TAY OSKEE RELEASES NEW SINGLE “CUT LIKE THE WIND”

written by the partae

After a bright start to 2017 with his win at the Byron Bay Blues Festival Busking Competition, Tay Oskee continues to be on the rise with the release of his single “Cut Like The Wind”.

The new single brings in a darker and more experimental edge to his previous work with unique tempo changes and chord progressions, which take the listener through a journey from darkness to light.

“After that initial riff which we though brought a lot of joy I came up with the idea for the structure and lyrics of the song. Which was breaking out of that moment in your life when you’re not too sure whether you’re on the right path and you’re feeling down and confused.  The outro is about not really giving a shit, as long as you are living the life you want to and you have love it’s all good.  I hope that’s the feeling the listener gets too, it should be a journey between emotions and an element of surprise on that first listen.” – Tay Oskee

Tay Oskee is a multi-instrumentalist playing a variety of guitars, banjo, harmonica and percussion. With a musical style that is wide and varied Oskee can take you on a journey from chilled beach tunes to punchy riff driven roots music with distinctive multicultural influences. With musical influences such as Fat Freddy’s Drop, John Butler Trio, Jose Gonzalez and Xavier Rudd his varied sound is a wholly original creation that lends itself to the many different inspirations Tay Oskee has taken over the years.

Raised in what most would call paradise, Oskee took many influences from the surrounding beauty of Mission Beach, and also his early years of living amongst the Aboriginal people of North East Arnhem Land. It was here where he was surrounded by a strong connection to the land and the sounds of ancient music and dance.  These influences can be heard in his lyrics and music where he communicates through songs of nature, hope, love, and personal journeys.

Oskee’s live shows have been praised for their incredible dynamics with the ability to leave crowds silent while he weaves through beautiful ballads of love and hope.  While in the next breath he can have the whole crowd in a dancing frenzy with his infectious build ups and rhythms. In less than a year, Oskee has had sold out shows, played Splendour In The Grass, Byron Bay Blues Festival and has supported acts such as Ash Grunwald, Mat Mchugh, Jeremy Loops (RSA) and Bonjah.

“I’ve travelled the world countless times and Tay is the best support act I have ever had” –Mat Mchugh (The Beautiful Girls)

“Despite your background, your age or your preferences in music, his songs have a way of reaching out and triggering a response; whether joy, nostalgia, sorrow or exhilaration, what’s notable is that they all make you feel something”– Scenestr
