Shark’s national CRY FOREVER tour will be the Gold Coast local’s most ambitious live undertaking yet in some of the largest venues Australia has to offer, and to celebrate the announcement she’s today shared a new tune from the album, ‘All the Lies About Me’. The tour will kick off at Qudos Bank Arena (Sydney) on June 12, before moving through to Rod Laver Arena (Melbourne) on June 18, Wrest Point Lawns (Hobart) June 19, HOTA (Gold Coast) June 25, Riverstage (Brisbane) June 26, Adelaide Entertainment Centre July 1, and will finish up in Perth at RAC Arena on July 3. Tickets go on sale Friday 11 December at 10am local time and are available from www.amyshark.com.    Amy Shark sold in excess of 45,000 tickets in 2019 across her metro and regional tours, with her regional tour last week picking up the ARIA for ‘Best Australian Live Act’, paired with her ARIA win for ‘Best Pop Release’ for ‘Everybody Rise’. The CRY FOREVER tour will see Shark level up, rolling out world class production and musicianship as she brings her anticipated new album to life in arenas across Australia.    No stranger to the big stage, Amy Shark has headlined many major festivals, along with winning over the entire stadium at Fire Fight and wowing a huge national audience with her recent NRL Grand Final appearance. Guaranteed to delight fans across Australia, this career defining must-see tour promises to feature stand out performances of songs from the critically acclaimed LOVE MONSTER album, fan faves from the NIGHT THINKER EP and of course brand new music from CRY FOREVER including ARIA winning, platinum accredited ‘Everybody Rise’which is nearing 20 million streams globally and spent 12 weeks in the top 10 Australian airplay chart.     “I am so proud of this album and it’s time to hand these songs over to the fans,” says Shark. “To announce a tour of this size, after the year we have been through, gives me hope that the world is heading back to normality. I will give every show every part of me, this is going to be massive and I am counting down the days to perform.”   CRY FOREVER is the follow up to Amy Shark’s 2018 #1 ARIA Album Of The Year, LOVE MONSTER and is available to pre-order now via Wonderlick/Sony Music Entertainment. Written and recorded between the US, UK, New Zealand and Shark’s home studio on the Gold Coast, her exceptional songwriting is on full display here, co-producing with A-List producers: Dann Hume (ARIA 2018 & 2019 Producer Of The year), M-Phazes (Ruel, Eminem), Joel Little (Lorde, Taylor Swift), Jamie Hartman (Lewis Capaldi, Rag ‘n’ Bone Man), Dan Wilson (Adele, Leon Bridges) and Sammy Witte (Harry Styles, King Princess). CRY FOREVER will also see Shark team up with Grammy award winning artist Keith Urban following on from her latest collaboration with Blink 182’s Travis Barker on new single, ‘C’MON’.    Through Shark’s honest and emotional storytelling, CRY FOREVER is set to be an evolution from her debut album LOVE MONSTER, “I am now a more confident musician and person than the Amy of 2018, and I feel like I am ready to share some moments from my life that I wasn’t previously ok to talk about,” says Shark, “These are some of the most personal and confronting songs I’ve ever written, and I can’t wait to share them with everyone.” And to celebrate the album and tour announcement, Shark has dropped a new track, ‘All The Lies About Me’, featuring her trademark soaring vocals, powerful lyrics and acoustic guitar. “This song is me at my most confused, broken and lonely. It’s not easy hearing things about yourself that simply aren’t true. Sometimes the noise gets too loud, so I had to write this song as it’s the only way I can talk.”   Amy Shark has come a long way since her breakthrough single Adore.  As shared on her Instagram account - in just a few years she has gone from moving 82 tickets in her home state of Queensland, to selling out arena-sized venues all across the country. After bursting on to the global music scene in 2016, her 5 x Platinum single ‘Adore’ put her on the map as one of Australia’s most formidable emerging songwriters. This was followed by 4 x Platinum and number one Australian Airplay Chart hit, ‘I Said Hi’ and the 2019 2 x platinum single ‘Mess Her Up’. Shark’s debut/breakthrough #1 ARIA album and Platinum-certified LOVE MONSTER was recognised in 2018 with four ARIA awards (Album of the Year, Best Female Artist, Best Pop Release, Best Producer [Dann Hume]), and was nominated for another five. LOVE MONSTER went on to become the highest selling album by an Australian artist for 2018.    Undoubtedly, 2021 is poised to be an even bigger year for Amy Shark with the release of her sophomore record and national CRY FOREVER tour.    CRY FOREVER is set for release on April 30, 2021 and is available to pre-order now via Wonderlick/Sony Music Entertainment Australia.   The CRY FOREVER tour will be held with a commitment to a COVID Safe environment.  TEG LIVE will work closely with and comply with all requirements of the public health authorities in respect of these shows.   AMY SHARK ‘CRY FOREVER’ TOUR 2021 Saturday 12 June 2021 | Sydney | Qudos Bank Arena Friday 18 June 2021 | Melbourne | Rod Laver Arena Saturday 19 June 2021 | Hobart | Wrest Point Lawns Friday 25 June 2021 | Gold Coast | HOTA Saturday 26 June 2021 | Brisbane | Riverstage Thursday 1 July 2021 | Adelaide | AEC Theatre Saturday 3 July 2021 | Perth | RAC Arena TICKETING INFORMATION Telstra is offering their customers an exclusive Telstra Plus presale from 2pm (local) Monday 7 December to 2pm (local) Wednesday 9 December. For more details regarding the presale, please visit https://www.telstra.com.au/plus/tickets/music   The general public will have the opportunity to purchase tickets from 10am (local) Friday 11 December from https://www.amyshark.com   Fans can also take advantage of Ticketek’s world-leading partnership with Afterpay for Amy’s Cry Forever Tour. Motorsports champion Christian Meyer joins Levop to deliver a joyful sunshine jam on his musical debut ‘Sacala Al Sol’ with stunning music video

