ALBUM OUT TODAY: TWAIN’S RARE FEELING ON KEELED SCALES FALL TOUR DATES CONFIRMED
Congratulations to Twain, whose new album Rare Feeling is out now on Keeled Scales.
Anticipation has run high since Twain’s album announcement in August. Big Thief introducedRare Feeling to the masses, premiering its opener “Solar Pilgrim” and describing Twain as “a voice for the ineffable that must be heard.” Listeners concurred, earning the song over 100,000 streams in its first month and positioning Twain as the #1 Most Posted Artist on Hype Machine. Uproxx premiered second single, “Little Dog Mind” confirming that the artist in question “immediately steals your heart.” Last week, Consequence of Sound shared “The Sorcerer” alongside a poignantly articulate feature, titled “Five Martyrs of Ego-Centric Society.” Today, Rare Feeling arrives.
The album was produced in pure, AAA analog form, and co-recorded by Adrian Olsen (Natalie Prass, Matthew E. White, Flo Morrissey, Foxygen) and Scott McMicken of Dr. Dog.
Twain spent much of the last year on the road, enchanting tastemaker events like Willie Nelson’s Luck Reunion and Nelsonville Music Festival and opening for acclaimed acts including Big Thief, Lucy Dacus and Langhorne Slim. His recent stop in New York City consisted of a soul-stirring Paste session and a sold-out slot at Bowery Ballroom. He’ll return to the city next week for an album release show at Union Pool on October 24, followed by select dates with Buck Meek of Big Thief and a full run with Americana favorites, The Deslondes. All shows are listed below.
“a voice for the ineffable that must be heard.” – Big Thief
“‘cosmic folk, bright and sparkling, but with all the caterwauling and rough bits that the most stoic traditionalist might desire.” – Uproxx
“Twain is life. His words and presence are hard to deny… he’s kind of got this cult hero status now.” – Tyler Williams of The Head and The Heart
“devastating beauty” – Consequence of Sound
“amazing” – Dr. Dog
“Reminiscent of Jeff Buckley, his voice wavers over a wildly romantic guitar progression. Like Twain’s career, the song is young, but it’s filled with soul and has instantly become timeless.”
– Baeble
“Twain’s music is what feelings sound like.” – Impose
“from an especially gifted stable of songwriters and is one of the best tracks of the year.”
– Blahblahblahscience
“one of my favorite bands” – Lucy Dacus
“marries beautiful, country-leaning musicianship with Davidson’s startlingly seasoned voice, so powerful and expressive it could cause storms to build from afar”
– Gold Flake Paint
“slow-paced beauty of a single that feels like a serenade to life itself” – Volume
“…one of my favorite musical beings of all time – including the dead ones” – Langhorne Slim
