Australia’s indie rock future is in good hands and for those looking for the next wave, they’re coming to a venue near you. Kicking their own goals separately, Melbourne’s Teenage Dads and NSW Central Coast’s The Moving Stills now team up for a huge memory making mission. Stepping off in WA this March, co-headliner ‘The Antics Roadshow’ sees both groups combine for shows and shenanigans across four states and one territory throughout March and April.
Prepare to witness The Moving Stills’ sweet garage, indie vibes and acoustic driven numbers colliding with Teenage Dads 60s throwbacks and rich melodies during what will be some very special live dates. For Teenage Dads, choosing to go on tour with The Moving Stills was an easy decision. After playing with the band on a few shows together in 2019, they decided they could put up with each other for an extended period of time with the added bonus of exploring new parts of the country. “We’re just two young bands getting together, hitting the road and seeing what happens. If there was anything we wanted people to get out of this tour, it would be to look at it and think ‘wow, that looks fun,” says Vincent Kinna of the band.
With new single ‘Adrenaline Rush’ arriving next Thursday 20 February, Teenage Dads join the tour already warmed up. They land fresh from an appearance at St Kilda Festival, NYE on the Hill and a national run with Lime Cordiale on their ‘Robbery’ tour in late 2019. Self-made, self managed and incredibly fun live, Teenage Dads have managed to pump out two EPs and a debut album in just two consecutive laps around the sun. With plenty of juice to land in 2020, the live shows will give fans a first chance to hear more new material to be released in 2020.
The Moving Stills have been anything but idle in the last few months. Their latest single ‘Stick Around’ saw multiple Spotify editorial playlist additions including Chords + Cardigans and the road trip inspired video for the track recently landed via triple j Unearthed. And next week they’ll be triple j Unearthed artists of the week. The band are seasoned live performers, with sets at BIGSOUND, Big Pineapple Festival and Mountain Sounds Festival in their stage arsenal. Working on a debut EP for release in 2020, The Moving Stills are frothing to test out some of the unreleased tunes on audiences across the country as they bring their sticky surf-rock style to ‘The Antics Roadshow’.
With two of Australia’s most exciting emerging acts teaming up this two for one style event is a no brainer. There’s plenty of gas in the tank, plenty of tomfoolery to be had and plenty of great music to be shared. Tickets for ‘The Antics Roadshow’ featuring Teenage Dads and The Moving Stills are on sale now.

Continuing to stamp their way through the early months of 2020, Sydney’s WAWAWOW present a brand new set of off the rails material in their new album, Pink Elephant. Energetic and charged up, the record is the band at their fiery best. Warping and manipulating sounds and influences from across an array of genres at each turn, the four-piece demonstrates flair and a skill for distilling this broad range of influences into a sound completely their own.
Sitting at 13 tracks strong, the band flexes their creative muscle stronger than ever before, fusing indie and electro with a great dash of psych-craziness (‘Rat Porridge’, ‘Elephant Bird’). Recent single, ‘The Big Cookoff’, was an early example of the madness WAWAWOW executed on record. Yet as Pink Elephant continues to roll out, the listener gets a more defined perspective of the band’s vision.
Over various studio and jam sessions, the album came together organically as the band riffed off each other’s energy and ideas. Capturing the essence of WAWAWOW as naturally as possible remained key to the process. “We wanted to find a way to capture the very first jams that we cut together and use them, rather than try later and fail to get the spark.” WAWAWOW
Applying the same attitude to their visuals, the music video for ‘The Big Cookoff’ brings animation courtesy of Shaun Allen together with band and location footage in Sydney, sizing up brilliantly with the batshit nature of the song itself. “This track is our love/hate letter to Sydney in a lot of ways, so we wanted to get in as much of the city as possible. We then used stop motion animation to create the dark but cartoonish version of the city that matched the ridiculousness of the music.” WAWAWOW

