Torres, the creative alias of Mackenzie Scott, unveils the video for her new single ‘Skim’ today. It is her first new music since 2015’s acclaimed album Sprinter and her first release on 4AD / Remote Control Records.
In the striking clip, directed by Ashley Connor, Torres reflects on the relativity of human interactions, which is at odds with the robotic synth pop of the track. Watch via the image below.
Torres’ last record Sprinter was lauded across the board. The Observer called it “astonishing,” Pitchfork scored it 8/10 and named ‘Cowboy Guilt’ Best New Track, and the New York Times claimed “her music can smoulder while she considers exactly where she stands, and it can roar into feedback-edged howls when her rage or despair boil over.”
Following a short tour with Frightened Rabbit last month, Torres will bring her blistering live show on the road throughout North America and Europe. The performances will build on what NPR’s Bob Boilenpraised as “fierce” and “thrilling for its wrath and brutal honesty” when he named Torres one of his top five favourite shows of 2015.
