WHATS' COMING UP AT YAH YAHS! Green Buzzard "I Don't Want To Be Alone" Tour Friday 20th September, 8pm Green Buzzard – Live on the Yah Yahs bandstand for their first headline show in 2 years! Supports: Candy & Nat Vazer NOTE:Ticket entitles you to stick around for no extra charge for our late night party ’til 5AM! Sydney indie-rocker Green Buzzard will play at Yah Yahs this September, playing his first headline show since 2017. Hot off the back of supporting the UK’s Wolf Alice, Green Buzzard is itching to get onstage and showcase a swag of new music, including his latest buzzy and infectious single “I Dont Want To Be Alone”. Procuded by Dave Sitek “I Dont Want To Be Alone” marks a new chapter for Green Buzzard. Dialling back the distortion in a favour of a new found clarity and directness, the song allows Green Buzzard’s knack for writing an undeniable earworm to shine. The result is Green Buzzard at their most instant and most sophiscated. And unlike most band rooms, Yah Yah’s is open ’til 5AM so you can kick on and party for no extra charge! A quality live music venue located at 99 Smith Street, in the Fitzroy postcode. Can’t lose! BUY PRIORITY TICKETS Teen Jesus And The Jean Teasers Saturday 21st September, 8pm On Saturday September 21st Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers (ACT) will be appearing live on the Yah Yah’s bandstand! The Canberra based alt-rockers have been making waves of late, leaving behind their power-pop leanings as a high school group and emerge with a refined songwriting influence from the period punk broke in the nineties. This year’s singles “See You In A Bit (I Still Care)” and the recent “I Like That You Like That” have peaked the interest from fans of Siouxsie and the Banshees, the guitar sounds of Skeletal Family and the alt-rock explosion on display at the early years of Lollapalooza. Determined to develop as a band the old fashioned way, clocking up the kms in the tour van to support the likes of Alex Lahey, Press Club, Good Doogs and legacy acts like Spiderbait and the Hoodoo Gurus. Having appeared at Spilt Milk, Groovin The Moo and St Jerome’s Laneway Festival already, this Melbourne club show is off the back of a recent East Coast run supporting Slowly Slowly and being announced for Lost Paradise. And unlike most band rooms, Yah Yah’s is open ’til 5AM so you can kick on and party for no extra charge! A quality live music venue located at 99 Smith Street, in the Fitzroy postcode. The Melbourne five (sometimes six, sometimes seven) headed hydra Mesa Cosa will be rolling the supermarket trolley packed with their underground snake worshipping cult to bring an energetic show filled with dancing, mayhem, things breaking, people falling down, amps failing and tambourine sacrifices to our bandstand for a 2AM performance! Meanwhile, Private Function just slayed it at Bigsound music conference on the back of singles ‘Talking To Myself’ and punk Midnight Oil cover ‘King of the Mountain’ from new album St. Anger. The title and album artwork are less a homage to the infamous Metallica record of the same name, and more a leer at the metal behemoth’s tendency to sue. MEAT 2AM show at Yah Yah’s, following SCABZ (NSW) live and a guest DJ set from Drunk Mums!

Though not listed on the Australian Barbecue Alliance website, we’re hosting Meat on the Yah’s bandstand Friday November 15th for a special 2AM performance! Emerging from a recent six month odd hiatus, presumably out of one of those coal filled holes dug in the ground utilised to cook the Mexican influenced barbacoa/cow head, don’t miss the recent Pissfart Records signee bring their frenzied proto-punk assault to Yah Yah’s!

Their upcoming EP promises a hot sauce blend of heavy Sabbath/Necromandus 70’s riffage with the modern garage thunder of FUZZ and GOGGS and a thickly glazed bass throb that typically, can only be found in the great artery cloggin’ bbq halls of South Texas. Of note, the adrenaline inducing group don’t actually endorse the eating of meat as such, though you would not want to be stuck on a desert island to find out how easy it truly is to swing a herbivore…

And yes it’s technically the Saturday morning, but you’re still out from the night before and looking for a spot of live music… And like all our 2AM performances, it’s FREE ENTRY into our Public Bar party before 11PM and this allows you to simply wander into our upstairs bandroom later for this show at no extra cost either. Loose Bricks “Colourman” Single Launch
Saturday 16th November, 8pm

Loose Bricks will be appearing live on the Yah Yah’s bandstand Saturday November 16th for the Melbourne launch of their new single “Colourman”.

The band have been crafting their alternative rock spin on classic reggae party vibes this year, with infectious melodies compelling the team at Triple J Unearthed to shine the spotlight out to the groups regional hometown of Mildura. Our national youth broadcast network taking note of the fresh new wave of genre acts influenced by breakout stars Ocean Alley, and bestowing Loose Bricks a spot on what was aptly titled the “five new Australian Artists to watch out for if you love Hottest 100 Heavy Weights OA”.

Following on from their first headline tour earlier in the year, the band continue to develop a sonic palette that’s also inspired by the likes of Fat Freddy’s Drop, Sam Fender, Pink Floyd and Gorrilaz and we can not recommend enough to catch this party band (replete with their ever present smiles) for a boogie at this club show.

There’s $10 Espresso Martinis ALL NIGHT whilst entry to this show entitles you to stick around and party at Yah’s ’til 5AM with no extra charge! It’s the perfect chance to disgust your parents. X

Deathbeat ‘Cake’ Single Launch
Friday 22nd November, 8pm

Deathbeat launching new single “Cake” live, on the Yah Yah’s bandstand!
Supported by Murfy, SLOMO, Ruse – band plus a special 2AM performance TBA and $10 Espresso Martinis all night!

Deathbeat will be appearing live on the Yah Yah’s bandstand Friday November 22nd! It’s the hometown launch for their new single “Cake” and support on the evening comes from Murfy, Slomo, Ruse plus, a special 2AM performance that’s to be announced closer too.

The new single, replete with a hypnotic riff and a live drum kit that could be mistakenly taken as a 90s drum machine, has Deathbeat cementing their hip-hop influences with cheeky and poignant lyrics. We can’t recommend enough to catch this hip-hop/punk duo (who only earlier this year dropped their second studio EP effort) and their guitar assault that sounds more akin to a crashing pile of broken synths, combined with some bombastic drum grooves, live on stage this November!

And unlike most band rooms, Yah Yah’s is open ’til 5AM so you can kick on and party for no extra charge! A quality live music venue located at 99 Smith Street, in the Fitzroy postcode.
