What is your name and role within the band?
My name is Jack Bentham, I play guitar/ backing vocals in Strange Bones.
How did you start?
3 of us are brothers so we had an early induction into the world of punk rock from our parents. We have played in bands together since we were kids, Strange Bones started around 3 years ago.
Where are you based?
North west coast of England, Blackpool.
Please give an example of your music writing process?
It always starts with a riff, then various ideas are worked out on either side of that riff until something works. The process always varies, but it always starts with a riff.
What are you working on right now?
We are currently in the midst of designing and printing our next run of merch. We’ve got a little screen printing factory set up in our garage where we hand print all of our t shirts. Writing/recording new songs and playing a bunch of festivals this summer..
What is your gear setup?
I play a Fender telecaster through a Vox AC30, but I get my main tones from my homemade fuzz overdrives stomp boxes.
What do you like to do outside of music and does it affect your music?
I film and produce videos, including strange bones videos! We all do things outside of music that could never get in the way of the band.
How would you describe your music genre?
fuzzy punk rock n roll anti-tory sludge?
Do you know any music theory?
I would say we all have a pretty basic understanding of music theory, But ask me to sight read some sheet music and I would fall on my arse!
What are your plans for the future?
Our long term plan as a band is to build towards a debut album release, tour the world until we drop.
How did you get into music?
Growing up we had a very musical family, so naturally our parents edged us towards playing music. Over the years they taught us what they could and we naturally started to play music together.