SUPPORT FOR ‘FALLING OUT’
“I feel like I’ve just swallowed a chilli. it’s got heat from start to finish when you think it’s peaked, there’s moments where it escalates hotter than I thought it could go”. – 4/5 stars
– Declan Byrne – triple j (AUS)
“’Falling Out’ is an excellent introduction to the band if you’re yet to get acquainted, opening with distortion and a rough-around-the-edges tease that this isn’t going to be a clean or overly-polished rock song”.
– PIlerats (AUS)
“‘Falling Out’ comes out snarling, going straight for the jugular with the kind of cyclonic energy that can only be captured through the lens of vigorous punk rock”.
– Blunt Magazine (AUS)
Added to Spotify playlist ‘New Punk Tracks’
Following the release of their latest single ‘Falling Out’, Sydney-based punk band FANGZ have returned with its hectic accompanying video clip – directed by Joel McDonald and Reece Grogan from Yeah Rad Creative.
Filmed in the bathroom of Jacoby’s Tiki Bar in Enmore, the clip is a rollercoaster ride of frenetic performances from the band, intercut with classic late-night examples of bathroom occurrences. These cutaways show people becoming best friends, sneaking drinks in, arguing, making out and passing out. It also features Tom Kennedy from Bare Bones singing the bridge and Adrian the owner mopping the bathroom floor at the end.
FANGZ talk about the production behind the clip:
“The night before the shoot FANGZ were drinking at Jacoby’s until close for Jameel’s birthday and we turned up the next day on two hours sleep. The cutaway scenes in the toilet cubicle were all shot on a static camera to give it a very 90’s feel. We put the call out looking for about 10 extras and ended up with about 30 people and having to make up scenes on the fly. One thing we didn’t take into account was how much the bathroom would echo during playback which made it very challenging to hear”.
To coincide with the release, the band will embark on an East Coast run of headline shows with dates in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane. This continues on from an unrelenting 2019 touring schedule, which saw them perform a sold-out EP launch at The Chippo, before touring with Aussie mainstays Gyroscope, and landing support slots with Canadian hardcore-punk heavyweights Cancer Bats and Comeback Kid.
Since release the track has seen support from Spotify, triple j, triple j Unearthed, Pilerats, Blunt Magazine and SYN FM. Previous singles were strongly praised by Music Feeds, Hysteria Magazine and Australian community radio, including 4ZZZ, Aussie Music Weekly, 2RRR and Radio Adelaide.

“Part of the next generation of Australian house music producers” – triple j
“Filled with the sort of sounds you would expect to hear at a bright disco in a very dank basement” – Form
“A house music inquisitor of the finest calibre…His beats bounce across the clouds like a love-filled Cupid chasing his next target.” – Beat Magazine
“Melbourne’s Cassettes For Kids has probably given us one of this year’s best dance releases” – AAA Backstage
“Finely woven lo-fi infused beats to sooth your disco craving ears” – Stoney Roads
Predicted as “Australia’s electronic breakthrough artist of 2019” by Finding Figaro, Melbourne-based producer is living up to the hype with his latest release ‘Dreams’, a two track EP infusing elements of acid and garage house.
Following the success of his collaboration with James Pepper ‘See The Light / If You Only Knew’ mid last year, ‘Dreams’ delivers two crisp house tracks in the midst of Australia’s festival season.
The title track ‘Dreams’ features a sample handpicked from a 1970s blues track. Being the longest song he’s ever released, ‘Dreams’ was influenced by the early stages of a relationship, when the other person is the centre of your world.
Drawing inspiration from house heavyweights John Wink and Bicep, the following track ‘Black Mesa’ contrasts dreamy melodies with acid basslines, in a way that distinguishes it from other acid break tracks.
“I wanted the two elements to crash together and felt that emotive edge is what makes my sound in a way,” explains producer Zak Degenhardt.
Cassettes For Kids has a number of shows under his belt such as Pitch Music and Arts (preview here), Lost Paradise, The Wool Store Warehouse, Duke Street Block Party as well as headlining Australia’s best clubs – XE54 & Civic Underground and securing a coveted slot on triple j’s mix up segment. Always a trusted selector, he has warmed dancefloors for the likes of DJ Koze, KiNK, ANNA, John Talabot and many more. Well-respected by his contemporaries, Cassettes For Kids’ tunes have been spun by the likes of Black Loops & Kettama. Even featuring in Kettama’s recent Rinse FM mix.
EP is available digitally via. Daily Nightly.

