Pontcha ku Lua – the captivating EP debut from Jori Collignon’s newly established ‘COLLIGNON’ project – is out now via esteemed Dutch imprint, Reflektor Records.
A unique and creative blend of acoustic world instruments and forward-thinking electronic elements, Jori balances a diverse array of global music traditions and futuristic soundscapes across the impressive three-part EP, to deliver a vivacious and spirited instrumental record that dazzles from the off.
“Travelling plays a big role in my music,” says the multifaceted Dutch artist from his studio in Portugal. “When I’m at home, or working in the studio, I continue to travel through music. It brings me perspective, it teaches me about the connection between people, the value of diversity in culture…and perhaps on a deeper level the interdependence of humanity and environment.”
With strong influences taken from traditional Western African music, the title track is a high-energy, feel good record, underpinned by the rhythm and melody of five carefully tuned conga drums, played by band mate and chief collaborator Gino Bombrini. Senor Nelson Costa – a celebrated musician from Guinea Bissau – plays guitar, while techno-head Sjam Sjamsoedin crushes a mbira with his modular synthesizer.
Drawing on the sounds of North Africa and Latin America across the remainder of the player (with I Left My Wallet in Essaouira and Noetic), it’s clear that Jori’s inspiration is truly international. A pioneering electronic musician with a penchant for global stimuli, each track positively shimmers with originality and vitality, as he creatively combines motifs and styles in new and interesting ways.
Purposefully shunning lyrics and vocals, Jori Collignon wants the music – and the moods he creates – to speak for itself. “There are so many voices everywhere, so much talk,” he explains. “For now, what I want to say is best expressed just by sound and instruments.”
Such a dynamic approach also extends to his new live show – a loud and loose affair using driven up guitar-amps and live improvisation to push sound and composition to new levels. Accompanied by multi-instrumentalist Gino Bombrini (former bandmate from SKIP&DIE), their performances are, unsurprisingly, both engaging and passionate.

About COLLIGNON:
A life spent on the road has provided endless inspiration for Jori Collignon. But after 15 years criss-crossing the globe with former bands SKIP&DIE, Nobody Beats The Drum, and C-Mon & Kypski, the Dutch producer has settled into a house in Palmela, Portugal, complete with guesthouse, garden, and studio, turning it into a place of inspiration, activity and creativity where many artists pass through, leaving their stories and ideas. And it’s here that Collignon has deepened and expanded his sound, pouring his extensive musical and travel experiences into the rich, diverse, and colourful productions. Jori likes to describe COLLIGNON as his new band: “I’m on the wheel of this bus, but as interaction between musicians often is the thing that makes music come alive, I use this alias to collaborate with different artists from a variety of backgrounds”.
The response has been awesome. Each released single has gotten a “this is the one” from a different demographic. Like Me appeals to the trap rap fans, the dancers like Reset, and the r&b lovers love Side to Side.
Honestly, the youth inspired the sound. I tapped in with a lot of what the younger people were listening to and consuming. At the time, I had been listening to a lot of Drake, Justin Bieber, Tory Lanez, and Dababy, and I was inspired by them.
I recorded about 45 songs and we chose the best 14. 5 of the singles on the mixtape were written 3-4 years ago and I was never able to release them prior to this project. So we took those 5 old songs and 9 new songs, and put them together on the mixtape.
I mixed and mastered in Cincinnati, OH with artist / producer / engineer Scott Simms.
The travel from home to Cincinnati to get songs mixed and mastered, and to get videos made was the most challenging. It’s a lot to manage and I probably went back and forth over twenty times to get things completed. The most rewarding was that I wrote every song by myself, in my living room, and I’m super proud of that. From coming out of a depression, back to the height of where people expected me to be was a huge accomplishment. And of course the fan reaction and the love shown is amazing.
For Tik Tok, etc. When I come across a person who thinks my music is dope, I work on coming up with ways to attract them to other areas of my likeness.
nal mixes, I used ProTools 10. For the masters we used Mixcraft.
Because it wasn’t a conceptual project, I named it “I’m Back,” because the more I started to write and create, the more like myself I began to feel again.
I’m not really into just one artist, per se. I’m listening to a lot of Meg Thee Stallion, Lil Baby, Young Thug, K Camp, and my dog Rich Homie Quan has new music on the way, that I was able to hear, that I think is pretty awesome.
