, expertise and optimism living inside Dayliites that makes the music sound both precise and effortless. The lo-fi & bedroom elements, expertly produced, have a slacker energy that’s contrary to the sweet, delicate, intricate & honest moments in both Cloe’s performances & Paces’ production.
There are some clear influences here; from Paces’ long standing fandom of Charlie XCX too superstars Billie Ellish & Doja Cat and a hit of Australia’s own Mallrat. Yet Dayliites feels unique in their song structure. They way the choruses sneak up on you, the meditative energy, the interplay of nylon string guitar and muted drums. Uniting the best elements of lofi hip-hop and modern pop, the duo’s debut mixtape ‘Ghosts’ is a potent display of their singularly sweet sound and another great showing from Paces’ own Off leash Records.

For Jitwam, his career in music has always felt predestined. The first record he bought – a $2 blank white-label vinyl – turned out to be a Moodymann track, a discovery he made around the same time he found out his music would be featured on Moodymann’s DJ Kicks compilation. Finding success through two LPs, ‘ज़ितम सिहँ’ and Honeycomb, and acclaimed tracks including ‘WhereYouGonnaGo’ and ‘busstop’ Jitwam has become a mainstay of the underground, having guested on NTS, WorldWide FM, BBC6 Music amongst others. He has also remixed Laraaji, collaborated with Folamour – whose Boiler Room has had nearly a million views – as well as Cosmo’s Midnight on Defected Records, alongside having a track on the renowned compilation ‘Fabric Presents… Maribou State’. Incorporating sounds from across the world, Jitwam marries incisive political commentary with deep introspection to create work that is, at once, wrenchingly intimate and sweetly playful.
‘Brooklyn Ballers‘ by Jitwam is out now via Roya, buy/stream here.

Where are you currently based?
We’re all based in Sydney at the moment – a bit spread out across the city.
What’s been happening recently?
After spending the last two years locked inside, gigs getting cancelled etc. we’ve finally just been able to play our first east-coast Australian tour. A lot of the last few months has been us preparing for that whilst working on new music in between. Everything is starting to feel real again and it’s amazing to actually see a physical representation of our growth over the last few years.
You’re playing Mini-Vanfest on April 9 in Forbes, NSW, what do you most enjoy about playing festivals?
We’ve actually never played a festival before, this will be our first and we’re so pumped. Having been festival attendees before, it’s really exciting to be on the other side of that.
What do you have in store for this show?
We’ve put a set together of a lot of our released material as well as some unreleased music and we are just going to make it as explosive as it can be.
Who are you looking forward to seeing play at Mini-Vanfest?
I think we’re all pretty keen to see Holy Holy but we’re gonna try catch the lot of it cause its just such a sick little lineup! Cloe Terare was one of our supports in the first leg of our east-coast tour so we’re heaps keen to see her again and on a much bigger stage!
Please tell us about any new music that you have on the way:
We’ve been building a catalogue of some really great material over the last few months. There’s a plan in stone and we’re working on something really special. Unfortunately we’re not allowed to say when but you’ll know when it’s all going down.
Who are you listening to at the moment?
It’s really all over the place, but at the moment id say as a collective, we’ve been really inspired by a band from the states called MUNA, they write great songs and the production is just next level.
What do you like to do away from music?
We’re all pretty different when it comes to things like that – Ellis loves to surf; Nico is a big fan of photography and videography; & Max kind of just lives and breathes in music whether it’s listening or playing.
What else do you have planned for 2022?
Obviously the music plans are moving ahead but it’s likely we’ll be doing another tour towards the middle/end of the year. Thats all we can really make public right now.
Favourite food and place to hang out?
El Camino in Manly has a deal on Wednesdays where you can buy 20 chicken wings for 20c each as long as you buy a drink. It’s kind of become a ritual that every now and then we will head out there and demolish as many wings as we can while we drown in frozen margaritas.

Melbourne-based, Perth singer-songwriter Harper Bloom has today shared an affecting new single Red Rocket, a bright and empathetic tune that delves into dealing with loss in a positive way – by looking back on fond memories. Released today, the charismatic song is accompanied by a charming music video that reflects on the simple things in life, set in country Victoria.
If Courtney Barnett had written a song for the Juno soundtrack, this would be it. Red Rocket is a positive, upbeat indie-folk track that ironically stems from melancholy, about finding happiness after losing someone close to you. The simple production from celebrated producers Steve Schram and David Quested (Paul Kelly, San Cisco, Jagua Jonze) and mastered by Grammy award nominee Joe Carra (The Teskey Brothers), delivers big, with ukulele and piano blending perfectly to allow the song room to grow and flourish, and the artist’s signature Aussie drawl adding an extra layer of charm. Featuring minimal percussion and a horns section that builds to an outstanding outro, Harper Bloom proves the theory that more often than not, less really is more. Speaking on the inspiration for the track, the young artist says, “A Red Rocket is a symbol of an indent someone has left in your life that you hold onto for comfort. This song navigates grief but it’s also a celebration of how lucky we are to have had a chance to know someone so special – no matter how brief that encounter may be.”
The video for Red Rocket is transportive as it takes the viewer on a journey into the familiar and humble moments that make us who we are, whilst lyrics of a life well lived reinforce the core of the song – to reflect and reminisce positively. Directed by Matt and Lawrence from LP Creative (Maddy Jane), the video opens with beautiful vistas of the Australian country, taking the viewer to rural Victoria in a clever and delightfully nostalgic yet contemporary melange of Super 8 and digital videography. “We wanted the music video to reflect the overall mood of the song, rather than tell a narrative-based story.” Harper Bloom explains of the video, “our idea was to head to a beautiful quiet country town and shoot little everyday moments out in the town that you don’t really think about at the time, but are the special moments we all live for. Like a pleasant little encounter with a stranger that you’ll never meet again.”
Harper Bloom is set for a big 2022 with a new sophomore EP and plenty of shows on the cards, Red Rocket may be the first thing we hear from this talented singer-songwriter this year, but certainly won’t be the last!
Red Rocket is out today, March 24.

