Where are you currently based? And what is the music scene like there?
I’m based in Stuttgart/Germany, the city where Mercedes and Porsche comes from 🙂
The music scene here is pretty mixed. We have a lot of clubs that only play Chart- and Hip-Hop music but we do also have some electronic music clubs here.
Your new remix of Tyler Cordy’s cheap situation is out now! How has this track been going for you?
The remix was so much fun to work on. Working with Tyler is always super easy, since we both have kind of the same work ethic. The feedback I received on this remix so far has been great and I still get messages every day about it which is fantastic!
How did you come to remix this track?
I’ve met Tyler in a studio session we both had together in New York. It was so much fun working together so we continued staying in touch over mail and Faceboook. He then released the original back in 2017 and I loved it so I reached out to him asking him if I could try something with it. He immediately liked the idea, so I started working on it.
What programs do you use?
I work with Logic X and a lot of Waves plugins. I also love the build-in plugins that come with Logic. I think they have probably one of the best build-in sounds out of all DAWs.
How did you get into music / remixing?
My dad has a background in the music industry, working with a lot of electronic music labels, so I was in touch with that particular music from a very young age. I then saw videos of Tiesto performing at Disney-Land in front of thousands of people when I was 16, at this point I wanted to experience the same one day and started working on my own music.
You have reached over 50 million streams !! A massive achievement, what do you attribute to your success? What advice would you give to people just starting out in the remixing world?
I think one of the key factors of my success is that I always make sure that my melodies sit right in my productions. Melodies are the key to a good song in my opinion. No better how good of a quality production you have, if your melody is not good, you’ll probably have a harder time reaching a bigger amount of people with the track.
Who are you listening to at the moment?
I love to listen to Loote and two other Swedish guys called NOTD. They are absolutely killing it right now!
Favourite 3 artists?
The Chainsmokers, Cheat Codes, Throttle
You have remixed tracks for Alessia Cara, OMI, Pitbull and Shaggy to name a few, how do you usually choose which tracks you will work with?
I usually get e-mails, asking if I want to do a remix of a specific song. Of course getting the chance to work with such big artists is a big honor for me, but if I don’t like the track and if I’m not feeling that I can deliver something that meets my own expectations, I tend to not remix it, even if it’s a big name.
What are the greatest challenges of remixing and working with other artists?
I think working on remixes is always tricky, since you don’t want to ruin the original feeling of a song but at the same time you want to turn it into something different and bring in something fresh/new that is different to the original.
What do you have planned for 2018?
I will release another big remix this month for a well established artist that we all know, which I’m super excited about. I’ll be also back on tour, playing at the World Club Cruise this April with Robin Schulz, Lucas & Steve, Nervo and many more!
Favourite food and place to hangout?
Definititely Sushi! We have a nice place here in Stuttgart called Sushi Le where you get some great Sushi and where you can have a great time with friends and family.