I love to watch basketball. I love to socialize, but with Covid I have not been able to do as much of that as I normally do. I think my favorite thing to do is travel and experience different environments and cultures. I love to constantly learn by watching documentaries, and researching / reading things for hours. I love to spend my time with my dog, Panama Jack. I like to stay productive. I’m still working on getting into acting. I’m looking to venture out soon as a business owner.
2013 was the year Kordoroy got his start in the music world, just like many artists he began on SoundCloud and he released music under his former stage name “Immerze” – but it was in 2018 that he released his self-titled debut album “Kordoroy Floyd” that garnered attention with his slightly different sound, his lyrical ability and his songwriting.
Title: Show Some Love ft. sonofsteve
Label: Skink
Dutch duo Showtek brings a message of hope to the current tumultuous global landscape with their new track “Show Some Love” ft. sonofsteve, out now on their label Skink. Opening with a classic progressive buildup, Showtek quickly proves their ability to step outside of the genre by incorporating a deep, funky bassline and organic instrumental melodies to the track’s soulful vocals. With lyrics like “if there is just one word that will always win, no matter where you’re from, the color of your skin,” the duo uses their music to spread a message of inclusivity, positivity, and love that has always been at the heart of dance music culture – and the world needs it now more than ever. True to Showtek‘s dynamic style, “Show Some Love” is an emotional vocal dance track that also resonates on the dance floor. Read on for the inspiration behind the new single:
“With this song we’re continuing to spread a positive message through our music, that hopefully brings people together in a time of divide. This year has been turbulent for everybody. Not only because of the pandemic, but also because of the systemic racism that has finally been brought to light. We felt it was time to spread some love and give the people something positive to listen to. We want our fans to know that we love them no matter what skin color, religion, sexuality or gender. We believe in a world where everybody is treated equally and where you can live together in our differences, that’s what makes us all beautiful.“
Brothers Wouter and Sjoerd Janssen – better known together as Showtek – have made a name for themselves in the international dance scene with their high-energy, beat-driven style that has produced many a festival anthem. Their initial success in the hardstyle realm with tracks like “FTS” made them a household name, and they have continued to develop and evolve their style into the dynamic, genre-crossing sound we know and love today. Their hits such as “Believer” with Major Lazer (which is certified Gold), “Booyah” or “Bad” with David Guetta, their single “We Like To Party,” and their cover of Moby‘s “Natural Blues” have become dance classics heard around the world. The brothers lead their label Skink, which has releases from the likes of Henry Fong, Gammer, Sidney Samson, MAKJ, and more. Showtek has proven again that they are nowhere near being finished their musical journey, and we can’t wait to see what they come up with next!
Title: Santa Claus Is Coming To Town
Label: Smash The House
Just in time to cure the winter blues, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and R3HAB team up to put a spin on a classic with their rework of “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town.” The three all-star producers infuse the original’s singsong melodies with a deep, groovy bassline and percussive synths during the chorus, complementing the dance-friendly vibes with distorted vocals. This is not the childhood tune of your memories; the “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town” makes for a merry and adult-friendly version of the old favorite. Although the continuing global pandemic has many of us celebrating differently (and distantly) this year, R3HAB and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike wanted to bring their listeners a little bit of winter joy.
“It’s always a good time working with Dimitri & Mike, and we’re excited to share our version of this classic record with everyone. We want this to be a gift to our listeners and a reminder that winter is a season for happiness and togetherness. Be generous and good to each other, and remember good things are ahead.” – R3HAB
“It’s always fun getting in the studio with R3HAB. We have a great synergy and know each other’s strengths, so the ideas always flow naturally. After a tough year, we hope we can spread some positivity over winter and give something back to the people that continue to support us.” – Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike
Dutch/Moroccan DJ and producer Fadi El Ghoul, better known as R3HAB, has been trailblazing his way through dance music for the better part of the last decade. From his breakthrough hit remix of Afrojack, Pitbull and Ne-Yo‘s “Give Me Everything” to his dance anthems, such as “All Around The World (La La La)” and “Lullaby,” which have collectively amassed over 600M streams, to his collaborations with the likes of ZAYN, Andy Grammer, Sofia Carson, Timmy Trumpet and more, R3HAB has proven to be one of the most talented and forward-thinking artists in the game. He partnered with Spotify and GATTÜSO to create the first-ever official “mint” single release. In 2016 he founded his label CYB3RPVNK, which passed one billion streams on its catalog within the first two years since its inception. R3HAB himself continues to evolve and diversify his sound by working with a variety of artists around the globe, experimenting with everything from hip-hop to pop through his collaborations. With his combination of innate artistry and innovative attitude, R3HAB is continuing his journey. Keep an eye out for what’s next!
