—
“An electrifying new voice for rock’s near future” – Pigeons and Planes

“Impossible to pin down, they deliver a drunken, stumbling, shambolic rock ’n roll that somehow keeps its shit together when the going gets tough. Truly, Trudy are something very special indeed” – DIY

“Beach-pop harmonies nuzzle up to choppy, buzzing guitars – like waltzing with your childhood sweetheart under the watchful eye of an incoming warhead” – An0ther Mag
—

Following up on ‘Is There A Place I Can Go’, the trio share the second single from theirJunkyard Jazz EP, ‘Twist It, Shake It. Rock & Roll’.

With whip-smart imagination and tongues firmly lodged in cheeks, Trudy and the Romance are nowhere boys for the 21st century. Born of a bygone era; the days when sharply-suited Teds strolled the streets and a sea-breeze would fail to fuck the flicks of a head well-oiled, Trudy take the good-hearted ramshackles off Jonathan Richman, punch out The Four Freshmen’s surf harmonies and scruff them up through the raw audacity of the noughties whilst tightrope-dancing somewhere between reality and fantasy.

Support on the wireless has come from John Kennedy, BBC Radio 1’s Huw Stephens &Phil Taggart and 6 Music’s Tom Ravenscroft, Tom Robinson and Steve Lamacq (as Featured Artist of the Week). KCRW have also given the trio their backing with plays coming in from Dan Wilcox, Travis Holcombe and Chris Douridas.

Having hit #7 Spotify viral charts with floor filler ‘He Sings’, Trudy finished the year as part of DIY’s Class of 2017, NME’s ‘100 for 2017’ and 14th most blogged artist of 2016on the Hype Machine Zeitgeist end of year list.

Upcoming Junkyard Jazz EP was recorded in former vicarage with Stockport’s Eve studios with producer David Pye and ‘Twist It, Shake It. Rock & Roll’ comes with its own spiritual sentiment;

“For a while I’ve wanted to write a record with the swagger of Jonathan Richman. Jonathan like the Beatles, Beach Boys and Springsteen cheers me up whatever the weather. My head was still a little mashed after someone I care about deeply got badly, Twist It, Shake It. Rock & Roll is a record for the stiff necks to lighten up a little; to love and understand what you actually want and not listen to the gang. See where it goes with a new flame. A true friend loves you for who you are. I’m an old soul and I miss the old world.

Rock & Roll, shake up the world and get on with it. Don’t be cynical, try to not be boring.
Hopefully this record will stir up that melancholic purple in your heart and give you a big fat old grin whilst doing so.”

Junkyard Jazz EP is being released by B3SCI Records and will be available on all DSPs and limited edition 45 RPM 12″ black vinyl on the 17th of November. ‘Twist It, Shake It. Rock & Roll’ is available digitally now here and you can purchase the EPhere.