Tantalon is the electronic music persona of Australian-based artist, Dom Kukla. Born in the Hunter Valley Region, NSW, Tantalon comes into the world. This musical journey began in the early 00’s when Dom began as a DJ spending his time amongst the Brisbane nightlife and all the interesting things it had to offer. Years later, after a brief stint in Sydney, Tantalon was born. After the release of his debut single “Phaze” last October, Tantalon delivers a cracking tune once again with the release of “Supernova“!
“Supernova” was all entirely self produced and mixed from Tantalon’s home studio with mastering for the track later provided by “Jack the Bear” and Tony Mantz. “Supernova” sees Tantalon take a much slower and moodier approach in comparison to “Phaze”, the track provides an energy to the listener that could be described as transcending.
Tantalon describes the inspiration behind crafting “Supernova” as, “It was written shortly after returning home and setting up a new studio space in 2020. The sense of freedom to create in a rapidly changing world at a time when things slowed down helped to shape this one.”
Inspired by the natural world, freedom of expression, all things dance and electronic, but most importantly the good times and freedoms of the early yesteryears, Tantalon has a unique way of telling his story through music. With an eclectic ear for anything electronic, expect a diverse range of music. Vocal laced broken beat, energetic, organic raw cuts and left field recordings full of colour and emotion. All cooked up in unique fashion.
2021 will see Tantalon releasing a lot of new original material on his own imprint, ‘Full Circle,’ as well as independently.

Emerging with wicked hooks and a vocal presence that is impossible to ignore, Canberra R&B artist Kirrah Amosa is an absolute breath of fresh air.
With her new single ‘Possessive’, Kirrah brings the type of energy R&B fans have been riding hard for within the genre in recent years: confident and passionate, with a unique sense of edgy cool threaded throughout.
It’s not the first time Kirrah has stepped into the spotlight with her music and art, though as this year rolls out, hers is a voice not quick to be forgotten.
‘Possessive’ has Kirrah on a sonic and vibey wave that would make the likes of SZA and Kehlani fans feel right at home. Late night beats and rhythms are a strong foundation for Kirrah’s hypnotic R&B vocals as they weave around a narrative that is pretty straight forward: ‘a loving reminder’, as Kirrah says, to ‘keep your hands and eyes on your side of the table’.
There is a playful energy within the song that keeps Kirrah’s self-awareness in check. On this record she acknowledges the darker side of herself, but also that through dark times, she has emerged into a healthier space where she is at peace with her being.
“2020/2021 bestowed on me the best of the worst; crushed my dreams, dissolved years of hard work, ended my relationship, introduced me to my new bestie, Anxiety, and helped me understand that the niggling feeling in the back of my head wasn’t motivation to be healthier – it was body dysmorphia.
2022 is officially the new year of birth as I have completely shed all remnants of the shame and doubt that fuelled my being and have fully embraced my good and semi-toxic traits e.g., ‘Possessive’. Accepting this darker side of me was nothing short of absolute liberation, so if you’re anything like me, I offer you this.
Instead of entering the always-vicious screening cycle with a new potential partner, feel free to play them ‘Possessive’. Let ‘em know what to expect, and if they get surprised by your ‘passion’ (or emotion-filled mood swings), that’s on them.”
KIRRAH AMOSA
KIRRAH AMOSA
2022 will see Kirrah unveil more new music than ever before; a treat for fans around the country who have been following her journey as not just a talented singer, but an accomplished stage performer as well.
Kirrah’s versatility as a performer has led to invaluable touring experiences supporting the likes of Rita Ora, Jess Glynne and as part of the Ministry of Sound Australian Tour with Sam Sparro, Crystal Waters and Alison Limerick, but also as part of the original cast of HAMILTON Australia.
A proud Australian/Samoan woman, Kirrah’s love for music and the craft of expression through song runs in her blood and since a young age, she has been driven to connect with audiences through her music.
‘Possessive’ is out now.
