YOUNG FATHERS RELEASE “LORD” VIDEO New album set for release on Ninja Tune via Inertia Music in 2018

If wishes were horses, then beggars would ride

Having recently announced the completion of a new album – set for release on Ninja Tune via Inertia Music in 2018 – Young Fathers today present the video for “Lord“, directed by Rianne White.

Speaking about the “Lord” video, Young Fathers’ Alloysious Massaquoi states: “For me, the video stemmed from… Like how do you describe an emotion, clearly and precisely when you’re completely immersed in it all? An act of internal withdrawal from the outside world, when all you need from the outside world is for someone, anyone, to show they care.” while Graham ‘G’ Hastings add “Kayus brought a rocking horse into the studio one day. God knows why. After we wrote the song, Ally sat on it, took his top off and started riding majestic. Then we thought, why not?

Lands somewhere between the godlike nature of ‘The Life Of Pablo’
and the scuzzy electronics of ‘Yeezus’.

Marrying glitchy, industrial chaos with a choir’s soulful uplifting delivery, ‘Lord’
traverses through some pretty obscure terrain that doesn’t allow much room
for complacency. One minute you’re revelling in the soaring gospel-like
harmonies, the next a guitar thrashes through the tranquillity perking
you up ensuring you don’t let your guard down again.

A beautiful piece of music that deserves your attention.

Gospel gorgeousness.