Since their debut in 2007, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike have been making waves with hits like “The Hum,” “Higher Place” in collaboration with Neo, and “Hey Baby” with Diplo, all of which went Platinum and spent record amounts of time on the Billboard Dance chart. Further flexing their prowess, the brothers teamed up with Hans Zimmer for a rework of “Dead Men Tell No Tales” from the 5th installment of Pirates of the Caribbean. Then teamed up with David Guetta and Kiiara on “Complicated,” which has almost 150 million streams on Spotify and over 80 million Youtube views, and released one of the biggest songs of the summer 2019 “Instagram,” which also featured David Guetta, Afro Bros, Daddy Yankee and Natti Natasha. Pairing these chart-topping accomplishments with a packed tour schedule that has included Tomorrowland, EXIT festival, Creamfields, EDC Las Vegas, and more, the world has fallen in love with the duo’s high-energy performances and dynamic style. Always evolving with the times, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike are certainly ones to watch.
THE VIOLET WHISPERS is the brainchild of a rising Sydney Based Non-Binary musician, Nikhil Murthy. Their explosive singles HEAVEN KNOWS & ROADS IN PARIS have been met with wide acclaim & accolades both in nationally & internationally notable outlets such as Amnplify, Good Intent, Happy Mag, Mystic Sons, Eternity Network, The Partae, Hysteria Mag, The Band Next Door on 2ser, The Bridge on FBI Radio, Alyx Plays Punk, Peripheral Noise on Three D Radio 93.7fm), Music for The Misfits & The Backbeat Podcast.
Their intimate & delightful new single FLOATING is a change of pace from the raucous & exuberant sounds of past singles. The fragility & vulnerability in Nikhil’s voice as it soars over folk-laden acoustic guitars, tranquil pianos, subtle electronic soundscapes, soulful grooves & psychedelic guitar flourishes builds to an emotionally climax that we have not been privileged to hear until now.
”This is me at my most honest & raw. This song acts as a diary of a time in my life when I felt so emotionally, physically & spiritually removed from the core of myself that I felt absolutely disillusioned by the world I existed in. Sometimes we need to turn to our loved ones to nurture us back to health & to simply remind us that we are worthy of all the wonderful things in this life.”

The dynamic collaboration of KLP and Stace Cadet this morning took to triple j’s Like A Version to cover Sia’s 2004 ballad ‘Breathe Me’.
The pair manage to add some dance moments to the ballad whilst maintaining the emotion of the classic anthem with Stace Cadet acknowledging “Breathe Me was the first time I was emotionally educated through a song.”
Whilst in the studio the duo also delivered a lively performance of their 2020 hit ‘Energy‘ which has cracked over 12 million streams and was nominated for Best Dance Release at this week’s ARIA Awards.
KLP summed up the experience saying “This year has been both weird and wonderful so to be able to come together with friends and cry happy/sad tears on the dance floor together was a pretty special experience.”
After a year delving into new sonic worlds of combining positive house grooves with the most unique corners of contemporary hip-hop, Young Franco has now unveiled his biggest weapon yet via ‘Fallin’ Apart’ which sees him collaborate with Miami rap mogul Denzel Curry and rising name Pell.
Welcoming the track in is it’s infectious sample of the great Steve Monite’s ‘Things Fall Apart’. Franco carves the sample brilliantly into his sonic palette, fusing it with infectious house drums, creating the bed for the track that is as easy to dance to as it is to strut to. Then enters Denzel Curry. Tenacious, hungry, witty and dominant are descriptions of Denzel Curry we’ve come to know and love and he channels that classic energy directly. Moulding perfectly with the Young Franco’s sound, it’s as expected a match made in heaven. Holding down the back end of the track is New Orleans bred, Jackson based Pell. A name to watch out for, Pell brings a unique energy to the track with his infectious flow gliding brilliantly atop the tracks ringing synths.
Denzel Curry is an artist with career highlight after highlight. Rising through hip-hop’s Soundcloud era underground with prolific collective Raider Klan, Curry quickly made a name for himself as one of the most unique voices in a new generation of internet inspired rap. From his viral 2015 hit ‘Ultimate’, to a pair of critically acclaimed projects ‘TA13OO’ and ‘Zuu’ Denzel Curry has one of the globes biggest rap names. Most recently he wowed Australian audiences with his Triple J Like A Version of Rage Against the Machine’s ‘Bulls on Parade’ placing at 5th in Triple J’s Hottest 100 in 2019.