Whether it’s winter or summer where you are, there’s never a bad time to bring some musical sunshine into your life. Spanish vocalist Levop & motorcycle champion-and-artist Christian Meyer have got what you need in the form of their glorious new single ‘Sacala Al Sol’. The accompanying music video starring both artists delivers the ultimate summer vibes. Watch it, here.

Brimming with good vibes from the first note, this Latin firecracker is a delight from start to finish. Sumptuous vocals float over muted pads, and a sexy trap/R&B beat is teased to get the hips moving — but the track takes you by surprise, unexpectedly switching to an Afrobeat / reggaeton rhythm as the chorus beckons. The infectious refrain is bolstered by sweet melodic sounds and warm bass thrusts, combining beautifully to transport you right to the beach. It’s the sound of partying by the sea, running in the sand with friends, sipping cocktails and finding holiday romance.

“’Sacala Al Sol is a song inspired by everyday events which transmits joy and optimism” explains Meyer. “Good vibes are so necessary in these moments that we are living. Also ’Sacala Al Sol’ means exposing yourself and chasing your dreams.” The history of the song stretches back a couple of years, as Levop explains. “I started writing this song during my stay in Maryland in the summer of 2018, and I finished it with Christian in Spain, between mountain strolls and cooking sessions. Now it is for the whole world.” Well marinated and matured, this beautiful song has been worth the wait.

Christian Meyer is one of the pioneers of freestyle MX motorsport, with many trophies and firsts to his name over the years. His move into music was an unexpected one, but on the strength of this wonderful single, it’s been a wise one. Classically-trained Spanish-born singer Levop makes for the perfect accompaniment.

Levop & Christian Meyer – ‘Sacala Al Sol’ is out now.

UNUM FESTIVAL RETURNS FOR 2021 AS ALBANIAN GOVERNMENT APPROVES USE OF RAPID TESTING June 3rd – 7th 2021 Shengjin, Albania

Unum Festival is to return to the gorgeous beaches and pine forests of Shenghin on the Albanian Riviera from June 3rd to 7th 2021. After careful discussions with the Ministry of Tourism and Environment, and the Ministry of Health, all necessary measures will be undertaken to ensure that rapid tests will be offered at the open air festival venue so that you can enjoy world class music in a stunning, sun kissed setting next summer. This makes Albania the first country in the world to approve of testing for social and cultural events.
The advancing technology and accuracy of rapid tests currently allows for results within 10-15 minutes, which is all that would be required to ensure you can enjoy the festival in the way it should be enjoyed. On top of that, vaccines will likely have arrived early next year so that plans for this small, perfectly formed festival are now well underway, all with the support and backing of the Albanian government.
In 2019, the close-knit UNUM was a brand new festival that made an immediate mark in its first year because it was a friendly coming together of real music lovers in an amazing region of the world. It played out on the beautiful, organic and natural Albanian Riviera with a world class line-up of house, minimal and techno DJs such as Luciano, Ricardo Villalobos, Butch, Margaret Dygas, Petre Inspirescu, Praslea, Sonja Moonear, Zip and more. Expect more of these cult underground selectors when the full line up is announced soon.
The festival really shined a spotlight on Rana e Hedhun, the last untapped corner of Europe in the town of Shengjin, on the idyllic Albanian coastline. Music played, and will play again, across day and night, with blissful sunrise and sunset parties, water sports, plenty of local culture, food and drink offerings and a music loving crowd from all corners of the world. Beyond the music there is lots to explore in this natural paradise, from  isolated bays and gold sand beaches to the Albanian Alps.
Until next June, take care of yourself, family, and friends and save your energy for what will be some seriously good vibes for Unum 2021.

LUNDØN Blend Electronic With Rock in “Only Drug” Ft. LA-Based Vocalist Julian Comeau

LUNDØN Blend Electronic With Rock in “Only Drug” Ft. LA-Based Vocalist Julian Comeau

NYC-based DJ/producer duo LUNDØN has once again linked up with L.A.-based rock singer/songwriter, Julian Comeau for their newest collaboration, “Only Drug.” The track follows shortly after their successful summer release with “Don’t Turn This Car Around” as well as their recent release ‘Ride Or Die’ alongside Kramos. “Only Drug” drops December 4th on all streaming platforms.

