The Beverly Chills release Heaven’s Gate religious cult themed video for “Loner”
Produced by Liam Somerville of Capital Waste Pictures, the new video from The Beverly Chills sees the two-headed punk band parody the UFO millenarian religious cult, Heaven’s Gate. This group based in San Diego, California, eventually saw 39 of it’s members transcend beyond human state, in order to reach what they believed was an extra-terrestrial spacecraft circling the Earth.
The followers participated in castration, gave up their material possessions and adopted uniform track suits with Nike sneakers, before fatally consuming poison in 1997.
The Loner video features authentic hard copy tape of Heaven’s Gate founder “Do” (AKA Marshall Applewhite). This tape was hand sent by the sole remaining member to the producer of The Beverly Chills new clip.
Loner is taken from The Beverly Chills’ latest EP titled Leave Me Hanging, which is out now via Los Angeles based Sick City Records.
