What is your name within The Bennies?

My name within the bennies is Anty… it’s the same outside of the bennies haha.

Where are you currently based and what is the music scene like there?

We all live in Melbourne and the beers bands and babes are excellent.

How did you first start playing music?

I loved listening to the living end while at school – and I went to see them and saw a ska band playing… so I started learning trumpet. Now I smoke trumpets haha.

When and how did The Bennies form?

We were at Meredith music festival watching sooo many sick bands and just having the best time ever. We looked up at the stage and just said that we wanna do that. So we started the band the next weekend.

You’ll be playing Melbourne Music Week / Civic Sounds Laneway Festival Sunday the 18th of October on ACDC Lane Melbourne City! What can we expect from this upcoming show?

You can expect to have the best time of your life and smile from ear to ear and sing ya guts out. We will be playing a bunch of new songs as well which is super exciting for us.

What does playing this show which such a stellar line up Regurgitator, Nai Palm, RVG and many more mean to you?

It’s always such a pleasure playing alongside radical bands and especially ones we look up to. We all have a pretty grand appreciation of The Gurg. It’s nice as well – cos it helps us feel like we have a place amongst such talented bands

Who are you listening to at the moment?

My tastes aren’t too representative of the rest of the band, but I been listening heaps to the new Story So Far album and an album called shade by an artist from Sydney called, Bilby

What do you like to do away from music?

I’m currently trying to make a million dollars by being the world’s worst artist. You can check out my instagram: @dutch_oven_z

What do you have planned for the remainder of 2018 going into 2019?

As I answer these questions we are in the studio recording a bunch of new songs – so hopefully heaps more writing and new tunes for your lovely ears.

Favourite food and place to hangout?

I absolutely love pancakes. I don’t really like to support massive chains in an interview – but getting to eat pancakes at any hour of the day is pretty rad thanks to pancake parlour.

THE BENNIES share new single ‘Dreamkillers’ + announce in-store tour!

THE BENNIES

Share new single ‘Dreamkillers’ Natural Born Chillers out Friday 2 Feb
Announce instore tour

With new album, Natural Born Chillers, only a few weeks away The Bennies share new track ‘Dreamkillers’ and announce an epic run of six shows and in-stores in three days this February.

“This song is our big fuck you to all the people that try and tell you not to chase your dreams” commentsThe Bennies’ lead singer Anty Horgan of the track which premiered on triple j Good Nights yesterday.

Upbeat, unbridled and honest, ‘Dreamkillers’ is the second single from The Bennies’ forthcoming album, bringing a positive energy reminiscent of 2016 hit ‘Detroit Rock Ciggies’ but with an even more anthemic quality. Kicking off with a melodic yet hard rocking guitar riff and a soaring synth line ‘Dreamkillers’ is every positive moment that a Bennies live set creates, all somehow packed into a 3 and a half minute fist pumping sing along. If you’ve been having a rough day, this song will turn that around. The musical equivalent of a high five with your best mate, ‘Dreamkillers’ delivers a knockout blow to any negative energy trying to destroy your trajectory to freedom.

THE BENNIES announce tour supports + shows start next week!

THE BENNIES

Announce national tour supports ‘Get High Like An Angel’ tour starts next week!

Party legends The Bennies have announced a huge list of supports for their national ‘Get High Like An Angel’ tour which kicks off next week in Melbourne, Ballarat and Mornington. Full list of supports & ticket details can be found below.

Be ready to crack a cold one, The Bennies are soundtracking your summer, performing tracks from their new album Natural Born Chillers (out Feb early next year) on an epic thirteen date national tour this November and December, hitting capital and regional cities across Australia.

It’s been a wild time since the release of Wisdom Machine in 2016. The band landed their hit ‘Party Machine‘ at #88 on the triple j Hottest 100, supported heroes The Living End, released a song with Damian Cowell, toured 3 times around Europe, completed a tour of Japan and sold out venues all across Australia. WILD.

They’ve since swapped jets for studio sweat and Natural Born Chillers was born. The album captures the extreme live energy the band has made a name for itself on, and features some of the most energetic, powerful and quirky songs in The Bennies catalogue to date. Lyrically and sonically it’s their most focused and mature work, but still manages to maintain the fun and enthusiasm that has built their fan base worldwide.

Recorded with Sam Johnson (The Smith Street Band, The Hard Aches, Camp Cope) the album fuses dozens of genres and is a testament to how the band thrive despite existing completely outside of current musical trends. This is the first record from The Bennies to be released via Pool House Records, The Smith Street Band’s label.