*STREAM/DOWNLOAD: LUNDØN – “ONLY DRUG” FT. JULIAN COMEAU*

The harmonious, textured vocal, courtesy of Julian Comeau effortlessly flows throughout the track’s entirety, serving as a prime accompaniment to LUNDØN’s hefty basslines and heart-soaring drops. Just when you thought the track couldn’t get any better, the second drop takes a pleasantly unexpected turn with head-banging dubstep beats. The melancholic theme of the tune is executed flawlessly, in large part due to the raw emotion and power behind Comeau’s harmonious singing of the track’s profoundly rich lyrics. Overall, LUNDØN’s hard-hitting dance music production elements act as a great addition to the pop-rock sensibilities Comeau is also known for, in turn crafting the perfect sonic marriage between dance music and indie rock.

STREAM: LUNDØN – “DON’T TURN THIS CAR AROUND” (FT. JULIAN COMEAU)

LUNDØN is a NYC-based electronic dance music DJ duo that recently formed within the last year. Consisting of Justin Peeling and Jeff Updike (formerly known as Stvylight), the pair’s first time working with one another was on October 2019’s “Whoever’s Next” alongside Reece Young and Brandon Elgar. Stemming off its success and wanting to take things further, they eventually decided to link up with one another to form LUNDØN, marking their second release with “Only Drug.”

Where are you currently based?

I live in beautiful Langley, BC, Canada 🙂

How did you first start playing music?

My Dad was in a band when I was little. It was a Christian band and they used to play in church, so I would sit in the front row and with every song memorized, I would sing at the top of my lungs. I’m sure most people thought, “Can someone please shut this curly haired kid up?”

From there, I did piano lessons from ages 6 – 15, alto saxophone from grade 7 – grade 12 and was in every choir I would possibly have time for right into college. My Dad’s band came back together the year I came home from “Canadian Idol” and opened for me at my homecoming concert. Talk about full circle!

What’s been happening recently and how has your Covid experience been so far?

I think that like for everyone, I’ve had my ups and downs. So anytime I know I’m starting to hit the slide, I make sure to call someone, write something, organize something or make something. Anything to keep me going and feeling productive. It’s weird but it’s what we have right now.

Your new single ‘Too Strong’ is out now, what influenced the sound and songwriting?

This song was kind of a fluke and started after a long studio day. Jeff Johnson – one of my co-writer/producers on the single – and I were just chatting about life, and we ended up recording some rough late night musical bits and pieces into our phones. In the morning, we laughed and listed to what we had…. but that’s when we went, “Hey… this is pretty rad, I think we have a chorus here!”

Then Mitch Merrett (the other co-writer/producer on the single) and Chad Kroeger (the other writer) heard it and said, “We are finishing this song right now!”

We had it written and roughly recorded in less than 24 hrs. 🙂

How did you go about co-writing Too Strong?

Everyone on this project really equally brought their craft to the table. These boys are so talented that I’m amazed to be sitting in the same room as them. We all spoke our own truths and wrote what came naturally to us. It’s a testament to why I love co-writing so much!

Please tell us about the story behind the single:

This song was intended to give a message of strength to not give up, because we are too strong to let this break us. It started out as a message to anyone going though a tough relationship – there are so many of us who have had these kinds of struggles in the past. The easiest thing is to just give up, it’s really hard to be strong and fight when there is no fight left. But we can – we absolutely can.

I feel like as this year kept going, the meaning took on a second meaning to me, as we deal with this world we need to remember that we are in this together and we are too strong to give up. We need to carry each other.

Where and when did you record/produce?

We wrote this song in mid Dec. 2019 at Chad Kroeger’s place and recorded it in his home studio. Then Jeff Johnson took the track home with him back to the Okanagan and sent it out to a few key players to add some bells and whistles on it (not literally but hey.. bells and whistles and cow bells are cool too!).

How did you approach the recording process?

We were all so excited about this song there was no time to think. I was literally recording it as we were writing it. It was so cool!!

What programs/instruments did you use?

Avid Pro Tools, Drums, Bass, Guitars, Fiddles, Mandolins, Acoustic Guitars, Shakers, Tambourines and Vocals…. Along with Nacho Chips & Salsa, Perogies, Wine, Whiskey and Tequila!

Award winning producers Jeff Johnson and Mitch Merrett co-produced the single, how did this come about and how was the experience?

This team is amazing!! They are so talented in their own way I feel lucky to have them.

What I love the most about having both of them on this project is that they are so different. They both bring such unique ideas and lend their crafts to the project with such passion.

I have been buddies with Mitch Merrett for about 15 years now and when it came time to start my last project, “Under The Covers in Muscle Shoals”, I approached him with only the idea of doing a live off the floor record. He then took that idea and ran with it way bigger than I could have imagined. This lead to recording with some of the original Swampers, and at the world famous Fame studios in Alabama. Mitch and Mike Pyle (Bobby Wills) co-produced that record for me.

