Today Body Type drop their first new music in three years, ‘Sex & Rage‘ with the reveal of their debut album, Everything Is Dangerous But Nothing’s Surprising, out May 20 via Poison City Records. LISTEN + WATCH ‘SEX & RAGE’ HERE.
Rife with frisky guitars and skittish percussion that soars into the chorus, ‘Sex & Rage‘ is a corrosive display of extremes. The doggerel of desire, angst, and euphoria set alight with a rousing plea for exuberance and exhilaration in the face of banality and boredom. Moulding the feel-good indie prowess that saw the band fast rise, ‘Sex & Rage‘ ushers in a new era of Body Type. A ragged rock-punk hybrid, savagely unapologetic in intent and delivery.
Speaking to the release, vocalist Sophie shares “‘Sex & Rage’ is a reflection on finding passion amidst feverish banality. When you are uninspired, when you feel sad that the general public would rather look at their phone screens than what’s hanging on the walls of the Louvre; when lovers leave you just like they always do and everything feels like a cliché – remember the feelings that set you aflame, and the things that make those feelings happen. For me, it’s Body Type and cryptic crosswords.”
Named after and dedicated to writer Eve Babitz‘s cult novel, ‘Sex & Rage‘ is a culmination of the world that Body Type will birth on Everything Is Dangerous But Nothing’s Surprising. In the wake of back-to-back tours and releases, Sophie McComish, Annabel Blackman, Cecil Coleman, and Georgia Wilkinson-Derums regrouped in early 2020, to record their debut album eight days – shortly before they would become separated by the pandemic.
With the release Body Type reconvene their collaborative relationship with music video director Madeline Purdy. Speaking to the visual elements, she reveals “We wanted to show an overabundance of unorthodox, freakish human beauty, but have it stop before total chaos. The strict confines of an audition room setting tinged every character with an inherent yearning to be liked by their audience. The clip had to show that sex and rage are inherent in every human being, but create different characters of us all. Despite that, we’re all on the same stage, singing the same song.”
Like Babitz’s prose, the album is exultant, effusive, playful, cutting, and maybe most significantly, incandescent in its fury. It’s an album all about yanking back control, embracing abandon and purging despair, told through the grizzly margins of rock and punk. Recorded and mastered by Jonathan Boulet, and entirely self-funded, the album sounds joyfully anarchic, bursting with life and autonomy.
Andrew Hayden, the owner of record store and label Poison City Records, is thrilled to announce the news of the band’s signing. He shares, “We fell in love with Body Type after coming across their early EPs a while back – the tracks ’Stingray’ and ‘Palms’ felt especially infectious and exciting, so obviously we’re delighted to be working with Body Type on their debut album this year! Body Type’s attitude and approach to the wide world of independent music is a great fit for Poison City and musically we hear a magical blend of soulful indie-rock and fierce angular-pop that feels urgent and relevant to these modern times.”
Since first forming in 2016, Body Type have shared acclaimed EPs, EP1 and EP2 to global fever and critical acclaim from DIY, NME, Dork, The Line Of Best Fit, The FADER, Stereogum, KEXP, Apple Music’s Matt Wilkinson, BBC Radio 1’s Jack Saunders, triple j’s Declan Byrne and many more. In between support stages with Fontaines D.C., Big Thief, Cate Le Bon, POND, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Frankie Cosmos, Rolling Blackouts Coast Fever and more, the group have also performed across SXSW, The Great Escape, and headline tours in the US and UK, including a recorded session at the BBC‘s Maida Vale studios.

Lucky NFT has today announced the launch of NFT Melbourne, an interactive event showcasing the boundless possibilities in the new world of NFTs, and what they can do for the arts, music, events, and brands. The event isset to be held at the classic 170 Russell venue in Melbourne on 23 February with tickets on sale now at www.moshtix.com.au
The event will feature a variety of guest speakers and tastemakers from different walks of the creative and digital worlds who will share their insights into the exciting new technology of NFTs.
The guest speakers include Matty A.K.A DCLBlogger, a helmsman of the NFT storm and founder of event partner “The Metakey”, Geoff Measley, a marketing and digital specialist helping to pioneer the future of NFTs, Greg Oakford, a co-founder of NFT Fest Australia, Danielle Weber, an internationally recognised and diverse Australian artist, along with Mariella Mejia, CMO of Meadow Labs.
NFT Melbourne comes shortly after Lucky NFT’s successful collaboration with Tennis Australia to create a virtual and internationally accessible AO Metaverse closing party in a world-first. The event included a headline performance from the iconic international DJ, Steve Aoki and special guest performances from the Aussie Hip-Hop legend Masked Wolf and #1 female DJ, Tigerlily.