Denzel Curry only adds to the flames that Young Franco and Pell have already created off the back of two collaborative singles. The earlier of the two, ‘Juice’, released in early 2020 created career highlights for both artists. It spent 9 weeks perched at the #1 position in Spotify’s flagship indie playlist Front Left, BBC Radio 1 Spins from Annie Mac and Molly King, as well as featuring as Zane Lowe’s ‘Next Wave’ artist on Beats1. Young Franco has also recently joined an elite crop of songwriters, with his track ‘Miss You’ featuring Maribelle receiving gold accreditation in Australia.
Where are you currently based?
I am currently based in Auckland, New Zealand.
How did you first start playing music?
So I started playing music in High school when I started learning guitar with my best friend from then I continued to teach myself how to play whilst also writing terrible teen angst songs that had literally no substance to them at all haha, although my friend and I made this one song called C#ck Flavoured Lollipop one arvo and I gotta be real, it was a certified banger. Unfortunately no one will ever be able to hear it lol. Now I officially started producing when I was 22 my homie Hatch gave me a crack version of ableton live 8 and taught me the basics, and the rest is history.
What’s been happening recently and how has your Covid experience been so far?
Covid has actually been pretty good for me. Since the whole pandemic dropped I’ve had more time to focus on my music and write more songs with better production quality. It’s also given me alot more incentive to pursue and achieve the goals I had sidelined up until now. So yeah all in all 2020 Covid for me? Easy.
Your new single ‘I Can’t Even’ is out now, what influenced the sound and songwriting?
So going into the making of this track I was bumping a lot of 80’s R&B and disco eg. Evelyn Champagne King/Billy Ocean/ George Benson etc. Thus I had that whole vibe in my head when I went looking for key samples and also in creating the drums.
How did you go about writing ‘I Can’t Even’?
For the lyrical side of the song I had just come to the end of a pretty overwhelming relationship, I won’t get too deep into details but let’s just say the whole thing was bad enough for me to write a song about it. I think the best thing about this track and honestly my favourite thing about most of the tracks that I love listening to is that, it’s heaviness is filtered through a bouncy groove that can really make you miss the darker theme if you’re not paying attention to the lyrics. Although I will say its as heavy as I’m making out to be but still haha.
Where and when did you record/produce and who did you work with?
So I originally produced, wrote and recorded the track in 2017 in my bedroom and ended up benching it for a few years until the start of this year when came I back to it and decided to completely rework the whole thing. Writing/Recording/Mixing was all me. But the mastering was done by Ben Feggans @ 301 he’s an absolute legend.
How did you approach the recording process?
The same way I do with almost every track, I usually lay down the verses first which can take anywhere from 5 mins to a whole day depending on how on point I am. Then I’ll lay down the hooks/choruses/adlibs either straight after or the next day.
What programs/equipment did you use?
My setup is super simple to be honest. For ‘I Can’t Even’ and basically all of my tracks and beats etc. I work in Ableton on my laptop. And I recorded the vocals using a Rodes NT2A condenser mic connected to a focusrite solo audio interface, and I had a pair of 5 ” JBL monitors for mixing.
Who are you listening to at the moment?
Well right now I’m bumping alot of D smoke’s ‘Black Habits’ album and Logic’s ‘No Pressure’ album and I’ve also had Pete & Bas in heavy rotation! If you’re a hiphop head and haven’t heard Lightwork Freestyle or Window Frame Cypher then you need to hand back your culture card… that’s all I’m saying.
What do you like to do away from music?
When I’m not making music, I like to Cook/Game/Binge anime/Youtube and eat said cooking. All the good stuff you know.
What’s planned for the remainder of 2020 going into 2021?
So for the backend of 2020 my plan is to keep writing and recording new music/music videos and hopefully get a couple super dope colabs finished, so that when 2021 makes it’s way around I’ll have a metric shit ton of content for all my fans and potential fans out there.
Favourite food and place to hangout?
Easy, Hong Ha IYKYK
And if I was still in Sydney I’d have to say anywhere around the city circle ie. Chinatown, Darling Harbour, Broadway etc.