Fast forward to a year from that release and I really wanted to get back into writing and recording my own material. The “Under the Covers” album was an 11 song covers record and it was time to get creative again. I was singing at a fundraiser that Chad Kroeger was also attending and after I was done he came up to me, took my phone put his number in it, and said, “We are gonna work together on something, call me.”

So… I did and after a couple of meetings, he picked up the phone, called Jeff (whom I was friends with in the industry for years but had never worked with yet) and said I think you guys should record together. Jeff and I chatted, and got excited about writing. We then called Mitch and planned a writing weekend away at my place in the Okanagan, and the rest is… history!

I look up to this team big time, they have taught me so much.

How does Too Strong relate to the current Covid pandemic?

I hope it gives people a message of strength, a message of unity. We are going through this wild world together, and eventually it’s going to feel different. So we can’t give up, we have to stay strong because we are “Too Strong” to give up.

Please tell us about your experience recording your last album at the legendary Fame Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama:

This was one of those “once in a lifetime” times for me. If I didn’t take this opportunity, I knew I would never have that chance again and I am so glad I did.

Mitch and I had talked about doing a live off the floor record when he called me and said “I think we need to go where this was done at its best.”

He made some calls, had me watch the amazing documentary “Muscle Shoals Live” and then called me and said, “Not only does Mike Pyle of Muscle Shoals want to work on it but he thinks he can round up some of the original Swampers to play on it.”

After watching the documentary and then hearing some of the recognizable names coming onto the project, I couldn’t believe it. We then decided to take this project one step farther and do an 11 song covers record with 10 of those recorded in Muscle Shoals, at Fame Studios and recorded with some of the same guys.

Let me tell you, standing in the exact same place, same isolation booth, as Etta James, Aretha Franklin, and Bob Dylan stood (to name a few), singing their songs while looking out onto the floor at these master musicians – which included some of the original players who played on the exact same song from back in the ‘60s & ‘70s (Jimmy Johnson, Clayton Ivy, Bob Wray) – was the most surreal moment of my entire life. Bar none.

Then to top it all off, the founder and owner of Fame comes in and stands on the floor for 30 minutes before going into the control room. He then throws some cans on and starts to talk to me through my ears. I just about died.

“Ok Little Lady, let’s take it again from the top.”

He produced ‘Respect’ with Aretha, and he produced ‘Mustang Sally’. How in the world am I standing here right now? Rick Hall passed away a few months after that session, and Jimmy Johnson shortly after that. I don’t know how I was able to grab onto this once in a lifetime opportunity but I thank my lucky stars I did. RIP friends and thank you.

How did Canadian Idol help kick off your career and what did you learn from the experience?

Exposure is always what one strives for in this industry, especially as an indie artist. So to be on a show that was watched by 6.1 million people was pretty cool. I am so thankful for that opportunity. Once it was done and I kept going, radio and TV kept caring about what I was doing next. It helped so much and I will forever be grateful for that.

I definitely learned that no one is going to come running to you. You can’t come home from something like that and sit on the couch expecting to get the “big call.” It can happen yes, but most likely not and it’s all in what you do with it. I tried to remember that moving forward and that has been a great lesson to keep in the back of my head all the time. It’s always hard work, you can’t sit down, how bad do you want to make music. Then do it.

Who are you listening to at the moment?

Jess Moskaluke’s new single “Mapdot” is so good. We release on the same day, always great to cheer a girlfriend on! I am also loving Brothers Osborne probably too much. My whole house has no choice but to hear them on repeat daily – haha.

What do you like to do away from music?

If I am not hanging out with my family or friends, you will probably find me in my kitchen making “Earthya”.

I started this little hobby company in April after the pandemic started. I was finding myself slowly sliding, watching all my shows cancel one by one, and thought, “No way Karen – create busy in a different way.”

So I took my little hobby that I had been doing for about a year prior, rebranded, renamed it and actually told people about it outside my family and close friends. So now I have over 100 products that I make from home. They are all 100% organic made with premium essential oils. Household and beauty products including lip balm, lip glosses, bar soap, surface cleaners, room sprays, etc.

What’s planned for the remainder of 2020 going into 2021?

My plan for the rest of 2020 is to just stay in contact with people, talk about my new single, and my new video. I also want to interact with people and through that, I hope that my music helps in some way. I also need to de-clutter, so that’s a goal of mine, too. Out with the old, create new. Then come 2021, I am looking forward to releasing my next single. I CAN’T wait!! It’s unlike any release or write I have ever done and I can’t wait to hear what people think. I hope to put a much needed smile on some faces!!

Favourite food and place to hangout?

Oh man, well where food is concerned, I do love sushi but I don’t really “hang out” at sushi restaurants – haha.

But my favourite place to hang out is of course, the stage. I love the people and the energy that goes with performing and I look forward to the day when we can go back and do it again!

