NxWorries announce ‘Yes Lawd! Remixes’ album

NXWORRIES ANNOUNCES YES LAWD! REMIXES ALBUM OUT FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 17 ON STONES THROW VIA INERTIA MUSIC “BEST ONE (REMIX)” OUT NOW

NxWorries is Grammy award-winning producer, Knxwledge and breakout star of 2017, Anderson .Paak. Following the release of their album Yes Lawd!, which Pitchfork described as “two artists working at the absolute height of their talents“, NxWorries is back today to announce Yes Lawd! Remixes, a new reworking of their acclaimed debut out Friday, November 17 on Stones Throw via Inertia Music.

It only made sense for Knxwledge, being the prolific remixer that he is, to remix his own album, adding a new interpretation to the tracks featuring Anderson .Paak’s vocals. The first transmissions of this were previously shared in the epilogue of the “Scared Money” video which contained Knxwledge’s remix of “Best One“.

LISTEN TO “BEST ONE RMX”

Yes Lawd! As tempting as it may be to just let that exclamation suffice as your sole introduction to NxWorries, we should go a little deeper. The men at the heart of Yes Lawd! – make an exceedingly clean pair, even as they deal almost entirely in the gritty: vocals that sound lived in for a couple of lifetimes; beats that kick up dust as they bump; and a 19-track set that plays like a mixtape merging skits, songs, and snippets into a package of fluid groove and rough-cut rap ‘n’ soul gems. You may have heard these two out in the world, on their own or sprinkling some of their musical gold dust on someone else’s songs, but this is what happens when they get home, lay back, light up, and let it go.

On Yes Lawd!, .Paak – who calls the album “my best work” – plays a theatrically brash version of himself who sings like a ’70s superstar and talks shit like a stone cold player. But the performance is seeded with details from his life, which has seen a fair share of struggle and hard-won triumph. Meanwhile, Knx weaves a tapestry of sampled bits and live fragments-bass, brass and violin-that smooths everything over, reminding us that despite whatever struggle it took to get here… well, you already know the name: NxWorries.

PRAISE FOR YES LAWD!

“Yes Lawd! is another accomplishment in Anderson .Paak’s continued rise,
a beautiful beat tape made with the producer Knxwledge that nods
to classic Stones Throw duos.”

Pitchfork

“One of the best albums of 2016.”
Complex

“Album with this much flair and originality is hard to fault.”
The Guardian, 5 stars

“They say you should never go home with a first date, but after one listen
of NxWorries’ debut Yes Lawd! I’m ready to go home with it, move in
together, open a joint bank account and get married to the
smoothest album of the year.”

STACK

“Yes Lawd! is an album that feels alive, a living and breathing object
that nods to the past while staying in the present”

The FADER

“The inspired combo of Paak’s soulful rasp and Knxwledge’s
crate-digging sample…makes this album something special in
a year that’s already filled with strong R&B LPs”
