What's your name and role within The Chats?  Matt Boggis I wack tubs  Where are you currently based and what is the music scene like there? we are based on the Sunshine Coast Queensland. It’s pretty chill here, not too much of a scene but there’s some great bands from here like the unknowns and hobo magic. How did you first start playing and writing music? We played a lot in school during classes we didn’t really like and lunch. After school we spent a lot of time jamming and writing songs in our good mates shed. Who or what influences your sound and songwriting? We listened a lot to the saints, wire, cosmic psychos, and eddy current suppression ring. So I guess we got a lot of inspiration from those bands  What equipment does the band use live?  It changes around a fair bit but at the moment,  Eamon plays a fender super bass man with precision bass, josh plays through a fender twin with his jazz master and I just play cc drums with ziljian cymbals.   How do you usually go about writing music? We always seem to write songs while we are just jamming, so we just jam and see what happens usually.  You're currently heading towards the end of a massive Aussie tour, favourite show to date and why? Our favourite place to play so far on that tour was probably the triffid in Brisbane, all the people there we really nice and, the sound is the best.  How do you prepare for each show? Bit of drinking. Who are you listening to at the moment? Been listening to a lot of sheer mag, the smarthearts and twin peaks. What do you like to do away from music? Been skating since I was 7 so when I’m not playing music I like to skate heaps.  How do you usually go about recording and who do you usually work with during recording?  Lately, for the album we been working on we have been recording down in Geelong with Billy Gardner, and working with mikey young getting it mixed and all that stuff...  What's planned for the remainder of 2019 going into 2020? We are currently in Europe till 15 dec, then we have a bit of time off until laneway festival which we are all real keen for! https://www.facebook.com/thechatsband/
