TURQUOISE PRINCE RELEASES NEW TRACK SUNDAY SESH
AND DROPS COMPANION VIDEO – WATCH NOW
Canberra MC Turquoise Prince is back with his new single Sunday Sesh – a thumping, romantic homage to the endless weekend. Today he unveils the companion video for it, which was shot throughout Sydney’s Inner West, capturing Teon’s journey to and from his Sunday Sesh.
Turquoise Prince says of the song “the track to me is a party. I wanted to be able to hear it at the party, at the kick-on, and in mum’s car”.
The third single caps off a huge 2017 for the breakout rapper/singer. Worlds Apart and Like Your Friends created massive ripples in the hip hop community and Turquoise Prince has fast earned a reputation as a dazzling showman through support slots for Horrorshow and Boo Seeka as well as appearances at block parties thrown by close friends and mentors, One Day.
Sunday Sesh embraces Turquoise Prince’s duality, seamlessly blending silky RnB hooks with punchy verses. “I don’t always feel like singing. I don’t always feel like spitting bars, it’s just gotta be that balance” he says.
Hybridising musical influences is a key process, “I think I take as much from Kendrick or Biggie as I do from Freddy Mercury.” It’s an approach amplified by the production from Adit (Horrorshow, One Day) whose juicy, uplifting beat is laced with a hint of hedonism.
Joel Burrows (Entropico) directed the music video for Sunday Sesh, shot largely on a vintage Super 8 camera.
“Joel Burrows is a freak. It’s a lot easier when you’re working with a team (Entropico) equally as enthusiastic about the project as you are. We shot all day then I actually played Oneday Sunday that night, on some universe shit”.
Having departed from his hometown of Canberra to setup in Sydney’s Inner West, Turquoise Prince is ready to take on the world.