Perth’s BIG ORANGE unleashes debut album AN ODE TO ODIOUS

by the partae December 4, 2020
written by the partae
Big Orange put themselves out there wholeheartedly, presenting their debut album, An Ode To Odious. Releasing this eight track collection of alt-rock as we head into summer, Big Orange are giving fans an album that will uplift and rouse – it’s an album that cuts through the density that has been 2020 and instead, breaks things open for more hopeful times ahead.

Featuring already released singles ‘Apocketlipstick’, ‘Goodnight Kiss Vampire Bite’, ‘The Reason’ and their latest cut from the album, ‘I Wanna Know’, An Ode To Odious is an album that presents the perfect snapshot of the dynamism of one of WA’s strongest rock acts.

Uplifting melodies and bright percussion meet warm guitars and impassioned keys, giving the album moments of rich indie depth (‘In The Shadows’). From songwriter Daniel Davis, we hear some strong pop songwriting chops, as he channels energy that will remind listeners of early Arcade Fire and The Jezabels (‘Dangerous Times’, ‘I Wanna Know’).
“I usually write about existentialism, morality, sadness, self-loathing, misanthropy, lost love and apocalypse; so I hope people can enjoy an album’s worth of my pessimistic world view. I’m glad we could get this album before the world ends. This album has been a long time coming and a lot of work but we think we’ve made a really good record that we can be proud of.” Daniel Davis, Big Orange

The album was recorded by Davis at his home studio in West Leederville and also by Dave Parkin (Spacey Jane, San Cisco) out at Perth’s Blackbird Sound Studio, An Ode To Odious keeps the fresh essence of Big Orange at the fore, highlighting their musicality, particularly with the introduction of new drummer – Jamie Gallacher – to the group.

With new blood in the fold, the album making process went through many different phases, ultimately arriving at cohesive and refined presentation of the band Big Orange are continuing to flourish into.

“We’ve been chipping away at this album for quite some time now. Some tracks are new but others have been kicking around for what seems like eternity. It’s not a long album, just eight tracks that felt right together at this point in time. We have so much in the pipeline, it feels good to get this train a-rollin’.” Emma Adams, Big Orange

PRAISE FOR BIG ORANGE

“There’s something really exciting about Big Orange and throughout 2020, despite everything going on, we’ve had the opportunity to see that begin to blossom.”
Pilerats

“Big Orange come off like some of the best power-popsters such as The Posies combined with the rollicking feel and dry wit of Ben Folds.”
Amrap (Australian Music Radio Airplay Project)

“This band knows how to write a classic pop song.”
Triple J Unearthed, Dave Ruby Howe

“They could be the next big thing out of WA, everyone could be talking about Big Orange.”
FBi Radio, Al Grigg

Where are you currently based? Sydney How did you first start playing music? My earliest memory was listening to the Amy Winehouse album (Back To Black) at my grandparents house, they had a piano and I decided to learn how to play the song by ear. I have always loved music but that really was a definitive moment on why I wanted to start playing music.  What's been happening recently and how has your Covid experience been? I just finished up on this year's season of AMERICA'S GOT TALENT, and jumped straight into the studio. Covid has given me a lot of time to think and feel to write my music so it has been good in that aspect. I just released my debut ‘More Than I’  Your new single 'More Than I' is out now, what influenced the sound and songwriting? Writing "More Than I" I wanted the single to be Cinematic, Dark & Emotional. 'THE HUNGER GAMES' X 'BILLIE EILISH' X FLORENCE & THE MACHINE'  How did you go about writing More Than I? I have had this song written for a few years now, it wasn’t until I got back from LA and had to quarantine that I spent time at the piano and put the music together for the song!  What does this single mean to you? The song is very personal to me. I wrote it about a time in my life where I came out to the world as myself. There is this very silent moment between coming out and waiting for the other end to respond. For me this song is reflective of that moment and the build up to having the courage to be my truth.  Please tell us about any new music on the way and what we can expect: The music that I’m recording and creating now are even more personal, they deep dive more into more obvious moments in my life, moments that I believe the audience will connect to a lot more. With ‘More Than I’ it was really the epic movie trailer music that just like a movie trailer gives you the sneak peak, in the most epic style, of what is yet to come in the all new music coming soon. What was your experience like being involved in America's Got Talent and The Voice, how do the two experiences compare? Well look, I’m so grateful for both. The Voice was very difficult for me, I was learning and growing to be the person that I am in the two seasons of the voice that I was on. There were a lot of great moments and moments I wish I could re-do but in saying that I was able to experiment with my fashion, my voice and how I wanted to present myself.  AGT was a TV giant, but I was prepared, although I was still nervous, I was very confident in myself and my talent. I was not expecting to get 30 Million views on my audition in the first week. Like I said AGT was just GIANT haha!  What did you learn from the experience of being on both? From the aspect of both shows, the biggest thing I learnt was that originality over predictability is key. Authenticity and truth is always the golden ticket and trusting in who you are and not doubting yourself is so important but listening and taking on critique is just as important!  What did you find most challenging and rewarding during the experience of being on both shows? The hardest part really is that it is TV and everything is uncertain till the second you're actually singing. Things change and being a performer who has always been a perfection, AGT and the voice have really pushed me to work fast, work smart, think creatively and always out of the box.  Who are you listening to at the moment? Billie Eillish always but right now, Catie Turner from American Idol. Genuinely obsessed.  What do you like to do away from music? Fashion, I love to design and make. For me, the creative and the visual aesthetic is almost if not just as important as the music. I’m a very visual person and the outfit that I’m performing in can be the cherry that makes the performance. Just like a song written uses metaphors to tell the story I use my art to tell the story. I’m always working on something new.  What's planned for the remainder of 2020 going into 2021? WRITING WRITING RELEASING! Favourite food and place to hangout? I love art galleries, I can walk around all day haha. How did you first start playing music?

