How did you first start playing music?
I was 12. My sister had a CD of her boyfriends band In her 1956 Toyota Carona. He played drums. I asked pa for some drums he bought them for me. It was then and there I knew I was in for a life of heart ache and pain.
How did Cherry Dolls form?
Moved to melbs with my old band. Only thing was no one else moved. I met Lachie and found out he played guitar when we were on a sender at 7am. that night we went to some doof club called surviour fell into a K hole and decided to start the band. Next morning we booked in a jam at Midean (rip best shit hole ever) and wrote who the hell, stars above & ain’t got no soul. It was love at first sight. Then I lost him. The one that got away. I still love him. Miss you Lachie.
Your latest single ‘State Of Mind’ is out now, what influenced the sound and songwriting for this track?
We went into the studio to do some demos. Kobe’s had the lick. Joms had the bass line. I hoped on the kit and it came together within 10 minutes. Alex Markwell is a wizard so we ended up just tracking it as a single. Jim talked me into dropping the walls with my lyrics this song and laying down how I really felt and I’m glad he did now.

Jamo’s lots of jamos. Then I’ll stretch and yell in Joms face for a good 5 minutes, then we get in a huddle and I tell the boys they are the best humans in the world and that I love them dearly. Then we tell each other we are the best band in the world and sing ‘sure know something’ by Kiss. Then we hug everyone twice and slap each other’s ass as we walk on stage.