SUPPORT FOR ‘GIRLS’ FT. DOOLIE
“Impressive from start to finish, this one is a total winner.”
– Purple Sneakers (AUS)
Added to Spotify playlists New Music Friday (AU/NZ + IND), New Dance Beats and The Local List
Following on from their critically praised single ‘Tremble’ featuring the incomparable LÂLKA, Melbourne-based producer duo Chores have returned with their new single ‘Girls’ featuring Brisbane-based pop artist DOOLIE.
The track is an exquisitely produced dance-floor filler, opening with DOOLIE’s enticing vocals as they meld with slow-building soundscapes and delicate hi-hats. The choruses explode with euphoria as uplifting synths and thumping bass lines envelop the track. The song briefly pulls back into a delicate bridge full of breathtaking harmonies, before ending with a triumphant final chorus.
Chores talk about the process behind ‘Girls’:
“Working with an artist like DOOLIE was a dream come true for us, someone who is so authentic and has a distinct image and brand was awesome. We revised the track a few times, but a singer of her prowess meant it was easy to get the results required. Once again, the whole concept was created during lockdown, so we weren’t able to get in the studio together but managed to make it work remotely through collaborative working from home efforts.”
Previous releases have been widely embraced by Spotify and radio stations triple j, triple j Unearthed, FBi, 4ZZZ, RTR FM, The Edge and George FM (NZ). They’ve also seen support from online tastemakers Pilerats, Acid Stag, Stoney Roads, Purple Sneakers and Surviving the Golden Age (USA). The duo have also won several awards, including ‘Best Electronic Act’ at the 2018 New Zealand Music Awards and ‘Breakthrough Artist’ at the Georgies in 2017.
Chores have spent years honing their craft, DJing and performing as a full band at New Zealand festivals Rhythm and Vines, Northern Bass, Bay Dreams and Deep Hard N Funky, as well as supporting dance music luminaires Basement Jaxx, What So Not, Duke Dumont, Peking Duk, The Chainsmokers and A-Trak.
In the coming weeks, Chores will reveal an accompanying music video for ‘Girls’ ft. DOOLIE.

PRAISE FOR ‘MASSIVE CHECKS’
“It’s another masterclass in unhinged, eccentric punk.”
– Hysteria Magazine (AUS)
Melbourne-based DIY post-punk artist KAI CULT has just revealed his warped new single ‘Massive Checks’ – produced by the artist himself and mixed by Ashwin Rao from the Singaporean Garage Rock band Knightingale.
Opening with grinding bass lines, atmospheric guitar vibrato and commanding sung-spoken lead vocals, ‘Massive Checks’ is a party punk anthem for the dystopian present. Foreboding tones scatter across the record as the track takes a momentary dip, before launching into an eccentric outro, full of piercing guitar solos.
KAI CULT talks about the inspiration behind ‘Massive Checks’:
“’Massive Checks’ is a post-apocalyptic dance-punk song, apt for these dystopian times. I wrote it in jest to the irony of millennial living, where the work-life balance is grossly unbalanced, and we’re just working to acquire more and more materialistic goods while we descend further into debt. I also wanted to combine my love of hip-hop to a dance-able post-punk beat.”
In conjunction with the release, KAI CULT will reveal the accompanying video clip, filmed by the DIY artist across his Melbourne neighbourhood through two lockdowns. He mentions, “the film follows me as I navigate a post-apocalyptic city in flames – not too dissimilar to the one we exist in right now. 99% of the clip was the original content I created myself. I filmed the backgrounds with my phone and my camera against a green screen, and created my animations using After Effects”.
KAI CULT is the garage-noise-meme-punk project of Louis Fuji, combining diverse influences from Asia with the jarring sounds of garage-rock and post-punk, taking cues from luminaires Nirvana, Amyl & The Sniffers and IDLES. Louis continues, “I grew up in South-East Asia, and I am the product of their vibrant underground scene. I wanted to incorporate elements of internet memes and aesthetic culture into the video as I feel a lot of rock bands are trying to capture the visuals of the past”.
Previous releases, as part of former projects, have seen support from the likes of ABC’s Rage, Hysteria Magazine and Melbourne tastemaker radio 3RRR.

SUPPORT FOR ‘THIN SKIN’
“A song that moulds together swaying guitar melodies with rather quite enchanting vocals, deep with this emotional brightness that captures the group’s drive to share these meaningful bursts of indie-pop.”