My earliest memory was listening to the Amy Winehouse album (Back To Black) at my grandparents house, they had a piano and I decided to learn how to play the song by ear. I have always loved music but that really was a definitive moment on why I wanted to start playing music.

What’s been happening recently and how has your Covid experience been?

I just finished up on this year’s season of AMERICA’S GOT TALENT, and jumped straight into the studio. Covid has given me a lot of time to think and feel to write my music so it has been good in that aspect. I just released my debut ‘More Than I’

Your new single ‘More Than I’ is out now, what influenced the sound and songwriting?

Writing “More Than I” I wanted the single to be Cinematic, Dark & Emotional. ‘THE HUNGER GAMES’ X ‘BILLIE EILISH’ X FLORENCE & THE MACHINE’

How did you go about writing More Than I?

I have had this song written for a few years now, it wasn’t until I got back from LA and had to quarantine that I spent time at the piano and put the music together for the song!

What does this single mean to you?

The song is very personal to me. I wrote it about a time in my life where I came out to the world as myself. JESSICA JADE REVEALS EAGERLY AWAITED DEBUT EP ‘BET’

by the partae December 4, 2020
written by the partae

“Jessica Jade is one of those artists that you’ll be glad to have known about before they got big, and trust us, it is going to happen soon.” – Tone Deaf

“Bet is an extremely likeable track from an artist I could literally listen to all day.” – Project U

“Sydney has a new R n B star on the rise.” – SNIFFERS

Proud western Sydney sensation Jessica Jade today drops her eagerly awaited debut EP ‘BET’ as well as hard-hitting feature track ‘Drive By’ which premiered on Complex.

‘BET’ is a bold omnibus from the young R&B artist, showcasing every facet of the multi-dimensional act. Opening with the vulnerable, pop-leaning ‘You’, it includes further singles ‘Taste’ – a sludgy empowerment anthem – and ballad title track ‘BET’, alongside feature track ‘Drive By’.

Speaking on the vulnerability of the creative process Jade acknowledges “I feel like I’ve been really lost over the past few years but finally working on something solid has taught me to take time with my art and trust the process as well as trust myself. I’ve learned that music is my way of reassuring myself that I am on the right path and where I am meant to be.”

THE TESKEY BROTHERS RELEASE TWO CHRISTMAS SONGS ‘DREAMING OF A CHRISTMAS WITH YOU’ & ‘HIGHWAY HOME FOR CHRISTMAS’ + ANNOUNCE CHRISTMAS EVENT WITH ORCHESTRA VICTORIA!

by the partae December 4, 2020
written by the partae

Coming through with the holiday cheer, 2020 ARIA Award winners The Teskey Brothers have today released two original Christmas songs, ‘Dreaming Of A Christmas With You’ (+ accompanying video) and ‘Highway Home For Christmas’!  To coincide with the release, the band have also announced an extremely special Christmas performance event with Orchestra Victoria, which will be filmed at Hamer Hall and premiered on YouTube on Tuesday 22 December at 10.00am AEDT.

Speaking of ‘Dreaming Of A Christmas With You / Highway Home For Christmas’, The Teskey Brothers said:
“Our first Christmas tunes! These two songs are both inspired by the lockdown we all faced this year. The story speaks to the separation of lovers and family, in Victoria’s case divided by the great Murray River, holding onto hope for a reunion at Christmas. You’ve got a lonely soul at home who’s ‘Dreaming Of A Christmas With You’, while their loved one is hightailing it down the ‘Highway Home For Christmas’. After a slow year off the tools, it was so much fun to get back together and record these tracks live in the room.”
Rounding out the year will be a not-to-be-missed performance by The Teskey Brothers, whose songs will be reimagined by arranger Jamie Messenger and performed live onstage at Hamer Hall with Orchestra Victoria (led by conductor Nicholas Buc) and viewable to fans across the world on YouTube. The 50-minute performance will feature songs from the band’s catalogue, a debut performance of ‘Dreaming Of A Christmas With You’ and ‘Highway Home For Christmas’, as well as a few more surprises in the works.

