You’re based Chicago, what’s the scene like there?
I wouldn’t know anymore, there’s a few decent acts I keep up with.
Your latest single Vacation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9cLa9ZZgLTc has just been released, what inspired this track?
Dom our guitarist, I wrote some verses but wouldn’t do any whole song meaning explanation any justice.
Where did you record?
Electric audio in Chicago but the version in the music video was cut live by Treehouse Records. Also Chicago based.
Where and how did you record the film clip for it?
A tiki bar in Dom’s home town of River Grove. Couple of our parents use to knock back drinks there too.
You’ll be hitting Aus this September for a round of tour dates including Sweaty Palms festival, as well as the Yours & Owls festival, what can the Aussie audience expect from your live shows?
The kind of show I hear they like.
How do you prepare for each show?
Vodka 2 hours before show time ‘til stage, while taking myself not very seriously, letting out a scream or howl, maybe stare at myself in the mirror for a bit.
The Orwells have hit the ground running playing big shows across the US and Europe, including the Governor’s Ball, Bonnaroo, and a Barclaycard British Summer Time show with Green Day in London’s Hyde Park, what do you attribute to your super speedy success?
Hopefully good songwriting and taking the stage all those times.
What influences your sound?
Good music.
Who are you listening to at the moment?
I been on an Italian/Spanish kick lots of fingerpicking n horns n words that sound nice but I do not understand.
What’s plans for the future?
I don’t know I hear real estates what yer supposed to do after you make it doing something cool.
Favourite food and place to hang out?
Sushi, and I dunno besides my living room? Probably skating around the loop with a few good homies.