– Pilerats (AUS)
Brisbane-based indie-pop group Sunflower have just unveiled tour dates and their anthemic new single ‘Thin Skin’ – produced and mixed by bassist Sam Woods at the band’s Brisbane-based home studios.
Continuing on their path to inspire hope and meaning in this confusing world, ‘Thin Skin’ is a sanguine side-step from their previous feel-good singles and offers an unseen vulnerability to their empowering song writing. The illuminating warmth of the grand piano enveloped by an intrinsic blend of rock and orchestra marks this a significant point of sonic development for the band.
Co-vocalist / co-songwriter Kahlia Ferguson describes the motivation behind ‘Thin Skin’:
“Thin Skin” is about accepting that life is going to deal you difficult cards sometimes, and letting go of anything that doesn’t add value to your life is one way you can beat the darkness. You can be your own worst enemy if you let the difficulties of life tear away at you. We only get one life, might as well learn to love it.”
To coincide with the release, the band will play at Crafted Beer & Cider Festival on the Gold Coast, Lords Mayor’s Christmas Carols in Brisbane (televised on Channel 9), The Northern, Byron Bay and Mountain Goat Valley Crawl, Brisbane. This continues on from recent performances at Yonder Festival in Imbil, Valley Fiesta, Brisbane and a sold-out headlining show at Black Bear Lodge.
Previous singles ‘Better Days’ and ‘Get Yourself Together’ were widely embraced by the likes of triple j, triple j Unearthed, Amazing Radio (UK) and a slew of community radio stations. The tracks also received support from blogs Atwood Magazine (USA), Classic Rock Magazine (UK), The Music, Beat Magazine, and TV outlets MTV and ABC’s Rage.
In the coming weeks Sunflower will reveal an accompanying music video for ‘Thin Skin’.

PRAISE FOR ‘PRESSURE’
“It’s an album that seems to capture the broadness of SCABZ’ sound; the pub-punk of acts like Bad//Dreems, the pop of The Divinyls and Stevie Nicks, the mania of acts like Royal Headache all coming together with a deeper emphasis for lyricism that separates SCABZ from the pack.”
– Pilerats (AUS)
“[‘Guess Who?’] is further evidence that SCABZ are Australia’s unwavering punk heroes.”
– Life Without Andy (AUS)
Lead single ‘Guess Who?’ premiered on triple j’s Home & Hosed
Focus track ‘Just At The Pub (Gossin’ With The Gals)’ added to Spotify playlist ‘New Punk Tracks’
Dharawal and Gadigal country-based punk trio SCABZ have just revealed their ingenious debut album ‘Pressure’ – produced and mixed by Dan Antix at Defwolf Studios.
‘Pressure’ is ten tracks of high-octane punk rock, dripping with the sharp wit and fierce attitude of lead singer Siobhan Poynton. The self-proclaimed ‘Newtown’s shittest band’ exude ferocious performances, complemented by driving bass lines, piercing guitar chords and propelling percussion.
Opener ‘Used’ kicks off the album with thudding bass lines and reverberating guitar, slowly building into a hostile frenzy full of sharp hi-hats and pumping bass drums. Title track ‘Pressure’ is next up, full of offbeat guitar chords and a steadfast beat, taking cues from punk luminaries The Sex Pistols, The Clash and Joy Division.
Lead single and third track ‘Guess Who?’ is a political, satire-drenched commentary on the NSW Police, including unexpected saxophone provided by True Vibenation’s Vuli. This leads to fourth track ‘Heart Of Nothing’, a self-reflecting look at mental health and depression.
The album is split down the middle by conversational crooner ‘Covid I Reckon’, a light-hearted and summery mirroring of classic COVID yarns. Focus track ‘Just At The Pub (Gossin’ With The Gals)’ kicks off the second half of the album, featuring a heaving bass line, as the track bounces between the light dialogue of its verses and the potent vigour of its choruses.
Track seven ‘Kick Ons’ is a pocket rocket of a track, at one minute and twenty seconds, it parallels Australian punk legends such as Frenzal Rhomb in its explosive nature and hilarious commentary. Continuing on this sentiment is ‘Double Dole’ and ‘Vegan Magnums’, both joyous Australiana anthems erupting in riff-centric euphoria, ripe for backyard sing-alongs.
Closer ‘Julia Gillard’s Misogyny Speech’ is a rousing, intense reflection of the original parliamentary speech, full of ominous instrumentation and earnest vocals, ending the album on a definitive punk-rock moment.