The news comes off the back of last week’s ARIA Award win for Best Blues & Roots Album for their #1 ARIA chart-topping LP, Live At The Forum! Amidst a 16-date sold out national Australian tour in 2019, the band undertook the arduous task of recording to analogue tape during their four-night stand at the beloved Melbourne venue. The album features songs from the band’s two revered albums, Run Home Slow (2019) and Half Mile Harvest (2017), as well as a special cover of John Lennon’s ‘Jealous Guy’. Live At The Forum is the first live album to go number 1 by an Australian band since 1992’s AC/DC Live.

INTRODUCING ROBERT IRISH LISTEN TO NEW SINGLE ‘ALL OF YOU’

by the partae December 4, 2020
written by the partae

Meet Robert Irish, the Australian-born, New York-based singer-songwriter with his debut track ‘All Of You‘. Listen HERE, watch HERE.

‘All Of You‘ is a soundtrack to the open road, with pit stops at the Cass McCombs, Phosphorescent and Fleet Foxes discographies along its journey. Rolling bass, expansive synths and desert dive piano come together somewhere between Kurt Vile and a Father John Misty deep cut. The accompanying video takes inspiration from the home-movie sequence in Wim Wenders’ film Paris, Texas, and the intimate Super 8 film moments captured in the 1970’s.

Of the track, Irish shares, “All Of You is a song about leaving a life behind to devote yourself to someone you love, and that theme seemed so over the top that I felt it needed a wink in there to get it up out of the ground. Humour is so important in music. It is what let’s it be sad.”

Robert Irish is the new solo project from the guitarist of Sydney-trio Devotional, and the first of his recorded music since relocating to New York City in 2015. Taking influence from past greats such as Roy Orbison and Gram Parsons, Robert Irish delivers music that is tense and tender, with bittersweet humour and country twang. Stay tuned for more news coming soon.

‘All Of You‘ by Robert Irish is out now, buy/stream it here.

Mia Dyson reveals vinyl reissue of her acclaimed 2005 Parking Lots LP + Digital release Parking Lots (Revisited) anniversary EP + 2021 Australian East Coast tour dates on sale now

Australian icon Mia Dyson is thrilled to be reissuing her ARIA Award-winning 2005 album Parking Lots on vinyl, celebrating the 15-year milestone release with an additional Parking Lots (Revisited) EP and 2021 East Coast Tour.

Heading back into the studio in 2020 to revisit five songs from the album, Mia’s Parking Lots (Revisited) EP sheds new light on a selection of her favourite cuts from the record. From beloved single ‘Roll Me Out’ to the stunning homage of motherly love on ‘Rivers Wide’, and the simple yet captivating title track to the empowering ‘Choose’ and heartbreaking ‘I Meant Something To You Once’, the EP captures the sheer musical mastery of an artist who continues to redefine the blues and roots genre, 15 years on, with the rest of her expansive career still to come.

“Some of my friends and I used to perform in a women’s prison in Western Melbourne. I got to know a few women quite well and over time they shared their stories with me. I wrote Roll Me Out thinking of the story of one woman in particular who had been incarcerated, and then fell in love with another prisoner.” – Mia Dyson

Parking Lots (Revisited) EP Track Listing
1. Roll Me Out
2. Rivers Wide
3. Parking Lots
4. Choose
5. I Meant Something To You Once

“I had my heart broken first not by a lover, but by a friend in high school. It stung a lot and a long time and eventually ended up in this song. Before, when we were about 13, my friend picked up the guitar and started writing. She inspired me to do the same and I’m eternally grateful.” – Mia Dyson

In her two-decade long career, Mia Dyson has been nominated for five ARIA Awards with Parking Lots taking out ‘Best Blues and Roots Album’ in 2005. She was the inaugural recipient of Double J’s Artist Of The Year at the 2014 J Awards following the release of her Australian classic LP Idyllwild, and has had four albums up for AIR Awards with The Moment earning her a nomination for ‘Song Of The Year’ at the 2013 APRA Awards. Mia Dyson’s extensive career has seen her support the likes of Stevie Nicks, Eric Clapton, Bonnie Raitt and Joe Cocker, and most recently touring extensively with her band Dyson Stringer Cloher. Now, the seasoned Australian artist is thrilled to be heading back on the road for a run of National live dates in 2021 across Newcastle, Sydney, Melbourne, regional Victoria, Brisbane and Byron Bay for Bluesfest in her first live shows in 12 months. “The Close/ Le Réveil was written in the last week of August in my lounge and produced across the first two weeks of September.

The urgency of it was in part a response to the stagnancy of 2020, and in part a response to it being the first time I’ve written music to directly process emotion, rather than reflect upon it after the fact. I essentially wrote my own breakup playlist.

The title alludes to the well-worn cliche of endings being beginnings. The songs are loosely structured around the various phases of grief after an ending and aim to ‘close the book’. The project as a whole, and its creation, represents the release from that and the awakening that comes after, ‘le réveil’.