Ben UFO is an artist adept at making a wide range of genres accessible. Traversing the sounds of techno, drum n bass, garage, and acid, he maintains firm foundations in UK rave. In the club, his sets manage to appear simultaneously thought out, and also spontaneously off the cuff. Not afraid to jump from a distorted broken rhythm into a bass heavy four-to-the-floor groove, his selective prowess and long list of dance floor oddities has earned him sets at Panorama Bar, Fabric, Tokyo’s Air, and a string of notorious international venues.
As the co-founder of Hessle Audio record label alongside Pearson Sound and Pangaea, the Hessle imprint delves into the various sounds that Ben UFO showcases in his sets. Housing works from FJAAK, Ryan Elliott, Radio Slave, Marcel Vogel, Jacques Renault and Cassegrain, Hessle Audio has undoubtedly played a role in Ben UFO’s creative evolution. As a DJ, his contributions to fabric Live mix series, Resident Advisor and BBC Radio 1 with a 2013 Essential Mix exquisitely showcase his talent, and assert his status as one of the industries most beloved DJs. Following a stand-out performance at Pitch Music & Arts 2018 alongside a full-house showcase at Revolver Upstairs, we’re excited to welcome Ben UFO back to the cage.

US multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and producer CLAIRO has announced her return to Australia in support of her debut album Immunity. She brings her captivating live show to Fremantle’s Freo.Social on Tuesday 28 April, Melbourne’s Max Watt’s on Thursday 30 April, Brisbane’s The Triffid on Tuesday 5 May, and Sydney’s Metro Theatre on Wednesday 6 May. Clairo will also tour the country as part of Groovin’ The Moo 2020.
Returning after last year’s sold out shows and stand-out Laneway Festival sets, the lo-fi pop prodigy left local audiences raving:
“… her musical production screams years of experience.” – Scenestr
“… soaring melodies and enticing choruses.” – Tone Deaf
Deeply moved by the Australian bushfire crisis, Clairo has decided to donate all proceeds from her headline dates to bushfire relief charities; Fire Relief Fund For First Nations Communities, Foodbank and Animals Australia.
Clairo’s unique brand of dream-pop sees intimate confessions laid delicately over washed out textures and clean beats. Since first experiencing viral fame with the sardonic smash ‘Pretty Girl’ – that has since amassed 45 million views on YouTube and 96 million streams on Spotify – she has more than proved her skills, with self-produced smashes ‘Flaming Hot Cheetos’ and ‘4EVER’ coming next.
With last year’s stellar debut album Immunity, Clairo took her deeply felt songs from the bedroom to the world stage, cementing herself as a global force of indie-pop. Co-produced by Clairo and Rostam Batmanglij (formerly of Vampire Weekend), the record married her DIY roots with sophisticated production that took in trip-hop, indie-rock and hymns – punctuated by her now-trademark diaristic lyricism.
“The uptempo tracks are breezy and chill; the ballads are lush and deeply felt.” – Pitchfork
“Clairo is a superstar …the album is bulletproof from start to finish.” – Zane Lowe / Beats 1
Clairo’s crystalline voice has been widely sought-after, and she features on the tracks ‘February 2017’ by Charli XCX, ‘Are You Bored Yet’ by Wallows, ‘I Don’t Think I Can Do This Again’ by Mura Masa, ‘Better’ with SG Lewis, and more.
As well as touring with Tyler, The Creator; Khalid and Dua Lipa, Clairo has appeared at Coachella, Lollapalooza and Pitchfork Music Fest, and delivered gob-smacking performances on Ellen and Jimmy Kimmel Live. Audiences in the US will soon be treated to her live set when she supports Tame Impala on their upcoming tour.
Step into Clairo’s intimate universe when she returns to Australia in April and May 2020.
