Following the release of their acclaimed debut EP Tranquilize in July and their standout performance for triple j’s Like A Version in August, today, Melbourne three-piece Telenova announce their forthcoming Tranquilize Remixes EP out October 29 via Pointer Recordings / Remote Control Records. The EP features contributions from UNO StereoMeija, Joe Smallwood & Tim Zen. Listen to Meija’s rework of ‘Tranquilize‘, out now.

Of the remix EP, frontwoman Angeline Armstrong shares, “We wanted to see what happened when you put our first ever written song, ‘Tranquilize’, through the sonic prism of artist/producers from broader musical styles to Telenova. I love how it turned out – listening to all the different interpretations sort of feels as if Tranquilize was re-written in parallel universes or planets, like how it could’ve turned out if the inspiration for the song hit a different group of musicians in an alternate reality. It’s been really rewarding experimenting and pushing the sonic world of Telenova with these collaborations.”

Telenova’s recruitment of Los Angeles-based producer Jamie Sierota – professionally known as Meija – on the first ‘Tranquilize‘ remix sees the already euphoric track erupt into a synth-driven, pacing electronic soundscape.

Speaking to his contribution to the Tranquilize remixes EP, Meija notes: “I’ve been loving the entire Tranquilize EP and was super pumped when Angeline asked if I’d be up for remixing a song off the new project. I was really drawn to the haunting melody/vocals on the title track and wanted to figure out a way to keep that as the main focus while also trying a more electronic/analog approach on the musical side.”

Of MeijaAngeline Armstrong praises” “I’m a huge fan of Meija’s production style and songwriting – he’s so good with weaving multiple textures and layers and rhythms in and out of a track to keep it fresh every new musical phrase. It’s super cool to hear that treatment and a more electronica edge on ‘Tranquilize’. I remember listening to his early demos in LA back in 2016 and have always wanted to do a collab of some sort –  it’s a fun experiment to hear Meija’s unique production stamp over ‘Tranquilize’.”