Ridley Plummer, guest speaker and Tennis Australia NFT & Metaverse Project Manager will showcase how the collaboration with these creators came to life, offering invaluable insight to corporate brands and entrepreneurs looking to expand into the new and limitless NFT industry after his successful venture into the Metaverse with Lucky NFT, Run It Wild and Vegas City.
“NFT Melbourne is a place where people can learn about a world where the physical and the digital co-exist for a greater human connection. We will be showcasing the possibilities that NFTs can bring to various industries and businesses that want to build a better connection with their audience.
We will have Australian artists and entertainers on display and performing in both digital and physical format as the event which will also be streamed live in the metaverse,” said Lucky NFT Co Founder, Theo Kanellopoulos.
The evening will feature a special guest performance from global hit maker, Masked Wolf. Tickets are on sale now at www.moshtix.com.au
What is your name and role within NFT Melbourne:
Theo Kanellopoulos, Co-Founder
For those that are new to this concept, please tell us what NFT is all about:
NFT STANDS FOR NON-FUNGIBLE-TOKEN, AND IN ITS MOST BASIC FORM IS DIGITAL PROOF OF OWNERSHIP THAT IS IRREFUTABLE. THE PROOF OF OWNERSHIP AND ITS HISTORY LIVE ON A PUBLIC LEDGER CALLED A BLOCKCHAIN, WHERE IT CANNOT BE ALTERED, AND ANYONE CAN VIEW IT.
NFT Melbourne will be launching on February 23 at 170 Russell in Melbourne CBD, what can people expect from the event?
We have created NFT MELBOURNE as a way for our city to make its mark as a serious player in the global NFT space and provide a place for everyone to learn, network and lift each other up. The event will be a safe space for people to come and learn about NFTs if they are starting on their journey or come and listen to thought leadership if they are further advanced. We will have many activations that will exhibit digital and physical art as well as areas for people to network with others who are like minded and eager to learn more plus a very special guest live performance too.
Please tell us about the collaboration with Tennis Australia which included Steve Aoki, Masked Wolf and Tigerlily:
We had been in discussion with Ridley Plummer at Tennis Australia about presenting at NFT Melbourne and he invited some of the Lucky Ent. artists to perform in the metaverse for the closing party. We loved the idea as a way to collaborate with those in the space and the artists jumped right on it too. We were lucky enough to secure international DJ Steve Aoki as well as Masked Wolf and Tigerlily.
Who will be guest speaking and what topics will be covered?
We have about a dozen speakers covering topics such as:
Fireside chat – How Web3 is impacting events and experiences. AO Art Ball use case – Matty AKA DCLBlogger, Ridley Plummer, Louie (Run it wild)
Panel – Marketing in Web3 – Geoff Measey and Greg Oakford
Panel – Aussie project spotlight
Panel – Navigating NFTs as a creative – Danielle Weber who is an exceptional artist
What do you think the future of NFT is and how will it be of a benefit to artists, brands and the public as a whole
Most of what is possible has not yet been thought of but NFTs are already helping artists, bands and the general public by creating a greater connection through a number of ways such as ownership, access, experiences and community while ensuring artists are getting a fair source of revenue directly from their fans and community.
What else does Lucky NFT have planned for 2022 and beyond?
We are speaking to many brands, artists and celebrities about how we can help them enter Web 3 and are planning to scale NFT events across Australia and NZ in the next 12 months.

THE THRILLING & DRAMATIC NEW SINGLE, CHOKE
IS OUT NOW
Colletto Bianco is the solo artist arrival of frontman Joel Martorana from Sydney based rock outfit, Endless Heights. With three critically acclaimed releases, triple j high rotation success, sold-out headline tours and touring with artists such as Taking Back Sunday, The Amity Affliction, The Story So Far and Basement – their live show quickly became a rite of passage in Australian alternative music.
On the back of ten years of international touring in the world of rock and roll, Joel debuts into the pop realm under Colletto Bianco.
Today, Colletto Bianco reveals it’s first masterpiece, Choke.
“Choke is a torturous dance between desire and fear. One’s overwhelming fear of self being hidden behind a veil of chaos, passion and lust. The debut single from Colletto Bianco exposes the impulse to indulge and distract instead of listening to your own conscience – using pleasure as a distraction to shy away from what is in front of you.” explains Joel Martorana.
The single is accompanied by a music video that is a true cinematic introduction to the thrilling, dramatic and tragic character project that is Colletto Bianco.
“Choke gives a brief insight into the daily life of this proud, chauvinistic and bold fool. Watching Colletto build credibility with his dons and (poorly) juggling a hidden second life from his beloved family who are eventually brought into his mess.”
The independently released music video is a shared passion project of immensely talented cast and crew which consists of director Mikey Hamer (The Jezabels), director of photography Jack Shepherd (Lime Cordiale),executive producer Chris Elder / Haus Party (Peking Duck) and produced by Joel Martorana himself.
The short film also features appearances from Joel’s real Sicilian family including his grandparents, father, brother and cousins.
