Italian duo Alfa Romero along with producing music that’s been released via labels including Dubfire’s SCI+TEC, also run their own imprint Alfa Romero Recordings.
The latest release on Alfa Romero Recordings is a mixed artist EP that showcases a selection of underexposed artists, and it’s a great way to follow up on the label’s previous release that features original music from My Favorite Robot.
Moving from the veteran skills of My Favorite Robot to this EP where two of the artists featured are making a first ever official release of original material, it shows the label has an open minded approach to signing music.
Beck and Rius before this release have featured a track on Traum, and they open the EP with an epic cut of melodic techno that sets out a manifesto for what’s to follow. Unstable Son keeps things techy with his mesmerisingly haunting “Radioactive” which also features vocals by Marvid.
Half Of Me strips things back with their trippy “Climbing The Mirrors” and Naufer’s track “Aldegarr Re-birth” closes the EP with an understated groove full of spooky atmosphere.
Each of the tracks on the release work as an individual piece of music, but it’s also been programmed so each one flows into the next in a logical way, meaning the full EP can also be listed as if it were a mini album too.