The lead track from this EP, ‘First Time’ looks at the enormous and overwhelming experience of first love and first loss. ‘Swimming Upstream’ is about two people trying but failing, as the past haunts the present and distorts reality after the fantasy of newness fades. It’s a song of regret and sadness, wrapped in a sense of injustice and resentment.

The EP gets gradually lighter. ‘One More Night’ is about missing the sex, ‘Peaches’ about realising mistakes and understanding that you have to grow yourself, ‘Carry On’ is half nostalgia /half acceptance, an understanding that time passes and all you can do is wait, and finally ‘I Miss You’ is about memorialising something that, even if it wasn’t right, was beautiful and deserves a longer life than it got, which essentially is the purpose of the whole project.”

WADE JACKSON New album Sensationalized is out today! Announces Sydney album launch Jan 14

written by the partae

Following his recent signing to Broken Stone Records, today Sydney-based artist Wade Jackson releases his new album Sensationalized, which features his latest single ‘Nightlife’.

As Jackson details of the album “Sensationalized was written and recorded during the Covid-19 lockdown in Sydney. The theme is based around a fictional complete city breakdown, exaggerated reality. An almost apocalyptic, dystopian city with different scenarios played out by different characters in a diary/self reflection style.

This was also reflected in the music I was listening to: Joe Walsh – Barnstorm, Joni Mitchell – Hejira, Lewis Baloue – L’amour, Peter Koppes – Manchild or Myth. All these records for me have a real reclusive feel and felt comforting whilst alone during lockdown.”

Jackson began predominantly worked in music theatre and writing screen plays. Given things weren’t going so well he decided to use his musical chops to write his debut album Goodbye Rain, Hello Sunshine in 2012 which he later recorded with producer Liam Judson (Belles Will Ring, Cloud Control to Major Tom, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever Dream). Touring Australia widely, he took a break to write Whiskey Alpha Delta Echo in the fall of 2013, again co-producing with Judson. The album was picked up on a licensing deal from a Spanish label generating a European tour.

After returning from Europe, with wind in his sails and sales he started work on the follow-up, Crown & Cathedral which unfortunately was disliked immensely by his Spanish fan base citing “there’s too much synthesiser”, a mistake that Jackson did not learn from and continued to use on the follow up album, The Ghost Searches Beside Me. The LP was recorded and mixed by Jackson with his new set of skills he was forced to learn after going broke from investing all of his money into a music documentary he made with friend and well known Australian band manager and industry stalwart, Greg Carey. Waiting – The Van Duren Story was screened around the world and well received.

Now, Broken Stone Records are thrilled to release Jackson’s fifth album titled Sensationalized.

To celebrate the release, Jackson will be launching Sensationalized live on Jan 14, 2021 at Sydney’s Moshpit. Tickets will be available soon.

Antoine – Reveals Glossy New Single ‘New Bae Sh*t’

PRAISE FOR PREVIOUS SINGLE ‘LIVING IN COLOUR’

“A masterclass in narration, a breathtaking single from someone who wants to make a difference.”
– Clash Magazine (UK)

“Expertly pairing a laidback melody with some hard-hitting lyrics, Antoine this is your best yet. Sampling Meyne in here works so well without disrupting your flow and packs a major emotional punch, and those last bars at the end? Really powerful.” – 4.5/5 stars
– Pip Rasmussen – triple j (AUS)

“Poetic and powerful gear from Antoine!” – 4/5 stars
– Declan Byrne – triple j (AUS)

Following on from his critically praised single ‘Living In Colour’, Melbourne-based R&B artist Antoine has just returned with his alluring new single ‘New Bae Sh*t’ – produced and mixed by long-time collaborator ServidSounds.

Opening with sharp hi-hats, delicate synths stabs and Antoine’s effortlessly smooth delivery, ‘New Bae Sh*t’ is an elegant slice of polished R&B. Reverberating bass subs float in and out as the deftly mixed track leaves space for each element to develop eloquently.

Antoine talks about the process behind ‘New Bae Sh*t’:

“We only whipped this up about a month ago. The fastest songs we create are always the ones we love the most, because it means it’s just an effortless and instant vibe, which is exactly what happened with ‘New Bae Sh*t’. After hearing the beat from ServidSounds, I had something written within an hour and we laid it out that week. We had to get this one out for summer.”

Previous singles have been widely embraced by Spotify, Apple Music, triple j, triple j Unearthed and Australian community radio. They’ve also seen support from online blogs Clash Magazine (UK), Pilerats, AUD’$, Cool Accidents, Acid Stag, Mixdown Magazine, The Local Frequency, The Soundcheck and AAA Backstage.

Antoine comes from a family of musicians, who all originate from Mauritius, East Africa and Italy. His Dad is a multi-instrumentalist who still plays shows to this day, and his mother was also a back-up R&B vocalist in the ’80s. Both parents have been huge influences, making it difficult for him to have passion elsewhere.

In the coming weeks, Antoine will reveal an accompanying music video for ‘New Bae Sh*t’.

‘New Bae Sh*t’ is available worldwide now