Colletto Bianco is Italian for ‘White Collar’ – an ode to his heritage and a piss-take on his own sense of self, juggling a life of creativity with the corporate world.
Colletto Bianco will seduce you toward an opulent film noir style cabaret nestled underground in a secluded golden age clique. Swirling with dark pop, emo jazz and dirty martinis.

Where are you currently based?
We are all currently based in Adelaide, South Australia
How did Wanderers form?
We formed on stage during a jam night at the ‘Grace Emily Hotel’ in Adelaide. After improvising our way through a couple of Dusty’s songs a few weeks in a row we decided to make a record and give ourselves a name. It flowed pretty organically as we launched onto the local scene and it all grew from there.
What’s been happening recently?
Both Dusty and I got Covid, so that was fun haha, and we just released an EP! So that has been a big part of our lives recently.
Your self titled EP is out now, what influenced the sound and songwriting?
There’s many many musical influences that come from all of the guys. We all listen to a lot of different types of music and play a lot of different music individually, but we always come together and create our unique sound. We are always sending each other different songs or records.
How did you go about writing the EP?
The process with Wanderers is that the songs are generally written to a certain point where they have solid outlines, then do the colouring in with the guys in the rehearsal room. This is usually when the bridge sections are written and the arrangements are refined. It also helps complete lyrics this way, sometimes improvising them over the top of the band as we refine the songs.
Some of them were written while we were away on a tour in a hotel room with an acoustic guitar or little battery powered keyboard.
Where and when did you record/produce/master and who with?
It was a very spread out process. Some of the tracks were written over 2 years ago, and also recorded long ago. But some in the most recent times while in Covid. We have a great recording studio here in Adelaide called Wundenbergs, So we pretty much always record most of the songs there. I also got my own little studio where we did lots of the keyboard parts and vocals. Molly was mixed by a great guy here in Australia Jackson Barclay, he pretty much mixed all our music up until the point of this EP. Make It On My Own was mixed by a Melbourne engineer called Julian Schweitzer. The rest of the tracks were mixed by Keith Jeffery from a band called Atlas Genius. All mastered by Joe La’Porta at Sterling Sound In NYC.
You’ll be touring in April/May where are you headed and what do you have planned?
We have a little trip to the USA for SXSW just before the Australia tour. We are headed to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and of course, a big show at home in Adelaide.
Hopefully these will be some of our best shows. Some bigger venues and better production than our previous shows. Also, maybe a taste of some new songs!
Who are you listening to at the moment?
It’s all pretty random but lots of RnB style music at the moment :
Silk Sonic
Anderson .Paak
John Mayer’s new stuff
Also been loving Yebba lately
What do you like to do away from music?
Music is pretty much central to all that we do!
What’s in store for 2022?
Lots of new music and hopefully plenty for shows and touring in Australia and overseas.
Favourite food and place to hangout?
Favourite place to hang would still be where the band was formed, The Grace Emily Hotel. And definitely can’t go wrong with late night Chinese food.

Title: Moonlight
Label: Fly Over Records
After debuting its new imprint Fly Over Records with REGGIO‘s hard-hitting big-room house track “Fantasy” last month, NFT-backed label Purple Fly now welcomes Portugal‘s top DJ Diego Miranda and British/Greek duo Mad M.A.C. to their ranks with the new single “Moonlight,” featuring Brazilian singer/songwriter Lucas Pretti. The label keeps up their diverse repertoire with this groovy progressive gem, featuring soulful vocals and a deep, driving bassline that begs for late-night soirees. It’s a welcome addition to REGGIO‘s big-room release, setting up Fly Over to be positioned as a place for festival-oriented music and beyond. Although Fly Over serves as a space for growing artists, Diego Miranda has been making scenes in his native Portugal for over a decade. “Moonlight” is truly a global creation, with Diego joining forces with British/Greek duo MAD M.A.C., who earlier worked with the likes of Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Quintino, Yves V.
Purple Fly is an independent imprint utilizing cryptocurrency’s hottest frontier as a platform for the spectrum of electronic music, which previously released singles from the likes of Fatman Scoop, Shaquille O’Neal, DJ SODA, Ahin of MOMOLAND, BLVD., Laidback Luke, Sevenn, and more. Purple Fly‘s goal is to support collaborations of all forms of art, connecting music and stunning visuals for an immersive experience that spans the sonic realms of trance to trap. The label releases an NFT directly on its official website with each music drop, enabling artists to have access to direct support from their fan base while expressing their creativity. Diego Miranda has been voted as one of the DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs for 11 consecutive years, and in 2022 he will perform at Tomorrowland for the 5th time in a row. He’s also the only Portuguese DJ nominated by his homeland’s MTV as the Best Portuguese Artist 2 years in a row. He previously released on Smash The House, Revealed, Mixmash, Sony Music, and more.
