How did you start?
In my early days as a teenager I began to listen loads of different music because of my father, he had a room where he stored all his music. Jazz, Disco, House and Hip Hop were all involved in my early days. Then at the age of 16 I went to my first house/techno orientated event and that’s where it all started for me. I felt really inspired to see someone have 100% control of the music and a crowd grooving and going crazy to a particular sound.
Where are you based?
I am based in Leiden, Netherlands.
Please give an example of your music writing process?
It depends on how I am feeling on the actual day, but I always start with finding a good kick, clap and hi hat combination, the grooves has to be special, different to other tracks I’ve made, I want every track to have this unique touch to it, so I try to have different sounds in every track.
What are you working on right now?
At this moment I am working on my 3rd EP on Robsoul Recordings from Phil Weeks. We actually planned the 2nd EP for October 2017 around Amsterdam Dance Event, so that’s cool. Also recently finished an EP with Prunk which will be released in July/August this summer, both EP’s will be vinyl + digital.
What is your gear setup?
For producing: Yamaha H5 speakers, midi keyboard, arturia keylab 49, tr8, maschine mk2.
For DJ’ing: 2x Reloop vinyl player + Xone mixer.
What do you like to do outside of music and does it affect your music?
Hang out with my best friends, cook a good meal or dinner. I go for a walk every morning, this clears my head so good, I’m fresh for the rest of the day and it keeps me very open minded towards my music interpretation.
How would you describe your music genre?
It’s house. I wouldn’t call it anything else, it could be a bit deeper, you can call it “deep house” or it could be more minimalistic you could call it more “minimal house” or more towards old school sound, “old school house”. But the overall sound is a good cross over between everything my ears like… Just HOUSE!
Do you know any music theory?
I have never had any music theory, it’s the working effort you have to put in to get to a point where you understand what certain effects or plugins can do for you.
What are your plans for the future?
I would be happy to do this for living, as long as I can pay my house and do the things I want I am happy to do this for a long time. Making and finding new music keeps me very motivated, as well as performances for a good crowd, these little things make this very special.
